v Gold Yeah, I agree but I guess with how big the events are getting, having someone shout out “mother fucker” every few minutes is a bit much. To be honest, I’m not sure where I’m going with this - as I’m typing it, it does seem way too harsh. I think it’s probably more to do with how often he was warned about it, then telling them that he was “really fucking sorry” lol. ok, have to get this off my chest, why does the blue headed woman play the pot of greed at the start? the objective of uno is to end up with no cards not more.
not only that, but the reverse card actually doesn't skip the other player's turn in a 2 player game, it only reverses the turn order. Edit: actually the reverse card just becomes a skip in 2p games. Thanks RUclips comments

Bonesaw dropped the 'F-bomb' twice throughout the run. That's about it. Everyone claims it's three, but I can't for the life of me find the last one. I like to pretend that GDQ has a shred of dignity left, so I doubt that was the culprit behind his barring.

@@punkducky69 Yeah I looked it up now. That troll sounded real shitty, though I don't like that Shift used the f word. But he apologized and admitted it was inappropriate so he shouldn't be banned over it, that's an overreaction considering the context.
If they really wanted to do a Yu-gi-oh reference they should have used something like Allure of Darkness. Also the acting during it was really terrible.
Could you imagine if there was a rival to GDQ and during their first big event they brought out Bonesaw577 to do a speedrun of Jax and Daxter with special guest Owen Wilson sitting on the couch giving commentary
honestly the owen wilson jokes were the highlight of the run and owen wilson is the kinda guy that would see a clip of those jokes and go "wow that's pretty funny, I like that guy's attitude" and then donate $10,000 to GDQ a complete fucking shame the organizers can't see that Bonesaw for ESA
PCF wasn't exactly a great charity for cancer prevention to begin with tbh. Check out their finances and how much they contribute to research (which they claim is very important).
And GDQ claimed that 100% of the donations goes directly to PCF which is a complete lie. How much money actually goes to fighting cancer is probably in the 20-30 percents.
To be honest, I think that was likely a mistake by GDQ staff themselves since anyone with a functioning brain would know overhead always exists even in a charitable space. With that said, a woefully low amount of PCF's money goes towards fighting cancer, considering a little over 21% of their total expenses goes towards the aforementioned research (the lion's share goes towards education and awareness, which I've explained in another comment on this video as being less effective than research funding and I really do not want to talk about what community outreach could be). Also, what constitutes as an act of effectively fighting cancer depends on audience perception. Prevention certainly is one step towards dealing with cancer but I have to imagine treating people who have a more advanced stage of cancer is also important and would technically be a more significant solution to the problem. In fact, it seems like many donors are under the impression PCF is some sort of blanket cancer charity when they're most definitely not (Cancer Research Institute is superior by a mile) - even the guy who made this video proves it with his closing statement.
Aye, it's a pretty solid charity with respectable numbers behind it. An absolutely staggering 88+% of expenses goes towards Programs, of which at least 98.5% goes towards a Program that seems to make sense. Sure, it ain't a cancer-related charity, but they do provide a good service with the millions of dollars they pull in.

I'm glad the record was set straight here for everyone on the couch that day, but this vid is probably going to be seen as propaganda by anyone that matters thanks to doing things like misrepresenting the swearing that actually happened as "shut up" or pretending not to know why "triggered" jokes are an issue. There is some real issues happening on both sides of the isles here.

To me Bonesaw's run is legendary. The fact that he got banned and all the drama that followed just made it a lot funnier. Really good video in my opinion. It's great that these things are coming to light at large.
@Mallory Fawnfellow The irony is the fact that the left has rolled over so hard they are worse than the "wasps" from the 90s. Funny how that always tends to happen. At least history has shown what happens when that side pushes too hard.
He didn't even mock Owen Wilson, he just mimicked how he spoke. I myself enjoy GDQ videos, but *the people running it are such @$$holes.* I won't support them anymore. I'll find the speedrunner's actual channel instead.
As it turns out most of the speedrunners getting exposure are these neurotic trans women (i.e. dudes in drag) who feel a need to draw attention to their transition and gender. If you go on GDQ now they have gender pronouns next to names which seems mildly not all that important
>>I'll find another good speedrun chanell You can check ESA (European Speedrun Association) and etc. (events who not supported by company - which is regulated GDQ - and yes, GDQ now have a media conglomerate) You can joke there on speedruns, swears on adequate way(?) and even guys in chat can do that too - even shitpost and whatever...

+Conor Smith - I absolutely agree. I was just providing context as to why a otherwise seemingly benign sentence would be taken as a death threat.. If you know the history of "Some of you are alright.." then you know why it is seen as a threat. It's definitely a stupid ass thing to do.
First: If the person holding it didn't reveal it until the played it, that would have helped immensely. The whole time the fact they had a Yu-Gi-Oh card in their hand was apparent. Second: Why even use it? The point of Uno is get rid of all your cards, how does drawing 2 cards help you win? There's plenty of funny things you can do involving mixing cards from other games, but at least try to make the sense with the rules. There's even jokes like "I checked it's not listed on the ban list."
I remember getting a lifelong ban from the AGDQ chat for what I assume was me going a bit overboard on using Vargskelethor's "Grand Dad" emote during the run of "Flintstones: Surprise at Dinosaur Peak" at SGDQ 2016. _(note: "7 Grand Dad is a bootleg hack of aforementioned game, featuring a miscoloured Mario on its title screen. The emote depicts said miscoloured Mario.)_ Like, I can understand getting muted for a while, like maybe an hour or a day, but a lifelong ban for spamming emotes is ridiculous. I never bothered watching again. Petty, I know, but half the fun to me in watching these events is participating in chat. And now that they've made chat sub-only, my choice not to look back feels all the more justified.
This is why I like ESA (European Speedrunner Assembly) much more. It may not have the high production value that gdq can now afford, but at least the runners can swear and crack jokes.
Good reasons. I always get frustrated with people who are like "I wish ESA (or some other marathon) was considered more popular and higher tech so it could be big and fun like GDQ" not understanding the cause and effects. At least you seem to have them separated.
Hey said "fuck" four times on a family friendly live stream. I assume that the editor didn't want to play offensive language, but Bonesaw was warned more than once and accepted his punishment without appeal. His live streams are nearly unwatchable because of his language. I swear, sure, frequently and with abandon, but he SWEARS. I'm talking no class preteen on energy drinks trying to be edgy at the mall swearing. He deserved that ban and he knows it.
"He said "fuck" 4 times on a family friendly stream", well damn, so it was about once every 40 minutes? And it does not matter how much he swears on his streams. Banning for saying a vulgar word 4 times during a few hours of streaming is just censorship that doesn't serve any purpose. A question one should ask in this case is who is the target audience and why almost no one from actual audience is the target?
Lappelduvideify In all fairness, if someone is watching a speedrunning event, regardless of charities attached, they are probably familiar with swearing, the internet, and much worse. This event isn't really Friday night football with the folks, it's a hyper specific brand of streaming gameplay. Hell, most casual gamers wouldn't give two shits about speedrunning to begin with
Yeah it's funny when used in the right context but there...there it was nothing but cringe And even funny isn't how to describe it, amusing at best maybe?
pr0ntab Well, to an extent it can be. The more years they attend GDQ, the larger name they can make for themselves and their stream, and a lot of streamers (albeit controversially) live off of streaming. Being at GDQ can be equivalent to trying to get a raise at your job, but the manager is the biggest hard ass on the planet.
I remember getting permabanned on their channel earlier this year because I mentioned someone who's username had "forsen" in it. The money thing: If you read into the financial reports of big charity organisations, almost all have some shady stuff. I went through Peta and WWF financial reports and they both were hiding their true expenses or having unreasonable amount of expenses for several aspects. I recommend everyone to go through them. So just saying "they are reputable" or "all charities have expenses" doesn't deny the potential cover-up of zapping the charity money into ones own pockets.
Didn't you just say that they were shady and hiding expenses? Thus making them... not that good? I'm nitpicking, but you catch my drift. Being handed money in these quantities with so many workers is bound to have some shady shit go down. Everyone can be crooked, we're all shady, human beings.
My point exactly. The bigger the charity, the more shady stuff is going on. Just because WWF is considered and seen as reputable and Peta isn't doesn't mean both aren't shady. They are.
Gdq is hosted by a bunch of toddlers, didn't you know? All they do is cry about chat being mean to people even though it's what it's known for (and personally the only reason I went to agdq 2018) but now it's crap libtards who can't take anything from anybody, because they care too much about everybodys opinions
I mean granted he actually did curse a lot, that clip was just to make it humorous. But still, a lot of speedrunners curse regularly, so if they slip up once or a few times it's unreasonable to go "please stop swearing on my Christian server" *ban*
Urrcreavesh I don’t believe they mean that without swearing the event is naturally less fun, but rather if a runner is known to swear when they’re having a good time, then has to stop swearing entirely, they could become more focused on not swearing than on having a good time. If the runner isn’t having a good time, there’s a good chance their fans won’t, either.

the AGDQ 2018 paywall got so bad that some subscribers were acting as "voices" for the "plebs" (non-subscribers). Basically, the non-subscribed users would whisper to the subscribed users what they wanted to say in chat, and so the subscribed users spoke for them.
Kohlton Miller More than 85% of those funds go to the suits in management and such for those charity companies and not the actual people in need...this is what's ultimately disgusting about charity groups...they barely even donate the received funds to those in need of help That is why we've been having hundreds of charity groups for decades now with billions of dollars donated, yet still have world hunger and homeless problems, because of human greediness and naivity on those that choose to donate to such scum organizations, when they can just offer helping hands or a more personal level
One thing you could of touched on regarding financial aspects of GDQ is the lack of any form of accommodation or compensation for the runners; the reason people watch! I have seen runners have to RAISE MONEY to afford travel and lounging for the event. The goal is to raise money for charity, I understand that and no runners seem to make a fuss about paying out of pocket, but this highly sponsored event not offering any help at all to these runners doesn't feel right to me. Really great video.
@xxjez Saying that the event is held under false pretenses and double standards,IE communication and content, make it alt right? Fair enough. Burden of proofs on you for that one brother. Care to explain that out a bit?

nobody actually covered this, but "trump" was an instant ban in the chat from sgdq last year, but hillary or clinton wasnt (they set up a blacklist with a bot)
Regardless, if they want to stay out of politics as adamantly as they claimed then they should have made it so Hillary and Clinton were on the same levels as Trump. They are obviously skewed to the left and let that bias through in this regard.
Joe Swaaz Wow. I'm not a fan of Trump either, but that's just stupid and unfairly biased. It would be one thing if they prohibited political arguments in the chat, but the fact that they're only enforcing bans that affect one side of the political spectrum is so shitty.
I don't even need to worry about the sub only chat, because I was permabanned during AGDQ 2015 for writing "Asslevania" during a SotN run. No prior warnings or anything. Some mod must have been in a really bad mood, because I technically didn't even break any of the established chat rules.
Permabans are fucking retarded. Like what if you go on a stream years later and you forgot that you got banned a long time ago and can’t type. the longest ban should be a year
unfortunately the sad reality this day and age is the transgender community has a bad habit of getting easily offended if their pronouns are mis represented..calling it rude and whatever else its like your teacher spelling your name wrong..oh time to ban the teacher right?.. its not the transgender thats the issue..its the maturity level they display
I'm surprised you didn't touch more on the Bonesaw577 run. They posted his run, which became the most viewed run in GDQs, then they removed it because of all of the comments, but then reuploaded it to keep the ad revenue going. It is hypocritical to ban the runner, but continue to make money off of his run.
The last thing I would do is donate to a service like GDQ. If I want to donate I would donate *directly* to the prevent cancer foundation, why should I pay the staff so they can make a living screwing speedrunners over?
@@gJonii You can send donations directly to the charity with a message enclosed. There, the people you're actually donating to gets the benefit of reading it.

Some don't. I think that Bonesaw was pretty much done. The problem is that runners get massive hits fans to their Twitch channels. One person that i watched had a 2,000 percent increase in viewers from one showing at a GDQ. That said quality goes down, they still try to interact with their fans but they can't because of the size and the runs are just load - die - read chat - laugh - load - die again ... ad infinum.
bonesaw's j&d run is still one of my favorite runs they've ever had in gdq. I'm never one to believe in conspiracies, so what I think happened to gdq is the same thing that happens to most conventions. There is a vocal minority of people who are involved in these events who essentially take over them. You see these people running clubs at colleges all the time. The person who in an effort to prevent people from being offended, makes everything sound offensive. The average person is not interested in running a large event for free, so what you get are these people who do it because they think there is a lot of injustices in the world that they need to combat. Why show a bunch of trans people in the there? Because they think it's the right thing to do. There's a reason we call them social justice warriors. They literally think they are fighting for social justice, when in reality they're just creating hostile environments.
askmiller As a post-grad student who created the first student investment club at my uni and watched it fall apart within 2 years, along with meeting other organization leaders, wow you’re spot on. Haven’t thought of it that way before.
Urrcreavesh if you think pointing out that people who run these events often try to combat injustices is a conspiracy then you don't know what that word means. They often literally say so if you ask them. It's not a secret, it's not a conspiracy, it's exactly what they say they're doing. Yes, not all, ( my telepathy senses you likely to argue) but I'm not talking about all, but the trend. The problem with them making hostile environments is essentially the exact same reason cultural relativism doesn't work. Most good people are not trying to actively offend anyone, but to scale that to any significant size causes issues where two groups get offended by the opposite things and you're forced to pick a side. As a result of trying to appease everyone, you inevitably enter fights and cause people stress of trying to avoid saying anything that could be perceived as an attack from anyone for any reason.
It happens in charities, charitable trusts, businesses, and more. Just look at Google and Firefox. Google WILL have its employees persecute you if you aren't in full 1000% agreement with the company approved views. And Firefox fired a CEO for having one opinion that wasn't PC.
At this point, it's an enormous cringe-fest; I don't even tune in anymore. If there's a particularly interesting run, I'll just look up the speedrunner's channel later for something that isn't gonna be bogged down with a laundry list of rules and regulations.
Lol that air canada response was hilarious.

"I don't even know you"

2013: the speedrunning event to prevent cancer
2018: the speedrunning event that became cancer
I like SGDQ better anyway, so good thing SGDQ money goes to Doctors Without Borders.

The money thing:
If you read into the financial reports of big charity organisations, almost all have some shady stuff.

WWF is, though. But sure, go cherrypick.

Carrot, do you ever get tired of being this wrong?
0:05 Proto should have been banned seeing as Pot of Greed is banned.
Proto should be banned for being that damn ugly
@@soincboom2 its a man, what did you expect?
It still boggles the mind that bonesaw was banned. I heard about the ban, then immediately watched the stream only to but fucking bewildered. I don't think I've ever laughed and enjoyed a speed run as much as that. The couch (especially bald boy) was killer and added to bonesaws comedy perfectly. It was honestly what SGDQ should be about. Guys having fun raising money for charity.
5:39 holy shit, I was there in the free-use computer room when the staff dude was giving him that lecture. Felt so uncomfy for that to be happening in public, lol
the AGDQ 2018 paywall got so bad that some subscribers were acting as "voices" for the "plebs" (non-subscribers). Basically, the non-subscribed users would whisper to the subscribed users what they wanted to say in chat, and so the subscribed users spoke for them.
okey FREE THE PLEBS
I would never support GDQ with money. What they're doing with charity is good and all, but I don't want any money going to them.
I did this - thought sub money went to charity too?
Kohlton Miller More than 85% of those funds go to the suits in management and such for those charity companies and not the actual people in need...this is what's ultimately disgusting about charity groups...they barely even donate the received funds to those in need of help
That is why we've been having hundreds of charity groups for decades now with billions of dollars donated, yet still have world hunger and homeless problems, because of human greediness and naivity on those that choose to donate to such scum organizations, when they can just offer helping hands or a more personal level
Trihex was rehosting the stream. Everyone I knew just went there because he let everyone use his chat for it.
Thanks for asking me for my input on the topic, was really nice to work with you for this video :)
halo
psss u guys dont liek GDQ make your own ALT right gdq or whatever
my OSRS boi
a q p
w
Ur mum ?
@xxjez Saying that the event is held under false pretenses and double standards,IE communication and content, make it alt right? Fair enough. Burden of proofs on you for that one brother. Care to explain that out a bit?
“we’ve been instructed not to talk about rubber ducks”
Meanwhile Jimmy's dad is staring at his copy of "Jimmy Neutron: Boy Genius" for the ps2 and throws it in the trash while deleting his footage of his 3 minute run using what he calls the Goddert Rubber Duck glitch.
nobody actually covered this, but "trump" was an instant ban in the chat from sgdq last year, but hillary or clinton wasnt (they set up a blacklist with a bot)
sheep found
Regardless, if they want to stay out of politics as adamantly as they claimed then they should have made it so Hillary and Clinton were on the same levels as Trump. They are obviously skewed to the left and let that bias through in this regard.
These kinds of moves are the reasons why Trump will win elections in 2020 once again :D
Joe Swaaz Wow. I'm not a fan of Trump either, but that's just stupid and unfairly biased. It would be one thing if they prohibited political arguments in the chat, but the fact that they're only enforcing bans that affect one side of the political spectrum is so shitty.
Gabriel Martínez *HURR...*
How ironic. An event that's trying to prevent cancer it's becoming the cancer itself.
UniverseSix Hit Holy frick, I was thinking that exact same quote.
I don't even need to worry about the sub only chat, because I was permabanned during AGDQ 2015 for writing "Asslevania" during a SotN run. No prior warnings or anything. Some mod must have been in a really bad mood, because I technically didn't even break any of the established chat rules.
You could've been on your phone, which auto capitalises I believe
Same here. It’s whatever chat is retarded anyways.
I got banned for saying CNN is fake news
Shame cause it was a genuinely chuckle worthy comment too, something GDQ doesn't produce much of
Permabans are fucking retarded. Like what if you go on a stream years later and you forgot that you got banned a long time ago and can’t type. the longest ban should be a year
The sad part is, no amount of valid criticism seems to have any effect.
Banned for a year for joking about Owen Wilson.
wow
I thought you were gonna say "wow". Color me disappointed.
UnderratedBreakfast Jack and daxter by bonesaw. It's the funniest speedrun ever
Wow. Good idea
Well to be fair that's not the full story
He was banned for not stopping the jokes when told to by the staff, hence breaking the rules of GDQ. Still one of the best runs in GDQ history though
"Wow" - Owen Wilson while watching this, 2018
how do you prevent cancer when your stream is cancer??
k bye
Fucking this. Bump this up with likes guys.
🤔
k bye
When the year comes where GDQ is no longer a thing will Cancer have prevented itself?
They basically turned into a bunch of sore Reddit mods. Very sad what GDQ has become
Bonesaw was the most entertaining speedrun i've ever saw. We will sadly never experience something like that again on GDQ.
What's next? "Oh NO, someone made an okay hand gesture! BANBANBAN!"
"He drank milk on camera! Fetch the banhammer!"
Bonesaw is a GDQ hero, I loved his run so much.
car keys
Naruto and Pikachu and the hunt for Owen Wilson's Car Keys
Once GDQ started requiring pronouns in the name for every person, I was done.
It got so much worse, there was a massive man-women only block that lasted like half a day. The cucking is at an all time high.
@@coomfard5771 Man-woman only block?
unfortunately the sad reality this day and age is the transgender community has a bad habit of getting easily offended if their pronouns are mis represented..calling it rude and whatever else
its like your teacher spelling your name wrong..oh time to ban the teacher right?..
its not the transgender thats the issue..its the maturity level they display
I'm surprised you didn't touch more on the Bonesaw577 run. They posted his run, which became the most viewed run in GDQs, then they removed it because of all of the comments, but then reuploaded it to keep the ad revenue going. It is hypocritical to ban the runner, but continue to make money off of his run.
The last thing I would do is donate to a service like GDQ.
If I want to donate I would donate *directly* to the prevent cancer foundation, why should I pay the staff so they can make a living screwing speedrunners over?
donating into the open public is just so you can get props on donating.
Could always count on Uncle Phil to spread his wisdom
Your donation goes directly to the charity regardless. If you donate through GDQ, you however get to send message to be read and participate in voting
@@gJonii You can send donations directly to the charity with a message enclosed. There, the people you're actually donating to gets the benefit of reading it.
@@deekay336 The one benefit I can see is that more people are encouraged to donate when they see other people donating
At this point, if I was a runner and I got banned from this, I'm not sure how upset I would be. It would be like being upset that I got kicked out of a sewer and was told I couldn't hang out there anymore. I'm not seeing a downside there! lol
Some don't. I think that Bonesaw was pretty much done. The problem is that runners get massive hits fans to their Twitch channels. One person that i watched had a 2,000 percent increase in viewers from one showing at a GDQ. That said quality goes down, they still try to interact with their fans but they can't because of the size and the runs are just load - die - read chat - laugh - load - die again ... ad infinum.
Bonesaw's ban was where it all started in my opinion.
bonesaw's j&d run is still one of my favorite runs they've ever had in gdq.
No fun allowed.
These are games.
ah post 2015 GGDQ where everything triggers the people with 51 genders and where "shut up" is swearing
