    CASEY STONER was unbelievable back in this time.. He was fearless at this time in his career.. Loved watching MotoGp back then.. When Casey jumped to Repsol Honda also he was brilliant too but it was this season on this DUCATI that I loved so much bcos winning this world title against Valentino Rossi in his peak showed how great CASEY was

      Same here, I always liked MotoGP if i ever saw it but never went out of my way to watch it.
      Got my license and first bike a month ago, now I understand how much time and effort they put into getting as good as they are to ride at that level on the edge of their skill and the edge of what the bikes can handle.
      I have so much more respect for all riders as its no where near as easy as many experienced riders make it look, especially on the road with other cars, very average roads etc...

      @zinnyc6757 8 лет назад

      Dayle Clarke Agreed man. It is amazing what Stoner is capable of doing with that difficult Ducati. I am watching 08 season on motogp. This guy needs to come back to ducati before Rossi leaves for good. I think Stoner is the second best of modern era. Rossi being first only because the way he adapts. That 08 laguna race, when Stonar had crazy pace. The way he prevented him to escape and manage to win amazing.

    • @phxmaster9684
      @phxmaster9684 8 лет назад +1

    • @dayleclarke4433
      @dayleclarke4433 8 лет назад +4

      PHX Master They aren't same situations. Stoner struggled for most of his last year on the Ducati before figuring something out and winning a couple the year before Rossi got on the bike.
      The factory were incapable of improving the bike until a couple of years later when Audi bought Ducati and overhauled the management. Even now it's still slow progress.
      There's nothing wrong with preferring Stoner, he is a great two time champion. Rossi is almost certainly the greatest of all time though. His achievements far outweigh two years of struggling that most athletes never recover from. Don't forget he already left the almighty, unbeatable Honda to get on the Yamaha that hadn't won a race in over a year and instantly won and beat Honda who threw everything at beating him back in 2004.

    Unless you have actually raced motorcycles on a serious stage you will never understand how hard it is to beat someone that has that big of a horsepower advantage. Even if you are faster, trying to make a pass stick is the most frustrating thing in the world. Major props to Rossi for managing to keep it that close.

    • @adamOl81
      @adamOl81 9 лет назад +23

      Nathan McDonald It's also quite hard to be "so close" when your bike is "not going into a corner" at all. The fact that Stoner was able (as the only rider) to win so many races (and the championships also) on Ducati is really something. You could be able to see "the power" of Ducati during these two seasons with Rossi on it. How powerful was that?

      I disagree, people keep using this argument that Marc wouldn't be successful on a different bike but he is riding the most difficult bike right now. As Alex said, similarly to Stoner, you can put Marc on a scooter and he would find a way of being fast. I guess it's just an innate ability to ride a bike that you can't really teach.

    ***** Rossi won 46 races in his first 100 GP, Stoner 45 in 176.
    Rossi 108 first places in 312 races (34,5%), Stoner 45 in 176 (25,5%). Rossi 196 podiums in 312 races (62,8%), Stoner 89 in 176 (50,5%).
    Stoner 12 seasons: 45 first places, 89 podiums, 2 championships (2 second place, 1 third, 2 fourth, 1 fifth, 2 eighth, 1 twelfth, 1 twenty-eighth )
    Rossi in his first 12 seasons: 88 first places, 135 podiums, 7 championships (4 second place, 1 third place).
    Stoner 7 years in MotoGP, 2 championship (1 second place, 1 third, 2 fourth and 1 eighth).
    Rossi in his first seven years in MotoGP/500 win 5 championship (2 second place).
    Stoner in 2012 obtained 78 points less than Pedrosa. Rossi in his first 12 season, never obtained less points than his teammate. Never.
    Only one time Rossi ranked after his teammate, in 2010 when he broke his leg.
    Rossi is 36 years old, is an official biker of Yamaha Team and is the vice champions of the world. Stoner is a fisher.

    • @nicoladc89
      @nicoladc89 9 лет назад +14

      No, Stoner is talented. Rossi is a legend, an incredible champion, a prodigy.
      Stoner is Pippen, Rossi is Jordan. Stoner is Cavani, Rossi is Messi. Stoner is Murray, Rossi is Federer (Marquez is Nadal, CR7, Tim Duncan)

    • @giorgio8721

      Nicola Dal Corso in 2012 stoner had less points than pedrosa...but he skipped 3 races, raced two injured and before indianapolis the victories' count was 4-1 for stoner
      in his first 7 years rossi raced against Gibernau (9 victories in MotoGP) Melandri (5 victories) and last but not least Hayden (3 victories, yes that's right..3) managing to lose a championship to the american, ALWAYS on a factory bike.
      Stoner won 11 races more than rossi over the same period battling with Rossi, Pedrosa and then Lorenzo, starting on LCR Honda and not having access to michelin saturday night's tyres as ROS, PED, and HAY, he had a harder time than rossi did in his early years for sure
      Stoner has a corner named after him, a corner where he gained 0.5s a lap on everybody else.
      But I really like the parallelism with other sports (pippen and jordan and so on....) :)

      Giorgio Borsetti 3 x 25 = 75 avrebbe fatto comunque meno punti. E poi è stato ha saltato gare non per infortunio. Gli avversari di Rossi hanno vinto poco perchè vinceva sempre lui, come gli avversari di Marquez. Ah Biaggi ha vinto 6 mondiali
