    Don't say he's the next Kubrick. Don't say he's the next Robert Altman. He's Paul Thomas Anderson. He is certainly his own film director, he's amazing.

    I think people should stop PTA as "the next Kubrick" and start looking at him as "the next Robert Altman".

    He admits to having a "leg up" entering the film business having been born in Los Angeles.

    In all honesty and interest, how does one compare Boogie Nights and Pulp Fiction. They completely different movies.

    It's funny how dorky acting he is but at the same time able to put out something as un-dorky as Boogie Nights... he's much cooler acting now that he's grown up. Always been brilliant though.

    i think during this time, PT Anderson and Quenti Tarantino arent still friends...
    today they are best of friends. maybe QT reached out to PTA. he loves Boogie Nights even naming it in his top 20 films since 1992

    Truthfully, I think in this particular interview PTA kinna holds back when Rose brought up Tarantino simply bc of the "friendly competition" amongst the two..at the time and even to this day in 2012. Tarantino definitely broke down barriers with pulp, and PTA does a fine job acknowledging this. However, during this interview at the time PTA was feeling the rush from recent success from Boogie Nights, so you can't blame him for kind of thinking "Well hey, this is my moment..not Quent

    you may well have had a 'leg-up' into the film industry paul. that however does not take away from the fact that you are one natural born artist

    Charlie Rose is a terrible interviewer. He finishes too many sentences for the interviewee and puts words in their mouths throughout the entire interview. He seems rather presumptuous, and egotistical. That's the vibe I get in every interview I watch of his.

    • @SuperCheekySlut
      @SuperCheekySlut 10 лет назад +2

      I don't think he's a bad interviewer: he makes his interviewees very comfortable and they're always candid as a result. You're right about finishing their sentences though, and putting words in their mouths. I have no idea why Charlie does that, just a bad habit I suppose.

      Film Super That's not his job at all. His job is to coax out the most sincere and interesting answers from the interviewee. What he's doing is putting words in their mouth, words which they wouldn't have chosen themselves.
