Enlisted Ranks in the Marine Corps

  • The chain of command for the Marine Corps ranks is divided into two groups: Enlisted Marines and Marine Officers. The majority of Marines are enlisted.
Enlisted Marines begin at the most junior ranks: private, private first class, and lance corporal. Private has a paygrade of E-1, and each rank has a corresponding paygrade from E-1 through E-9.
The next giant leap after lance corporal is to non-commissioned officer, or NCO.
The NCO ranks are comprised of corporal, then sergeant, followed by the most senior ranks in the Corps: staff NCOs. The staff NCO ranks, in order, are: staff sergeant or gunnery sergeant-and master sergeant or first sergeant. The single highest-ranking enlisted Marine is the Sergeant Major of the Marine Corps, who serves alongside the Commandant.
Each enlisted Marine, no matter how junior or senior, is trusted with the responsibility of ensuring the welfare of our country now and into the future.

About the United States Marine Corps:
The Marine Corps defends the people of the United States at home and abroad. Within every Marine is the willingness to engage and determination to defeat any adversary, and it is this fighting spirit that allows us to fight and win our Nation’s battles.
The mission of the United States Marine Corps is made up of three promises: We make Marines, we win our Nation’s battles, and we develop quality citizens prepared to fight and win battles.
You don’t join the Marines-you become one, forged in the crucible of training aboard our recruit depots on Parris Island, South Carolina, and in San Diego, California, or through the dedication required of officer candidates at Officer Candidates School in Quantico, Virginia. Beyond the physical requirements, aspiring Marines must prove they have the honor, courage, and commitment to face and defeat any obstacle.
Today, more than 180,000 enlisted Marines and 23,000 Marine Officers serve in active duty or reserve forces on bases and in communities around the world, proudly carrying with them the core values of the Marine Corps.

Isn't there a joke about 3 lieutenants at a river. They find a genie. Last one wishes to be smarter do he becomes a sergeant, looks at his map and finds a crossing 200 yards up river? I can't recall the joke.

    • @harshbansal7982

@@thes.a.s.s.1361 I think the joke was that lieutenants confront a river and have to cross it. . Then some genie appears and tells them he’ll give them something to help them cross it . First one asks for really strong arms but he drowns anyway . Then the seconds asks for a small boat but it sinks . Then the 3rd asks for a sergeant who tells him to look at his map and the lieutenant realises there’s a bridge 200 yards from here .

I understood what boot camps' goal was, and THAT is the key. I went through boot camp in 1968, and i knew we were all going to Viet Nam. This, without question, would be the most difficult time of our lives. Boot Camp got us prepared for that time. My drill instructors were the best Marines I had met throughout my enlistment. Facts: PFC - you should obtain coming out of boot camp, top bad ass will graduate LCPL, that won’t be you. By the time you finish Combat Training or your MOS, kick ass and you’ll graduate LCPL. Keep kicking ass getting more certifications and you’ll be recommended for NCO school and become a CPL. At this point, everyone knows the fastest way to rank up from here is becoming a DI, RECON, or some sort of instructor at the least. Above all, combat tours will rank you up. Staff Sergeant will be your highest rank until you learn to play politics and make the right moves. Gunnies are old for a reason and command/deserve full respect! Everything after that you won’t see much, they’re always dealing with officers. First Sergeants are cool, highly intelligent, but still tap dance higher rank officers. Don’t Fck with WOs and CWOs, they all have psychological problems. The only thing worse than all the above, WOMEN MARINES! Stay away at all costs! Even from the few cool ones. You’ve been warned!

Learn something new every day. I never knew that Master Sergeant in the Marines was a different career path. The Army (which was my branch) has the Master Sergeant which transitions to First Sergeant. After a tour as a First Sergeant, you would transition back to Master Sergeant until either being promoted to Sergeant Major or retiring. The Army then has another Sergeant Major rank , Command Sergeant Major and then CSMA (CSM of the Army).
All three Sergeant Major ranks are the same grade (E9).

The 1995 Okinawa rape incident took place on September 4, 1995, when three U.S. servicemen, U.S. Navy Seaman Marcus Gill and U.S. Marines Rodrico Harp and Kendrick Ledet, who were all serving at Camp Hansen on Okinawa, rented a van and kidnapped a 12-year-old Okinawan girl. They beat her, duct-taped her eyes and mouth shut, and bound her hands. Gill and Harp then raped her, while Ledet claimed he only pretended to do so out of fear of Gill.[1] The incident led to further debate over the continued presence of U.S. forces in Japan. The offenders were tried and convicted in Japanese court by Japanese law, in accordance with the U.S.-Japan Status of Forces Agreement. The families of the defendants initially claimed that Japanese officials had racially discriminated against the men because they were all black and coerced confessions from them, but later retracted the claims.

And when you say they are taught to rape and murder that is false. While that may have happend you are only using that as an example of why the US military is bad cause they were service members. The military did not teach them to rape 12 year old girls while on deployment. And yea they kinda have to learn not to hesitate on pulling the trigger so they can fulfill their duty to the US and save lives. And don't blame us for wanting resources. and then you teach them to Murder and RAPE

ATTENTION: I have a serious-question if there are any actual mature-adults that can have a discussion without turning into a bunch of weirdos...
    1. Why is it that I constantly hear military and ex-military always refer to themselves as serving the "country", when in fact they are serving a foreign-owned operation??? and they seem to always expect some sort of praise for that???
The facts are that construction-workers serve the country, by actually building things and constructing benefits... However, if the same construction-workers banded together as an American Continental Army[militia], without being financially- compensated by United States Inc., they would be deemed by the United States Inc. as homegrown-terrorists and a Potential Threat???
So, just using basic logic, 1+1=2 logic, would suggest did anyone who serves, is doing nothing more than serving the foreign-owned Corporation, and themselves... But here's the kicker... Are they really serving themselves??? Because you could serve for 20 years, in the name of "freedom", and when you become a civilian, get arrested simply for walking across the street when a sign told you not to walk, "jaywalking", and that's just one example, they have thousands of other reasons to arrest you, on their books... And it's all for United States Inc, financial-gain
The movie "Rambo" is a prime-example of the actual true dynamics, of the relationships between United States Inc and the American people... Yes, it is a movie however, in reality, there have been tens of thousands of cases that are very similar to the beginning of the conflict that arose in the movie.
Here's another example, all of my life I've heard everybody refer to the Marines as the "Marine Core", not the Marine Corps(e)[as in "corporation"]... I've never heard a single man or woman refer to the Marines as the Marine Corporation??? My personal opinion is that that's how genius the human farmers are, can pretty much how stupid the average American is...
Also, "Soldier", the keyword is "sold", because "they", the corporation, has contracted to buy your time and energy so that you will take direct-orders without any questions or suffer the consequences...
So to wrap it all up, you contract with a corporation, who claims to be in the business of saving lives, however, there is no real actual verifiable proof of that...
Again if you really wanted to be a "hero" then why would there not be an independent American Continental Army
Don't get me wrong whatever you want to do is your business and I really don't care, it's just very disturbing that there is always this implied idea, and manipulation, by that serving a foreign corporation, I now owe you a debt of gratitude, even though a pig can walk up to me on the street start harassing me kick the shit out of me throw me in jail and make up anything that they want, and I am stuck with the burden the lost in time and energy trying to unfuck the wad-of-shit that they threw on my table... And many of them are X-military??? That's not "Freedom" that's a fucking nightmare!!! And if you don't think that is, then I do not and I would not want to share any physical-space with you... And then your United States Corporation will go out of their way to make sure that they put in as many obstacles as they can to prevent their slaves from leaving their Plantation???
Here's another tidbit... Are the veterinarians of the Vietnam Conflict heroes? Did they serve their "country"? It's my understanding that most of them were drafted against their will... It's also my understanding the United States Inc felt at the time that it was necessary to stop the spread of Communism... However, 30 years later nearly 85% of everything that you own was manufactured in China, and last I check one of the most communist countries on the planet???
Is literally like living in the fucking 'Twilight Zone" here
Can anybody answer any one of the questions and/or make any sense of anything that I just said???
So if you're a young man, and chicken the s*** out of people potentially killing them is your kind of thing, then why join a corporation that's going to treat you like you're worthless and pay you like you're scum... Be smart!!! Be a mercenary that gets paid, sold[ier] to the highest bidder!!! Like some BLACKWATER shit!!! cuz at the end of the day if no one was getting paid nobody would be doing a damn thing!!! That's what I would tell my son, if he wanted to be a "hero"
    :END OF QUESTION:
    ------------------
    Other points to ponder:
The "war in Iraq"... It wasn't even technically a "war", it was an unlawful, however, legal invasion... Just like they refer to the "Vietnam War", however, that too was not lawful, the actual correct terminology is the "Vietnam Conflict"
What's the deal with the word "vet" in "veteran" which is the root word for veterinarian??? Veterinarians take care of animals... Is it due to the fact that military forces are superior, because of their superior position to remove life??? After some study, I found that "Humans" and "Monsters"
This all kind of coincides with one another... And the facts are that it's the dictators that will dictate the perception, therefore, veterans in veterinarians kind of coincide...
    Hence the word "dog-tags"??...etc...
    Definition of "person"
    n. 1) a human being. 2) a corporation treated as having the rights and obligations of a person. Counties and cities can be treated as a person in the same manner as a corporation. However, corporations, counties, and cities cannot have the emotions of humans such as malice, and therefore are not liable for punitive damages unless there is a statute authorizing the award of punitive damages.
    ~ dictionary.law.com/Default.aspx?selected=1516
    Definition of "Monster"
    2. A monster, although born of a woman in lawful wedlock, cannot inherit. Those who have however the essential parts of the human form and have merely some defect of conformation, are capable of inheriting if otherwise qualified. 2 Bl. Com. 246; 1 Beck's Med.
