  • Cinematographer Giancarlo Stigliano walks us through his recent GYM Spec Ad. He shot the
spec using the new Sony FX3 while lighting it with the Aputure 1200d and Aputure 300dII w/ a
Spotlight Mount. I was pleasantly surprised at how good the quality of the FX3 is and how
Cinematic the look is. Coming off a project recently, using the Sony Venice, I can easily say that
the FX3 has very similar qualities to that camera. The Aputure 1200d is a beast of light. Being
Aputure’s most powerful light, I utilized it to create a hard sunlight effect coming through the
window. Lastly, I used the Aputure 300dII with a spotlight to create a shaft of light on the wall to
create depth and interest. I hope you enjoy the video and check me out on IG!

@6:40 you actually can use this with a baby pin/c-stand but I'd recommend caution, particularly if it's windy or you've got a softbox on the front of it!
On the yoke there is a thread for storing the baby pin locking nut when it's not in use.

Carlos this was a great video. It would be interesting to find out where the 6x6 scrim was from too.

How did you keep that book light setup from spilling everywhere without using any cutters? I have this problem with book lights. Any tips? Thanks!

11:00 - That FX3 ISO bump is nonsense, no one would ever use that ISO for pro use and being able to go that high is very common in cameras nowadays. Bring able to go over 400k is pointless when the footage can't ever be used. It's weird that 65% of this video is about promoting that camera when it should be about just the one-man-army lighting.
