    Semper Fi Devil Dogs! 2012-2017, 0311 !! I miss the friends, camaraderie, foreign food, traveling, foreign countries, and the cool ranges and training.
    It was definitely a life changing experience that I’m l’m glad to be a apart of. I got out and used my GI bill so I took advantage of my resources. Whether you do 1 enlistment or many, I will never talk someone out of it. One of the best things that ever happened to me! Keep up the good videos sir! It’s fun to brush up on these again!

    In Oki brand new to the island long ago, I received a Red Cross message of a death in the family. My company SgtMajor was on vacation but still on the island and he showed up in warm ups to get my leave orders going, but sako couldn't get me a flight back from conus for 3 weeks because of Christmas and new years. I didn't have enough leave so I would have to owe. SgtMajor approved it and sent me down the hall to get orders to depart the next day. StaffSGT there denies it because I don't have the balance to cover. I rushed back to catch SgtMajor as he was locking his door. We walked down there, he says point out this StaffSGT, I do. He calls the StaffSGT over and says print this Marine his orders, StaffSGT says, He doesn't have the..SgtMajor points down at his signature and and says I Already Approved It, This Marine Will Wait Right Here, So Print Them StaffSGT. His demeanor changed, his voice went to a higher octave, Yes SgtMajor. StaffSGT proceeded to hand them off to a LCPL when SgtMajor said, StaffSGT You Print Them Now. I thanked SgtMajor and he went home, StaffSGT gave me my orders quick.
    When I reached Cpl I did my best to look out for my Junior Marines the same way SgtMajor did..pay it forward.

    Ashamed to say I never served, but I do have a story about a retired Master Guns. He was a fishing guide on a small charter boat he retired to. Guy was a solid rock of muscle and had a voice like low gravel. Right away I'm afraid of this guy. But man, when we got on the water, it was time to learn, and he never had to raise his voice. I'd be drifting off, not paying attention, and I'd feel just a little knock in my mid back, fish was on the line. Learned a lot. Guy was a great instructor. Nothing but respect for him and for all of you.

    When I became a sergeant, I was made Company Scrounger. It was the easiest job ever because we had a Sergeant Major in our unit.
    If I needed anything, and thought I would get any flack, I just said “the Sergeant Major wants…..”.
    If they called called him, he would ask who was asking, and then chew them out for not giving it to me right away.
    SgtMaj Goram always backed me up even though he rarely knew why I was asking for something.

    When I was in high school, I was in the N.J.R.O.T.C.(Navy Junior Reserve Officer Training Corps), our instructors were a Captain (who happened to be a Chaplain) and a Marine Corps Master Gunnery Sergeant. These two men taught the course in two ways. The Captain gave lectures and discussed the chapters in our Naval Science textbook. The Master Gunnery Sergeant supervised drill practice and rifle squad. The Master Gunnery Sergeant told us many stories about his experiences in Korea and in Vietnam. The Captain also told some stories. Both were retired from active service but, the Master Gunnery Sergeant was later promoted to Captain before he passed away.

    • @SFMF247
      @SFMF247  Год назад

      Thx for the question- seems to be some confusion out there. Here’s how it works: you’re able to select which path you’d like to take- 1stSgt or MSgt. But it’s up to the Marine Corps to decide which one you’ll actually get to be.
      It’s all dependent on “the needs of the Corps”. Hope that helps.
      And no, a MSgt would NOT go on to be SgtMaj. No transfer. No selection. No go. Doesn’t happen.
