So the liquid cooling system used is real and not a gimmic like many are saying. It looks quite similar to the note 9 system. Hats off to Xiaomi for making a really great device that everyone can afford.

@Swift Boiz I bet your ass that this "overhyped Chinese knockoff" helped alot. The Mi 8 cores reach 44C and the phone overall reaches 77C by just running throttling test. While the Pocophone handles the test with ease to the point that it won't even give readings. Heavy workloads in 15 minutes gets it to around 30-33-36 which is basically its idle temperature. Pocophone is just chad, temperature here is 47C in the summer but this thing keeps itself cool. I used to make fun of the cooling just as you until I got myself one, I will never regret it.
@@drw1926 fortunately we have Mi stores where I live so they are easy to find I picked one easily I wish that I can help you, but I seriously don't know what to do beside gearbest/ali express and such. You can check reddit r/xiaomi or even join their discord they will share their experience I guess.
@Swift Boiz the phone is priced like a moto G6 but has specs on par with flagship phones. Its not a bad deal at all. Im not sure wny mentioning the pierced vapor cooler caused you to call it a knock off
Me and my dad used these phones for 3 years. Best phone we ever had. I tweaked the software a bit because of my hatered towards MIUI, but my dad used is as default. Frankly, it was super easy to use. We just switched to the latest Poco X3. Would love to see a teardown of that phone. :D
@@エズカイレズ Me too, but you see Jack isn't the selling point of the Poco, the selling point is its decent price, overall good quality, and most importantly (if you care about gaming) a full package that includes 4000 mAh battery and proper internals. Mi 8 got 845, but at what cost? Anybody can slap a 845 under the hood and call it a day, but Xiaomi this time did actually rethink their mistake and the way they rushed Mi 8, so yeah The selling point would be how the 845 stays cool and being the cheapest 845 phone and yet one of the best 845 performance you can find. Mi 8 horrible heat up to 77C by just running throttling tests, cores reached around 44C or even hotter. But the Poco? Not even a single alerting temperature, highest I ever got is 39C while playing PUBG for straight up 2 hours 60FPS HDR full brightness while being charged.
@@エズカイレズ Unfortunately they won't add jacks to flagships as anything affects the battery size, you can see yourself Mi 8 and Mi 8 EE, just to squeeze in the fingerprint reader they had to chop some mAh. Flagships are messy.
@@fennviktorvich agree. I myself used mi5s plus, the perfect xiaomi phone for me. It has big screens, decent fingerprint, flagship performance, nfc, large battery, headphone jack. I am confused of what I'll upgrade to next. Poco had no nfc, mi8 had no headphone jack and small(ish) battery.
@Anis DALI It is pretty decent so far, if you don't mind gaming you can go for another decent phone like the OP6 (as avaliablity comes into play) But, if you want to play PUBG nonstop and Keep it cool go for the Poco, it isn't a huge compromise as Poco itself is way too decent for its price and does what's promised, 845 with 845 performance. It's easy to slap 845 under the hood and call it a day and that's exactly what Xiaomi did wrong with the Mi 8, rushed and it reaches 77C by just running the temperature/Throttle tests. While Poco doesn't even reach alerting Temps.
@Anis DALI Currently, I can play PUBG for straight up 3 hours HDR at the highest Framerate setting (I can't give you specific FPS) realistic setting at full brightness with the charger on, highest I got was 39C and that's pretty decent. Without the charger it is 36-38C
@Anis DALI Yeah it is great, remember to rate the phone itself not the entire brand, as you can see Mi 8 is good looking and all, but it heats absurdly..same brand but what matters is that nobody should rush design. Long story short, Poco may not be an impressive "phone" but it is definitely good for future proofing as Xiaomi is still updating its older models. OP6 is decent as well.
After watching about 20 videos on how to replace my cracked screen, this is the clearest tear down I have seen, thank you! After almost two years, mine is still going strong (apart from the screen which was my fault). Battery life is a bit less but still does 24 hours no problems. One of the few phones in the world with a fingerprint sensor where I want it.
@@malitaus5672 no like the thing doesnt even charge . The charging sign in the screen even if the phone is switch off( if i remember correctly) doesnt light up. Perhaps its problem with motherboard. I really like that phone . Thats y ill definitely repair it .
Polycarbonate needs to come back. I remember having a Nokia 920 and dropped it. All I had to do was replace the housing. It was only $17 on eBay to buy and swapping them out was a breeze. Can't do that now a days.
They used tap water inside the copper pipe...by the way I am disappointed with the quantity... they should have used at least a bucket of water for cooling purposes.
People are comparing with note 9 or s9 plus but really you should compare with 300 dollars phones like 300 usd samsung A6 then you can see why it the best value for money.I would rather prefer buying it than note 9 cause I want performance not gimmicky functions. Buy a note 9 and use it for 3 years? No, I am going to buy it rather buying flagships use it one year and then i will buy the next budget king. This way I can buy new phones every year. Never worry about update or laggy performance or battery life. Because you can use these phones one year without any issues cause warranty. But thats just my thoughts.
Sadly..most buget phones only have a short warranty plus trying to get a replacement is 90% failure now days as most out of states electronics manufactures dont respond 🙈
I usually get a flagship, then flash a custom rom after the 2-3 year update period is over and use it for another year before switching to a new one. Cause then I can still sell it for about 1/5 of the original price (its hard to resell non-flagship phones where I live).
Imran khan well, you won't experience lag on apps for 4 years on a decent flagship. I still have my S1. It's not the best, but I can watch ok videos and do regular tasks. After what? 8 years? Battery life is as good as the first day. Also, new budget smartphones from Samsung are coming. And those will be good.
@@josharntt For a budget flagship which costs 300$ it's more than enough. And even IP rating which certainly would increase the cost of the phone doesn't mean that the device is waterproof. Only water resistant. Nothing is waterproof.
@@josharntt And FYI, Moto also uses the P2i splash resistant nano-coating for their phones. I've used quite a few G series phones and even used them in the shower a couple of times. They were all fine.
@@gie3973 That's because P2i's splash resistant nano-coating is applied to the external body of the device. Not internal. But practically, it can be considered a sort of water resistance.
Pretty much all copper heatpipes and vapor chambers for consumer electronics are filled with water. It's an amazing working medium at those temperatures.
I would have thought so. Maybe some gas used in air conditioning systems maybe because water doesn't vapourise when it makes contact with air. Liquid nitrogen would be cool 😃
So basically, its a simple solution for any phone with over heating problems. I tink A copper pipe fill wit thermal paste would b enuf. Copper could actually extend to any parts that is not heat sensitive, make a bigger copper plate or sheet.
Well, considering wireless charging is a thing now, it would be hard to implement copper heat pipe in such a way but yes, if no wireless charging, then it is a viable solution but only in certain cases
Opened few phones, found copper sheets. My question is if i add in thermal paste, would that reduce temp further. Provided it dont ruin other parts of da phone. For poco, da liquid cooling pipes could actually extend to da whole frame. Donno y they did it short. My guess, some brand will do it better. Oneplus? I cn only hope.
A few months ago, I bought the Helios 300, i7 7700HQ. But, after a couple of months, they released 8th Gen laptops, and now I think I should've waited and gotten an 8th Gen laptop myself. But, what can I do now, I'll have to wait and get Helios 500 or something if need be.
Electricity issues. I don't wanna lose my work that's why a laptop is a perfect choice for me at the time. Perhaps in future I'll be building a Custom PC.
@@brandon_nope yeah! Like the "cheap" $750 one that doesn't even have an hd display. And the smaller and bigger ones both over a grand not even including a fast charger, or a dongle, you have to buy both of those separately.

I use Mi max 2, a Xiaomi phone which is the most durable phone I have ever used. I have dropped it more than thousand times.... sometimes also on the concrete but never damaged it. Though it got some scratches on the back, the screen is still the same.

Definitely want the Pocophone. I have been uninspired by phones of late. The only one that caught my eye was the P20/Pro and if I wanted to go notchless the Mate 10. For the cameras and performance mainly. Then I found the price and your durability test which drew me away. I feel the Pocophone has nailed it, other than NFC. Water proofing and glass isn't a must have and what this device delivers is nothing short of spectacular.
Just purchased this phone as a gift to my partner. Seems like I made a very good choice as I'm impressed with the build quality and serviceable components should they be damaged as demonstrated in this video. But that would cost a bunch just in the logistics of getting that phone manufactured and then keeping track of it until he gets it.
Also his name isn't Jerry.

I felt pain in my heart when you pierced the copper pipe
@Swift Boiz I bet your ass that this "overhyped Chinese knockoff" helped alot.
The Mi 8 cores reach 44C and the phone overall reaches 77C by just running throttling test.
While the Pocophone handles the test with ease to the point that it won't even give readings.
Heavy workloads in 15 minutes gets it to around 30-33-36 which is basically its idle temperature.
Pocophone is just chad, temperature here is 47C in the summer but this thing keeps itself cool.
I used to make fun of the cooling just as you until I got myself one, I will never regret it.

Hope the sales number of poco will make xiaomi rethink their absent of headphone jack on their MI lineup
Anybody can slap a 845 under the hood and call it a day, but Xiaomi this time did actually rethink their mistake and the way they rushed Mi 8, so yeah
The selling point would be how the 845 stays cool and being the cheapest 845 phone and yet one of the best 845 performance you can find.
Poco had no nfc, mi8 had no headphone jack and small(ish) battery.
i have a poco f1 and my heart yelped when you ran that blade on the copper heat sink omg. NOOO
@Anis DALI It is pretty decent so far, if you don't mind gaming you can go for another decent phone like the OP6 (as avaliablity comes into play)
But, if you want to play PUBG nonstop and Keep it cool go for the Poco, it isn't a huge compromise as Poco itself is way too decent for its price and does what's promised, 845 with 845 performance.

Never worry about update or laggy performance or battery life. Because you can use these phones one year without any issues cause warranty. But thats just my thoughts.
Ah finally, someone with a brain that works..!
Sadly..most buget phones only have a short warranty plus trying to get a replacement is 90% failure now days as most out of states electronics manufactures dont respond 🙈
@@wayneh3021 it has one year warranty

Pretty much all copper heatpipes and vapor chambers for consumer electronics are filled with water. It's an amazing working medium at those temperatures.

So basically, its a simple solution for any phone with over heating problems. I tink A copper pipe fill wit thermal paste would b enuf. Copper could actually extend to any parts that is not heat sensitive, make a bigger copper plate or sheet.
