Officer Ranks in the Marine Corps
HTML-код
- Опубликовано: 6 окт 2024
- To commission as a Marine Officer is both a great honor, and a great commitment-to the Corps, our Nation and its people. Regardless of rank, America counts on Marine Officers to lead Marines into battle and win.
Second lieutenant, first lieutenant and captain are the first three officer ranks, and those who earn them are referred to as company-grade officers.
Promotion to the rank of major is a significant milestone for Marine Officers, as they join lieutenant colonels and colonels as field-grade officers. The final promotion in the field-grade officer ranks is to colonel.
Rising to the rank of General is a great honor. Each of the general ranks is also associated with one-star up to four-stars and includes brigadier general, major general, lieutenant general and general.
The most senior officer rank is four-star general, referred to simply as general. These top-level officers are nominated by the President and must also be confirmed for duty by the Senate. The highest-ranking Marine Officer, the Commandant of the Marine Corps, is also a four-star general and serves on the Joint Chiefs of Staff.

About the United States Marine Corps:
The Marine Corps defends the people of the United States at home and abroad. Within every Marine is the willingness to engage and determination to defeat any adversary, and it is this fighting spirit that allows us to fight and win our Nation’s battles.
The mission of the United States Marine Corps is made up of three promises: We make Marines, we win our Nation’s battles, and we develop quality citizens prepared to fight and win battles.
You don’t join the Marines-you become one, forged in the crucible of training aboard our recruit depots on Parris Island, South Carolina, and in San Diego, California, or through the dedication required of officer candidates at Officer Candidates School in Quantico, Virginia. Beyond the physical requirements, aspiring Marines must prove they have the honor, courage, and commitment to face and defeat any obstacle.
Today, more than 180,000 enlisted Marines and 23,000 Marine Officers serve in active duty or reserve forces on bases and in communities around the world, proudly carrying with them the core values of the Marine Corps.

Most of all, moving into the General ranks is very poltical.
@@patsonlim528 Sorry to disappoint you Patson, but every social change in this country has began in the military where POLITICIANS hold the $$$ and can force actions onto the military. I retired from active duty in 1999 and even then there were things we could not say, there were social experiments that we had to participate in. There is not one single Marine Corps General who thought it was a good idea to move females into direct combat roles. But, the politicians, many of whom have never served felt they knew better, so here we are. Twenty Seven females have attempted Marine Infantry Officer School and all failed. Next step? Lower the standadrs so the women can pass. Just like with fire fighters, police and other physically demanding jobs where gov't funding at all levels is controlled by vote seekers. Lower the standards so a woman can pass and the politicians can brag.
Mike l the point of standards is to ensure you’re able to handle the physical stress. The physical demands of the job don’t drop simply because the standards dropped or your standards are lower. Dropping it for females is putting females who are PROVEN yo be incapable of handling the physical stress into those stress positions, and it gets men killed.
Lowering standards, defeats the very purpose of standards

Wow, that’s a lot to take in. I would be lying that I’m not intimidated from seeing what it takes to be a high ranking officer. Those marines have proven themselves through the years not to be disputed, so they have my respect.
Also, where does Warrant Officer factor in? Heard from a guy they’re rare like unicorns or that they’re a league of their own.
It's really not that much. The officer ranks are the same for all the branches except the navy.
Warrant Officers in most cases are more respected by enlisted, mostly because they are prior enlisted that may have reached E-6, then decided that they would lead as an officer. They are rare because of the amount of them are like finding a Colonel.
@@kendallrichardson4696 not really rare though. I have had at least one cwo in every unit i have been attached to and worked with. They are called unicorns but they are more common than you'd think. @@darkninjamandelta You might want to talk sooner than later. Look into PLC etc (whatever ROTC equivalent you have during law school) because I think the cut off for the Marines is commission before the age of 28. You can commission while attending law school (to my awareness); which could solve that potential problem. But talk to them sooner than later. Also, it’s much easier getting in that way as opposed to trying to go directly from civilian. AND, I think you get time in grade while in law school so sooner promotion once officially joining.
