Nobody tells a tale the way Alan Doyle tells a tale, and here at the very first Atlantic Bubble Tour gig, Alan tells the tale of the time he flew into St. John's Airport on Russell Crowe's private plane, attracting much interest from the local transportation and customs officials at the airport, most of whom had been playing Rec League Hockey with Alan at the time. All of this is a perfect preface to the beautiful, heartfelt song he and Russell would later co-write, a song that clearly expresses Russell's own first impression of Newfoundland as a place unlike any he had ever been in before (yes, there's a blip in the song because Alan's intro was so long my camera battery ran out, causing a need to a quick battery change). I was supposed to see him in Quebec city in april 2020 but then the pandemic happened... It was a gift to myself to celebrate the fact that I finally graduated from university. I was ready to finally meet one of my favorite human being. I wanted to bring one of his books so he could've signed it. But mostly I wanted to hear 2 songs. Boston and St-Johns and Where I belong. I'm from a really small village in Nothern Quebec call Chibougamau. We are really isolated from the rest of the province, but it's home. I went to Quebec city for 6 years for college and university. Far from everyone I love. The song Where I belong helped me so much and made me realize that one day, I would get back home with my family and friends. Going back home. It's going to be difficult for me to meet you one day Alan since I'm really far for most of the music venues you play, but I hold on to that dream and believe that one day, I'll get to hear your stories and your songs.
