WWF Smackdown Just Bring It is the first game in the Smackdown series to arrive on the Sony Playstation 2. Improvements were made in every aspect with Just Bring It featuring more realistic gameplay, a new robust creation suite that allowed players to build custom superstars with a ton of customization options, a new story mode was added with branching storylines, and the roster itself featured guys like Stone Cold Steve Austin, The Rock, Triple H, Edge, The Undertaker and... Fred Durst.
Smackdown Just Bring It on PS2 was the first true evolution of the Yukes wrestling engine and subsequent Smackdown games (such as Shut Your Mouth and Here Comes The Pain) would build upon the foundations established in Just Bring It.

The weird thing about the roster being outdated and not having any of the WCW/ECW guys from Invasion, is that if you look up the default stables that are in the game, there is one called "Federation Defectors" which includes wrestlers who jumped from the WWF to the Alliance in the Invasion! So they excluded all the new Invasion roster and didn't have Invasion in the story mode but they had a stable of Invasion defectors. So weird!

I owned the first 2 SD! games, but didn't get a PS2 until Christmas '02. So I went from Smackdown 2 to Shut Your Mouth.... which was obviously mindblowing. I wasn't able to finally play Just Bring It til almost a year later, and by that point I'd already spent hours upon hours of playing SYM, so it felt super redundant and old when I did check out JBI.
The 1 major issue about JBI is the save file on the memory card. It was so god damn large that you'd need an extra memory card JUST for it. I'm glad the games that came after it didn't have that issue. 1 thing not talked about in this video is how you can fight in the audience. That's one of the coolest things, and they didn't keep that as a feature for so many years.

The CAWs were very good for the times. You would go to smackdownhotel forums and had all of the invasion wrestlers. If you followed every meticulous detail you'd have caws that were very "real" compared to the actual wrestlers in game.

@17:15 “I go to the parking lot, and what’s this creepy little b****** doing here? He seems like he doesn’t have time for poor little Crash Holly. He says he’s busy. Probably forking out some hush money? I don’t know!”
    This part was fantastic. 😂😂😂

I remember being so underwhelmed by Just Bring It when it was released. I was a lot younger so did not appreciate the difficulty of the generation console leap the devs must have had. The career mode frustrated me with how short it could be, the commentary I switched off, and the roster was probably the most out of date in any Smackdown game to date.
In saying that your review has made me think it was probably a lot better than I gave it credit for and I was being a spoilt brat :) I will say though Shut Your Mouth was the game I was expecting Just Bring It to be! SYM was amazing and a true generation upgrade, so much fun with that game and then Yukes followed it up with their opus in HCTP!

This came out the same day Survivor Series 2001 took place. So from that standpoint the game was not very outdated, because the next day all WCW wrestlers were kayfabe fired.

I put more hours into the PS2 Smackdown games than I care to admit. Let's just say I went through 2 consoles and multiple memory cards. I used every slot in the Create a Wrestler mode. I would even make the same roster of guys in every game. I miss those days.
As far as I know, Just Bring It and Shut Your Mouth are the only two games that Molly Holly has ever officially appeared in. She had one of the best move sets. Recreating her in later games was always fun.

The Flight Club video game used a Limp Bizkit song too. Fred was a playable character in that game as well.
I could be wrong but I think I remember reading somewhere that Fred never asked for royalty payments. He just wanted to be in the games.

I distinctly remember the unlockables and it having what I would call "diminished returns" as your save file on your 8mb memory card would inflate quicker than fuel prices.
I'm pretty fairly certain it once everything was unlocked it was around 6.1mb. - Case in point you'd need a memory card exclusively for the game if you wanted to keep everything.

When my brother and I got our first PS2 this was a demo for either one of the gaming mags or the disc that came with the console. We absolutely fuckin rinsed that demo until we had enough pocket money to finally buy the full game. The step up in quality was insane back then from the smack down ps1 games. Good memories and the start of a good run of WWF/E games on PS2
