I 've often heard fans complian about how Marvel writers like to torture Spiderman. Considering that it's Sony that owns the Spiderman film franchise, and not Disney, I now wonder how much of this torture is just normal and how much of it is encouraged by Disney.
Being someone that's collected X-men comics since the mid 80s I've witnessed Disney's attempts at destroying the X-men first hand, especially thru the comics and it's been so frustrating. Now that they own these characters I see the pathetic attempt to rectify their damage.
Oddly enough, mutants could be the answer that Disney/Marvel Studios needed to get "Blade" out of its developmental funk. It's not that tough -- Blade finds vampires, he fights them, he ends them, and moves on. But... what if there were a REALLY old vampire? And.. what if said vampire were a mutant? One exists -- her name is Selene. Just have the Daywalker deal with Selene and her army. This movie would be the bridge between the Midnight Suns (you know they're gonna make a movie with them) and the X-Men.

@FilmTheory number one, I can't reply to ya'lls comment because the reply button is gone but more importantly. My mutant ability would be "Adaptation". Basically, I would constantly adapt to any situation and phenomenon. For example, if someone shoots me I'll adapt defenses against bullets and adapt a means of recovering from the damage I've taken. If someone blasts me with heat-vision of a fireball, I'll adapt defenses against thermal energy. If I get tossed into a lake and start drowning I'll adapt a means of breathing underwater. If I get chucked into space I'll adapt a means of moving through space as well as a defenses against the cold and I'll adapt away my need to breath. If I starve for long enough I'll adapt away my need to eat. If I die then I'll adapt a means of coming back to life. If my enemy has a strong defense then I'll adapt a means of hurting them. For the younger generation and for the anime fans, Think Mahoraga from Jujutsu Kaisen but mixed with Doomsday from DC comics and juiced up on steroids. As a side note, my physical human body won't ever look all that different, if at all, unless one of my adaptations requires a change to my physical appearance.

This debacle actually hit video games that involved Marvel Characters as well so not only movies, cartoons and comics that got hit. Marvel vs Capcom 3 is one of them where Capcom had to fight Disney Tooth and Nail to get X-23 into the roster, i dunno about Dr Doom though but i remember Super Skrull was added because either Iceman or Human Torch was a headache to the developers and practically asset reusing. And then Marvel vs Capcom Infinite which caused a massive backlash after the "Functions vs Functions" debacle all because Disney (via Marvel) did not approve to add X-men Characters into the game and of course Peter "Combofiend" Rosas can't pin the blame on Disney. This got mended with Marvel Ultimate Alliance 3 but i can't remember the X-men games after that other than Insomniac's Wolverine
Y'all are way behind the curve on this. Anyone that was paying attention during the last decade already knew that studio politics was destroying X-Men, Fantastic Four, and Spider-Man. The blame is not all on Disney. Fox and Sony deserve just as much blame, because they were constantly pushing out garbage movies just to maintain their hold on those properties, while refusing to sell them back to Marvel, where they belonged. Sony is still doing this with the side Spider-Man characters. That's why I was so glad Disney bought Fox to put an end to some of this nonsense. Now Marvel will be happy to include X-Men and Fantastic Four in anything they can. Now they will bring them back. Saying that we should be worried about what they do with them next is just because you want to hate on Disney when, in reality, now that they are back under Marvel's control, Marvel will do them right. I mean, we've already seen evidence of that with X-Men 97.
I actually noticed that the Inhumans were doing more X-men type plots in those years but I had no idea that Disney was actively pushing it! Thanks for the info!
The theory channels' viewers are known to watch videos on a large range of topics they might not already know about. Like me. I didn't know any of this. So it's perfect for that section of the audience
But this wasn’t a Disney directive, it was Ike perlmutter. You even said it in the video, so I’m so confused why you kept saying it was Disney when it was really marvel themselves.
This is an example of what's called the Fandumb Menace. Fans will see things from a twisted Nostalgia that their version of the thing is perfect or any changes are Heretical and thus try to blame it on everything they view as bad, from more women and POC characters to changes in franchise direction, the Fandumb has always got its Rose-tinted Nostalgia Goggles applied so tightly to their faces they might as well be blind. Fox also contributed to the issues by pumping out subpar X men films that did not do well except for Logan and that was because it was adapting a REALLY good story.
I DONT THINK THIS IS A REQUEST FOR FILM THEORY BUT I NEED THIS COVERED : if you can, please cover the Judyhoppsl0vr69 story. Its got pretty good lore now!

People are saying that since X-men ‘97 did so good they should revive the 90s Spider-man show. But you what, I say they should revive Wolverine and the X-men.
If their going to revive another X-Men series, I hope they do X-Men Evolution. That was the show I grew up. Also, they need to bring back Spectacular Spider-Man.
personally i feel it's redundant after watching 97. I say this as 97 feels like in it's DNA witholds all prior x-men shows in some form of capacity with how the show is paced, concept they present etc. the original show sacrificed a bit of character for stronger payoff whilst evolution was the opposite, 97 does both and executes it phenomally and wolverine and x-men has concepts such as genosha being a paradise and later we will see emma frost take charge and become an x-men herself

does anyone else think that in the Spider-Verse movies that Miles (or at least the spider part of miles) should be glitching in earth 1610 (his original universe), because spider 42 gave Miles its DNA and powers was from earth 42. and in the first movie we see the dead spider 42 glitching and we also see peter's explanation of "his atoms or DNA weren't real jazzed to be in the wrong universe" when we see peter glitching, and if you say that "Miles is still himself and wouldn't be glitching in his own universe" I would have to respond with, in the second movie Miles uses the "Go Home Machine" and it reads his DNA and figures out his dimensional signature and sends him to earth 42 not 1610 which shows that at least some of Miles's DNA is from earth 42 so wouldn't Miles be glitching in earth 1610 from the moment that the spider bit him and mutated his DNA.
@nimzi4479 i said "can be." And both can be true. The saboteur could be the extremely toxic fan they aren't mutually exclusive. Personally, i think disney needs to start over and jump so far ahead in the timeline that the material we currently have are now myths and legends.

The X-Men were great in the ‘80s.
After what happened with the sequel Trilogy in Star Wars I'd be surprised if there was a franchise out there that wasn't afraid of Disney

That would work

Just because the video has Disney as a focal point doesn't mean that fans with your mindset aren't the reason this was allowed to go on to begin with. Oh, this is an interesting point 🤔
To be fair, the last movies with Fox weren't that good. The last good one was Logan.
Was on a X-men marathon awhile ago… I realise the One Piece Devil fruit powers = X-men.
Devil fruit powers I believe were originally randomised, from very vague and anonymous fruit designs to how odd powers were. Only to be retconn and every devil fruit power is “fate”.
if all of Disney banning X-Men's merch is real, that could explain why Marvel vs Capcom Infinity didn't get to star the X-Men only to push MCU characters and also why only now MvC games are surging from their graveyard in the latest Nintendo Direct
That's 100% what happened.
Yeah... It was an open secret during it's entire, very short lifespan
Honestly the worst part about that was they kinda lied that the X-Men would appear later as DLC. Granted, I only said "kinda" because the game did pretty poor in sales so any future plans for that game were scrapped, so we'll never know if that was ever gonna hold true.
@@kongk4 I'd like to give Capcom the benefit of the doubt that they were working behind the scenes to try to convince Marvel to let them use X-men characters, but that it just wasn't going to happen until after Marvel crushed Fox
@@robertstull8759 I mean the "lie" was from Feige IIRC, and his statement about it was probably the first hint of Disney's Fox acquisition, which was properly announced three months after Infinite's release. So maybe they were hopeful to release them as DLC in 2019.
But to me that... is pretty unrealistic, even if Infinite did great in sales, the budget and return investment were mostly going towards the licensing. It would've had to outdo Capcom's Monster Hunter series to commit for that long.
You know, when I first watched the X-men animated tv show, I looked at my father and said, “I really like morph, he’s cool,”. My father just looked at me after that, with pain in his eyes. R.I.P Morph.
First time it was broadcast I had a similar thought.
One of the few from my youth I still remember, for it didn't shy away from the 'darker' side.
Morph's always been interesting to me. They were the show's OC, they were killed off immediately, then they were brought back, but not really as a member of the team, then they were, and now they're...a knockoff of Spider-Man's Chameleon? I feel for them the most because it really feels like no one knows what to do with them! An outcast among outcasts!
I think Lee is doing a great job of being a host 👍

Ideally I'd love to have Gambit's kinetic powers.
In actuality my current mutant power is that my chest hair already grows in the shape of the X-men X so I just wouldn't need to wear the suit I guess.

People are saying that since X-men ‘97 did so good they should revive the 90s Spider-man show. But you what, I say they should revive Wolverine and the X-men.
That show was great, but i say Spectacular Spiderman deserves it the most

There's a lot of Marvel cartoons that should be brought back.
personally i feel it's redundant after watching 97.
