The Mi Mix 3 is cooler than you think... - Teardown

- The Mi Mix 3 Sliding smart phone is attractive. Literally. Go to NordVPN.com/je... to get 75% off and use code JERRYRIG to get one additional month for free! With super strong magnets inside the Mi Mix 3, the two halves of the phone are constantly attracting each other to stay in the 'closed' position, and constantly repelling each other to stay in the 'open' position. Xiaomi has designed a brilliant phone. Uniquely with no complex mechanical parts that might break or fail. I think this mechanism will last for quite a while.

I can't stress enough how cool using magnets instead of a mechanical mechanism to slide the display. This changes everything for me, I always viewed sliding phones as fragile. I thought they'd break over time so I wanted a few months to see if they fared well. Because of this I could never consider it an option for me. But now that I've seen this, I'm very interested...
Wait for one plus 7 it might be a slider phone also, and one plus quality is always a promise
now all you have to worry about is the cable mechanism. most Nokia is broken on the flexible cable
You know that magnets degrade overtime right? It may or may not be perfect for longevity
@@midori8735 it lasts longer than your standard slider. You expect a phone like this to work for 10 years?
Just to add in I've heard the magnets are neodymium, the strongest kind and is not like those fridge magnets(obviously).

I had a slider phone before, it was the original Palm Pre. With WebOS it was honestly one of the best phones I've ever owned as far as the functionality goes. The sliding motion opened up the physical keyboard which is where everything started. No matter what you needed to do you just start typing and your personal world was at your literal fingertips. Hey bro I think that you make a mistake explaining magnetic slider, magnets there always repel each other. The middle point of sliding is when the magnets are directly above each other (they repel the strongest), thats why screen snaps in both positions. According to your explanation, the slider would always return to the close position.

The real genius about this video is how you manage to get all that parts back together after tearing them apart and put all that mess together again and get it working. Just brilliant.
I mean, this has to be 'the' design to kill the notch right? There is no reason to have giant bezels and notches anymore if phones follow the non-motorized slide mechanic. People who are scared of them being fragile must not have had a slide phone 10 years ago, which were always robust. (in my experience)
Exactly but people are just bootlicking S10, god damn it is just a notch without the bezels around it. They worship Samsung and call it innovation, while I see that MiX 3 is the first phone to put an end to the notch design without using a motorized camera, comes with wireless charging and respectively cheaper than any other "innovative phone" the Nubia is also amazing but people like their stuff simple and can't handle another screen (but would praise Samsung foldable phone the other day)
And if you want to snap a photo fast you can, Just slide it open take photo that what i mostly liked about it.
