I’m feeling good about this pretend marriage
MeTV is showing this episode right now, 8:30 AM EDST on June 30, 2024. It originally aired on November 11, 1989. What's significant to me is that I remember my daughter watching on that Saturday morning. I was passing through the living room and during a commercial my daughter commented on the nature of the episode. I sat down with my coffee to finish watching this episode of Saved By the Bell. First time seeing this one in nearly 35 years.
MeTV is showing these episodes out of order and when this one started, it was a little jarring to see everyone revert in age so abruptly. When MeTV shows these episodes on Sunday morning it's a little bit like the '90s again.
I'm still trying to figure out how they were matched alphabetically. The boys: Morris, Powers, Slater. The girls: Kapowski, Spano, Turtle. By this, Zack and Kelly are ok. But Screech should have been matched with Jessie and A.C. with Lisa. So what kind of alphabet are they using?

Another thing I don’t understand is why didn’t they make Lisa go through with doing the assignment with screech. After all Laura Winslow went through it with Steve on Family Matters, even though she wasn’t attracted to him at that time. Also, even if Lisa did refuse, wouldn’t they just pair her and screech up with other people?

This episode...when Zak said stay home and watch " The Young & The Restless " lol 😆 after You tube just recommended the " Young & The Restless Album" had no idea there was one and then it led me here after watching a few more SBTB clips on RUclips..funny Sh🤫 This was an awesome episode.. boy was Jessie a Feminist. I forget how much so until watched this.
We did a similar thing when I was in little school back in the early 80s, the irony is, I did like the lass who played my wife, but if we'd got really together, it'd be confusing, because her name was Diane, and Mum's Diane Allen lol.

Why did Jessie marry the writer (they divorced) instead of Slater? Slater revealed that he was in love with her in the reboot. It's a shame that they broke up a few times in Saved by the Bell and they were still friends in the Wedding movie.
SBTB Wedding in Las Vegas, I noticed that all of Slater’s ex-gfs are there + the new girl that he is in love there … (Jessie, Alex, and the girl that got them almost in trouble)

I think Jessie and Slater are the definition of Right Person, Wrong Time.
@@madisonyour5369I though Slater and Alex were even more mismatched than Slater and Jessie. Alex was into acting, which Slater had no interest in, and Alex had no interest in Slater’s athletics, so they never attended any events together. Their lack of common interests was why they eventually broke up. At least Slater and Jessie did participate in some school events together. Jessie just didn’t approve of Slater’s views on women’s rights, which she considered to be backward.

Was there a main reason Lisa did not like screech to much just asking
it's in the script.
Screech may be an ingenious student, but because of his overly nerdy personality, he lacks social skills, has a number of annoying habits, and tries way too hard when trying to impress girls. This is only compounded by him not taking rejection well and just can't take no for an answer. So to a fashionista type like Lisa, he comes across as repulsive and pushy, even though he's nice otherwise. That's what I've noticed.
@@TheEman590yes, Lisa definitely did not like that image that Screech presented. In my opinion, she should have tried to see beyond outward appearance and see him for the good-hearted person that he was. Although she did that toward the end of the series, and came to accept and appreciate him as a friend. But she also made it clear to him that friendship was as far as she wanted it to go, and that she was never going to be his girlfriend.
Because poor old Screech was smitten, but she didn't like him.

@@justina249 you got me there. Even though she didn't feel the same way he felt about her she could've at least treated him a lot better rather than just being cold and cruel and mean and harsh to him.
@@marcustrice3246 Remember the episode of Family Matters when Laura and Steve were in a pretend marriage like this for a class assignment? Laura didn’t want to do it with Steve, but she went through with the assignment anyway. It just taught her that even though she found Steve annoying at times that he was nevertheless a basically good person with a big heart, and it made her appreciate him more as a friend even if she still didn’t want to date him. I don’t know why the Lisa and Screech assignment could not have been made to follow a similar pattern. I don’t think anyone seriously believed that she had that allergy.

I never liked canned laughter on any show. I say let me decide for myself what I find funny!
Like many multicamera sitcoms of the time, _Saved by the Bell_ was taped before a live studio audience though they may have sweetened the laughter in post-production, too.
