Hey Pokemon Champions, what's going on?! It's Champion Blaze here and in the Pokemon XY anime we were introduced to the Kalos Champion: Diantha! She's known for her iconic Gardevoir that can mega evolve and she actually battled Ash twice throughout the XY anime! It's well known that Ash almost defeated Diantha with an imperfect Ash-Greninja transformation, but had they ever had a rematch after that - would he have won? Today we'll answer that question and see which team of pokemon is best suited to take down Diantha and her pokemon! But because Diantha appeared in both XY and Journeys, we'll be creating 2 teams for both series since his roster changes a lot between the 2 series. Let's see if Ash truly has the pokemon that can help him defeat the Kalos Champion!

"Krookodile being the perfect counter to Gardevoir"

LMAOOOOO. okay, but that's still the only move Gardevoir can use against Krookodile. So i'd still say it's pretty damn good counter.
@@ChampionBlazeDon’t forget about Gardevoir’s outstanding speed. It’s practically instantaneous, almost like instant teleporting.
Sure, Gengar was able to keep up with Pikachu during their Masters’ 8 training, but it also struggled at keeping up with Paul’s Metagross. Sure, Gengar managed to win after hitting Will O Wisp, but unlike Paul, I don’t think Diantha would let Will O Wisp hit Gardevoir on purpose.

Great teams! I love these choices, especially Lucario! Lucario is definitely a perfect choice to use against Diantha. Even Diantha’s Gardevoir’s speed might meet its match with Lucario’s bullet punch. Not to mention, the steel beam packs a serious punch too. If those moves could pack a wallop against a Gyarados, which is type resistant to Steel type moves, imagine what they could do against Rock, AND Fairy types.
I think a worthy honourable mention should go to Lycanroc! The Pokémon that won Ash an official Championship. I’m certain Ash would want make use of Counter, the same move that won him the Alola League, to take down at least one of Diantha’s Pokémon. If he brought out Lycanroc, he could effectively trick her into switching out one of her Pokémon, like say…Hawlucha, draw them in…and then BAM! 💥😵
On top of that, Ash could tweak Lycanroc’s moveset around a bit. Keep Accelerock and Counter, and maybe Stone Edge, especially if Ash could train it to alter the trajectory like Paul could with Torterra, or say, shoot the stones into the air like in the games. But I was thinking Ash could maybe teach his Lycanroc Iron Head or Iron Tail, which could add coverage against Diantha’s Rock and Fairy types. Plus, with a Steel type move, Ash could teach Lycanroc the same combo that Ash used for Pikachu, with Quick Attack and Iron Tail, only with Accelerock in Lycanroc’s case!
I think another honourable mention should go to Sceptile! It’s held its own against Legendary Pokémon, and it taught certain moves like Dragon Dance and Outrage, it could enhance its strength and speed even further, and Outrage can potentially one shot or at least seriously damage some of Diantha’s dragon types. Then once Ash uses Outrage, he can call Sceptile to return, then summon it back out to break the confusion! He can also potentially switch out Solar Beam for Solar Blade, or if Sceptile’s health is critically low, teach it Endeavour to bring an opponent’s health down to Sceptile’s amount. A powerful grass type could take down Aurorus, or at least bring it down to critically low health.
Not gonna lie, I was initially skeptical of Krookodile as a pick for Ash against Diantha. But now I realize if Ash summons Krookodile at the right time, against the right Pokémon, Diantha might not switch out when both Pokémon have a type advantage over the other, like Gourguist and Aurorus. If Ash prepares Krookodile with the right moveset, it “could” take the lead.
I think Ash would really need to play on the unpredictability card to defeat Diantha, especially if Diantha switches out a Pokémon that’s at a disadvantage against Ash’s.

Easy (Satoshi mode engaged): Pikachu, Greninja, Snorlax, Donphan, Sceptile, Charizard
Second team: Pikachu, Meganium, Inceneroar, Gibble, Swellow, Lucario
This is my version of Ash vs Diantha (including Pokémon that Ash has in my version of the anime that he doesn’t have in the actual series)
Diantha’s team
Gardevoir, Goodra, Hawlucha, Gourgeist, Aurorus, Tyrantrum
Ash’s team
Greninja, Sceptile, Lycanroc, Centiskorch, Froslass, Muk
This would be the final matchup
Ash-Greninja vs Mega Gardevoir
Since my battle would be after Ash’s World Champion win in my version of the battle Ash would win over Diantha
I think pikachu's z-move will not be a problem for diantha's mega gardevoir because she was able to control leon's charizard gmax wild fire easily which was equally powerful as pikachu's z-move as we saw in ash vs leon.
OMG imagine Diantha controlling 10,000,000 Volt Thunderbolt. Good Lord Pikachu would be screwed lmao.
Great teams
I know from an MANDJTV video that Diantha's team has a big Mawile weakness with 5/6th of her team being weak to Steel and/or Fairy (the exception being Gourgeist)
Therefore the Journeys team having Ash's sole Fairy type attack user plus his Mega Steel type were excellent choices
Melmetal for potential Gigantimax would've also been a cool pick
Yeah Melmetal would've been a good pokemon to use, but it just doesn't have enough battling experience. But Gengar and Lucario would absolutely wreck diantha! Thanks for watching! ^_^
Great Video but this is basically the same team as the BEST TEAM FOR LANCE video except replacing Dracovish for Lucario and Goodra for Infernape

Im actually using a tyrunt myself in my current Y playthrough. But even i agree dianthas battle with leon was treated poorly. And not just cause theyre the champs of my top 2 favorite regions.
