This is such a lovely pattern, thank you! 😀 Can you tell me what temperature for the washing please? I assume to wash by hand? Do you soak or just wash? Thank you!
Lovely! Is the yarn weight fingering or sport? I'm wishing to make it for my husband for Christmas. Thank you for posting the video. Great tutorial! 💖💖💖
Lee Mager thank you for your comment. Soft Donegal Tweed is better to say fingering weight (100g-415 yards) but after washing it blooms a lot. I know some people use 4-4.5 mm needles (US6-7)
Love to hear it! ❤️ did you use Soft Donegal Tweed? I usually dry it flat (I do not put one side inside another) , measure length (parts should be equal) And after hat is almost dry, I put it on blockhead to make top of the hat round.
@@warmwoolgallery4700 I dried it flat and it seemed to work well, however the vertical rows run sort of diagonal. Would you have any tips on how to make sure they are straight? I couldn't find the tweed yarn near me, and instead used Hedgehog Fibres' Skinny Singles merino wool
Sure. I think it should be easy to block as Soft Donegal Tweed. Wet it. And when you lay it horizontally try to make it straight (vertically rows). You can pin hat in some points as well. I think it’s good idea to record short video. I am sending yarn through USA and Canada, so you can check my site if you are interested ☺️
I just knitted hat for my husband as a Christmas gift - 100 sts 3.75mm needles. Tweed garment becomes a little bit wider and shorter after washing. It fits very well up to 58-60cm head size
Great video, thank you , so nice that you are not wearing horrible bright false/ long nails which are always so distracting!
Your was by far the best.
Thank you so much for posting this video. Please continue.

Love this hat and just completed my first one! Do you have any advice on how to properly block & dry after washing?

wow...you knit 5 times faster than i do
Could you please identify the weight of the yarn you are using? It appears there are a variety of yarns with the description of "soft Donegal tweed."
It’s 380m per 100g single thread
You also can use Mohair Tweed from
Donegal yarns (70% merino 30% kid mohair) 400m/100g
Do you think 100 stitches in fingering weight would be too small for a man's hat? If I wanted to make it bigger, how many stitches would I increase?

Can you share the gauge? Thank you!
May I ask what yarn weight you use for this design?
There is an Aran weight and a fingering weight.
Hello Effie. I would say it’s fingering-sport weight.
Soft Donegal bloom a lot after washing (needles 3.5-4.0 mm)
