I’ve been looking at buying a 360 camera and this one is now definitely on my list. I love the idea of the multi mount as well, will define clean up a busy cockpit.
I have the X2 but I damaged one of the lenses 🤕 But as a cyclist, I have that portion of the lens downwards towards the road, so it's never noticeable. I will probably upgrade to the X3, but that handlebar mount looks as good as the new camera. For anyone who is in two minds about the camera, especially the software to make full use of the camera.... the desktop application is AMAZING and so easy to use, you'll be using it like a pro in 10 minutes flat.
Sorry to hear that, the lenses are easy to damage I think because they stick out. But yeah, the new handlebar mount is also really exciting and makes filming with this so easy.
@@DJ-Daz thanks, I had the misconception that the app on the iPad/iPhone was much better... does it have an in-app for social media like instagram or RUclips? ... is there a way to broadcast Live directly while you film with the insta 360 3x? like you wanna do a news piece like me for cultural events, ... I was thinking I could hold the 360 3x on a leg stick with one hand above to the side of me and a person while using the Rode Interview Go connected to the insta 360 3x and the reporter/interview handle connected to the rode go mic and do an interview while the camera do the filming Live for me on insta or RUclips... is there a possibility to do something like this? thanks for getting back.. is in the process to figure out what camera I should get for a one man band so to speak for stand ups, interviews and bicycle trips this Summer! 😃
I'd imagine that this camera would be great for B-roll shots to supplement the primary chest/helmet mounted one since it captures everything and the new handlebar mount would make it easy to do. Of course, that would mean more editing time, but, might be worth it on occasion.
While 360 cameras are amazing for bikes and I think it's almost like a revolution in bike ride filming, I prefer a good camera strapped on the body still as a watcher. edit - 360 cameras bring variety and more options for video makers with a good quality video, I don't think the technology can fully fix perspective to be the same as a normal camera tho.
How does the loop function work? One reason why I would invest in a 360 cam is for my daily commute to work, and for recording traffic misdemeanours by drivers. Sometimes I can catch 5 or 6 incidents. The GoPro has a video highlighting feature to help you find/remember the incidents. Could the Loop feature be used as such, please?
I'd like to see more of what you did with the Bullet Time section. What sort of button-pushing do you do during the course of a long ride in order to get your camera started. What do you do when the battery runs out, etc? I have a GoPro Max (as well as other GoPro cameras)_ and am interested in how they compare when it comes to set up. Anything that means more time riding and less time pushing buttons and selecting menu items is as plus!
The battery is pretty long, but you can bring a spare battery which is what we usually do. Or you can use a portable charger and charge even while filming I believe.
@@TwoWheelCruise I have several spare batteries for each of my GoPro cameras and I also use a portable charger when the physical setup makes that possible. The question is what button pushing goes on when I switch and do I need to get my phone involved. I wish reviewers would show that process in detail (some of which you did in your Bullet Time section, which was a good step in the right direction for the review process).
Great review, nice mis of lighting conditions etc. The whole idea of choosing the framing "in post" is such a game changer! At the moment I find it a bit too costly for my 'just cruising as a hobbyist' shots, but otherwise I'd be totally in to this!
Question for you, how do you get the camera to point to you then to what you talking about then back to you while riding? Is this done in post with the app ( so do you just talk over the footage and then rotate the image in post ) or does the camera mount have a remote or hand gestures to like rotate the camera? Great video and great chanel btw I've been following you both since you been on them foldy bikes. Absolute love your chanel👍🏽
don't know if vietnam is similar to taiwan, but if you ride near rice fields during early morning or the afternoon when the sun starts to set, you would encounter countless flying little bugs bumping onto your face.
A lovely and entertaining video from beautiful Vietnam. I have the very same camera yet still in an unopened package. I look forward to using it in various activities, too.
Nice vibrant colors without getting too much washed out shots. I want to try a 360 camera for skiing, but I haven’t found yet a good way to have it mounted.
Thanks! We didn't do any color grading in this video, so it's the natural colors from the camera. I used a normal selfie stick while snowboarding once, it was pretty scary 😅 ruclips.net/video/Zl-mG4Xk1Ts/видео.html I think with skiing you can mount the 360 camera on a short extension pole connected to your stick?

Very nice review--the best for this product I've seen on RUclips. One concern is the fish eye lenses that distort the field of vision--most noticeable when tall street light poles and trees become bowed. Is there a way to prevent such distortion? Is it something that happens only in 360-degree modes? I'm also wondering about whether or not it's possible to setup the handlebar mount and camera to show a clear view of what's behind you--similar to third person motorcycle mounts I’ve seen that connect to the saddle with the 360 camera facing behind the rider at maybe a 45 degree angle? This might be and important view to capture. Many thanks for previewing this camera for us. Hope all is going well with you back in the States. Look forward to your return in 2024.
Keep up the great videos! I’m interested in one of these camera’s myself. I ride motorcycles and have a GoPro 10 and a helmet mount, but this thing looks really cool. On a side note, Thuong is really progressing! She’s inspiring me to get back on my bike to get back in shape. Tell her to keep up the great work.
Great camera. Thoung looks so strong on the ride. Liked the twirl of the camera, pretty cool results of that. Thanks for sharing you two...🎥😃👍👌👊🚴♂️🚴♀️💪🙏
For RUclips, I like the RS because it gives you both 4k flat and 360 shots. But I know some people who exclusively just use the 360 lens. We generally use 4k flat video because it is less editing time with the many hours we film each week.
Wow! Love it! I like that the camera can remove the extension stick from view. It reminds me of the Mars rovers when they take selfies. It looks like there was a camera man taking the photos or videos. The “whirly” cord is very clever, I can see very slight distortion, but otherwise yields the intended effect.
I think there are some case options, but they would greatly reduce the image quality. You shouldn't need it as long as you are careful while holding the camera, but I always put the cover over the lens while I'm not using it.
Great video! Do you edit the videos in on the computer or is there a way like you’re doing key frames and changing the angles of the camera and just using your phone to upload videos?
Wish you move it left and right to get a better side view of yourself actually on the bike and show off your ride a bit while in motion. That’d be extra cool especially if you had a fire ass customized bike

You can plug into a USB-C battery. We just turned the camera on 360 video mode. When we edit it later we can choose the keyframes and positions throughout the video. You can export it multiple times if you want to get multiple angles at once.
As a cyclist do u ever feel the need to screw on a lens guard? if yes, standard or the premium ones? & why one over the other? how did u get such a crisp audio too, what audio setup is that? thanks.

The weight is about the same as the One R, lighter than the RS though. I didn't want to use one One R on their new bike mount like you have because I thought it was too heavy but this camera is a little heavier or lighter, can't remember exactly.
With the new mount, you just need to be careful about the weight at the end of the extension pole. It's sturdy enough to support other cameras on the bottom/top mounts since they do not extend far out.
@@TwoWheelCruise I have it, but the One R, which I have, was heavier than the one x2. The X3 is about the same weight as the One R so I guess I could attach that to the end of the pole. I need to look into it more though. I don't really want to spend $500 on a new camera right now.
You review these 360 cameras but you really don't tend to use them when your film your own rides. Is it because of the hassle of editing the video compared to a gopro?
Yes, it's not practical with how much video we film to use them in most of our videos. It at least doubles the editing time since you need to reframe everything and export twice. However, I really like this new front handlebar mount setup and it makes filming a lot easier to just have the camera on and not worry about anything.
The footage when stationary looks good, but when zipping along on the bike the footage looks of poor quality, like 720p. And some of the fun effects this camera does are kitschy, I can see them making a big splash over the next 6 months on social media but quickly becoming obsolete as the fad quickly fades.

Hi, Whats the best option for Aero bar mount? Hardly seen one
Defeats the purpose of aero bars. I don't think anything will work on them, so some kind of stem mount might be the only option.
Must have missed that video, but what happened to your Specialized helmets?
We still have them, using both now.
Nice...!
The footage when stationary looks good, but when zipping along on the bike the footage looks of poor quality, like 720p. And some of the fun effects this camera does are kitschy, I can see them making a big splash over the next 6 months on social media but quickly becoming obsolete as the fad quickly fades.
