11/17/2022 Round 3 CMP 1911 sales. Received my M1911A1, Service Grade. A 1943 Remington Rand frame, a NO NAME "GI rep" slide that turned out to be a genuine Colt replacement National Match Hard Slide with a chrome lined barrel (.45 auto '85). The frame roll marks and inspection marks were all legible and minimal re arsenal indications. A VERY clean vintage weapon that wasn't over Parkerized . At first I thought I had gotten a "mutt" but, researching it changed my opinion of what I had received. THANKS to CMP for their work and the opportunity to have a piece of history.
Thank you! I really rolled the dice after seeing the pictures some had posted on the CMP forums of the racks grades received early in round 2, but I’m very happy. Thanks for coming by!
Being a lefty certainly has some advantage with a pistol. I’ve become used to releasing a magazine with my thumb and releasing a slide with my index finger. Thanks for coming by!
Based on the slow-no, your index finger keeps slipping off the trigger guard and it looks like your getting quite a bit of muzzle rise. You might retain a little better control of the pistol if you get your support index finger off the trigger guard and focus your support hand on torquing the muzzle down. I think I learned that trick from Warrior Poet Society’s video.
Definitely apply. It is a long long wait, and rollercoaster ride, but worth it once you get across the finish line. I have 3 kids and a lot going on and with finances, I considered telling them no by the time they called me ( I applied on Feb 2021, called Sept 2021). Life happens and things change over time but in the end I’m happy I did. Thanks for coming by!
I hadn’t been in the forums lately. I did read that several in round three were believed to be Navy issued. Man I can’t wait to order another if they ever allow repeat customers. Thanks for coming by!
Old worn out springs. Get new fresh ones so your gun is more reliable and doesn’t beat itself up. Standard usgi recoil springs back then were 16lbs. Modern ones have 18lb springs for more reliable function.
You're shooting with the wrong hand. That's the problem! 8) It did mess with my head for a second. I guess I hadn't looked at a close up of a lefty grip before. I know on both my other 1911 (1991 and Kimber) I had to polish the feed ramps to get it to cycle more smoothly and not catch rounds on the slide. That might help.
Interesting that you say that, I read a reply on the CMP forums who said the same thing to another user. This was the first time I shot the gun with any kind of ammo, if it continues to happen I will explore that route. Thanks for coming by!
The 230 grain full metal jacket bullet is the standard military bullet. The match cartridge is a little heavier indicating a different bullet. No details about the bullet are in the TM. The other 3 cartridges are listed below with the data from the TM. Somebody else had mentioned that as well! They were watching my shots and said that the video threw them off because I was holding it left handed. Some guns I’ve shot are definitely made for a right handed person, but the 1911 isn’t too bad. Thanks for coming by!

Originally the 45 acp military load was a 200 gr FMJ at 900 fps. Later WW1 it was a 230 gr FMJ at 800-825 FPS and that load was used till today.
Good information! Thanks for sharing and thanks for coming by!
Congratulations, I received my Remington Rand service grade from the CMP in early May, couldn’t be more pleased!

I’m hoping to put my name in the hat for a 1911 next year.

I’m seeing a lot of really nice rack grades coming from round 3. A lot with matched slide/frame manufacturers.
I hadn’t been in the forums lately. I did read that several in round three were believed to be Navy issued. Man I can’t wait to order another if they ever allow repeat customers. Thanks for coming by!

I’ve looked into this but I really wanted to get a few magazines first, the one that came with it is not cutting it. Thanks for coming by!
230 grain projectiles with a muzzle velocity of 850 fps. is standard for .45ACP.

learn the proper hand grip and your shooting will improve
Definitely more practice will be in order, even more so when ammo prices stabilize. Thanks for coming by!
