Toyota doesn't make a new truck for 20 years and then hits us with an awesome lineup of off-roaders. I'm here for it. Hopefully the powertrains will hold up.
Man I dont know the 4-runner looks super good IMO I think for whats been announced this year I would rate the least good looking to best 3. Camry 2. Landcruiser 1. 4-runner tho if we throw the lexus counterpart in the gx550 that sweeps the floor
"The one to get" 😂😂😂😂. Good luck getting any model. I'm from Toronto and called the biggest dealer in area when they launched the land cruiser. I wanted to order one. They said they have so many names on list they wouldn't even put me in the line to get one. Good luck ordering one, maybe you can get in USA but good luck in Canada.
Gonna be in hi demand is an understatement... Good luck... Although I agree that simple white with steelies and hard touch plastic is perfect! Love the factory road tires too. Too many dudes with mud terrains going to hit the gym and Safeway. Nice video!
I love that Toyota is giving people two very different looks for the front end. They both look fantastic. I'd have serious problems trying to decide. 😄
How did the vehicle change from the “1958” version back to the original version (with the straight headlights) during the off road cutaways?! Seems a bit strange fella’s!
only for some of the shots. I agree it was an odd thing to do, but only happened a couple of times at only one point in the video. Might've gotten some corrupted video for a few shots or something.
I like them both. The 2025 4Runner is sportier looking and has better clearance (for those who actually offroad). The J250 LC has more of a Euro look to it. Interiors are a push...really comes down to the screen style you prefer (too bad NO screen isn't an option). The 4Runner offers the 3rd row, which will unfortunately make it the only option for some.
Great review, but the editing, from going from the Blue b-roll to the White Land Cruiser drove me crazy. Like which one did you actually review? I still want the 1958 version regardless
@@mysteriousoklahoma777 you need to have you’re eyes checked haha the GX is the high earning executive who also does Ironmans of SUVs the LC looks like something his kid would drive. Still nice but fun and spunky, not slick and chiseled
I think the main reason they didn't bring the 300 series to North America is because we have the Sequoia. Basically they fill the same spot in the lineup to most consumers but the Land Cruiser is more capable and more expensive. So when people wanted a full size Toyota SUV they had to choose between the two. The Sequoia was offered with lower trims that were much cheaper while the Land Cruiser was only offered in the very top trim. So this raises the question: Why didn't Toyota kill the Sequoia and offer lower trims for the LC like what they have in literally every other market? The Sequoia has been around for about 20 years while the LC has been around for over 60 and has become an automotive legend. With the Sequoia gone and with a lower price tag the Land Cruiser would have sold very well. Now we have the Prado which fills the same space as the 4runner but once again is offered with fewer trims and a higher price tag. Then you have the Lexus GX which is only a little more money but with a better engine, more equipment, nicer interior and the bragging rights of owning a Lexus. So basically the new LC is going to most likely flop. They should have just killed the Sequoia and given us the 300 series.
Probably removable with several bolts based on older models. There may be a airbag sensor you may not want to trip though. I'm sure overlanders will be doing this as soon as they get them. I'm curious to know aswell
Too bad it’s a Turbo 4 Cylinder. I would buy one if it wasn’t. I had a Turbo 4 in a Jeep Wrangler and they are not at all ideal for off roading!! The turbo kicks in when you don’t want it to and you lurch. I went back to a naturally aspirated V6. Much smoother and controlled throttle response.
We will be on the hunt to replace our 16 year old ML350. We really love the idea of the hybrid. Would not want 3rd row option. But not so crazy about the 8 cubic feet of cargo space you lose (seats in place) vs the Lexus LX 550 because of the battery according to the spec sheets. When we pack our current SUV it is full. Just need to see it and measure it. The GX550 Overtrail is pretty cool too, just not a hybrid....yet.
The lack of a 3rd row option in the NA market seems a horrendous decision. Hopefully it's just because they expect initial demand to be so high. They need to make that available at some point.
@@Mycameron2323 nah, the reality is most people buying this won't be going off road. Just people who like to think they will, or want others to think they will, or they just like the space. Same as with all SUVs (including Land Cruisers) in the last 30 years.
@@johnathoncastro they literally sell this with a 3rd row elsewhere and the 4Runner offers it, so clearly Toyota does have that market in mind as well in this size vehicle. Sequoias and Tahoe's are too big for most. Some just need the 3rd row as an occasional option and don't want a land yacht. The Sequoia is also...let's say cosmetically unfortunate.
Europe gets three rows because their base model is a diesel engine, therefore there is no hybrid battery in the back allowing for the necessary amount of headroom for a third row. With the hybrid in the back, there isn’t enough space between the cargo area and headliner to safely seat occupants.
I wouldnt trust a battery located at the bottom to be waterproof forever; wrote off my offroad version of the Merc GL that way. Water got in the battery (under floor) and the insurer didn't want to give their lifetime warranty on repairs as electrical issues could pop up anywhere down the line. The wading depth was 60 cm; I was driving with water at just below door level...
It looks like they kind of do, just when they show it they tilt forward to give access for people climbing into the imaginary 3rd row. That's my hope anyway but would have to see one in person and climb back there to see if I can sleep in it like my 4runner.
These government emissions mandates are ridiculous. And this is why auto makers have to squeeze the kind of power they are with electric motor assist. And of course they are deeming it new tech in vehicles when it's really mandated and justify charging what they do. What a racket.
Basically all SUV’s and trucks are a racket, these are just the top for those aspirational outdoorsy types that 90% of those purchasers will never actually go do. But hey, gotta keep up with the Jones’s! Especially those Jone’s down the street using all that gas to enjoy the uh, outdoors!
This is why Canada needs to develop their own vehicle regulations and adopt EU regulations, rather than only following US mandates which is why we can’t get any of the better vehicles in Canada is because of this reason.

I love how all these reviews like this is so off-road worthy while they drive on a dirt road. Someone please buy one and really take it on a trail
The 2nd or 3rd owner might actually off-road it lol
Picking mine up today and plan on wheeling it like I do my 4runner :)
I wish there was an option with no screens, just simple gauges, and a simple 6 cylinder engine, but this is still cool.
Impressive power figures for a four cylinder. I hope these don’t overheat.
