Never apologize for breaking a song down lyrically, fellas, cause that's what sets you apart from everyone else. It's these breakdowns that have increased my appreciation for rap and have really turned me on to so many new artists. I don't come from this culture so the breakdowns allow me access. And holy SHIT was this song fire. Playlist for certain.
It's time, boys and girls, for Haiku Request Line! Here we go.
Lingus is the song
Snarky Puppy killin'it
Your minds will be blown
Avelino was homeless when he was discovered by Wretch 32. That’s why he’s so humble and looks up to wretch
The UK that has social security and he is homeless 🤔😂😂
@@bahjomohamed1636 what?
@@bahjomohamed1636 What're you even chatting?
@@bahjomohamed1636 Circumstances. Dont judge over the internet
@@bahjomohamed1636 Man, you're right but it still happens. No system is perfect, especially not this one we're living in.
Been waiting patiently for some Avelino 🔥🔥 excellent review 🙏🏼🙏🏼
Love the UK reactions, nice to see you guys taking interest in the UK scene, some other suggestions
Konan - Last Night in LA / UK Hip Hop
Krept - Last Night in Lagos (insane wordplay)/ UK Hip Hop
Skepta - That’s Not Me / UK Grime
Wretch 32 - His and Hers / UK Hip Hop
Dizzee Rascal - I Luv U / UK Grime
Dave - Samantha / UK Hip Hop
Kano - 3 Wheel-Ups / UK Grime
Obviously you all about the hype ,these guys only react to creativity geniuses and uniqueness, being able to rap doesn’t mean you possess such talent
Skepta - Shutdown
See what you think of Skepta biggest track.
whats the difference in hiphop and grime?
Thank you for the reaction to more uk artists love from the UK
Of course!
Lost In Vegas hi guys please react to avelino f64 all so keep up the good work
I am so glad you guys are still putting out videos cuz I just discovered your Channel 2 days ago and I've been binge watching them all day
Also, I love how you guys love MUSIC. My father always told me, (and he was a musician) that there really is no such thing as bad music. What someone calls trash could be someone else's treasure. Music is universal and in one way or another effects everyone. Whether negative or positive, it has an effect. Again, love and respect
I definitely appreciate you guys explaining why something is good, thank you! It's especially helpful for people that aren't familiar with whatever genre you're talking about, so we can know what to look for as we continue to explore the genre.
Lets get it back to the UK scene and Avelino at that. Imma keep it a hundred and say Avelino has the kit to crossover and make some noise out here in the US but he just needs the right PR and prolly link up with some of the rappers here and represent for the UK. He got the wordplay and his delivery with his accent is good as well and I was rocking with it. So I hope Avelino makes it big man and great job dissecting the bars on this record Lost In Vegas.
Do JME - Integrity!
Skepta’s little bro
ruclips.net/video/TwHsg2XO--c/видео.html
They need to check out Dave’s new stuff too! Especially Hangman. His Game Over EP was fire as well
I think its more likely to see AJ Tracey blow across the pond
Wonder what they'd make of D Double E.
Avelino is 🔥🔥🔥
Try his song 1 in a Million. It’s more melodic and perhaps less about lyricism but is a TUNE and personally was in my top 5 songs of the year. Shows his versatility. Av definitely has the talent and potential to appeal to the mainstream and also cross over internationally. 🔥🔥🔥
Really appreciate your work guys, especially when you react powerfully and just hype and get fun from it, including for the analysis of lines that you do not miss ! Personally i watch LiV, because many now just forgot how much in rap "the word" itself is important .. And it's dope that you appreciate UK, Avelino is truly great, but you MUST check Ghetts, it's one of the UK legends (and Grime legends ofc) - you must react Ghetts - Daily Duppy; or Fire in the Booth and etc. Make justice for this man. Greetings from Russia!
Nothing better then you guys doing uk music plz keep them coming
React to krept - last night in Lagos.
For Christ sake just do it already!!!
shaun dean asking for this for a year lol
For real😭😭😭
Krept isn’t that clever lyrically, doesn’t feel natural through his delivery but production is good maybe hence why they haven’t reacted
MrMaxxxy007 In last night in Lagos he has very clever lyricism though. Especially in that part where he says the words backwards. They SLIP UP as PUPILS, eat DESSERTS when they're STRESSED, because she LIVED with the DEVIL. That's crazy!
MrMaxxxy007 krept and konan have the best punchlines in the game no one can fuck with them
Admittedly, rap isn't my thing. That said, your videos really put it in perspective. It's certainly given me more respect and appreciation for the genre even if it won't make a playlist.
Marc Arsenault - I felt the same way, man. Some of these do have some very slick lines. Won't listen to most rap but I enjoy the vids these guys do and their analyses of them. It makes me appreciate it more, like you said.
As a UK rap fan, and used to be an American rap fan I would suggest that if you ever do want to put rap in your playlist then do uk rap because it is a lot more lyrical than American rap. I'm American by the way.
Great video as usual guys!
Been a subscriber for a few months now (since I saw your reaction to Wretch & Avelino FITB) but it's my first time commenting.
The power of your channel to introduce people to music is amazing. I'm actually from the UK, yet you've introduced me to a few songs by UK artists I hadn't actually heard about myself. Personally, I've been a much bigger fan of US rap for the last decade or so because I felt the lyricism was at a much better standard and to me that's the most important thing for a rapper to have. It's so refreshing to see reviews where the lyrical content is being recognised and commended, so props to you guys for that!
I'm not sure I agree with you on Wretch and Avelino being the big two in the UK though haha. I'd love to hear you listen to some more music by Dave. I genuinely get a similar feeling when listening to his music as I did listening to Section.80 by Kendrick; he's finding his musical identity and something big is coming in the future. His lyricism is on important matter, his wordplay (he DID mean that Dominos pizza wordplay haha) and flow are incredible for someone so young and I really do see him crossing over into the US.
A few of his songs that I think you'd really like and that show his raw talent are My 19th Birthday, his latest single Hangman and particularly Panic Attack (Live from Future Festival 2017) ( ruclips.net/video/kD86A-y6ErU/видео.html ) which is just him and a piano and really showcases his talent.
Thanks for all the great content and recommendations guys. Keep doing what you're doing and you deserve all the success you get! :)
💯
Yep, 100 comment. I’m from Australia and been into Grime for ages, but these guys break down is so nice.
Gents, allow me to take this moment of your time to say thank you. From one free thinker to another. I'm a 2nd generation 'Murican (Mexican/American) that grew up in many different cities so sink, swim, or be the Captain were the only options for me. The music I grew up with was Tejano (Spanish country) but, Rap Rock, R&B and Blues was in my ears before I was sneaking off in my pops Caddy. I don't recall exactly how I stumbled upon your channel but I'm grateful for it none the less. Watching you two grow more comfortable in your own skin has given me some confidence to get from writing to the other side of the lens.
As a token of my appreciation and knowing how much you two seem to enjoy the writing of a lyrical artist but something you could also jam out to.... take a peek at
TOBE TWIGWE - JOCKIN or FUEGO.
Houston artist with content and sick flow.
Enjoy.
Loved listening and experiencing this, I'm usually a metal/hard rock guy myself. This dude is so clever the way he wrote this tune, thanks for breaking it down, will definitely keep listening to this guy.
Really insightful reaction as usual Ryan & George. Always love when you come with the UK music man. You say Avelino is easily your favourite rapper from over here but you haven't reacted to a huge proportion of UK rappers at all as of yet, we've got a lot more talent over here for sure. You 100% need to listen to Kano, as well as MCs like Ghetts, Chip, Nines, Giggs, Fredo, Wiley to name a few.
Also I know you 2 prefer listening to actual songs but here in the UK freestyle videos like Fire in the Booth are a huge part of the culture. They're often used as a platform for MCs to show how hard their bars are and are broadly used as a marker for who's the best in the scene. Would love to see you react to Kano's Fire in the Booth, along with Bugzy Malone's and also Nines'.
Keep up the great work man
Harrison ghetts maybe up there honestly think giggs is so overrated chip is alright but avelino still betters all of them
Never listened to UK/European rap until I heard it on you guys’ channel. I’ve been fucking bumpin it recently, thank you for introducing me! You guys should check out Ghost Division by Sabaton
I truly wish nothin but the best for you guys. Y’all have so much positive energy and y’all give great points and critiques. I pray that y’all have non stop success. I’ve become to only watch this channel on my spare time cuz you guys are great entertainment. No one does these reaction videos like y’all. Great work fellas
I challenge you to find every bit of wordplay in krept - last night in Lagos. You two are gonna go off it when you listen to it.
Bro we need to restart the movement
NIN - Closer for an intro to industrial music
You guys should really check out anything done by Wiley in order to really get what the UK sound really sounds like. Like Avelino is super sick, but he's still much more hip-hop than genuinely grime.
Darryl Chia But... Hip Hop > Grime
There isn't one UK sound though. That's a good thing.
Love your breakdowns! Don't stop!
I always watch y'alls videos when I'm early to work and sitting in the parking lot. Good job from Louisiana!
I was watching your reviews of Metallica and Megadeth and it hit me that if your Channel puts out merchandise you two should have your own bobbleheads... And I mean that in the most sincere form of flattery. That would be awesome
that could work sir, I like the idea
Laurens Rodi they should go for it, wish them guys the best of everything
Could you please react to
Wretch 32 his and hers perspective
Konan Last night in LA
If your looking for word play
fgc ryan hart?
Konan was spitting a madness on last night in la
Avon Barksdale exactly his work play and references was crazyyyy
Dave - Hangman
Great vid! Love your UK reactions.
You were pretty much right with the "When this winner stays on / The game can control us" bar. "Winner stays on" is something you do when you're with your mates playing FIFA (the football [soccer] video game). If you win a game you get to play the next game, and so on 'til you lose. And yeah I think you're right that he's punning on "controllers" with "control us", as in Xbox/Playstation "controllers". Not sure what the bar means overall though! My impression is that "the game can control us" is a reference to how winner-stays-on sessions can go for ages if the same person keeps winning. And the analogy is presumably with the rap "game", the music business. Is he saying that the constant success he's been having is making him obsessive in making his music in some way? Someone help me out...
With the controller things it's very common in UK, when playing FIFA for example with a large group of friends we play with 'winner stays on rules'; the loser passes their controller over to someone else to try and beat the winner and the winner holds onto their controller. So he's been winning consecutively.
Great video guys, Avelino is one of the best rappers over here out now and I love that you've shined some light on some of the most talented MC's from the UK. If you guys like UK Mc's such as Avelino and Wretch 32 (arguably my favourite UK MC) you'd definitley like Klashnekoff, an extermely gifted but criminally slept on MC from London who in my opinion one of the best MC's the UK has ever produced . He only released two real albums (the rest are dope mixtape albums) but his first album, the sagas of Klashnekoff 2 is a certified UK underground hip hop classic. It would be great if you could review or react to possibly his most popular song "Murda", "all I got" or"B4 u die" or "parrowdice" which features members from his crew, terra firma (who are also talented). There are a few other standouts in the UK scene such as Kano, ("the product" being a personal favourite), JME ("no one wants a punch in the face") Kojey Radical ("fuck your feelings") Ghetts ("top three selected") but Klashnekoff for me just as talented is cut above
Why are you not doing J Cole's new album K.O.D. or his video for ATM off of K.O.D. His album in #1 in US and 35 other countries. His track K.O.D. off the album broke Spotify's 24 hr record for most spin (4.2...) and unseated Taylor Swift (3.88). The album is fire and so mind blowing. Please I've been looking for the notification all the week-end. It dropped 4/20/18.
Check out our post on our community tab...
LiV - greetings from Vegas, had to come get some of your ☀️ this week! This dude is super dope. Things I love about UK rap- the accent and the slang. In all other music you don't hear the accent and I love how it affects the word play ✌️
I remember the first time going through a playlist in my car with the system volume near max and Avelino - FYO came on. The windows barely survived.
As always awesome vid as usual and thanks for introducing a new artist to me. #freethinkers Also did you guys check out j.cole new album yet?
That interpretation of relevancy into currency is easy is correct and one could say a nod to the old adage "Talent beats hard work when talent doesn't work hard".
Also many whom we refer to as "Clout chasers" have little to zero talent but are relevant because of what they do i.e. trolling etc
Love your enthusiasm here, getting me excited for rap. Keep m coming!
Ryan's like "I didn't want that to end" lol
I loooove that you guys post multiple videos a day, makes yall the best music reationers (idk if thats a word) but anyway love you guys, been rockin with yall somce the beginning. Id love for yall to review blue lights by jorja smith (the colors version) or We Could Be Better by Janine. Keep up the great vids ❤
Not a big UK rap guy but Avelino is HARD!
Do Alcest - Oiseaux de Proie! It's a sound you havent really heard before so I'd be interested to hear your take.
Daniel Mayes this is a solid request! Alcest are so different
Ayy, big up Raf Riley on the production for this tune! Also, I’m telling you Avelino -U Can Stand Up ft Dave!
My world doesn't really include rap or hop hop (or really any inner -city lifestyle norm) so I am grateful that you guys are taking the time to show what and why
You guys should react to Disturbed "Down with the sickness". Then react to their sound of silence cover, to see the range of the band
TheAllstar1616 - Ahhhh, Down with the Sickness... A classic indeed.
I really respect your reviews, nice breakdown as usual. Have you by any chance listened to Kano, he's a legendary UK MC.
shåy dëhya kano’s on point mate
Man big love for you guys from south london, MY G'S , love how in depth you guys go. showing these guys what real rap is about
I was getting ready to remind you about da UK but you beat me to it !!!!.. Avelino is legit . His video U can Stand up is fire...also listen to Black Sabbaths Changes .lyrics are so deep. Before I found your channel I would never have listened to Sabbath let alone recommend one of their songs . Guess i'm a freethinker in the making , MAJOR respect to Lost in Vegas.
Toehider - Whatever Makes You Feel Superior.
Would love to hear your thoughts on this amazing one man band.
Absolutely! The talent in this band/man is incredible. He needs more love and you guys can help give some!
You guys ganna do some J.Coles songs from his album
"some songs" HAHAHA
"Soul Sacrifice" - Santana Live at Woodstock in 1969
Amazing old-school jam.
You guys are breath of fresh air on youtube. I'm so glad I ran into your Holy Wars reaction all those months ago. You should check out We Will Fall Together by Streetlight Manifesto!
Jus a Rascal - Dizzie Rascal
Do Slipknot - Disasterpiece. pleeeease! It's the best song for an all round Slipknot showcase.
To clarify, “winner stays on” is a common game stipulation in the UK when kids play football (soccer for our US friends). It’s literally that - the winner gets to carry on playing whereas the loser sits out the next game.
Great reaction guys, Avelino is hard.
I Love you guys talking about UK rappers. We have been there since day one and we get it. Rapping is in out blood - black and white.
FAITH NO MORE--MIDLIFE CRISIS
AVATAR ; Let it burn or Hail the Apocalypse live at Wacken
Glad you guys are giving the UK love. I'm Canadian and they are popular in Canada, I would love to see more stateside exposure. Wavey Tunes!!!!
Wanna know Remix - Dave Feat Drake
Mad About Bar-M Huncho
Fisherman- jhus mostack mist
Mist-Smokey
Blessings- Cooper Rexx
Man, I think the "reaction" movement part of music has really opened my eyes and allowed me to think of music in a completely different form of view. Ryan and George really nail it though when you go in depth about the lines and what they mean and it honestly makes me kind of connect to the artist and what they're thinking and feeling and getting to react to that along side you guys is putting me on a whole nother level. Cheers
Architects - these colors don’t run
Wretch 32 or Kano are the best in the Uk
still think av is the best
Cuan Partridge loooool
I love how he raps about lifting the people up around him as if he was mentoring to a young boy. Very humble but slick. I definitely like where Avelino is coming from. Much respect!
... and to continue..... Tool-Jambi. TOOL-JAMBI, TOOL-JAMBI, TOOL-JAMBI, TOOL-JAMBI, TOOL-JAMBI, TOOL-JAMBI, TOOL-JAMBI, TOOL-JAMBI!!!!
Turtles all the way down-Sturgill Simpson
Nose on the grindstone- Tyler Childers
Follow you to virgie- Tyler Childers
Kate McCannon- Colter wall
Please do Led Zeppelin - Stairway To Heaven
Been getting in to avelino lately but haven't heard this song. Shit is dope.
I loved that line, "They're turning lyricist into a dirty word now". I also love how much new rap you guys have introduced me to, coming from a mostly metal background but always appreciating rap, it's been hard to find rappers in modern times that I liked but you seem to unearth some great ones! So I just want to thank you for that
Winner stays on is a tournament style of play in which the person who wins the last bout gets to stay on for the next until there is only one overall champ at the end. I think this must be a reference to the "crabs in a barrel" effect for modern rappers in which only one person can be top and it's like nobody else exists at all. We seem not to be able to appreciate a range of talent as someone always has to win or be top. When everybody is competition, a brother cannot help his brother. That makes us easy to control as the many do not all get to win together - only one individual at any given time. Great way to make the point!
J. Cole - ATM VIDEO (KOD ALBUM) 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
React to Jorja Smith - On my mind
Yesssssss, need some UK garage on this channel
Isaac Luke yes!!!
Usually when playing multiplayer games (Fifa, MK, 2k) and it is winners stay on
It means the losers drop the 🎮 for the next person and the winner gets to play with the next person.
The players have to do all it takes to win the game so as to keep on playing. At that point, the game is in control.
WordPlay on game and control.
It can also refer to the rap scene where every artist thrives to be the Top Boy.
And how the grind is in control.
Yeah!!!!! I've been waiting for that so long!
PEARL JAM BLACK PLEASE SIRS
Dudes do Metallica creeping Death
Damn .. I love the way you guys champion avelino , here in the uk 🇬🇧 they don't take him in enough he is so underrated!! He's pen game is so crazy ..
Every other line flew over my head because of that slick delivery
Listen to Type O Negative - Love you to death. I will never stop until you review this song!
Please listen to more UK music!
Mic righteous - fire in the booth part 3
Lowkey - Ahmed (very political)
Habibur Rahman Mic righteous fire in the booth part 3! It’s what I’m waiting for!!!
Oh, and great reaction. I'm not a hiphop fan but this was definitely good. I'm an old hardrock/metalhead so your first time reactions are awesome.
I like that he said other than. He's still got someone he looks up to....which keeps you humble and working...and shows respect...plus it is unexpected.

A Perfect Circle - TalkTalk
Tool - Vicarious
Volbeat - Still Counting
Puscifer - Telling Ghosts
A Perfect Circle - Orestes
The list grows ever larger :v.
KOD album reaction!
Just found you guys over the weekend, and I've already watched a ton of your vids. Good stuff! How about reviewing (reacting to) Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds - Stagger Lee or Red Right Hand, and Pulp - Common People or Babies? Keep up the great work!
Any Nick Cave song ❤
One thing I've learned about Modern Hip-Hop that the one element you need to have in order to be successful is FLOW. Flow with both the lyrics and how you break them down with your vocal ability. You apply that fluidity within the beat and you get a successful Hip-Hop Artist. This Avelino dude is nothing but FLOW. Loved it from start to finish.
God damn that song went hard!!!! Gotta check out more of this guy
finally someone who agrees with me that avelino is the best in the uk
Glad to see that you like Avelino. In his Daily Duppys (very clever he's got 2) he gives Wretch props as well. Have a look at Avelino F64, clever writing again. Keep up the good work
Hi Ryan and George, always a pleasure listening to you intelligently break down bars. I know you both love Avelino so why not react to his Daily Duppy and Behind Barz; you will be pleased.
Winner stays on is a reference to the football game FIFA. For example, If there's a bunch of your friends around your house, it's 1 on 1 and the winner stays on to play the next person in line
YES YES YES!!! I'VE BEEN WAITING 🔥🔥🔥🔥
Great reaction fam much love from the UK 👊✊👍
Hey guy I just found your channel yesterday and have been watching all I can.
I'm a young guy but don't really listen to new music and it kills me when people look over all the great old music, i like you guys because you try to shed some light on music that some would pass right over.
P.S. I'd love to hear what you think of John Prines - Sam Stone or Hello in there, this guy is a story teller!
Oh also Black The Ripper - Light Up Everywhere! Great video as well!
Alright guys. I just found you via a friend. Love what you do, love how you are into the actual art of music. I'll throw out that I'm a niche metalhead (folk and power metal alongside the classics)
I challenge you to a journey, a power-ballad. Avantasia "The Wicked Symphony" or "Let the Storm Descend Upon You" Hell, theres other bands (tyr, Turrisas, Eluveitie [and I fully believe that you will enjoy all three, but hell, I wanna see you guys feel a powerballad start to end])
Wretch and Avelino are probably the best lyricists we have in the UK, if you listen to more of wretch 32s freestyle you will understand why he said that hes his mr.miyagi, wretch is insane!!!!
On the US tip, probably the most slept on MC is Brooklyn's own Skyzoo. I don't know if you guys haven't got round to reacting to him yet or already aware of his talents but Skyzoo is lowkey arguably the most talented mc of his generation hands down. He recently released a great album titled "In celebration of us" layered with great tracks I think you guys would like such as it's epic intro "everybody's fine", "sound like", "hoodie SZN" which are standouts to me. You's also like the excellent "Bambo", "Finesse Everything, "For Real(er)", "Everything's for sale" (personal favourite) and countless others I could name but I'll be here all day. Simply put, you guys won't be disappointed.
Heard the FULL album! Skyzoo has BEEN nice! Great suggestion my man.
Kieron Boothe is another UK Rapper that comes to mind. Great Video!
I recently stumbled upon you guys and I am so glad I did. You guys are truly bringing people together with music and It is incredible. Covering so many different genres, I watched like all of your metal and rock reviews in one shot. I think I heard Ryan say a few times that he wished hip-hop would incorporate more instruments like a band but the chemistry is not the same. I highly recommend you both check out Gym Class Heroes, even if you don't review them they are incredible. They are a hip hop BAND. So many good songs it is hard to pick a favorite. Please look them up, you will not regret it. Cant wait for more reactions!
New Friend Request, peace sign up/index down or Papercuts would be a good start.
Your reactions are so refreshing. I absolutely have shared your reactions. Others react and repeat bars, well anyone listening can do that! Your skill of interpretation creates an opportunity to entice new fans to a world of talent and in this case UK talent. Thank you for that guys.
This isn't new but I think you might enjoy this and I would love to see your reaction to something a little different, The 15th - Wretch 32 and Avelino. It's off of their collaborated album. Great album, I never skip a track.
I have never had any connection to any scene- I got into punk by following the chain of something I liked. Same with metal. Same with country. Same with rap.
I know what I like, so when I want more of it I look at what the people I listen to listen to. I look for lists of similar artists.
That said, I never heard of this guy before. Missed your last look at Avelino. But when I like rap it's all about the lyrics. I like clever rhymes. I like socio/political commentary. When those blend- it's huge for me.
This guy is great, so thanks for bringing this! I already said it on the Eyedea upload, but I'll say it again. I'd love to see a reaction to Sage Francis, Immortal Technique, Illogic, Atmosphere, Aesop Rock, But most of all- The Coup.
Only tune in for the UK reactions
