    Good Lord mister. Don't let that Glock touch that 1911. Do you want to contaminate your new CMP pistol and have the wrath of the Almighty (and John Browning) haunt you?

    I would say with much certainty that 1911 was used in Vietnam. It was refurbished at the beginning of the war and the end of the war. If it wasn’t used in Vietnam, I would see no reason for it to be refurbished again in 1973.

    I just got my call and got the rack grade because that's all they had. I'm hoping to get something like you have. I want a piece of history and while I wanted a field, I think the rack will have more history.
    I can buy (and currently have) perfect 1911s but this will sit in a place of honor next to my M1 Garand. Now I just have to wait..... I hate wait. 8)
    Update with an after range video if you would.

    • @cornfromajar3222
      @cornfromajar3222  3 года назад

      Well mine is resting with my Garand as well. The wait is absolute torture. I’m certain that if they hired a bigger staff they could get the process more quick and efficient, but I know they’re limited on how many the government can release to them.
      On that note with the current political picture I’m happy this program is happening at all.
      I never got confirmation it shipped or anything, I called my FFL a couple days after the CNP call and it arrived. What a day you have coming!
      Thanks for coming by!

    Received my M1911a1 from CMP, Service Grade. 1943 Remington Rand frame and a NO NAME REPRODUCTION SLIDE. I found out IS a genuine Colt made National Match Hard slide with matching chrome lined barrel. Thought I had gotten a "mutt" but, certainly changed my opinion of my pistol. Thanks CMP..
    Oh, MSGT USAF ret former SP and Armorer ('73-'95) UPDATE: In doing more research I found out the one I received was re arsenal in Mount Rainier Arsenal the "MR" over strike on the U S Army Ordnance acceptance "crossed cannons". Which are still partially visible. Range days have been very good with the pistol. I can ring steel at 40+ yards accurately.

      I’ve learned stalking the CMP forums and RUclips accounts that it is definitely a gamble regardless the grade you order. You can wind up with one better or wind up with one worse than you were expecting. Hopefully they open up future rounds for folks to put in another order especially if you were disappointed the first time around. Thanks for coming by!

    Your barrel has a date 85 which is 1985. The factory info is also on the barrel. You can't date the Ithaca slide. The serial number on the frame will tell you when the Remington Rand was made.

    Always get a sharp knife for unboxings.Thought a bout a CMP 45 but a hear they want several back ground cheaks and other paper work. Do have 2 M1 rifles and a 1903 .

    • @cornfromajar3222
      @cornfromajar3222  2 года назад

      I will definitely use a different knife next time.
      The CMP does a background check when you buy the pistol. The second background check is done by the FFL where you have the pistol transferred to. In my case I filled out a form at the gun store and the clerk ran the background check through an online system. My biggest challenge through process was finding an FFL - my first choice wasn’t accepting transfers and my second choice required too much additional paperwork. Thanks for watching and thanks for coming by!

      The CMP is not going to win any awards for customer service or efficiency that is for sure. (I have another video up about that).
      If you follow the forums, this thread will tell you where they are in the sequence of RGNs. I watched this like a hawk waiting for mine.
      forums.thecmp.org/showthread.php?t=274428&page=77
      I can say this, if you have an RGN they will contact you either via phone or email. From the initial contact you have 5 days to get back to them. After I sent my packet, my phone number changed so I was in my email several times daily when the forums showed they were coming close.

      The Rifle will ship to your door if you pass the background check. For the pistols, the CMP does one and it ships to an FFL of your choosing- and anyone with an FFL counts, as long as they can sign for the pistol when it arrives. Be it yourself with an FFL, someone you know who has an FFL, or a storefront. Thanks for coming by!

I know from experience that chrome lining is very likely a products of the 60’s when that was popular likely from the Springfield Armory rebuild. I may revisit this. Mine arrived today. Field grade. Looks very clean, very nice finish, new mag. Fired very little I believe. 1944, Ithaca/RR slide, by the serial # Did not come with the CMP clamcase, just a black case, kinda flimsy.

    • @cornfromajar3222
      @cornfromajar3222  2 года назад

      I’m a little surprised they didn’t send one of the nicer cases, following the CMP forums, everyone who made mention of the case posted a picture of one similar to mine. I ended up selling a revolver and included that case because I really didn’t have much room to store it. I keep my 1911 in a soft padded case now which is more practical for me. Great to hear that you finally received yours, the wait and process is crazy. Best of luck!

    So you got a dog like I did. A mixed breed mut. Mine is a 1944 Colt with a Remington Rand slide, with what I think is a new blued barrel. $1,000 for a half breed 1911. Maybe in future years, with the documentation, it’ll be worth more. I think I could have bought a very nice new 1911 for $1,000. I feel ripped off. I’d feel a LOT better if the slide and receiver came from the same manufacturer. I took off those shitty plastic grips and put on a nice double diamond set from Altamont. I replaced the sear spring with a reduced pressure sear spring from Cylinder & Slide.
    It’s an OK 1911, that shoots pretty accurately. But after, almost 2 years, I still feel I was ripped off by CMG.
    To me, the thousand bucks I paid for this mut wasn’t a big deal. What pissed me off was the CMG came across as doing a good thing for American 191 fans, and what I got was a MUT!

    • @GetTheFO

      I mean I get what you’re saying, but mix/match is how the majority of surplus US firearms are… hence why matching parts firearms go for a premium. It’s the same with the Garands, springfields, and carbines they’ve sold. They were quite clear that the majority of them would have been re-arsenal pistols which should have told you exactly what you should expect; pistols that were sent back to Anniston to be completely worked over with parts replaced/finishes redone where necessary. The complaint I personally had, and why I didn’t bother with it, was the fact that so many may be coming with civilian parts. Which apparently didn’t matter to you, considering you replaced a bunch of stuff anyway lmao. Shitty plastic grips… like if you didn’t want a legit surplus pistol how it would have been issued why did you buy one lmao

    • @CrazyPetez
      @CrazyPetez 2 года назад

      @@GetTheFO You make good points. It would have been nice if the slide and frame were from the same manufacturer. Mine has absolutely no armory markings - none. I can put the grips and other parts I removed and make it like it came to me. Mi have a 1918 1911 that was a WWI take home, so nice contrast to the A1.

    • @cornfromajar3222
      @cornfromajar3222  2 года назад +1

      I understand what you’re saying, to me the process alone and the time it takes definitely can use some improvements. I would think if someone didn’t care too much for the gun that you get, depending on the state you live in, you could take it to a gun show and sell it for way more that what you have in it. It is an inconvenience I guess to go through the process to search for a buyer to let it go for the right person looking. But anyhow thanks for dropping a comment and thanks for coming by!
