GP would be more interesting if they allowed the choice of 2stroke or 4. MotoGP is still technologically evolutionary but as far as variation goes it has gotten a little stale. And for those who wonder why Barros could put up a fight against the 4 strokes is because the engine types while mechanically different have similar power output. A two stroke engine has a power stroke (fires) every two strokes of the piston, and a four stroke has a power stroke every 4 strokes... hence the need to double the size of the 4st engine itself to match the power of the 500cc 2stroke. NOW. The power delivery of the four stroke is much smoother because the fire rate allows the engine to spin and flow rather than hammer on the crank every other stroke of piston. Because of the displacement and lack of a valve train, 500cc 2st are lighter and easier to manuever, however the power delivery makes riding a st much harsher and more unpredictable. 4st are heavier but allow smoother power delivery and a higher rpm range to allow more speed on straights. Two breeds of the same monster... let them both compete.
