I feel like I ended Webtoon Week strong and with a really good video, so I'd really appreciate if you shared it with a friend you think would like it! I'm going on a break now. 7 consecutive days of uploads is already more than I ever envisioned myself doing, but the love, support, new subscribers, and all the comments I got really motivated me and made me feel like it was worthwhile. Thanks for everything, and until when next I return, this has been samuek607, logging out ❤
Hey @samuek607 , i want to ask you few questions. If you had the few bullet points that fully show what makes a OP protagonist good, great or perfect in your opinion what would it be? What are your thoughts on Ainz from Overlord as a OP protagonist? What would you think of the story in which not only a protagonist but also everyone around him was OP? And last question, what do you HATE and i mean ABSOLUTELY DESPISE about OP protagonists to the point you would want a person who made it first to be erased if not something worse?
dokja is overpowered in every way other than raw power, and i think that's what makes him so great. he's able to do crazy things like destroy the absolute throne because he has all sorts of loopholes and tricks up his sleeves, not necessarily because he just has the raw power to do it. that's why every time he succeeds it feels like a hard-earned victory. he's not just punching his problems away, he's doing all sorts of mental gymnastics and what not to survive all the time.
@@Nulnhility aCtuAllY.... If you didn't read the novel is spoiler Bruh, he wanted to die more times that the ones he wanted to live, but he did try to live, he even created the stigma "Will to live"... his other stigma "Sacrifice Will" is the one he uses the most, but hey, there it is
I think the thing I like about Dokja most as a protagonist is the way he feels realistic, despite the very unrealistic scenerio of the story. I enjoy the squad he forms through out the story and the way he interacts with the protagonist. He's not flawless, nor is he especially strong or good at fighting. His main weapon is his knowledge, intelligence, and finesse. He can't simply overpower the enemy, but he must find a way to out manouver them with the knowledge that he possesses....and he even makes mistakes along the way which have real consequences. As a novel reader, there's also quite a lot of backstory to this guy which makes him and his family dynamic REAL interesting, but will get to that once the manhwa adapts that part (which is pretty soon I believe)
I feel the same way, I love how he's given the kind of ability that should by all means let him coast through, but the story balances it out enough that he needs to be careful and witty about what to do because there are still real challenges and high enough opposition that he can't just get away with anything.
@@samuek607 yes..and everytime he do some trick you feel satisfaction, but ofc you might feel like " well he will have the solution for it" and might feel bored, but in orv all solution always have consequences either bad or good, not just bland yeah i have a trick and its 100% win rate, in orv it feels like it will be never 100% which is why i like it.
He's the most realistic character in the sense of despite being OP he doesn't realize it immediately nor does he gain extreme power in the beginning, in fact he finds out his true self wayyyy at the end as well as his childhood and past being that of any traumatized person but without the ' my family are serial killers or I was kidnapped and tortured' but rather something that could happen to anyone who doesn't have a strong mental state and an abusive family (member). I can sometimes relate to him when it comes to certain situations between negativity and positivity. I suppose I should say the line I'm known for in the ORV universe(s)! KDJ my beloved

Remember when someone asked if Dokja was a god/constellation? He answered "If I am a god, I would be the most omnipotent yet helpless." kind of thing (this is not the exact thing he said)
Yeah, I remember that! It was Lee Gilyoung who asked him, and he replied with "If I was really a god, then I was the most incompetent god in the world. The most helpless god in the world who knew everything but couldn't explain anything."

ORV is the series you can truly appreciate only after you finish it. The novel is truly a masterpiece, deep with multiple pararells, complicated lore, foreshadowing, amazing world and character building. The webtoon is literally on the first arcs when barely anything happened so I get if someone doesnt like it, but the novel is soooo worth it. My fav novel ever, the reread is somehow even better than the first read
Like they said, It’s not imaginable to be possible in real life at all but if it was written down as a couple of words then your mind would see it as comprehendible (i don’t know if i completely butchered that or not but yeah)
@@yourfriendlyneigborhoodzom953 you couldn’t possibly sit down, grab a paper, and write the lore of ORV since that’s some hyperbolic bullshit with time and space all fucked up plus the characters go back in time so often close to the final few chapters
He goes back in time but not really because it isn't the past but rather a weird alternate universe but not really an alternate universe, the timeline is the same but kind of different 👍
I especially like that KDJ (and by extension the rest of the main trio) just have that slight hint of bastard to them throughout. They develop well, but they’re all realistic in the fact that the number one goal is survival and are not afraid to take an “any means necessary” approach, even if it means acting counter to each other. (And this holds true in the late story as well when their bonds have developed well enough that they truly do want to fight for each other. It’s magnificent.) Thanks for the video!
@@forsakenfish id say its more like 1/5th or 1/4th, idr which chapter manhwa at but yeah the light novel is amazing, id even say itsmy all-time favorite and ive read my fair share of LNs :)
Legitimately ORV is a love letter to the craft of storytelling, with a deep appreciation for the role readers play in that process. It's actually life changing literature. It's just that you have to get to the last 20% of the novel to realize that.
YESSSS!!!! MORE PEOPLE SAYING KIM DOKJA IS AN OVERPOWERED PROTAGONIST DONE RIGHT!!!! YESSSS!!!! KIM DOKJA IS PERFECT 💖💖💖 (I've been trying to create a similar video since last month, but I still couldn't finalize it 😅 but compare to before, there's been more talk about Kim Dokja being a good OP Protagonist recently... Like this video... Am quite motivated haha 💖) I hope you'll create more Omniscient Reader content! I unfortunately only have 1 account for clicking the like button haha. This series needs more love (perhaps it will never have enough love... More Omniscient Reader love, the better) Thanks for the video. What a banger for the end of your webtoon week, hehe 💖
Thank you for all the loving words across so many videos, it really helped motivate me and keep me going knowing that someone out there liked what I was doing. I appreciate you watching the whole thing, and I glad to know someone feels the same about Dokja! I'll try my best to keep up the good work, and I wish you all the best with your video!
I really like how you explained this and talked about the main protagonist's personalities. As a fan of op protagonists I sometimes get irritated by their extremely kind or arrogant personalities. I don't feel like I'm really going anywhere too. I love seeing characters use their knowledge to outsmart everybody else and that is what Kim Dokja does. I also really love his personality because he isn't too humble or too arrogant.
Some of the protagonists with really extreme personalities are really hard to like because they end up kinda frustrating and unbelievable. That's something I really did appreciate about Dokja.
Before the Manhwa or Webtoon version came out, I noticed lots of female readers are hyping up ORV. I thought its just bcoz they love some Bromance, BL popularity is at its peak but I think FEMALE PORTRAYAL is also one of the reason Like from the get go. I see female characters having their own time to shine while not showing boobs/butts. Also, the author of is female, the one who completes the trio?! I haven't read the novel. I wonder if it continues to have good female portrayals ??????????
I haven't had the chance to read the novel either, but beyond just the female characters, the ENTIRE supporting cast is amazing, and that gives it a special charisma the teenage boys watching battle Shounen wouldn't appreciate.
the other day I was reading the novel and thinking "there's so many female characters " then I started counting and realized female cast is 50% of the main cast! comparing to other shows, anime, comics, etc its A LOT! Makes you think about how for every other story there's 1 girl every 4/5 guys
I honestly agree with the points you made, as a novel reader there was never a point where I thought what he did was because of plot armor, most of the things he was able to do was because he read the story and because he was smart.
Yes! I am fully suspended from my disbelief with him. He's using his knowledge to his advantage and his fourth wall abilities help him keep his head clear. Nothing feels off. Everything clicks into place well. And even though he can try his best to manipulate scenarios to his advantage, there's always a surprise, a change, an action he couldn't have expected. And it spices it up! That's when it gets interesting! Because it's not just his own life we have to worry about. It's all those other characters we've come to know too. And not even he knows if all of them will make it.
But he does have canonical plot armor due to being oldest dream self-insert character but if you didn't read the novel the just think of my rant as nothing
One thing that I love about ORV is that no matter how overpowered Kim Dokja gets (because he gets pretty high up there,) is that he's never quite at the top. There's always stakes to every fight and a lack of faith that he'll win because he *doesn't* win every fight. There's just as many fights that he wins as there are where things go completely wrong and leave Kim Dokja doing damage control. Yoo Joonghyuk is such an interesting commentary on the overpowered, bad mannered protagonist. He displays some of the negative characteristics of overpowered protagonists (over over powered, being an asshole), but it's used to turn him into a genuinely interesting side(?) character. Kim Dokja constantly needing and trying to manage him so he doesn't topple plans is so fun to watch. (referencing actual novel events after this. Spoilers.) Even after Dokja becomes a constellation; he's gains the attention of people far more powerful than him. In fact, after he becomes a constellation, he's at far more of a disadvantage than before because stronger nebulas are actively trying to get rid of him. Every battle is a struggle and Dokja has died so many times that you don't know if he'll do it again and have to find some alternate way to come back to his company. I absolutely adore how the stakes are always incredibly high. I spent the last 100 chapters on the edge of my seat, not completely sure how it would end or if the whole team (especially Dokja) would make it out intact. ORV is a great commentary on literary devices and it's a bit of a Frankenstein's Monster of stories in places, but that's the *point* and I love how the writers handle it.
This is a spoiler from someone who finished the novel This isn’t OUR wish fulfillment power fantasy, this is his wish fulfillment power fantasy. And I am forever traumatized by closing subway doors
"Omniscient Reader does a bang-up job of wish fulfillment." HAHAHA, sure. Until we get to the depth of the actual mystery. One thing I'll say about this as a novel reader is that a lot of things are just laid so bare right in front of us that the revelation truly does give the feeling of wish fulfillment. It's an excellent webtoon/ novel done right that will keep you and your brain on haywire until the end.
Dokja actually thought of every single shit wayyyy ahead of time thatswhy when he has a hidden card up his sleeve you're like "yeah that was smart" but then you realise it wasnt possible to have that loophole in his mind unless he was already formulating plan days ahead of the scenario i love my man and if u read the novel....uh he doesnt actually try "to keep himself alive"
fr, sometimes I wondered if he had been thinking of what he would do in that situation when he initially read the novel at age 15-28. I know that he knew the loopholes because of the novel, but if he had been thinking of it teases before the apocalypse, it would be so relatable 😭
I love Kim Dokja because of how much of a rat he is. Like in the 73rd demon realm arc he anonymously called one of his sponsors bald and that sponsor swore hostility to him and then when talking to that sponsor directly said it was the guy he was fighting in order to get more probability!
What I love about Dokja is that he uses his knowledge to get stronger not some cheat BS. He reminds me of myself and fellow gamers when we struggle with the game, beat it, learn how it works and proceed to own the game on NG+ Plus yoo joonghyuk is true OP protagonist so in comparison Dokja is not all that broken.
this is a nice video about what omniscient reader and kim dokja is on the surface, but i would be really excited to see how your opinions might change after the webtoon is completed/after finishing the book! there's more to it than meets the eye lol
I've been spoiled enough to know there's more than meets the eye! I've been keeping up with the Webtoon, and it really only gets better, so there'll definitely be a follow up video whenever I find the right topic
I have been reading novels for 4years now. Among them, a majority of part was covered by light novels. I can proudly say that OCV is by far the best one I've read yet.
then you read the ln and find talking dumplings, kdj becomes monkey kdj, an army of tiny yjhs, also he DEFINITELY triees to keep himself alive :wink wink:
Picked up ORV during 2021 and Ive been hooked to it since. The characters feel like they belong there and they dont feel out of place plus the dynamic between Yoo Joonghyuk and Kim Dokja is entertaining. Imma start reading the novel too coz I cant waitt for the whole manhwa to finish lol.
What I love about orv is that some of the most powerful characters in the story (Sun Wukong, secretive plotter, Uriel etc) are all introduced at the beginning of the story. Their character’s get developed very early on and they don’t simply exist to be powerful.
The shield hero mc is in a fantasy world. He's dressed correctly for his occupation. And I would say he's an op protagonist done right seeing as he doesn't have much offensive power, at least in the web novel. His whole deal is that he couldn't solve everything himself and needs companions.
Dokja is special for most of the readers because he represents us as readers and how we feel, our devastations, our anger, our pain and finally our helplesslessness at not being able to be there for our favorite characters. This book has echoed the sentiments of Roland Barthes and others who believed that more than an author's input or the words of a text, a reader's interpretation matters the most. Moreover, Barthes has been mentioned in ORV too. Thus, I love this story because of its ability to resonate with me as a hapless reader who feels so desolate at the prospect of bidding my favorite characters and books farewell once it ends or feeling like a futile bystander who understands the depth of of a book without being able to help them.
Solo levelling is good but Omniscient readers viewpoint is Peak I was searching for solo levelling replacement the I found Omniscient readers viewpoint first I read manhwa but manhwa is still ongoing and it's so good that I can't wait for updates that why i found it's Novel started reading from the start again and now I finished Orv and i can only say that if u read Orv you'll be 49% amazement and 51% Angst 😂 you'll understand if you read it so Again in My opinion Solo levelling is good But Omniscient readers viewpoint is peak you won't find Novel like that
Thanks for watching! I try to make sure what I say in my videos has meaning and gives people something they can take away, so I'm really glad you enjoyed it. I'll try my best to keep up the quality writing and provide even higher quality editing in the future!

10.08 -10.10 , so you know Naofumi's reason to make Rishia (the girl in small box) a slave is because his Slave User Shield abilities makes it easer & quicker for the people with slave crest to become stronger which is what Rishia herself wanted ,also the 2nd Season of the Anime leave out a bush of things & the events from after the Cal Mira Island Wave to the Spirit Turtle Arc & the events in Glass World ,& while in the Anime it show Raphtalia have Rishia to get Slave Crest in the Slave / Monster Trader guy's Tent what really happen is that Naofumi's party encounters Keel with Nice guy & with that keel ,& Rishia both want to get stronger to be help so Naofumi said something like "I make you 2 slave" or something like that. This is what happens in the Light Novel & Manga so you know the real reason he get to become his slave ,,
I did not read the light novel, but I did read the shield hero manga. Admittedly, the picture wasn't meant to be representative of that one specific instance, but the fact that he collects slaves at all, going all the way back to when he first bought Raphtalia. There are arguments for and against his decisions, but what I called him was "morally questionable"; that's something which is objective because he the fact is that he owns people, but I don't personally want to dive deeply into discussing so sensitive a topic.
@@samuek607, Naofumi reason to buy Raphtalia was so that he was not betray again & so that he someone attack in his place as his attack power is only 1 -3 that stop him Level Up to get strong ,while later with Keel & Rishia its ,because the Slave User Shield abilities makes it easer & quicker for the people that Naofumi makes his "slave" to get stronger ,,
@@samuek607 that’s fair, the act of him even considering to buy a slave was born out of his lack of trust in others after the events of the first impression he got and even in the context of the series it wasn’t meant to be seen as the right thing to do and the only person who even attempts to justify it is raphtalia who is admittedly a tad biased In other words it was designed to set a large contrast between his character at the very beginning and the kind of person he is now starting to become, specifically in the light novel the initial reason he chose raphtalia was because her eyes looked the same as the princess and at the time he believed all the creatures there were mindless beasts, it wasn’t until after he heard raphtalia scream in pain to the slave crest activating that he realized she was the same as a person and dismissed his previous plan, so yeah “morally questionable” is even a bit generous in my opinion but i do like that about his character how he was so corrupted by his hatred and how his susceptibility to that is further made apparent through the role the rage shield has in the story but he’s (usually) able to snap out of it and keep doing what he needs to do Sorry this kind of turned into a rant about me gushing over naofumi’s character, which is weird because I didn’t even know i liked naofumi that much until just now, I usually binge shield hero the same way I’d snack on potato chips
@@birdup2141 All rants are welcome! Thank you for understanding that I didn't want to debate whether or not he was justified, because that's a sensitive subject; "morally questionable" is as far as I'm willing to go there.
As someone who's read the novel I feel that my opinion of the series and kim dokja is different than others. The more you read and the deeper you get it just feels like kim dokja pulls stuff out of his ass. It sort of becomes something akin to kim dokja saying "by holding these two items I got 100 chapter ago and standing right here I can negate this effect." I feel like after reading other web novels with similar premises it just becomes more apparent. In other novels like authors pov where the person being reincarnated is the author of the novel they were placed into they still don't have such an in-depth understanding of the world and it's characters as kim dokja does. It's almost like kim dokja was reading a technical history book rather than a web novel. Another one of my issues that I have with Omni that authors pov does better is the story changing. The story changes drastically due to the appearance of a character who shouldn't exist which negates the authors understanding of what's going to happen and this happens early(-chp 100) and the story changes more and more from the authors original novel. This balances things and leaves the author scrambling to adapt and predict what's going to happen next. In Omni things change but it's limited to characters the scenarios are almost identical to what kim dokja has read, because of this kim dokja becomes an almost God like character. As the webtoon gets farther I think people are going to have a change in opinion and view kim dokja as an overpowers npc and the idolization of the story will diminish.
hmm i feel like they explained why he has such a good understanding of the scenarios and how he can predict how they'll go so accurately really well tho, since twsa's writer literally wrote it to include unnecessary details and word vomit for the sole purpose of clueing in young kdj on how to clear the scenarios most effectively + he literally spent a good portion of his life journaling exactly how he'd clear the scenarios so i mo it's p understandable how he breezes thru them esp since him being the oldest dream meant plot armour was automatically guaranteed regardless of whether or not kdj thought he deserved it (they literally address this when him and od meet but anyway) agree to disagree ig..? just explaining my thoughts from another pov _(´ཀ`」 ∠)_
Orv is my favorite novel I have read. However dokja single-handedly destroy my viewpoint of a good powerful protagonist because imo he is the most overpowered non overpowered mc filled by really, good back stories and relationships. I love his character with all my heart :D
Kdj had read the novel for 13 years, he started in middle school and the Korean school system is different. The webtoon got that wrong, it was originally a novel. It said over a decade in the novel. Also please never call it omni-reader again, it's orv. One of the reasons it's so good it's because they are well developed character that each have their own motivations and the value they place on their own life fluctates. Plus people die all the time so kdj doesn't have plot armor cause he's constantly dying. (Sorta) another thing that makes it so good is the contrasts kdj, orv's protagonist with ways of survivals protagonist.
And he quote "story is easy to follow" hah This might spoil it alitle The oldest dream , secretive plotter , future , past , secretive plotter clones, save? , tls , 49% ,fuse, time travel , going back to 1 or 0 , child? , the one who wrote it And more if u dont understand read the novel or manwha For me i say not easy for me but confusing
Man, a lot of isekai protagonists (not really a lot, but, like, some of them) get shafted by the anime so hard. Hajime from Arifureta in the novel actually has an arc (that got finished halfway through the story and the rest of the story is more of his character bouncing off of other characters that has yet to finish their story arc, which is quite fun to read) and Naofumi actually has a lot of internal (and external) conflict that was not properly expressed in the anime that show depth to the actions that he takes (Like the Atlas arc? That was sad af. The last third of the webnovel suck ass though. Dunno if the LN improved it or not). The phone guy... eh he doesn't have any arc. None of the other characters have any arc either. It's more like enjoying people making cool stuff (like mechs or gunblades, etc) and using them to kill extra-dimensional monsters for when you are tired and just wanna read something light- OH WAIT A MINUTE-
not to be rude or anything but I recommend you reading the novel. (Prepare: Tissues, An emotional support animal, snacks, more tissues, and a therapist.)
I know I'm commenting on this video and comment a long time later but as of seeing this video I've been reading the series since the manhwa came out (before it was popular) and am now at chapter 207 and for anyone not wanting to read it it is still freaking amazing Please read the manhwa at least and the LN ifntou like it enough. Also 200++chapters still volume 1 of the LN Please read it please........
This is not an actual spoiler I think but in the novel there's a scene where someone tells him "you have talent!!" And EVERYONE is suprised. Including him XD he's like you must have the wrong person. First and only time this happens iirc lmaoo
I would disagree about saying he is OP but not too OP. He is definitely way overpowered to the point it is silly. He does get challenged, but it is only to prove how OP he is at overcoming challenges. Right at the start of the story, it basically says he can't lose.
You completely oversimplified Goku and Saitama. Goku very often relies on the help of others to beat opponents stronger than him, not "just being strong enough" As shown in the Saiyan Arc. Goku had to literally sacrifice himself just to beat his older brother Raditz and even after more training and coming back stronger to fight Vegeta and Nappa he still needed help. Most of the Saga against Frieza where they repeatedly band together and use strategy to defeat him and only after become a Super Saiyan does Goku just out-skill and "ability" Frieza. And even then Goku constantly has to use Super Saiyan and sometimes even stronger transformations just to keep up with the other characters. Saying "Goku just happens to be strong enough to beat everyone and they had to keep making characters because he was too strong for the setting" is incredibly disingenuous. Plus blowing up the planet isn't the main largest threat since any of the characters can do that but it's more so the villains killing the characters and the people important to them. Which is sometimes done in giant blast. Not to mention you can literally down talk any story by saying "Oh well the protag was too strong so they made other strong characters/new concepts and characters with different battle strategies so it doesn't feel like it matters in the story" As if that doesn't happen in a TON of other stories. Including Omniscient Reader. And the point of OPM is Saitama being so good at what he does that it's effortless and therefore meaningless, and the meaninglessness extends to his actual life since his greatest dream and ambition he's worked years for is less meaningless than a hobby. He is far more than just a "comedic relief" character cause has more than gags, and has influenced/changed other characters and made them grow with his actions. Like Genos and Suiryu. And no one thinks Saitama can lose to the big bad cause well, it's called "One Punch Man" for a reason. And the fights of the characters who can actually get clapped/can't just one-shot everything is very interesting in the later part of the series cause you see how *they* overcome thing and live as heroes. Not to mention the nature of heroism is constantly "discussed" by the story itself what with how many characters have their own approach to heroism, strength of change and the world they live in. Also Naofumi is a defense based character who relies on the help of others and ingenuity to fight. How is he "OP"? (Also what did the having a rare and infallible power argument even amount to for most of the characters you criticize since: Everyone uses Ki in Dragon Ball and Naofumi isn't the only of the four heroes with a special weapon and even said weapons aren't perfect as Naofumi has outdone the others cause he actually works hard. And I don't need to explain Saitama so) So, yeah, terrible criticisms on those characters.
1. I'm deeply sorry. The whole experience of my videos being seen by more than just my seven closest friends is new to me, and I'm sorry that my video has left so profound a negative impact on you. I apologise for failing to provide you with something you would enjoy despite you taking the time out of your day to watch my video in its entirety (which I do genuinely appreciate from the bottom of my heart). 2. I apologise again. In the interest of brevity, it is true that I was very sparing with details on several different accounts. This was done to try maintain a length of video that A: I could edit and upload without breaking schedule, and B: would not be so long as to deter potential viewers from giving it a chance (which is a major consideration for creators of my size). I should not have let these considerations come before telling a true story or painting a correct picture, and if I were to do so regardless, I should have given an appropriate disclaimer. 3. Thank you, not just for watching the video, but for your extensive remarks detailing precisely why you found issue with it. It would be impossible for me to learn from my mistakes and grow to get better without receiving the appropriate criticism; as the result of you spending what certainly was no small length of time to educate me, I will certainly be better in the future, and I truly am grateful for this. With all that being said, I did admit in the video that I did not always find fault with Goku. I said that I was perfectly fine with him through the original Dragon Ball, and this stands true for the Saiyan Saga as well because there is little difference in his ability at that point compared to the original dragon ball; in fact, outside of higher talent and better training making the Saiyan greater, once we took their tails out of the equation, they really weren't so different from normal humans, so Goku was just strong. But now, here's where you had an oversight which makes it seem like I was picking on Goku for just being better: you said everyone uses ki. Just as you said I was being disingenuous, the same applies for you there. Ki is the fighting style, that isn't what the insurmountable advantage is, Goku's race is. He's a Saiyan. Not everyone else can tap into the power of a new hair style or colour to match the succeeding villains like he can. That's why my problem begins with Frieza. Part of the argument I made for why this kind of character was a problem lies in that the growth they experience is so exponential that whichever opponent they end up facing at a given time will have to have some outrageous explanation for why they can actually threaten the MC, only for them to so quickly fall behind immediately after their defeat that it makes next to no narrative sense; the fact that this doesn't happen only once, but with every single villain is where the problem lies. Worse yet, this leaves the supporting cast to either become so worthless that they have nothing to contribute, or become the beneficiaries of illogical power boosts. Training regimens barely different to what they had been doing before end up yielding such tremendously different results that there is no good reason why that shouldn't be have been possible before. Example: Krillin's growth before the tournament of power. Naturally, growth is expected of a protagonist, but for it to persist so wantonly is awful for any respectable piece of writing. As for One Punch Man, I did indeed give a nod to how the method it uses to develop tension is via a shift in focus to the characters who aren't so overwhelming that they cannot be challenged. Saitama himself though? I shortened what his role as an MC was to comic relief because the story is at it's heart a parody. I neither claimed, nor believe that his individual character is shallow, that just wasn't what I was here to talk about, I was using him as an example to demonstrate what I meant by Over-Overpowered, and didn't wish to go into great detail discussing him because that wasn't the topic at hand. I didn't criticise him wrongly, I just didn't at all. As per my definition of Overpowered (one that is by no means absolute, but is my personal way of looking at it) the caveat to people being unable to compare with him is if they got their powers from the same source. In the broader world, outside of only 3 people, he is the holder of one of 4 weapons that (although yes, doesn't amount to anything without one's own efforts) puts him in a different realm from what the common man could ever achieve. Also, he fell into the category that I specified was a problem regardless of their exact degree of OP. They just have a number of character flaws that makes them very difficult to route for.
Unfortunately, I've got a bunch of ambitious videos lined up that'll take a ton of my time, but I might try to sneak it into a tier list in the future!
SPOILERS IN THIS COMMENT BEWARE PRESS READ MORE IF YOU'VE READ THE LIGHT NOVEL OR DON'T CARE: It's amazing how a kid (the oldest dream) dreamt of this entire world even making the insane plot and even how the author or three ways to survive IS A CHARACTER who at the start is a slightly side character but still close to a mc
10.11-10.20 , so you know Naofumi's outfit looks like that ,because Erhard (Old Weapon Shop guy) made that outfit specifically for him with agility & defense in mind,,
Specs aside, sometimes you just need to put the drip first and customize a bit. Maybe if he dressed a little better he wouldn't have to own girls for them to follow him around, just saying.
Nah... Imo, Kim Dokja is a good overpowered protagonist, because, despite being super overpowered, his goal isn't to win. His goal is to save / move in the right direction the other broken overpowered character. And if that said character says "no fck u i wont move".... Well, then Kim Dokja can't do shit! Despite being extremely overpowered.
He's smart, not overpowered. Calling a character that actually uses loopholes and stategizes OP really speaks volumes for the brainpower of your average MC lmao. Imo you watered down the meaning of "Overpowered" too much, because at this point you could call almost every shounen MC overpowered. What ORV did really well is make a character really strong, in a really uh... seemingly inconspicuous way, if that makes sense. It's believable and feels more natural, and kinda even doesn't feel like it sometimes.
Dokja isn't particularly smart (as a human, not compared to the 3IQ protagonists). I defined overpowered as having an advantage that is impossible to overcome, and that's what he has. Complete knowledge of the future and basically everything that exists is his superpower, and it has to be acknowledged. The entire point of the video is that it was handled well though, as tension and balance still exist (so I don't mean any of this in a negative way)
I feel like I ended Webtoon Week strong and with a really good video, so I'd really appreciate if you shared it with a friend you think would like it!

Came back to the video again to share? You a real one.
I feel the same way, I love how he's given the kind of ability that should by all means let him coast through, but the story balances it out enough that he needs to be careful and witty about what to do because there are still real challenges and high enough opposition that he can't just get away with anything.

Like from the get go.

Spoilers.)
Even after Dokja becomes a constellation; he's gains the attention of people far more powerful than him.

What I love about orv is that some of the most powerful characters in the story (Sun Wukong, secretive plotter, Uriel etc) are all introduced at the beginning of the story. Their character’s get developed very early on and they don’t simply exist to be powerful.
Omni-Reader is one of my favorite webtoons actually.
The shield hero mc is in a fantasy world. He's dressed correctly for his occupation.
And I would say he's an op protagonist done right seeing as he doesn't have much offensive power, at least in the web novel. His whole deal is that he couldn't solve everything himself and needs companions.
"no time leaping hero" lmao
"same potential as everyone else" lmao level 2

@@samuek607 that’s fair, the act of him even considering to buy a slave was born out of his lack of trust in others after the events of the first impression he got and even in the context of the series it wasn’t meant to be seen as the right thing to do and the only person who even attempts to justify it is raphtalia who is admittedly a tad biased
In other words it was designed to set a large contrast between his character at the very beginning and the kind of person he is now starting to become, specifically in the light novel the initial reason he chose raphtalia was because her eyes looked the same as the princess and at the time he believed all the creatures there were mindless beasts, it wasn’t until after he heard raphtalia scream in pain to the slave crest activating that he realized she was the same as a person and dismissed his previous plan, so yeah “morally questionable” is even a bit generous in my opinion but i do like that about his character how he was so corrupted by his hatred and how his susceptibility to that is further made apparent through the role the rage shield has in the story but he’s (usually) able to snap out of it and keep doing what he needs to do

It's a self insert story after all.
hmm i feel like they explained why he has such a good understanding of the scenarios and how he can predict how they'll go so accurately really well tho, since twsa's writer literally wrote it to include unnecessary details and word vomit for the sole purpose of clueing in young kdj on how to clear the scenarios most effectively + he literally spent a good portion of his life journaling exactly how he'd clear the scenarios so i mo it's p understandable how he breezes thru them esp since him being the oldest dream meant plot armour was automatically guaranteed regardless of whether or not kdj thought he deserved it (they literally address this when him and od meet but anyway) agree to disagree ig..? just explaining my thoughts from another pov _(´ཀ`」 ∠)_

The oldest dream , secretive plotter , future , past , secretive plotter clones, save? , tls , 49% ,fuse, time travel , going back to 1 or 0 , child? , the one who wrote it
And more if u dont understand read the novel or manwha
For me i say not easy for me but confusing

Also 200++chapters still volume 1 of the LN
Please read it please........
This is not an actual spoiler I think but in the novel there's a scene where someone tells him "you have talent!!" And EVERYONE is suprised. Including him XD he's like you must have the wrong person. First and only time this happens iirc lmaoo
Naofumi looks like Rance wihout a hyper-weapon.
My favorite manhwa and novel fr fr
if you like the brain behind orv, try hyouka. a beautiful mystery anime/great novel.
Talking about Dragon Ball while showing a video of Professor Layton is just so funny to me lol.
Thanks for telling me where that was from 😭

He's so overpowered yet also one of the characters who can't do anything at the same time (Iykyk)
I would disagree about saying he is OP but not too OP. He is definitely way overpowered to the point it is silly. He does get challenged, but it is only to prove how OP he is at overcoming challenges. Right at the start of the story, it basically says he can't lose.
The spicy food bit earned my subscription
I had to wait almost 2 years for my bit to be acknowledged 😭
And the clothes that Kim Dokja or anyone wears I would wear in public.
i need to now how chapters did this dude read of ORV
Where Can I read this LN?

Thanks a bunch! That means a lot to me while I'm trying to work towards getting this channel going.
Will you review "The Trash of the Count's Family" next?
Unfortunately, I've got a bunch of ambitious videos lined up that'll take a ton of my time, but I might try to sneak it into a tier list in the future!
@@samuek607 Ooh!! I look forward to it!

SPOILERS IN THIS COMMENT BEWARE PRESS READ MORE IF YOU'VE READ THE LIGHT NOVEL OR DON'T CARE:
It's amazing how a kid (the oldest dream) dreamt of this entire world even making the insane plot and even how the author or three ways to survive IS A CHARACTER who at the start is a slightly side character but still close to a mc
I will not be pressing read more, but I'm deeply thankful for you being mindful of spoilers. Some villains in here been ruining this story for me ;-;
10.11-10.20 , so you know Naofumi's outfit looks like that ,because Erhard (Old Weapon Shop guy) made that outfit specifically for him with agility & defense in mind,,
Specs aside, sometimes you just need to put the drip first and customize a bit.
Did bro say dokja has the same ceiling as everyone else and they catch up to him? Read the novel brother
