I've enjoyed it since I was a kid. Easily the best X-Men game ever. And there are people still finding out some speedrunning exploits and stuff, it's really fun to run!
Yep just got this game the other day and playing it for the first time. I will second this. It is Easily the best X-Men Game. Anyone of the best games on Genesis IMO. For me it's a damn near perfect Action-Platformer. Wish I'd played it as a kid I only ever played the original and Adamanteum Rage (which I love fight me). Best X-Men game on Console anyway. That Arcade game though 🔥
I really liked your review. I have fond memories of this game. I remember from an early age really liking the character designs compared to the first game. It looks like Jim Lee drew the characters himself and put them in the game or something. Psylocke especially looked cool with her tall fashion model physique. The game was super hard though, and the invincibility and 99 lives cheat were almost necessary in my opinion. Didn't know about a potential sequel being developed. Would have been cool. Too bad they didn't pull the trigger on that one.
Awesome vid! This is still one of my fav X-Men games. If I could add one character, it would've been Rogue. I'd give her a hover like Magneto, an upper cut, and dive-bomb attack. I also thought Nightcrawler was a bit disappointing coming from the first Genesis game, but it's awesome watching speed runners with him. He's still quite useful for a handful of teleport skips.

I still get out my X-Men 94' 95' and 96' cards that I have in a sacred binder. Even to smell them once in a while (weird? not sorry, brings me back to a better time) and nostalgia is a powerful drug. We used to all have our own characters and go on missions around the neighborhood or while camping. Taping cut coat hangers to work gloves to be Wolverine...was a thing.

They should remaster this game with the exact same game but sprites more detailed and every alternative costume for each character like wolverine can have weapon x, cyclops with brown jacket and astonishing cyclops costume in movie costumes also clothes start wearing and tearing after certain damage maybe even more levels and enemies added like mr sinister, genosha x mansion morlock sewers also few more x men like bishop jubilee among and add flying characters like rogue storm for their own flying levels.
To me, this a game I can play so many times, the graphics, the music, the difficulty the characters is just sooo good. Never beat it, because its so damn hard but thats why I love it
I’ve still got my full sets of cards and toys out of box I played the shit out of those things just recently re baught a genesis to play this game I had it 20+years ago and sold all my Nintendo and sega stuff for a crappy n64 and got really pissed when I didn’t get enough money to buy n64 outright so I finally said screw it im buying another sega lol
What’s the deal with Beast’s art? No one could ever get it right except for the xmen cartoon. Even when he was on the spidermin show, they couldn’t draw beast correctly.

I'm really surprised that you didn't like Magneto. I thought he was easily the best character. His special attack is slow, but the thing is that you can be far away from enemies, and even on the other side of a wall and blow them up. You have to be patient and go slowly through the later levels with him and use that attack. And his ability to levitate is what allowed me to finally beat the game, as I was able to easily avoid the attacks of that... Whatever it is toward the end, and then the X-Men clones. It was also neat how each character had a unique skill-set that was useful in at least one level. It made me have to use all of the characters to get through the game. The best way to beat this game is to just have tons of patience and anticipate an enemy at every corner. If you try to hurry up, you're not going to get very far, unless you're one of those people who play games for thousands of hours and master everything to the point of being able to run through levels almost with their eyes closed. Most of us don't have that kind of time.
Love seeing xmen the way they used to be. Not to so hot on the new comics though. :( Think I'm the only one who gives the 1st game a break. It's difficult but it is possible to make your way through it. Honestly think the 2nd game is easier that the 1st.
This is my favorite X-Men game ever. It had a feeling that no other X-Men game had. The 90s was the best.

Me and my cousin only managed to beat the game once with no cheats lmao 🤣 I enjoyed it better then the first game that game was fucking brutal

Spent just about everyday playing this game from the age of 6 (in ‘96) till around the age of 9 (in ‘99). So many great memories in this game

Im always Wolverine. Ive beaten the game with others but its always Wolverine. Kinda wished I had saved so many Genesis carts+instrucions. Who knew?
Once of my favorites. It hold onto AAAAAAAALLL the edginess that the X-Men had in the 90s. I loved that and I still do.
I always really liked the diving air attacks (down+attack in air). Nightcrawler bouncing an enemy until it dies is mad funny.
I guess that part where you escaping the exploding sentinel compound was ripped off from metroid.
X-men 2: Magneto Boogaloo was my favorite of the entire series!
The way you pronounced Phalanx and Sauron were distracting, but this was an excellent review and got me super nostalgic.
Good game. But how about just an awful platforming on the phalanx ship level? It's almost impossible to beat it in 2 players mode XD
