A quick tutorial on running a channel scan on a (admittedly older) Philips television.
Running a channel scan (also called auto programming) when using a TV antenna for free over-the-air television channels is a necessary step with digital TV’s. Back in the days of analog television, you simply had to hook up the TV antenna and the channels would come through. With digital television, channels must be scanned into the TV before they can be watched.

I personally love the Philips TV, from my experience they have the best picture and sound quality. Also many models can be used as PC Monitor.
Nice, it does seem like a good little TV. This one was given to me recently, and I like to add channel scan tutorials to my playlist whenever I can. Especially for viewers new to using a TV antenna, as paid cable TV is still so engrained in North America.📡

I have a Phillip's remote but a JVC TV because original JVC remote broke. Unable to scroll down from menu to channel and then to scan.
I attempted to locate how to make the font larger on the tv menu of my older Phillips tv. I messed up and now my tv continues to show 5 and no channels. How can I fix it and is there a way to enlarge the menu font??? 😮

Question.. I have the exact same Philips tv and the internal Speakers turned off some how. I can't figure out how to turn back on?
You’ll get better sound with a sound bar, I’d go that route if you haven’t figured out the internal speaker issue. 😊
Hey I don’t have the remote but I tried doing this with the buttons on the TV and I get to the last step where I’m on the antenna option to scan for channels, but it will not let me select it. Any ideas?
Make sure the input is set to ‘TV’.

How can you change imputs without a remote on this tv???? I have this tv and can’t change the input doesn’t have a source/input button 😢
Use the channel +/- buttons to switch inputs. The inputs will appear at the end of the channels.

The channel up/down buttons lets you cycle through the input sources. Go through to the end of the channel list and the other inputs will be available.
Or, try a universal remote.

I've bought three different replacement remotes since last week (one didn't work at all, literally just a plastic shell/replica of the original remote, the same as in the video, no life in it whatsoever, another being a standard universal that doesn't have the correct buttons) the most recent being Philips brand and costing a fortune, but I just cannot get this menu to come up, I lost all signal after a brief power cut last week, I've tried everything I can, but without the original remote, I cannot find my way to the right menu. The replacement remote has the right buttons, but they have no effect. Is there a way to reach this menu without the original remote? This has been driving me bananas 😅

Oh my gosh, thank you for replying! And thank you for your help! I appreciate it very much! Unfortunately it didn't work, the buttons on the side of the TV, the menu button works, but the channel and volume buttons didn't do anything at all 😞 I also held the menu button for 5 seconds to bring up a "different" menu, but I've lost two of the options, and have only sound, picture, and features. Install, and the fifth option have vanished in to thin air. I have ordered a new coaxial cable that should be here in a few hours time, if that doesn't change anything, I may have to bite the bullet and buy a new TV 😬 your video is invaluably helpful though, as is your reply, thank you again for taking the time to do so! ☺️

Use the Format button on the remote control. You can choose the aspect ratio there.

@@NorthcoasterHobby I'm talking about I have a digital box and I have an Xfinity thing for my internet and I moved from one room to the other room right across the hall in my apartment and I cannot and nobody will not help me set up the back of the TV channels because I had them over the other place in the new room.
