    I have a 2017 S1000RR and ordered a 2020 M package but after months of waiting and compared the demo S1000RR M to my 2017 i decided to go back to Yamaha after 34 year's! And bought my 2019 R1M without sitting on it or test ride it ! And it was a sweet surprise! A fantastic bike ! Love it ! Can't hardly wait for take it to the track !! At age 68 !!😄😄😄

    I’m R1m fan and as all of us know it has the latest generation of all hardwares and softwares we can see in the market. However, I’m wondering why no Brembo brakes system in this bike so far, at least for top model R1m!
    I think the latest generation of Brembo braking system will makes it the ultimate super bike.
    Please could you ask Yamaha this question?

    • @cyclenews
      @cyclenews  6 лет назад +2

      Reply from Aaron at Yamaha: "When developing new models, there are multiple variables involved in determining suppliers for specific parts, such as function, cost, feasibility for a specific development, etc.
      "We’re not authorized to speak about specifics, but for the R1 the new ADVICS mono-block 4 piston calipers was chosen and performs extremely well."

      Cycle News Thank you team. Just 1 comment about brakes performance: I have watched many reviews about the R1 and many comparisons with other superbikes, most of these reviews and comparisons agreed the main disadvantage in the R1 is braking performance. As I understand from them, there is “fades” issue with this brakes after some laps on the track.

    I wish you could’ve spent more than 2 minutes on the R1 because this is all about the M. Having just recently bought the 18’ R1 I’m trying to find some good breakdowns on it but they don’t seem to exist yet. More people are likely to actually buy the R1 and not the M as there’s already so much about it on YT but just 2 minute “displays” of the 18’ R1. Rather disappointing

    Brembo m50s? Steel braided lines? Electronically linked rear brake? Average brakes for a premium product

    • @cyclenews
      @cyclenews  6 лет назад +2

      No M50s, but the brake lines are steel braided lines on both the R1 and R1M. As for the linked brakes, this what Aaron from Yamaha had to say:
      "The front and rear brakes are linked through a hydraulic unit. With the Unified Brake System, operating the front brake also generates brake pressure at the rear brake. The distribution of braking force is based on input from the IMU regarding the machine’s attitude and lean angle at the time of brake application. When brake force is applied to both the front brake lever and the rear brake pedal, the Unified Brake System functions to control the distribution of braking force between the two brakes. When only the rear brake pedal is used, the system operates only the rear brake so that there is no unnatural operational feeling for the rider."

  • @bhrbehavioralhealthracing30
    @bhrbehavioralhealthracing30 3 года назад

    What you need to do to get some features is rip everything out, take away no spark from the engine. Sacrifice absolutely nothing to take spark away. Scientist said not much has changed since cars have been around since cars have been around they've only doubled in speed so we're talking over 150 years of manufacturing cars they've only became twice as fast. bikes the same damn thing since 1996 instead of electric fuel injection stuff like that. ABS brakes you don't need any of that s*** if you're not ride a bike. Take them off slipper clutch too heavy take it off. Not much has really changed beside them become heavy and unnecessary crap. Till date.... Don't mind my grammar cuz I don't give a f***. Here's my point
    RAKE/TRAIL:24.0°/4.0 in.WHEELBASE:55.3 in.FUEL CAPACITY:4.5 gal.WEIGHT:450 lb that's a 2020
    Ll ets look at a r1 2002 399 dry 200bhp
    05 387lb dry 184BHP so if anything there becoming heavier and slower. It's a sport bike don't ride one if it's not for you. You can't be all that big bro 😂

    they make out you get so much for 16 grand (now 10 if you can find a 2015) but compare the depreciation to cars. I could get an AMG c63 that will actually keep up or go faster than the R1, with way more technology in the car, like its not even comparable... the car started its life at 60 grand, i can pick one up now for 10, why the hell are bikes that are 15 years old still 50% of their MSRP, you can buy a half decent 2008 model with 30k on the clocks for 4and a half K, they were only 9 new....
    If I was to get a 2023 model it would cost 18k, I could get myself a 06 R1, GSXR, CBR, ZX10 and a dirtbike for shits and giggles, fully insured for the same money. Is it worth all of those bikes?

    • @darkknight17
      @darkknight17 6 лет назад +2

      I know how you feel bro, but the truth is as a Yamaha R1 2010 rider your ZX10R looks awesome. We own championship winning bikes. They're not outdated my any means. Both of our bikes turn heads wherever we go.
      I used to think I wanted a new bike but I gave myself a reality check: The new bikes have 10% more power that we'll never use and electronics we'll never go fast enough and often enough to need or use on the road. Realistically I manage to do 1-3 track days per year. Max.
      When was the last time you flattened your ZX10R in 4th gear? Or ever felt the need to use 5th or even touched 6th gear? Nope never. Catch my point? Extra power isn't going to do anything. You're caught up on the marketing hype and aesthetics.

    Hi I have just purchased a Yamaha r1s the base model r1 and I am curious if this model can have the redline raised 200 rpm so that would be 12400?? Can this be done and what is the horsepower difference between a r1s and r1 standard??

    • @cyclenews
      @cyclenews  6 лет назад +1

      We've sent your question to Yamaha and will get back to you with their response real soon -- Rennie

    • @crossplane9894
      @crossplane9894 6 лет назад

      Cycle News the most important part of this question is asking the question properly Yamaha will obviously say no to raising the redline. I am going to raise the redline only 200 rpm over the stock 12200 to 12400. The yamaha r1s has steel connecting rods and was limited on redline because of this heavier rotating mass. But older models with steel rods rev much higher so I don't see a problem with a 200 rpm bump. I was told by many people that the Yamaha r1s makes about 9 hp less so let me know asap thanks

    • @crossplane9894
      @crossplane9894 6 лет назад

      About 5 hp with the r1s

    • @cyclenews
      @cyclenews  6 лет назад

      This is what I got from Aaron at Yamaha: "The R1S peak RPM is lower than the R1 due to the use of a few different internal engine parts; the key one being the use of steel connecting rods in the R1S versus titanium connecting rods in the R1. This was done to provide the R1S at a more attainable price point while still providing amazing power all the way up to redline. We do not recommend changing the peak RPM limit.
      Yamaha does not give out horsepower numbers."

    • @brois841
      @brois841 6 лет назад

      If you're interested, you can flash your ECU using FT ECU. You (or your tuner) can change any parameters you want. However, I wouldn't touch the rev limit, especially on the R1S. I would say unless you track your bike or are just into the aftermarket scene for whatever reason, keep it stock. It's plenty of power and plenty good.

      We asked Yamaha USA for you, this was their response: "The R1M is designed for the highest level of performance on the street or track, and comes standard with a 200-series rear tire as part of the overall performance package."

    I truly believe these types of bike should only be reviewed by pro racers due to the tremendous difference between riders skill levels.

      What a ridiculous statement. Pro racers aren't the ones buying the bikes. Its every day riders and track day guys. We want to hear what the bike is truly like from someone who can firstly translate what it's like to ride, and also hear from someone who has experience riding a whole bunch of different bikes in different conditions. A World SBK or MotoGP rider testing this bike that wasnt sponsored by Yamaha would likely tell you this thing is slow and heavy.

      Not sure I agree with "p ch" however, when someone does review a bike, I would like to know their skill level and lap times they were doing at the track when reviewing the machine. There's a big difference between someone who rides on the street, goes to the track (various levels), amateur racers, expert racers, pro racers, etc.

    overall a bad journo. far too light on technical info. they basically said nothing at all about the changes for 2018.. lets hear more about how the tires and lift control and such are different? totally amateur hour here. most of it is just talking about how great the bikes are.. and yes, they are, but thats not new news and basically all the bikes on the market these days are good.

      Nishkar Thulsie S1000RR is a japanese bike on quality control. R1 crossplane and different. R1 and R1M have a euro feel and the sound is amazing...

    • @brois841
      @brois841 6 лет назад +2

      Nishkar Thulsie, have you priced out the BMW with equivalent features? The basic R1 is the better buy. Agree about the sound and it has a different acceleration characteristic when pushed. Much more like an RSV4. Excellent handling which invites you to push harder and very stable leaned over. Unfortunately my 2015 doesn't have the updated electronics of the newer R1's. I wish Yamaha had a way of updating the rider-aid settings.

    • @bostontricolore6958

      BROis The R1 is a great buy. R1M has the sexy ohlins and some other nice features. And special access with R1M owners group.

    • @brois841
      @brois841 6 лет назад

      Boston, ahh... the special exclusive access! Hehehe. I guess different strokes for different folks. I debated which to buy and went for base R1 with aftermarket (custom) Ohlins. However, if I were buying a fun street bike/garage queen/whatever.... maybe I would have chosen differently. Are you in Boston? Do track days/race?

    • @bostontricolore6958
      @bostontricolore6958 6 лет назад

      BROis i like track days havent done any with latest bike. Previous bike was a Duc 1299 base. I didnt keep it for lo ng.. My plan was to install ohlins products and full Akra over time. But soon realized i didnt want to ride a duc superbike with a stock exhaust. That sucked and i wasnt ready to run out and drop 5k plus on a exhaust right away. You need exhaust to drown out the engine noise. Bikes sound like crap without a exhaust..
