I love how John is not ashamed of the gospel and sharing it. It reminds me of the quote from Penn Gillette (an atheist) that really convicts me. He had someone give him a bible and share the gospel, this was part of his response. "“I’ve always said that I don’t respect people who don’t proselytize. I don’t respect that at all. If you believe that there’s a heaven and a hell, and people could be going to hell or not getting eternal life, and you think that it’s not really worth telling them this because it would make it socially awkward-and atheists who think people shouldn’t proselytize and who say just leave me along and keep your religion to yourself-how much do you have to hate somebody to not proselytize? How much do you have to hate somebody to believe everlasting life is possible and not tell them that?
Thank you, John and Alisa, for what you do and the encouragement you are!! Praise GOD!!

ALISA IS INTERVIEWING JOHN AND TREATED HIM LIKE A SERIOUS BIBLICAL CHRISTIAN SEEKING HIS ADVICE FOR OTHER BELIEVERS. WHERE IS THE DISCERNMENT IN MOST BELIEVERS LIVES TODAY? WHAT SEEMS NOT TO BE SO BLATANTLY OBVIOUS IS THE APOSTASY THAT IS ON FULL DISPLAY ON SUNDAY MORNINGS IN THE SLEEPING CHURCH OF AMERICA.

@Harold Huseby That's definitely a message Christians need to hear..
I heard an online sermon along those same lines. I've been thinking about it ever since. Even up to the point of thinking about being in a life and death scenario. If someone is about to kill you, would you defend yourself if defending yourself resulted in their life ending?
If you're a repentant believer, you'll still have eternal life if you don't defend yourself and allow them to kill you. But if you do defend yourself, and kill the attacker, then most likely they could spend eternity in hell, because you cut short the extra time they would've had to repent and turn towards God, had you laid down your own life.

This toxic "tolerance and acceptance" thing going too. Not everything should be accepted and tolerated. Jesus might've loved everyone but never said they didn't have to change from their sinful ways. He showed he loved them by accepting for the state they're in and then encouraging them to change their ways for the better of themselves and the community.

As a millennial so much of the “don’t rock the boat” stuff really hits hard. We’ve been raised to speak the truth but…you can’t talk about the gospel at work/school because it upsets people. You could lose your job for sharing God’s love. Yet you MUST speak the truth. Wait….what?!

Great message here! We definitely have to be well equipped and prepared for “battle” in this culture. But we should not shy away from it, or just be on the defensive!
I just wanted to add, that this does take some spiritual maturity because the power of sin and Satan is strong. It is far easier to get pulled down into sin, then pull someone up out of it.
John, we need more leaders like you who are not afraid to defend our faith!

The spiritual darkness and fear is *so* thick now, we have to choose a side, choose Christ, and *not* bow down to it. You can't have both faith *and* fear controlling your life, mind or heart - as John says, it's a war and we cannot compromise. It's much tougher now so more than ever before we need to defy fear and walk in FAITH! "We have Yahweh in our corner!!"✝️🙏 Fantastic conversation and album, thanks for the encouragement!!

I really struggle with anger towards secular people who hate God and call His good evil and their evil good. My heart has grown so cold towards people who hate God. It’s frustrating they can’t see the world is so upside down. It’s frustrating being the minority when it comes to believing and centering my world view based on biblical beliefs.

It's definitely tough when people actively hate Christianity, but I have come to find more and more compassion for each one I encounter as I have prayed for their hearts to soften and that they would find the Lord. The only way we could ever possibly convince anyone to reconsider the gospel is to approach them with the love of Christ. Especially in a world where people only yell each other's opinions and name-call, truth in kindness is the only thing that can strike a chord.

Can't wait! I love that he talks about rebellion. I've been feeling so strange to be the"rebellious"one the last few years regarding CRT, Covid, BLM and LGBTQIA+. I grew up being made fun of for being too obedient, too goodie goodie, too innocent, the list goes on. I was homeschooled so I knew the criticism was worse just bc of that😂. But now I'm suddenly unloving, rebellious, racist, mean, prideful, ect bc I don't like nor do I believe we should be teaching the Post Modern Marxist ideologies that are behind CRT and BLM in schools or in our Churches. I am mostly shocked and grieved at people's negative response towards me regarding what I believe the Church's response towards LGBTQIA+ should be which is to call out sin for sin and not allow the LIFESTYLE of that group into our churches the same way I don't believe we should be looking the other way when the straight youth minister or worship minister is sleeping around and everyone knows it but he's a "leader" and no one is perfect so it's ok somehow.

I'm in the same position as you my man of going from being regarded as too goodie goodie to being extremely rebellious without actually changing my beliefs or convictions. Not that I mind of course. I will be praying for you! There are always difficulties in this life when one is a Christian, and we can always find joy in those difficulties through God and His word.

    • @robertdouglas8895

As Charlie says, there can be joy in difficulties. But there is no joy in conflict because with conflict you have one good side and the other bad. We are all on the same team. I used to tell my youth sports teams that the other team is not your enemy, it's your teacher. We can only speak truth when it comes from God's peace and that can only be when we forgive and connect with God's thoughts.

Thank you for this encouraging podcast! As a young woman, it’s saddening to see people I know that are believers falling to the change of the culture & some drifting away from God. Thank you for the words of encouragement Alisa & John! It not easy to run the good race of faith but thank God we don’t ever have to do it alone. Very good point John said that is true, Culture has changed & not Christians when the world sees it as the other way around. I took a bold step to share what the Bible says about the rainbow’s meaning & I knew it would cost me some bonds in people that I know or are mutuals in the pop culture community. I knew I would be getting backlash at some point but I cared about God’s truth more & sharing it then pleasing people. I wanted to let people know that just because I am a Christian doesn’t mean I see myself better than anyone else because I too struggle with things. I had a young lady telling me through social media that I wasn’t loving just by my stance as a Christian in some topics & by what the Bible says and she was curious on somethings & I shared her the truth of scripture in some topics. I know it wouldn’t be easy for her to take it but I rather share the truth then lie. I rather share her the truth then tell her a lie. I knew a bit of her story but I can tell the culture influenced how she sees the gospel & as John mentioned from the Bible. Lord help us to stand up for His truth & all of us to turn the good fight of faith.

I'm in a similar boat! Lately as I've listened to my trusted fellow believers on youtube, I am realizing I have gotten pretty lax on my Bible reading and intentional time with God. As both an introvert and someone who has always had more of a "seed planter" than a preach-on-the-streets sort of ministry, my desire is to immerse myself so much in the Word that people will outright want to know what's up with me -- AND -- I will be *ready* to share because I have been preparing through study! As I say that, perhaps that is what God has been waiting for during this time, sort of a, "if you read it, they will come" 😉

Alisa, it is always a blessing when you have John Cooper visiting. Yes, I am one of those people who really enjoys John Cooper coming on you're show. Far to few 'Watchmen' speaking up, and out as he has both directly and in his music, unfortunately I have yet to hear Skillet music, but I hear what you say about their music and therefore look forward to obtaining his latest album. I have stared clear of most modern Christian music such as Hillsong, and Vineyard, I know not to go there, and I know Skillet is in a far different league and statue when it comes to 'safe' Worship. I agree with you Mr Cooper, Music belongs to God, no matter what genre it comes from, actually as someone like yourself will already be well aware of, everything is His, He created ALL Things! Thank you for you're timely words, they resonate here in New Zealand. We are facing similar 'fears,' we are experiencing in the West what the rest of the World has been experiencing in one form or another for just over two thousand years. It would appear our time has come. We were told in Scripture that those who love Him, Jesus, will be hated as He is hated, therefore we should not be surprised. I am praying for strength and courage, to not be cowardly in my actions, to not bow that knee to Caesar, my belief is that He will see me through, no matter how high the cost, am I scared, sure, not always though, I'm human, but like all human beings I am created Imago Dei! I believe, and am washed clean because He paid my price in full on that Cross, on that momentous, historical, and prophesied day! I trust Him to see me through no matter what that may finally mean for me personally!

29:27 I've been experiencing anxiety every day, since I had a seizure about 7 or 8 years ago.
I mentally know that I shouldn't fear, but knowing that alone isn't making the anxiety go away.
When someone tells me to calm down or don't fear while I'm having a bad anxiety spell, it's like telling someone to not shiver when they're chilled to the bone. Or it's like telling someone not to react when you tickle one of their ticklish spots.
It's not a light switch I can simply turn off. Again, mentally, I know I should not fear. But it comes out of nowhere with such an intense weight and effect that it feels physical.. It's kept me from leaving my house for years, even before the current stuff that's going on.

    • @ivylagrone8632
      @ivylagrone8632 2 года назад

Dear Guts, I am sorry you are dealing with this.
It sounds like you have a structural, physical issue going on that was caused by the seizure. The anxiety isn't your fault or caused by not trusting enough, etc. Maybe it would help to talk yourself through it when it happens. Something like "What I'm feeling, what I'm thinking isn't truth. It isn't based on what's going on around me. It's my body/brain misfiring. I am safe. This will pass."
Or, you could try just observing the feelings and physical response like an outside observer. Notice without labeling what's happening to be good or bad.
      God bless you.

I don't know...I've listened to Cooper here in past episodes but this one is not sitting well with me. I think some of his ideas skim uncomfortably close to Theonomy. You clarified at one point that he was not talking about dominion the way NAR would but Theonomy is a close cousin. So many are becoming aligned with this movement. It would be hard to see you get swept into it.

Caryn, I am also wary of Theonomy, and Dominion Theology. The homeschool curricula I used was rife with it. Alisa did offer a disclaimer at the beginning of the show, but I notice John said nothing one way or the other. Time will tell. Let's not stop praying!

This interview was very disturbing. He is zealous for our rights. Under the name of Christianity, he wants to make our country better. Is he zealous for the Gospel purely because he loves Jesus? I did t hear that.

He lists John Piper and Tim Keller as influences and urges others to listen to them too. He also had a lot of friends within the NAR network. I can't say more than that, and so I am withholding judgment -- but it made me very uneasy too.

I”ve never been interested to listen to John Cooper before. I don’t like his type of music at all, so he is not a person on my radar. But the title of this podcast, and the fact that it is Alisa Childer’s podcast, made me want to click on it. I was very impressed with the conversation, the encouragement he gave is spot on. Christians are being called to stand up, stand up for Jesus as soldiers of the cross. We’ve sung the songs for our entire lives, now it’s time to live them. Forget the vaccines etc. We need to be standing up for righteousness, the Word of God and our faith in the saving grace of Christ. We are living in the days of Psalm 2 where the enemies of God are raging, imagining that they can break the bands of Heaven asunder and cast away the cords that God has placed around them. This is insanity and He who sits in the Heavens will laugh them to scorn. In the meantime, we need to put on our armor and take our stand, and having done all, just stand in the face of the rage knowing who is seated on the throne.

12:35 I've been thinking about this for quite a while, myself.
How I think it's going to be harder on us, as the world continues to stray farther from God, to the point of them passionately hating the qualities of God. Thus they will passionately hate those of us who shine His light.

Please remember Jesus told us to love our enemies and pray for those who persecute us. I remember my own struggles with God and the Bible. We speak the truth in love, and if the person is offended, we ask God for the grace to keep loving them and praying for them. No?

My initial response is that the bible itself conflates rebellion with the sin of witchcraft, in 1 Sam. 15.23, so how can it be redeemed - it seems to me as if it cannot, and ought not to be encouraged by our teaching, Alisa?

    • @AnimaVox_

It's clear to me that they're referring to rebelling against the world and its statutes, not God. The two are very different things. To follow God is to rebel against the world.

    • @ivylagrone8632
      @ivylagrone8632 2 года назад

1 Samuel passage is specifically about Saul's rebellion and insubordination against God. It's not referring to all rebellion in general. By definition Jesus could have been accused of rebellion against the Jewish leaders, but, obviously, that wouldn't have been a sin as they were in rebellion against God and following them would then have led a person to also rebel against Him. ❤️🙂

John, those things you were talking about when the ‘state’ tells you what you can say or cannot say’. That is Canada right now! People do not see how freedom is eroding. I think it is the biggest case of ‘the emperors new clothes.’ I mean, good grief, those of us on this feed can see that the emperor is darn naked!

You talking about those sho think you're creating an unnecessary ruckus...it reminds me of the Ents, the talking trees in Lord of the Rings, who tried to opt out of the battle, not realizing they could not escape the inevitable progression.
