In the older versions we had no UI detection algorithm at all & now we do, & we continue to fine tune it so it doesn't over or under compensate. In the video I noticed when your white crosshair went over the white sky/waterfall is when it glitched the most since it was the same color, otherwise it was fine.
Also if you click on the "Discussions" tab when you're about to launch tht program you can see even more updates & a pinned post on how to improve interpolation results.
Thanks for the video! Wasn't expecting it.

You are doing such incredible work. I wish I could buy LS five times. That said, I would love to see you experimenting with GFN, as Nvidia uses the same bitrate for 4K 120FPS as 4K 60FPS, which makes no sense and obviously worsens the stream's overall IQ. So, I would rather stick to 4K 60FPS and use LSFG instead. I tried it earlier today and it already works surprisingly well. Far from perfect, but it works.

This tool is a blessing for the Windows handheld community. It enables games, which can reach a locked 60 FPS on the ROG Ally, to fully utilize the screen's 120Hz refresh rate. It's a sight to behold. If they somehow manage to create a Linux version of their app, their success will shoot through the roof.

    • @lammyjammer6670
      @lammyjammer6670 9 месяцев назад

@@njemtgThis absolutely requires a locked framerate to work its best. If your base framerate is fluctuating this will look like crap.
What I typically do is I run the game at the target resolution I want to scale from ( on my Legion Go, I usually run the games at 1280 x 800) and figure out the settings I want to use. If the consistent FPS is 50 I may lock it to 40 FPS to account for the postprocessing overhead. As long as you feed it a stable FPS you'll have an awesome experience.

I solved the performance tax problem by using a cheap secondary GPU (a GTX 1650) from which I output the video signal. I set Lossless Scaling to use the 1650 for frame generation while my games use my 3080, the result is incredible, no additional usage percentage on my main card. If you have windows 11 you can set your high performance card as the main card, remember that the video output must come from the "cheap gpu" otherwise lossless will also use the high performance card :) let me know if you try, now I only play like this several months and it's fantastic!

Lossless scaling is a great app and option for getting improved motion clarity I use it in a couple of titles, Kingdom come deliverance works amazing, it's very slow paced game with minimal hud elements but has a horrible CPU bottleneck in main city which means even with my 7800x3d I can't really get past a stable 60fps, so using LSFG to get 120fps motion clarity in that game is fantastic.
Also I haven't been able to keep up with all the HDR video's you've done recently but RTX HDR has been a god send for me, it just works in every game hassle free, perfect black levels, correct nit value it's everything auto hdr wish it could be... Only annoying thing is the perf impact however I am fortunate in the fact my current GPU has enough spare head room to make than a non issue for me personally. RTX HDR works amazing for emulators as well as someone who tends to use CRT filters which darken the screen considerably.

I also had issues with getting HFW to run smoothly (my PC told me it was running at 120fps, but it was obviously stuttering). IIRC it had something to do with my GSYNC settings through the NVidia control panel. I found the beta in the dev forum but they said they were going to do a full release within a day or so(this was over a week ago)
It's something to do with core affinity and the way rtss is reporting. This game and elden ring got a massive fix on 7.3.6 and it runs smooth as butter now

I only have 3060ti and trying to play this on 4k performance dlss. You think i should use LS in this scenario, i dont think i can hold 60fps the whole game. If I cap to 50fps and then use LS on top would that be better than only perf dlss 4k.

For me the quality is horrible. Look at smoothfrog with 30fps to 60 and fast scrollspeeds like 2600px/sec+, it will look like 30fps but worse. Fails to increase motion clarity or even smoothness, just looks like doubling. It only works on slow speed of movement, and even then the artifacts are insane, even on like 300px/sec scrolling. I just re-tested the latest beta, so my view on this is still up to date.

I'd use test patterns. Near black to check if it is crushing, color clipping to set the color saturation, and use the Color Temperature Meter app to set the white balance I like (Warm)

More frames let you see better in motion. The app also has scaling, so that would affect the quality if it is turned on

I checked the game sonic the hedgehog 2 on retroarch(sega genesis) +CRT SHADERS and here my thoughts:
60 fps on LCD : boring not engaging
120 fps on LCD thanks to LSFG . It looks beter, but game is still boring non engaging and when the background is moving very fast smearing effect occurs and everyting looks bad.
60FPS on PLASMA TV: WOW, game is engaging, motion is perfect. i game looks very good even on fast moving background. I think the smoothness of movement is as good as on CRT but I haven't played on CRT for years :)
LSFG is good for modern games on LCD and OLED. For retro games plasma tv is the best choice.

Plasmas can have 4ms of persistence and look as good as 240 when doing a slow panning. Better than 120 on LCDs in almost every case
