About a year and a half ago I had what I thought was a bad ear infection. My ear was throbbing with pain and I could barely open my mouth. A week after the pain went away my balance issues started, where 24/7 I felt like I was floating and off balance. I went to 3 different ENTs and none of them could figure out the issues. Finally, the 4th ENT I saw came to the conclusion that I had a TMJ issue and the the inflammation from my jaw joint was affecting my inner ear. I start treatment for this in January 27th, which includes acupuncture, Botox and physical therapy. I hope the end is in sight
This was my question! I can't thank you enough for answering this. I've been suffering for 9 months with this floating and dizziness and doctor's have been so useless. Thank you thank you thank you! My question is...who needs to evaluate me? ENTs are obviously useless to me and my primary doctor keeps telling me an ENT.
Hi Maureen! Due to your symptoms and the fact that you haven't had any luck with seeing an ENT, we would recommend seeing a Craniofacial Pain (TMD) Specialist. We have Centres all around the world who have doctors mentored by Dr. Olmos. They will be able to identify the root source of your pain and either treat your problem or refer you to a doctor who can. tmjtherapycentre.com/our-centres-of-excellence/ You can give our International Centre a call if you need further assistance. 877.865.4325
I am dealing with the same. It has taken my life away. Cannot eat anything hard. Balance issues has kind of paralyzed me. I've been wearing an orthotic for 3 weeks now day and night. Hopefully it will solve my issue. Cannot wait to feel better. I cry every other day.
I was misdiagnosed for many years with Menieres and then discovered it was TMJD. When I had that addressed the Menieres went away for 5.5 years until my TMJD mouth guard wore down and I’d isn’t realize it. As soon as I addressed the mouth guard it went away again.
Hi Dr. i’m an iraq veteran. i have had trauma and tbi. recently i was diagnosed with tmj or tmd and sleep apnea. i’m thinking all of this is related. i’ve been dizzy since 2015. i’m scared ill never feel ok again.
I have the same problem, and dealing with imbalance and sizziness for almost 10yrs now. I have am wearing an appliance (splint) and braces on my upper teeth, but none on the lower part. My orthodontics would like to remove my 3rd molar on the left side but since I am dizzy I cannot do this procedure yet. But I do feel the pressure in my left ear up to my head on the left side. It’s not painful but there’s a pressure. Would like to ask if removing my 3rd molar can give relief to me and my imbalance issue? Thank you so much! It will mean the world to me if you could help me answer this. Ps, in my blood test, my white blood cell is elevated than normal. It could be that my veins in the ears or head are inflamed?
I have grade 4 tonsils. Doctor suggest me to tonsillectomy. I also have TMJ, when I open my mouth my jaw locks and hurts very bad. Do this TMJ problem interfere with the tonsillectomy procedure?!
