Wow, I’ve been starting to adopt secularism in my own walk without even knowing it. I guess I need to get back into consistently studying my Bible ASAP.
My Grandad always use to say if there comes a time in your life where your walk with Jesus has no adversity and doesn't separate you from the world your on the wrong road.
Wow… I’m a Christian teen and there is a walkout tomorrow over the l*btq stuff (I’m only censoring bc of yt) I live in the liberal state of Maryland, luckily not as bad as California lol, but I feel pressured and like I would be targeted for not going to a walkout at my school. It really sucks. I believe people should have basic human rights, but if I walk out it’s like I’m promoting EVERYTHING they believe in. When I really don’t believe every aspect of what they believe because it conflicts with Christianity. I empathize and sympathize with them but I don’t totally agree with them. The agenda is becoming too much and I feel like I will be a target. Even by my old acquaintances I just reconnected with who is more liberal might see me as evil and hateful for not participating in it. I honestly don’t know what to say because if I said I can’t they might cut me off. And I won’t even get to tell my testimony.
@@tiredoftheworld4834 I've had similar circumstances. I actually lost my best friend in high school because I chose to stand on the side of truth. Jesus said that the world would hate us if we followed Him, I believe this is why He emphasized the importance of us(Christians) loving each other and staying in unity. I would encourage you to seek out a community of believers, preferably one with other youths, and get active in serving, if you haven't already. You will have to make a choice to trust God and stand in truth or go along with the falsehood of culture. We have to remember that we are who God says we are, not who people perceive us to be. You can show love to them without supporting their "cause". Treat them the way you would want to be treated without affirming their wayward beliefs. If they ask you why you aren't participating, tell them the truth. "I feel for this community and they deserve to be treated with dignity and love but I don't agree with the overall stance or agenda". They will likely make many false accusations against you and call you names and shun you, try to make you feel like you're on the wrong side, try to twist you up with some weird logic, I've been there, it can be hard to take. In your response don't look to defend yourself or to appease the crowd, but seek rather to communicate the truth as best as you can. I promise you that anything you "lose" because of your stand wasn't any good to you. Associates, friends, popularity, none of it is worth denying the truth. I'll be praying for you, that God will strengthen your resolve but also surround you with support and that you'll hold to the faith and trust God to be your sword and shield, and that you'll stand in love and compassion but also in righteousness. Side Note: Read your bible young one. If you don't already. Search the scriptures for what God says about these issues. The bible isn't anti-gay, meaning it doesn't teach us to hate homosexuals. But the bible is clear on God's disdain for the SEXUAL ACT of homosexuality. Having attractions to the same sex isn't what the bible condemns, it's the act that is an abomination. That's not often understood by believers or unbelievers in my experience.

This is absolutely excellent, and so well timed!! This is literally exactly what I’ve come across for so many years now. And it’s been really strange, as someone who came to Christ as an adult…I honestly began to wonder if this was just Christianity. People are so hyper focused on never ever hurting any feelings, or offending anyone. Rather then just speaking Gods truth, evangelizing, apologetics, teaching, rebuking, and exhorting, according to the Word. People don’t seem to want to do any of those things, and they care SO MUCH about not offending instead! I have a direct personality, I’m an outgoing extrovert, and I love talking about God’s truths! But coming into the local church…. I struggle to find my place to fit in. I hear a lot of “oh don’t say that, be nice”. And I do think I’m being nice! I am walking kindly, and with grace, but I’m also saying the truth. And I’m always sort of dumbfounded when someone says a phrase like that to me. What should I even say back???!! And does your advise change knowing that it’s pretty much always women who say it, and what about when it’s an Elder’s wife?? How can I say something to help them grow in this area? But… not absolutely ruin the relationship.
I'm the same way as you in that I have a direct personality and love talking about God's truths! Which is by the way THE truth. A response that I often use is that The Bible does not call us to be nice, it calls us to be kind. Which is different. When you are being nice to someone, you are telling them what they want to hear. So you are only helping yourself. It is a selfish and wicked act. When you are being kind to someone, you tell them what they need to hear. Which may be soft, or may be harsh. You are helping them instead of yourself. It is a selfless and Christlike act. I pray that God gives you the right words to say in these situations without any form of compromise on what The Bible teaches. It is also important to remember that right speech needs to be backed up by right action. Both are important for expressing love towards God, helping others come closer to Christ, and in our Christian walk in general. God bless you!
I agree! Speaking the truth is kind. Speaking the truth is love. Of course we need to be yielded to the Holy Spirit and follow His lead, but we can't stand by and watch people driving off the cliff. I've often thought that all these "kind" "sensitive" people must really have a difficult time reading the powerful words of Jesus or Paul. But that's just it... I don't think they read the Bible. I often wonder how many "Christians" are actually born again. If we have been regenerated then our dependence on ourselves is what will be deconstructed! I think of Paul's pain when he had to constantly correct and reprove believers..."I will gladly spend and be spent for your souls; though the more abundantly I love you, the less I am loved."
Praise God for your personality! He made me bold as well! Remember that we are to always speak the truth in love. When you are doing this, refer to Ephesians 4:15 if I'm not mistaken, please check LOL. Remind them that love rejoices in the truth I think that's in 1st Corinthians.... if the truth hurts, that means that they are feeling conviction and that is the work of the Holy Spirit not to be grieved. This is assuming that you are speaking it in love and being patient and kind with your words. Sometimes there's no easy and nice way to say things, but it needs to be said if you love the person. You seem to have a good biblical head-on, so I think you're doing the right thing. Just keep praying for God's wisdom and to have HIM season your words with salt... and I will do the same God bless you Sister
The problem is that many, if not most, in the church are not born again (regenerated by the Holy Spirit). They have not surrendered their lives to Jesus Christ or even acknowledged that they are indeed a sinner both through birth (born with an adamic nature) and through their own actions (personal sins) who are in need of a Savior and repented of their sins with a godly sorrow. I fault the pulpits who are not preaching the Cross that all have sinned and fallen short of the glory of God and need to repent and receive Jesus into our hearts by faith trusting solely in what He accomplished for us on the Cross and His Resurrection for their salvation. Water baptism and church membership and good works do not save us but only the Blood that was shed on the Cross. I want to add that this was a great and much needed discussion.

I’ve grown tremendously through listening to him teach and do street evangelism with his deeply caring, refreshingly genuine, truly gospel centered sharing of Christ that leads to true recognition and repentance of sin. If the leaders are not Followers of Christ themselves then....? Secularism, Humanism, Worldlinism (is that a word), and the like is pretty much the lesson/presentation. Nevermind what the Spirit is saying to the church!
@@wendymtzc Repent of sins is made possible by the Atonement of Jesus Christ. John & Peter preached repentance (renouncing of sins) to hearers. Change of old way of thinking, turning away from sin, and seeking God & His righteousness. Jesus called sinners to repentance. Repentance is a by product.

I have never known committed, believing Christians to be anything but a minority. When I first became a born again, Christian believer, I had not wanted to be a "church going Christian", based on the people I knew. Hypocrisy is real; it's ugly, and God does hate it. But I thought, after I put my trust in Jesus to save me, and He had changed my life so much, that at least, if I had to bear the disrepute of being associated with them, it was all for Jesus's sake, and at least we could talk about Jesus together. Er, no. Those church-going Christians really didn't enjoy talking or thinking about Jesus at all. I remember trying to talk to a lady in my community, who went to church every time the door was open, taught Sunday school and everything, because, at least she knew what it was to love Jesus, right? I was about 12 at the time. And she exploded in rage at me, telling me that she "did her time" with Jesus, in all that time in church, and if I didn't shut up about Him, she didn't know what she was going to have to do to me to make me stop! I did not have any more experiences just like that, but I did begin to notice how often the church going people did not care what the Bible said. If it was one of the issues they gave lip service to, well, they were skillful at that. But if it was something they liked that the Bible condemned, or if it was something the Bible called good that they wanted to call evil, they made it clear that they didn't care what Jesus or anyone said in the Bible. And yeah, their political affiliations, and moral druthers, played a big part in that. So the picture I was left with was of big church goers, who probably would have applauded, grinning, when Clint Eastwood said in the movie, "I don't give a rat's ass about Jesus". Actually believing, knowing and loving Jesus, didn't seem to have any relationship with churchgoers at all. That wasn't quite true, but the ones who did, definitely were not making themselves "visible" to me. But there was preaching on the radio, or maybe you read a letter in the paper, or you had some access to Christian books, and here and there, there was an acknowledgement that believing in Jesus with saving faith was relatively rare. There were a whole contingent of believing Christians who distinguished between _born again_ and _cultural_ Christians. That's before politics co-opted the expression, "born again", as it now has "evangelical" (= gospel believing, not a political stance). Christian teachers barely talk about being born again anymore. Now, when Christianity is confused with a political philosophy, we are supposed to consider any who call themselves "Christian", part of the same movement, therefore "allies" in "the cause", a cause that can be spun into something quite antithetical to the gospel and trusting faith in the person of Jesus Christ. So no, we are not really all on the same side, although who doesn't wish we were? Christian is a biblical word, but it has sadly been stolen, to mean quite a few evil things in history, none of which reflect our God's truth, love or grace. They don't reflect Jesus's nature at all. They are against His heart, and slander Him to mean things that God clearly hates, if we believe the Bible. And notice how cultural Christian "belief" is attributed to social, psychological and political reasons. This is "hav(ing) a form of godliness and denying the power thereof." Paul told Timothy, "from such, turn away". The Bible teaches that believing Christians are not the majority. Nothing has happened that changes that.
Perfectly explained and thought out. Your experiences are so relatable to me. The church that I attend now, which was a solely a provision from God, truly love one another and most of all, fear God. I love talking about the Word and talking about the Lord, but I feel like everywhere I go other so-called Christian’s are just like “yeah, yeah, Jesus is cool we get it. Did you watch the football game?” It’s depressing when you just want to talk about God’s magnificent, and glorious attributes and His faithfulness and everyone just makes you feel like a joke. Absolutely discouraging.
That was so inspiring and elequently put. I agree whole heartedly! In what era was Jesus remotely popular? NONE and nothing will change, we must stick to the fundamentals and spread the word through tracs in the street or in any other way the Lord deems appropriate. Thank you!!!! Well written comment! I’ve noticed this as well. When you are truly born again you see where most churches today are lacking (they might never go deep and it’s motivational stuff you can get from the world), but being a Christian, it’s a walk, but it’s worth it. And it’s a walk many aren’t willing to work out. Once I discovered the truth, and the pervasive darkness in our world to the extremes I just had to realize that what the world calls “love” most times really isn’t. Or it appears all nice but has toxic consequences. And real Christians are truly a minority. People who have been born again see Jesus as a chore/just like that lady implied:jail time. Which I find appalling. One Christian RUclips who exposes false Teachers made a video on statistics which showed that that most current percentage of people who call themselves Christians today don’t even read or believe in the Bible themselves. Some people live double lives doing religious duties and look good at church but the heart doesn’t change. I think some people running individual churches have failed to lead with the Bible, talk about the times we are in and get deep into Bible prophecy, because that is what woke me up and helped get me saved. When I got saved I felt like I was free from my sins I was a slave to. All those sins crushed me and made me more isolated, stressed and depressed and addicted. That all kept me from ignoring or forgetting Jesus, even when as a little girl I was so interested in the Bible, but the secular world and all its lusts blinded me as I got older, and the progressive church I was at did nothing much to combat it (I am so blessed to have read Genesis and revelation and my children’s Bible as a child. I also asked really deep questions in Sunday school.) I really appreciate some things about them but they are lacking and don’t want to uphold some ways how Jesus wanted things to be done. They could help many more people get saved and not be stuck in lukewarmness and double lives if the gospel was deeply preached and we know the times we are living in and how to stand together as the body of Christ. But how can I stand together with them if they don’t want to talk about the Bible more?

Excellent video!! It breaks my heart because so many people in Christianity are so vulnerable. They do not know the scriptures. They doubt God. They doubt the scriptures. When the lies come they get tossed too and fro. Faith comes by hearing, and hearing comes by the Word of God. We need pastors and teachers that will boldly teach the whole counsel of God. But the pastors first must be fully trusting in Jesus and in the Word. Sadly we are so far down the road now. The world's wisdom has been creeping into the Church for decades. Very few can tolerate sound doctrine because they do not have faith because they do not know the scriptures. As Jesus said.. "Sanctify them by thy Word, Thy Word is truth". We must be born again!
When Jesus was talking to Nicodemus =>.HE wasn’t talking to the BOC ! That’s not our gospel. That’s not our age. That’s not our dispensation. You, like most in this age, share scripture from other ages and it causes chaos and confusion. Until the BOC adheres to 2 Tim 2:15 kjv => we will never be unified…..smh at your deceit…..and lack of understanding…..

The “authority of the self” is something I find deeply disturbing. I can’t even see a way forward, how I would even be able able to navigate this world, if I thought all authority in my life basically boiled down to me and my feelings…I thank God HE is my authority, as is His Word. (We absolutely do need a “thicker skin” now though, as Alisa said. Unfortunately objective truth certainly isn’t something people like, want to hear, or ‘believe in’ anymore.)
I’m a Sunday school teacher and we use orange curriculum. U can’t just leave me hanging!!! I won’t miss that podcast. From what I’ve seen I didn’t think there was anything wrong it seemed to line up with the Bible I would be sad to learn if it turns out it is progressive but our leaders r easy to talk to when it comes to changing this kind of stuff
I was a Sunday School teacher at an old church for a few years. Right before the pastor retired they introduced The Orange curriculum. I didn't like from the start. After the pastor left, the church totally changed....it was very strange. Myself and several others left that church for a different one.
Thank you for speaking about this. I have noticed this a lot recently in our culture & how unfortunately this is hitting the church & even some people I know in the body of Christ. I like the reminder Natasha said that we can’t control someone’s response when we share the truth if the gospel. That is something I will keep in mind if anyone who is not a believer has questions to me about God, and the Bible & what to what it says about what ever topic it may be again. I remember talking with a young lady about my age & shared her the truth of what scripture said about something she was curious about & said she felt hurt & warned her that she did asked about it & it might not be what she wanted to hear but that I rather tell her the truth then lie. It was hard for me to not let her response to it think I was not sharing the truth in love & with right intention of sharing what God says about a certain topic. The Bible & Jesus is more than just be a good person which I notice some people think that is, I know I got to look into my Bible more & study it to learn more about God’s word & understanding in case another conversation like what happened comes again. God bless both of you ladies & your ministries for standing up for the truth of the Gospel in a world like today.
I love you guys! You two were among the influences that have me obsessed with Apologetics! I’m putting on my grandma wisdom with my precious granddaughters and reading Mama Bear Apologetics! That book is already so marked up with good points and advice underlined!!
44:00 excellent point made here. “Liberty”, in the secular humanist/enlightenment sense is a very clever myth. Liberty from a Christian perspective is “the freedom to choose the Good”. It’s never a question of servitude. It’s merely ever a question of “whom do you serve?”
Does the book explain that Yahweh never existed any more than Baal, Asherah, Chemosh, Marduk, Dagon, Moloch or any of the other gods mentioned in the Bible?
Great show Alisha to educate and alert the body of Christ on Progressive Christianity and the secular perspectives in our Changing Culture. We need to place our confidence in God who is our spiritual authority in the infallible and authoritative word given to us to live by .
WOW!! Around the 43:00 mark, Galatians 5:1 strongly came to mind when you state that the freedom TO sin eventually gives way to bondage to sin. I absolutely know that's truth when I think of my life 10 years ago (see Gal 5:19-21). I thought I was free, but was in a lot of pain and never understood why. My past finally makes sense, but so does the freedom I now have and experience (Gal. 5:22-24).
Great book so far, only on chapter 3. But already she is unpacking a lot of valuable information. Alisas book was amazing. And I cant wait for the next one.

In my area, the issue is apostasy as opposed to secularism. Apostates can also claim or self identify as Christians, and often do of course. It is the definition of "Christian" that is the issue. Apostates re-define one or many things, they add to or remove parts of Biblical doctrine to fit an agenda driven narrative. In closing, I must say that I would much rather interact with a secularist than a hypocritical apostate Christian. There appears to be more hope for the secularist to embrace the Gospel than the apostate.

They are very insightful and valuable for me, as I've lost my two grown children because of what you've talked about and it's been so difficult for me as their senior dad. This concept of making sure we say something in a loving way is more like this: A person is not paying attention and walking into busy traffic. A bus is about to hit this person. The natural reaction is to grab and pull the person out of the street or even push the person to the curb while risking getting hit by the bus. Meanwhile the people on the sidelines are criticising such actions because the person might take it the wrong way if you push them out of traffic or risk a brused elbow or scrapped knee from getting that person out of danger. By the time these people have figured out the perfect way to get that person out of peril without hurting his feelings or getting a hangnail, the bus could have hit the person five times over. And the ones who keep pushing this psudo-rule of saying something in a loving manner has been overwhelming from women.
Actually learning about secularism for what it actually is. I didn’t know it was so specific. And deconstruction too. Now I have a more clear target and goal when it comes to evangelism.
Before I thought it just was a general umbrella term referring to worldly thinking or ideas. Now it’s turning into more of a religion has a lot more specific attributes like were mentioned in this video. Like having happiness be more important than truth. I have to watch the video again. Tbh. There was a lot of content.
I’ve been trying to share the gospel and kept running into secular ideas without being able to really put my finger on what was going wrong and I was unsure how to face them or what mindset to get into before talking to them about the gospel.
@@mamajo5867 I see, it's extremely difficult to see all this develop. When I was younger and rebellious I for some reason use to say that I was my own God, that I could develop and create my own world. But deep inside I knew I was arrogant and was deceiving myself. But now deception is the normal.
She lays a lot of this out in her book. I'm still in the process of reading it. But uts really good so far. And she is a very clear and concise reader. I recommend the book to anyone who is interested
"Felt Relevance," that's an interesting term. For several decades now we have been hearing this in the Seeker Friendly/Purpose Driven philosophy, but they call it "felt needs." That philosophy has been an onslaught on the church for several decades now with a trail of data that does not show such a rosy picture. This along with the Emergents some 15 to 20 years ago, the current Progressives, Social Justice and NAR influence have paved the road to now. This discussion is so needed. Thank you, Ladies. Why wouldn't Progressive Christians keep changing with the times, they aren't exactly followers of Christ obviously! Remember The Religious System vs Jesus Christ has been since long ago....For wide is the gate and broad is the way that leadeth to destruction Matt 7: 13,14; God's remnant vs the masses?
We have been in a minority for a while. There was a study / survey that was done in 2006ish that only less then 10% (I think it was more like 6%) of the nation was born again believers that goes to church regularly in a Biblically sound church, that is involved with extra church activities such as small group / Bible study / Sunday school.
Soo important, soo well expressed!! The believer must understand that we live in a gigantic fishbowl, called the world, that God has subjected to inherent vanity (Rom. 8:20). The only way out of this vanity is a rebirth salvation through Jesus Christ. That salvation does not remove us from the fishbowl (only death does that), but it causes us to be in it, but never OF it. What is imperative is the constant meditation upon God’s Word (properly understood!), which causes deep roots to grow beside God’s eternal river of Life (Psalm 1:1-3). As we are deeply rooted, we will bear the fruits of His life within us and our green leaf shall never fade. The strong winds of the world will never topple the tree because we are now firmly established in His eternal love and eternal truth, all found in our precious Savior!
The word of God is the only way to keep our minds focused on him. I have even went to church and felt as though "ideas" were being introduced to me (using scripture, and not using scripture.) The only way I hold close to the father is by reading his word every day. I could always do better, but this is what I've found that helps me personally.

Real Christianity has always been the minority... "For many are called, but few are chosen." (Matthew 22:14) "Therefore let him who thinks he stands take heed that he does not fall." (1 Corinthians 10:12)
This book is a MUST READ for all Christians… Truth is most often offensive… the Gospel is uniformly offensive to begin with ‘cuz it condemns the sinner BEFORE it presents God’s solution…
We all need to remember this because it's so important. I used to worry about being nice too. But then God pointed it out to me. Which is nicer telling them the truth of God's word and of Jesus? Or letting them go on believing Satan's lies and letting them go to hell? Which is really truly kinder? Speaking truth can save lives! It may offend most but you might reach one or two people in a crowd of people you spoke up to about God's truth! This is important to remember. So stop being worried about making enemies. I would rather be judged by the world than by God! The fact is that too many people are willing to sell out to keep friends and family. God has helped me realize that I must take a stand on the truth of God's word and of God and of Jesus! We must tell them the truth whether they want to hear it. Stop 'respecting' their pov. Question it bring up the truth of God's word. If they walk away offended then that's that! There's nothing else to be said about it. Just keep praying for them!
Absolutely! Offenses come and go on this journey. Maybe at first, but after awhile you no longer wear your feelings on your sleeves...not to be insensitive and no disrespect. Kind love or tough love....we keep it all about God who is Love! We see Jesus (& his disciples) who endured every kind of contumely & calumny possible, yet He loved them & us enough to finish the work for God's plan. Yes, compassion is important but so is standing for Christ (the way, truth, & life) without apology! Jesus stood for God the Father without apology, if you will. This channel allows for free speech, how we hear something may or may not be offensive. If I have said something to offend you, please forgive me?
I am SO glad to see someone else is calling out Orange curriculum for what it is!! For years we have watched every single church near us start using it- and we are trying to desperately avoid it but it’s almost impossible sometimes! Just watch the “worship” videos and you can easily see it’s not right!
I have now realized I have taken on some of these views and philosophies in my own life, and I didn't even realize it. Though in saying that, I know why it's been able to lay there unnoticed is because I have lacked consistency and at times a desire to read my bible over the past decade. So, it is really my own neglectful actions that I have been so vulnerable. I have even gotten mad at other Christians when they've voices views about homosexaulity being a sin... I am not sure how the view of it being a sin changed or why it happened over time of me picking and choosing what to read and believe while also claiming the bible was truth... I have some eating of dirt to do , that's for sure!
I remember so much confusion raging through 2020 especially with the riots. I had seen SO MANY scripture passages taken out of context and even I began to question the real meaning behind some scripture-especially ones mentioning “the oppressed.” Thankfully I came across Alisa’s podcast at the time and found other believers who were not justifying and not giving into the radical thoughts and movements; it was a relief to know I wasn’t the crazy one! That motivated me and led me to study the word more in depth. And Alisa always nails it with these podcasts!!
On freedom discussion especially around 41:00, I think part of the problem is the perversion of the definition (So common in modern times). Freedom was historically linked with responsibility, not freedom from responsibility. Not the right to do anything. As example... What if someone told us they freed themselves from the responsibility of their children? Yes, getting a break from children can be a relief, but end of day that feeling should subside as you care about them and risk losing your "freedom" to be a part of their lives and raise them as you see fit.
It's essential that Christians are not only grounded in God's Word but also have fundamental training in philosophy (literally: to love wisdom). Philosophical study not only helps us make sense of--and refute--the propositional claims of the culture but is, at the heart, pre-evangelism.
It is true the dominant culture is not really Christian, even though many people make call themselves Christian. Notice what's happening. The number one song on the charts last year was a Cardi B song about her moist genitalia. The bestselling book of 2012 was a sexual bondage novel Fifty Shades of Grey. This culture is not that of a devoted Christian.
Its definitely in your face obvious nowadays. But if you take a hard look at decades past you see this has been in the making. Even old sitcoms I watch them now and can see current world view being laid out for the viewer under the guise of entertainment
I don't believe in accidents, though I watch & listen to Alisha (among other apologists) a lot, I believe God led me to this one this morning for a reason. God has given me a word for the Church, the whys belong to Him, everything that He's given me is in agreement with His perfect word, which needs no addition or subtraction. There is deception in the world that comes from the counterfeit & it looks like Collectivism, what God gave me is the affirmation that in Christianity, in God's word, there IS a self and there is the ultimate "collective" called the Church. THE DIFFERENCE between the self that the Bible affirms & the self that's in the world is that one is autonomous (ruled & governed by self) & the other has been purchased by the blood of Jesus Christ; the autonomous "self" (I prefer part) is what we (the-parts of the body) PUT TO DEATH when we receive our Lord Jesus & place Him on the throne in our hearts, but make no mistake, there is still a self that comes into this world alone & leaves this world alone, the difference is one is ruled & governed by self & the other is wholly purchased & submitted to God. Thus far whenever I've tried to share what God gave me (perhaps it's bc I have a long way to go in learning how to share it) I get a look from people where I think they hear that I'm disaffirming the Church, NOTHING COULD BE FURTHER FROM THE TRUTH! There are too many ironies in that to go into, so I'll share just one, I was a self that struggled to have fellowship with others, bc I didn't understand boundaries, IE: where I begin & another ends, I'd come to church every week & hear my then pastor (irony again perhaps that he's now a progressive) who would point to the Trinity & talk about perfect community & how we're called to community & I hated hearing it, bc every time I tried being with peopled, getting involved, being in fellowship, it never went well, it always ended in tears (bc I thought like a self-centered victim), BUT...I came back every single week. Why? BECAUSE I RECOGNIZED IT'S THE TRUTH! We ARE made for community! Then some horribly devastating things happened in my life, that caused me to come to the END of the autonomy I was unknowingly hanging onto (referring to generational curses & ways of relating to others, the learned junk); I was already a Christian, but God had to do a hard, but loving work to get me to awaken to my victimhood & take responsibility & how I got there was COMPLETE SURRENDER! I know it sounds like one is contrary to the other, but their not & a discerning spirit can see the difference. The word that God gave me is that the Bible, affirms both the individual (NOT individualism, NOT the autonomous self) AND the collective known as the Church. It's important to know, bc there's a counterfeit who seeks to usurp God & replace the individual (in the world) with a collective that doesn't perceive the need for God. Why do believers need to know that? Like I said, the whys belong to God. Perhaps it's bc understanding everything in His word is important; perhaps it's because He wants us to know what tricks the enemy is up to, so we can speak Truth into it to those who are perishing. Perhaps it's to better understand how thinking like a victim is the ultimate slavery, bc it's the autonomous-self KEEPING that self in chains! To be honest, I think knowing this teaching is part of what gives former addicts who are in 12-STEP programs, who haven't come to Jesus yet, a measure of inoculation from the counterfeit & makes them better able to hear the gospel, bc they're connected to their need for forgiveness! Bottom line, God is perfect, His ways are a mystery, why should we be taken aback that a God Who is one, two, three in ONE, who causes a man & a woman, to become ONE-flesh, affirms the many PARTS, who make up His bride? Bottom line, individualism that says "the only one who matters is me" and collectivism that says "there is no me", COMES FROM THE SAME LIAR! We ARE made for community, it's about God working through the Church, but that work has to begin & continue in EACH, if EACH is to do His work in the Body & by extension, the world.

As someone who is going to college this next year to study the Lord I have been on a role to search for study materials and something to compare what can and could be taught at the college granted it's by the Lord alone that I am going to the college, but there will probably be things I disagree with and because of that I need to know what is the truth that is the Lord Our God.

I do totally agree with your consensus about persecution. I see those who hold to a Biblical worldview "definitely" being persecuted in America. We are being marginalized and often cut off by our own families, church pastors and church members as well as co-workers for our witness and the core values we stand by. It's not just an intellectual disagreement, but a wholesale contempt that I'm seeing. Physical persecution is only 1 part that must be weighed as we discuss this topic.
Nice talk. One issue that I found is that even if I read the whole Bible everyday, the Bible will not interpret itself. At the end of the day, I may end up with a very distorted version of Christianity, because I don’t follow any Tradition and Magisterium that can guide me. That’s why i came back to the Catholic Church. To feed myself again from the repository of faith. However, (in a lesser degree in my experience) there are a lot of “progressive Catholics” in the church too. It is a spiritual battle being fought right now in the Church.
You need the holy spirit to teach you. Ask him and he will. The Bible is not a dead book. God will communicate with you personally and give you revelation and understanding of His word. It's exciting walking daily with him!

But it's The Holy Spirit who gives us the discernment needed and humility to see The Truth of God's Word, the 66 books of the Bible. Man's iterations of It are just that, man's and not God's. They are not gospel.
I think the move to go back to church was led by the Holy Spirit. I can bear witness to what you’re saying Boris. Let me explain: the Bible does interpret itself. The Bible is sufficient and profitable for everything pertaining to life. Yet, reading the Bible cover to cover, and even being very knowledgeable about it, is no guarantee of knowing God, or walking with Him. As an example we have the priests in the time of Jesus and Saul (later Paul) who described himself as, and was known to be, very knowledgeable with scriptures. Yet, they could not recognize God in front of them and killed Him…these were to cream of the Bible scholars of the time! We do need both the body of Christ AND the Holy Spirit. We can’t possibly fully know God and be fully obedient to God outside of the context of His body. How do we learn to love our brothers as ourselves without even knowing our brothers? How do we learn to forgive them if we are not in the context where we receive the opportunities to be offended and learn to forgive them? The thing is, God does have a way of establishing and ordering His church so that He speaks to us through messengers at any point we gather together. And that’s what we need to seek. And the Holy Spirit will prompt us to hear where God is calling us to establish us and plant us. Jesus sent Ananias to remove the blindness from Saul’s eyes. It was not Paul on His own, He needed someone connected to this godly ordered church that Jesus had left on earth. So, dear Boris, can I encourage you to know where the Lord is calling you to plant you and establish you. Persevere in scriptures, give yourself to prayer and request to Him to send you a messenger that will speak His word to your spirit. You will know. When He does, hang in there because it won’t always be pretty. The messenger will speak God’s love to you, which means that God’s word through the flesh of that person and that community of believers will expose your heart, not one, but many times until the day you breath your last, which will make you take personal offense. But hang in there, because a true messenger has God’s love in his heart for you, enough to speak the truth and expose his cheek for you to slap it, and then turn the other one. By their fruit you will know them. Much love.

It's strange to me that nearly everyone who discusses this kind of issue leaves out the truth about the unmitigated shallow teaching and biblically non literacy of believers found in the average congregation. What if the basic, (then deeper) knowledge and understanding of God's breathed words was actually taught in the average congregation. Parents would then be able teach their own children, including being able to wisely discuss God's teachings, which includes God's plan from Genesis to Revelation, life and holiness, etc., with them. It is also, not biblical to have a "youth minister". If parents became mature believers they would be able to actually train up their children as they should, including how to defend the faith. This will be difficult though because this would require Elders who actually qualify as Elders, many are not knowledgeable or even qualified teachers in the average congregation as some have admitted to me that they are not teachers themselves. My usual response to them is "you need to immediately resign" because according to scripture you are not qualified to be an Elder. They just grin though. The teaching in the average congregation is all over the place with doctrine, even concerning salvation. Seminaries are not the same in doctrine and are essentially rubber stamping Elders by awarding them with credentials making them defacto, qualified teachers. Because of the lack of sound teaching and therefore, depth, and maturity in the average congregation, believers are forced unbiblically to look outside of their congregation contrary to Paul's instructions concerning Elders in 1 Timothy 3. By choosing outside their congregation they instantiate that no man in their congregation is qualified to be an Elder, including a qualified teacher. The ones choosing an Elder to hire cannot possibly, biblically choose an Elder because they do not know said Elder, including every aspect that qualifies a man that desires to be an Elder per 1 Timothy 3. Denominational distinction for example is a division of the Body by definition and has clearly happened because men who are over the congregations are of many conflicting doctrines from top to bottom in many cases. This just scratches the surface for the incredibly shallow knowledge, understanding and immaturity throughout the environs of Christianity. The faith of those going to college, for example, have little or no faith that can withstand the incoherent, incompetent and lying rants of professors, and their weak faith, the faith of very many, is essentially shaken to the core or shattered. Every time an atheist says there is no God, because of evil and suffering, many believers become mute, they have little or no ability to defend their faith or "the Faith". This is how the Body of Christ arrives at 2 Timothy 4:3, etc. Believers are then relegated to a body of believers that for the most part essentially feel their way around. Unless teaching is greatly improved throughout every Christian congregation it will only worsen and continue to be empty emoting. Augustinian Calvinism is as unbiblical as any false teaching and worse then most because they teach one is actually regenerated/ born again without even believing in Jesus the Xpistos (Christ). Also, One is only doing what is strictly determined by God when doing good or evil according to their definition of sovereign. Calvinism's 9 points- not just 5 called TULIP are clearly false. Calvinists will also talk, teach, and preach as though there is free will choice by their vocabulary, which betrays their doctrine of a Miticulous Determinism. This is probably the most deceitful doctrine because of the terms which are used by sound teachers.

I love the tacit and implied admission that religious belief is irrational when you try to apply the term to things on things that are obviously not religious (like secularism or evolution) in order to attack their credibility.
There are so many high attainers in Christianity. They just stay quiet once they fully forgive. Teaching by being it. Many of us walk with Jesus now. Also if you judge yourself you will be uncertain and so others will feel it and question you. Comes a time no one questions you. But they see you. They feel your genuine peaceful ways. Your natural joy and inner non conflictual heart. This takes place after you have forgiven yourself for judging. See to have to forgive one has to condemn first. Once you no longer condemn there is nothing to forgive. If you don’t condemn pple will stop condemning you. It’s that simple but don’t sell it. Don’t make business from Christianity. But hey. What happen to Jesus when he proclaimed to be Son of God? That was that example.

That produced martyrs, saints, and wonder workers. That convened the ecumenical counsels. That formalized the cannon of scripture. That church has existed continuously from then to now. The “Eastern” Orthodox church. But it gets written off as “not simple,” “not culturally relevant,” “too catholic.” The problem with shirking any authority of the church of the apostles
started with the schism of the Roman patriarchate in 1054, continued with the Reformation, and it shouldn’t be a mystery why everyone now thinks they can interpret the Bible any way they like, or dismiss it altogether, because that’s the way the ball has been rolling for over 1000 years
Great video! I never can understand the "theology light Jesus" of Progressives. They skip over the verses where even as a child in the temple Jesus spoke with the religious leaders of the days and how amazed they were at his questions. Then later after he began his public ministry, both the people and teachers of the law are amazed at his teaching which " has authority." Anyone who has read the Bible knows that Jesus was VERY theological. What he rejected was human tradition that ran against God's teaching in the OT and the hypocrisy of the leaders who made rules of men that contradicted God's word and only added burdens to people's lives.
Just a one-off note I've been listening to media from the Bible project which seems to be giving ground to the modern mind and the modern philosophy which may be exactly what you're referring to hear as far as Christianity no longer being what it used to be
I used to listed to Tim Mackie and subsequently the Bible project. It was all so fascinating to hear. ..until he started to get to the new testament. And suddenly it had a very universalism undertone. I 100% believe he is a progressive universalist

Wow… I’m a Christian teen and there is a walkout tomorrow over the l*btq stuff (I’m only censoring bc of yt) I live in the liberal state of Maryland, luckily not as bad as California lol, but I feel pressured and like I would be targeted for not going to a walkout at my school. It really sucks. I believe people should have basic human rights, but if I walk out it’s like I’m promoting EVERYTHING they believe in. When I really don’t believe every aspect of what they believe because it conflicts with Christianity. I empathize and sympathize with them but I don’t totally agree with them. The agenda is becoming too much and I feel like I will be a target. Even by my old acquaintances I just reconnected with who is more liberal might see me as evil and hateful for not participating in it. I honestly don’t know what to say because if I said I can’t they might cut me off. And I won’t even get to tell my testimony.
@@tiredoftheworld4834 I've had similar circumstances. I actually lost my best friend in high school because I chose to stand on the side of truth. Jesus said that the world would hate us if we followed Him, I believe this is why He emphasized the importance of us(Christians) loving each other and staying in unity. I would encourage you to seek out a community of believers, preferably one with other youths, and get active in serving, if you haven't already. You will have to make a choice to trust God and stand in truth or go along with the falsehood of culture. We have to remember that we are who God says we are, not who people perceive us to be. You can show love to them without supporting their "cause". Treat them the way you would want to be treated without affirming their wayward beliefs. If they ask you why you aren't participating, tell them the truth. "I feel for this community and they deserve to be treated with dignity and love but I don't agree with the overall stance or agenda". They will likely make many false accusations against you and call you names and shun you, try to make you feel like you're on the wrong side, try to twist you up with some weird logic, I've been there, it can be hard to take. In your response don't look to defend yourself or to appease the crowd, but seek rather to communicate the truth as best as you can. I promise you that anything you "lose" because of your stand wasn't any good to you. Associates, friends, popularity, none of it is worth denying the truth. I'll be praying for you, that God will strengthen your resolve but also surround you with support and that you'll hold to the faith and trust God to be your sword and shield, and that you'll stand in love and compassion but also in righteousness.
Side Note: Read your bible young one. If you don't already. Search the scriptures for what God says about these issues. The bible isn't anti-gay, meaning it doesn't teach us to hate homosexuals. But the bible is clear on God's disdain for the SEXUAL ACT of homosexuality. Having attractions to the same sex isn't what the bible condemns, it's the act that is an abomination. That's not often understood by believers or unbelievers in my experience.
At around 40minutes, the whole “feeling of freedom” out of deconstruction thing made think of “the love of many will grow cold”!!!

This is absolutely excellent, and so well timed!! This is literally exactly what I’ve come across for so many years now. And it’s been really strange, as someone who came to Christ as an adult…I honestly began to wonder if this was just Christianity. People are so hyper focused on never ever hurting any feelings, or offending anyone. Rather then just speaking Gods truth, evangelizing, apologetics, teaching, rebuking, and exhorting, according to the Word. People don’t seem to want to do any of those things, and they care SO MUCH about not offending instead!
I have a direct personality, I’m an outgoing extrovert, and I love talking about God’s truths! But coming into the local church…. I struggle to find my place to fit in. I hear a lot of “oh don’t say that, be nice”. And I do think I’m being nice! I am walking kindly, and with grace, but I’m also saying the truth. And I’m always sort of dumbfounded when someone says a phrase like that to me. What should I even say back???!! And does your advise change knowing that it’s pretty much always women who say it, and what about when it’s an Elder’s wife?? How can I say something to help them grow in this area? But… not absolutely ruin the relationship.
I'm the same way as you in that I have a direct personality and love talking about God's truths! Which is by the way THE truth. A response that I often use is that The Bible does not call us to be nice, it calls us to be kind. Which is different.
When you are being nice to someone, you are telling them what they want to hear. So you are only helping yourself. It is a selfish and wicked act.
When you are being kind to someone, you tell them what they need to hear. Which may be soft, or may be harsh. You are helping them instead of yourself. It is a selfless and Christlike act.
I pray that God gives you the right words to say in these situations without any form of compromise on what The Bible teaches. It is also important to remember that right speech needs to be backed up by right action. Both are important for expressing love towards God, helping others come closer to Christ, and in our Christian walk in general. God bless you!
I agree! Speaking the truth is kind. Speaking the truth is love. Of course we need to be yielded to the Holy Spirit and follow His lead, but we can't stand by and watch people driving off the cliff. I've often thought that all these "kind" "sensitive" people must really have a difficult time reading the powerful words of Jesus or Paul. But that's just it... I don't think they read the Bible. I often wonder how many "Christians" are actually born again. If we have been regenerated then our dependence on ourselves is what will be deconstructed! I think of Paul's pain when he had to constantly correct and reprove believers..."I will gladly spend and be spent for your souls; though the more abundantly I love you, the less I am loved."

Praise God for your personality! He made me bold as well! Remember that we are to always speak the truth in love. When you are doing this, refer to Ephesians 4:15 if I'm not mistaken, please check LOL. Remind them that love rejoices in the truth I think that's in 1st Corinthians.... if the truth hurts, that means that they are feeling conviction and that is the work of the Holy Spirit not to be grieved. This is assuming that you are speaking it in love and being patient and kind with your words. Sometimes there's no easy and nice way to say things, but it needs to be said if you love the person. You seem to have a good biblical head-on, so I think you're doing the right thing. Just keep praying for God's wisdom and to have HIM season your words with salt... and I will do the same God bless you Sister

The problem is that many, if not most, in the church are not born again (regenerated by the Holy Spirit). They have not surrendered their lives to Jesus Christ or even acknowledged that they are indeed a sinner both through birth (born with an adamic nature) and through their own actions (personal sins) who are in need of a Savior and repented of their sins with a godly sorrow. I fault the pulpits who are not preaching the Cross that all have sinned and fallen short of the glory of God and need to repent and receive Jesus into our hearts by faith trusting solely in what He accomplished for us on the Cross and His Resurrection for their salvation. Water baptism and church membership and good works do not save us but only the Blood that was shed on the Cross. I want to add that this was a great and much needed discussion.

@@wendymtzc Repent of sins is made possible by the Atonement of Jesus Christ. John & Peter preached repentance (renouncing of sins) to hearers. Change of old way of thinking, turning away from sin, and seeking God & His righteousness. Jesus called sinners to repentance. Repentance is a by product.

I have never known committed, believing Christians to be anything but a minority. When I first became a born again, Christian believer, I had not wanted to be a "church going Christian", based on the people I knew. Hypocrisy is real; it's ugly, and God does hate it. But I thought, after I put my trust in Jesus to save me, and He had changed my life so much, that at least, if I had to bear the disrepute of being associated with them, it was all for Jesus's sake, and at least we could talk about Jesus together.
Er, no. Those church-going Christians really didn't enjoy talking or thinking about Jesus at all. I remember trying to talk to a lady in my community, who went to church every time the door was open, taught Sunday school and everything, because, at least she knew what it was to love Jesus, right? I was about 12 at the time. And she exploded in rage at me, telling me that she "did her time" with Jesus, in all that time in church, and if I didn't shut up about Him, she didn't know what she was going to have to do to me to make me stop! I did not have any more experiences just like that, but I did begin to notice how often the church going people did not care what the Bible said. If it was one of the issues they gave lip service to, well, they were skillful at that. But if it was something they liked that the Bible condemned, or if it was something the Bible called good that they wanted to call evil, they made it clear that they didn't care what Jesus or anyone said in the Bible. And yeah, their political affiliations, and moral druthers, played a big part in that. So the picture I was left with was of big church goers, who probably would have applauded, grinning, when Clint Eastwood said in the movie, "I don't give a rat's ass about Jesus".
Actually believing, knowing and loving Jesus, didn't seem to have any relationship with churchgoers at all. That wasn't quite true, but the ones who did, definitely were not making themselves "visible" to me. But there was preaching on the radio, or maybe you read a letter in the paper, or you had some access to Christian books, and here and there, there was an acknowledgement that believing in Jesus with saving faith was relatively rare. There were a whole contingent of believing Christians who distinguished between _born again_ and _cultural_ Christians. That's before politics co-opted the expression, "born again", as it now has "evangelical" (= gospel believing, not a political stance). Christian teachers barely talk about being born again anymore. Now, when Christianity is confused with a political philosophy, we are supposed to consider any who call themselves "Christian", part of the same movement, therefore "allies" in "the cause", a cause that can be spun into something quite antithetical to the gospel and trusting faith in the person of Jesus Christ. So no, we are not really all on the same side, although who doesn't wish we were? Christian is a biblical word, but it has sadly been stolen, to mean quite a few evil things in history, none of which reflect our God's truth, love or grace. They don't reflect Jesus's nature at all. They are against His heart, and slander Him to mean things that God clearly hates, if we believe the Bible. And notice how cultural Christian "belief" is attributed to social, psychological and political reasons. This is "hav(ing) a form of godliness and denying the power thereof." Paul told Timothy, "from such, turn away".
The Bible teaches that believing Christians are not the majority. Nothing has happened that changes that.

Sadly, I have to agree with all of it.
Perfectly explained and thought out. Your experiences are so relatable to me. The church that I attend now, which was a solely a provision from God, truly love one another and most of all, fear God. I love talking about the Word and talking about the Lord, but I feel like everywhere I go other so-called Christian’s are just like “yeah, yeah, Jesus is cool we get it. Did you watch the football game?” It’s depressing when you just want to talk about God’s magnificent, and glorious attributes and His faithfulness and everyone just makes you feel like a joke. Absolutely discouraging.
That was so inspiring and elequently put. I agree whole heartedly! In what era was Jesus remotely popular? NONE and nothing will change, we must stick to the fundamentals and spread the word through tracs in the street or in any other way the Lord deems appropriate.

When you are truly born again you see where most churches today are lacking (they might never go deep and it’s motivational stuff you can get from the world), but being a Christian, it’s a walk, but it’s worth it. And it’s a walk many aren’t willing to work out. Once I discovered the truth, and the pervasive darkness in our world to the extremes I just had to realize that what the world calls “love” most times really isn’t. Or it appears all nice but has toxic consequences. And real Christians are truly a minority. People who have been born again see Jesus as a chore/just like that lady implied:jail time. Which I find appalling.
One Christian RUclips who exposes false Teachers made a video on statistics which showed that that most current percentage of people who call themselves Christians today don’t even read or believe in the Bible themselves. Some people live double lives doing religious duties and look good at church but the heart doesn’t change. I think some people running individual churches have failed to lead with the Bible, talk about the times we are in and get deep into Bible prophecy, because that is what woke me up and helped get me saved. When I got saved I felt like I was free from my sins I was a slave to. All those sins crushed me and made me more isolated, stressed and depressed and addicted. That all kept me from ignoring or forgetting Jesus, even when as a little girl I was so interested in the Bible, but the secular world and all its lusts blinded me as I got older, and the progressive church I was at did nothing much to combat it (I am so blessed to have read Genesis and revelation and my children’s Bible as a child. I also asked really deep questions in Sunday school.) I really appreciate some things about them but they are lacking and don’t want to uphold some ways how Jesus wanted things to be done. They could help many more people get saved and not be stuck in lukewarmness and double lives if the gospel was deeply preached and we know the times we are living in and how to stand together as the body of Christ. But how can I stand together with them if they don’t want to talk about the Bible more?

Excellent video!! It breaks my heart because so many people in Christianity are so vulnerable. They do not know the scriptures. They doubt God. They doubt the scriptures. When the lies come they get tossed too and fro. Faith comes by hearing, and hearing comes by the Word of God. We need pastors and teachers that will boldly teach the whole counsel of God. But the pastors first must be fully trusting in Jesus and in the Word. Sadly we are so far down the road now. The world's wisdom has been creeping into the Church for decades. Very few can tolerate sound doctrine because they do not have faith because they do not know the scriptures. As Jesus said.. "Sanctify them by thy Word, Thy Word is truth". We must be born again!

The “authority of the self” is something I find deeply disturbing. I can’t even see a way forward, how I would even be able able to navigate this world, if I thought all authority in my life basically boiled down to me and my feelings…I thank God HE is my authority, as is His Word. (We absolutely do need a “thicker skin” now though, as Alisa said. Unfortunately objective truth certainly isn’t something people like, want to hear, or ‘believe in’ anymore.)

I’m a Sunday school teacher and we use orange curriculum. U can’t just leave me hanging!!! I won’t miss that podcast. From what I’ve seen I didn’t think there was anything wrong it seemed to line up with the Bible I would be sad to learn if it turns out it is progressive but our leaders r easy to talk to when it comes to changing this kind of stuff
I was a Sunday School teacher at an old church for a few years. Right before the pastor retired they introduced The Orange curriculum. I didn't like from the start. After the pastor left, the church totally changed....it was very strange. Myself and several others left that church for a different one.

Thank you for speaking about this. I have noticed this a lot recently in our culture & how unfortunately this is hitting the church & even some people I know in the body of Christ. I like the reminder Natasha said that we can’t control someone’s response when we share the truth if the gospel. That is something I will keep in mind if anyone who is not a believer has questions to me about God, and the Bible & what to what it says about what ever topic it may be again. I remember talking with a young lady about my age & shared her the truth of what scripture said about something she was curious about & said she felt hurt & warned her that she did asked about it & it might not be what she wanted to hear but that I rather tell her the truth then lie. It was hard for me to not let her response to it think I was not sharing the truth in love & with right intention of sharing what God says about a certain topic. The Bible & Jesus is more than just be a good person which I notice some people think that is, I know I got to look into my Bible more & study it to learn more about God’s word & understanding in case another conversation like what happened comes again. God bless both of you ladies & your ministries for standing up for the truth of the Gospel in a world like today.

WOW!! Around the 43:00 mark, Galatians 5:1 strongly came to mind when you state that the freedom TO sin eventually gives way to bondage to sin. I absolutely know that's truth when I think of my life 10 years ago (see Gal 5:19-21). I thought I was free, but was in a lot of pain and never understood why. My past finally makes sense, but so does the freedom I now have and experience (Gal. 5:22-24).

In my area, the issue is apostasy as opposed to secularism. Apostates can also claim or self identify as Christians, and often do of course. It is the definition of "Christian" that is the issue. Apostates re-define one or many things, they add to or remove parts of Biblical doctrine to fit an agenda driven narrative. In closing, I must say that I would much rather interact with a secularist than a hypocritical apostate Christian. There appears to be more hope for the secularist to embrace the Gospel than the apostate.
Because Christian is just a label. Romans 1:7 says what to be called and its not "christian"

This concept of making sure we say something in a loving way is more like this:
A person is not paying attention and walking into busy traffic. A bus is about to hit this person. The natural reaction is to grab and pull the person out of the street or even push the person to the curb while risking getting hit by the bus.
Meanwhile the people on the sidelines are criticising such actions because the person might take it the wrong way if you push them out of traffic or risk a brused elbow or scrapped knee from getting that person out of danger. By the time these people have figured out the perfect way to get that person out of peril without hurting his feelings or getting a hangnail, the bus could have hit the person five times over. And the ones who keep pushing this psudo-rule of saying something in a loving manner has been overwhelming from women.

Actually learning about secularism for what it actually is. I didn’t know it was so specific. And deconstruction too. Now I have a more clear target and goal when it comes to evangelism.

Before I thought it just was a general umbrella term referring to worldly thinking or ideas. I’ve been trying to share the gospel and kept running into secular ideas without being able to really put my finger on what was going wrong and I was unsure how to face them or what mindset to get into before talking to them about the gospel.
@@mamajo5867 I see, it's extremely difficult to see all this develop. When I was younger and rebellious I for some reason use to say that I was my own God, that I could develop and create my own world. But deep inside I knew I was arrogant and was deceiving myself. But now deception is the normal.

"Felt Relevance," that's an interesting term. For several decades now we have been hearing this in the Seeker Friendly/Purpose Driven philosophy, but they call it "felt needs." That philosophy has been an onslaught on the church for several decades now with a trail of data that does not show such a rosy picture. We have been in a minority for a while. There was a study / survey that was done in 2006ish that only less then 10% (I think it was more like 6%) of the nation was born again believers that goes to church regularly in a Biblically sound church, that is involved with extra church activities such as small group / Bible study / Sunday school.
Soo important, soo well expressed!! The believer must understand that we live in a gigantic fishbowl, called the world, that God has subjected to inherent vanity (Rom. 8:20). The only way out of this vanity is a rebirth salvation through Jesus Christ. That salvation does not remove us from the fishbowl (only death does that), but it causes us to be in it, but never OF it. What is imperative is the constant meditation upon God’s Word (properly understood!), which causes deep roots to grow beside God’s eternal river of Life (Psalm 1:1-3). As we are deeply rooted, we will bear the fruits of His life within us and our green leaf shall never fade. The strong winds of the world will never topple the tree because we are now firmly established in His eternal love and eternal truth, all found in our precious Savior!

The word of God is the only way to keep our minds focused on him. I have even went to church and felt as though "ideas" were being introduced to me (using scripture, and not using scripture.) The only way I hold close to the father is by reading his word every day. I could always do better, but this is what I've found that helps me personally.

This book is a MUST READ for all Christians… Truth is most often offensive… the Gospel is uniformly offensive to begin with ‘cuz it condemns the sinner BEFORE it presents God’s solution…
We all need to remember this because it's so important. I used to worry about being nice too. But then God pointed it out to me. Which is nicer telling them the truth of God's word and of Jesus? Or letting them go on believing Satan's lies and letting them go to hell? Which is really truly kinder?
Speaking truth can save lives! It may offend most but you might reach one or two people in a crowd of people you spoke up to about God's truth! This is important to remember. So stop being worried about making enemies. I would rather be judged by the world than by God! The fact is that too many people are willing to sell out to keep friends and family.
God has helped me realize that I must take a stand on the truth of God's word and of God and of Jesus! We must tell them the truth whether they want to hear it. Stop 'respecting' their pov. Question it bring up the truth of God's word. If they walk away offended then that's that! There's nothing else to be said about it. Just keep praying for them!
Absolutely! Offenses come and go on this journey. Maybe at first, but after awhile you no longer wear your feelings on your sleeves...not to be insensitive and no disrespect. Kind love or tough love....we keep it all about God who is Love! We see Jesus (& his disciples) who endured every kind of contumely & calumny possible, yet He loved them & us enough to finish the work for God's plan. Yes, compassion is important but so is standing for Christ (the way, truth, & life) without apology! Jesus stood for God the Father without apology, if you will. I am SO glad to see someone else is calling out Orange curriculum for what it is!! For years we have watched every single church near us start using it- and we are trying to desperately avoid it but it’s almost impossible sometimes! Just watch the “worship” videos and you can easily see it’s not right!
I have now realized I have taken on some of these views and philosophies in my own life, and I didn't even realize it. Though in saying that, I know why it's been able to lay there unnoticed is because I have lacked consistency and at times a desire to read my bible over the past decade. So, it is really my own neglectful actions that I have been so vulnerable. I have even gotten mad at other Christians when they've voices views about homosexaulity being a sin... I am not sure how the view of it being a sin changed or why it happened over time of me picking and choosing what to read and believe while also claiming the bible was truth... I have some eating of dirt to do , that's for sure!
I remember so much confusion raging through 2020 especially with the riots. I had seen SO MANY scripture passages taken out of context and even I began to question the real meaning behind some scripture-especially ones mentioning “the oppressed.” Thankfully I came across Alisa’s podcast at the time and found other believers who were not justifying and not giving into the radical thoughts and movements; it was a relief to know I wasn’t the crazy one! That motivated me and led me to study the word more in depth. And Alisa always nails it with these podcasts!!

On freedom discussion especially around 41:00, I think part of the problem is the perversion of the definition (So common in modern times). Freedom was historically linked with responsibility, not freedom from responsibility. Not the right to do anything.
As example... What if someone told us they freed themselves from the responsibility of their children? Yes, getting a break from children can be a relief, but end of day that feeling should subside as you care about them and risk losing your "freedom" to be a part of their lives and raise them as you see fit.
i'm really tired of modern churches pitting love "against" truth...a Christian isn't being true to who they are without having both...
I believe Truth is the ultimate showcase of love. Jesus is Truth.

The salvation Jesus forces us to confront our brokenness, and many people don’t like that.
It is true the dominant culture is not really Christian, even though many people make call themselves Christian. Notice what's happening. The number one song on the charts last year was a Cardi B song about her moist genitalia. The bestselling book of 2012 was a sexual bondage novel Fifty Shades of Grey. This culture is not that of a devoted Christian.
Its definitely in your face obvious nowadays. But if you take a hard look at decades past you see this has been in the making. Even old sitcoms I watch them now and can see current world view being laid out for the viewer under the guise of entertainment

I don't believe in accidents, though I watch & listen to Alisha (among other apologists) a lot, I believe God led me to this one this morning for a reason. God has given me a word for the Church, the whys belong to Him, everything that He's given me is in agreement with His perfect word, which needs no addition or subtraction. There is deception in the world that comes from the counterfeit & it looks like Collectivism, what God gave me is the affirmation that in Christianity, in God's word, there IS a self and there is the ultimate "collective" called the Church. THE DIFFERENCE between the self that the Bible affirms & the self that's in the world is that one is autonomous (ruled & governed by self) & the other has been purchased by the blood of Jesus Christ; the autonomous "self" (I prefer part) is what we (the-parts of the body) PUT TO DEATH when we receive our Lord Jesus & place Him on the throne in our hearts, but make no mistake, there is still a self that comes into this world alone & leaves this world alone, the difference is one is ruled & governed by self & the other is wholly purchased & submitted to God. Thus far whenever I've tried to share what God gave me (perhaps it's bc I have a long way to go in learning how to share it) I get a look from people where I think they hear that I'm disaffirming the Church, NOTHING COULD BE FURTHER FROM THE TRUTH! There are too many ironies in that to go into, so I'll share just one, I was a self that struggled to have fellowship with others, bc I didn't understand boundaries, IE: where I begin & another ends, I'd come to church every week & hear my then pastor (irony again perhaps that he's now a progressive) who would point to the Trinity & talk about perfect community & how we're called to community & I hated hearing it, bc every time I tried being with peopled, getting involved, being in fellowship, it never went well, it always ended in tears (bc I thought like a self-centered victim), BUT...I came back every single week. Why? BECAUSE I RECOGNIZED IT'S THE TRUTH! We ARE made for community! Then some horribly devastating things happened in my life, that caused me to come to the END of the autonomy I was unknowingly hanging onto (referring to generational curses & ways of relating to others, the learned junk); I was already a Christian, but God had to do a hard, but loving work to get me to awaken to my victimhood & take responsibility & how I got there was COMPLETE SURRENDER! I know it sounds like one is contrary to the other, but their not & a discerning spirit can see the difference. The word that God gave me is that the Bible, affirms both the individual (NOT individualism, NOT the autonomous self) AND the collective known as the Church. It's important to know, bc there's a counterfeit who seeks to usurp God & replace the individual (in the world) with a collective that doesn't perceive the need for God. Why do believers need to know that? Like I said, the whys belong to God. Perhaps it's bc understanding everything in His word is important; perhaps it's because He wants us to know what tricks the enemy is up to, so we can speak Truth into it to those who are perishing. Perhaps it's to better understand how thinking like a victim is the ultimate slavery, bc it's the autonomous-self KEEPING that self in chains! To be honest, I think knowing this teaching is part of what gives former addicts who are in 12-STEP programs, who haven't come to Jesus yet, a measure of inoculation from the counterfeit & makes them better able to hear the gospel, bc they're connected to their need for forgiveness! Bottom line, God is perfect, His ways are a mystery, why should we be taken aback that a God Who is one, two, three in ONE, who causes a man & a woman, to become ONE-flesh, affirms the many PARTS, who make up His bride? Bottom line, individualism that says "the only one who matters is me" and collectivism that says "there is no me", COMES FROM THE SAME LIAR! We ARE made for community, it's about God working through the Church, but that work has to begin & continue in EACH, if EACH is to do His work in the Body & by extension, the world.

As someone who is going to college this next year to study the Lord I have been on a role to search for study materials and something to compare what can and could be taught at the college granted it's by the Lord alone that I am going to the college, but there will probably be things I disagree with and because of that I need to know what is the truth that is the Lord Our God.

Reason am having a problem finding a church to worship
I do totally agree with your consensus about persecution. I see those who hold to a Biblical worldview "definitely" being persecuted in America. We are being marginalized and often cut off by our own families, church pastors and church members as well as co-workers for our witness and the core values we stand by. It's not just an intellectual disagreement, but a wholesale contempt that I'm seeing. Physical persecution is only 1 part that must be weighed as we discuss this topic.
Nice talk. One issue that I found is that even if I read the whole Bible everyday, the Bible will not interpret itself. At the end of the day, I may end up with a very distorted version of Christianity, because I don’t follow any Tradition and Magisterium that can guide me. That’s why i came back to the Catholic Church. To feed myself again from the repository of faith. However, (in a lesser degree in my experience) there are a lot of “progressive Catholics” in the church too. It is a spiritual battle being fought right now in the Church.
You need the holy spirit to teach you. Ask him and he will. The Bible is not a dead book. God will communicate with you personally and give you revelation and understanding of His word. It's exciting walking daily with him!
But the Comforter, which is the Holy Ghost, whom the Father will send in my name, he shall teach you all things, and bring all things to your remembrance, whatsoever I have said unto you. John 14:26
But it's The Holy Spirit who gives us the discernment needed and humility to see The Truth of God's Word, the 66 books of the Bible. Man's iterations of It are just that, man's and not God's. They are not gospel.
The Holy Spirit gives us the understanding.
I think the move to go back to church was led by the Holy Spirit. I can bear witness to what you’re saying Boris. Let me explain: the Bible does interpret itself. The Bible is sufficient and profitable for everything pertaining to life. Yet, reading the Bible cover to cover, and even being very knowledgeable about it, is no guarantee of knowing God, or walking with Him. As an example we have the priests in the time of Jesus and Saul (later Paul) who described himself as, and was known to be, very knowledgeable with scriptures. Yet, they could not recognize God in front of them and killed Him…these were to cream of the Bible scholars of the time!
We do need both the body of Christ AND the Holy Spirit. We can’t possibly fully know God and be fully obedient to God outside of the context of His body. How do we learn to love our brothers as ourselves without even knowing our brothers? How do we learn to forgive them if we are not in the context where we receive the opportunities to be offended and learn to forgive them? The thing is, God does have a way of establishing and ordering His church so that He speaks to us through messengers at any point we gather together. And that’s what we need to seek. And the Holy Spirit will prompt us to hear where God is calling us to establish us and plant us. Jesus sent Ananias to remove the blindness from Saul’s eyes. It was not Paul on His own, He needed someone connected to this godly ordered church that Jesus had left on earth.
So, dear Boris, can I encourage you to know where the Lord is calling you to plant you and establish you. Persevere in scriptures, give yourself to prayer and request to Him to send you a messenger that will speak His word to your spirit. You will know. When He does, hang in there because it won’t always be pretty. The messenger will speak God’s love to you, which means that God’s word through the flesh of that person and that community of believers will expose your heart, not one, but many times until the day you breath your last, which will make you take personal offense. But hang in there, because a true messenger has God’s love in his heart for you, enough to speak the truth and expose his cheek for you to slap it, and then turn the other one. By their fruit you will know them.

Alisa, please reference scripture as you bring up key points. As you speak the Spirit brings the word of God to my spirit. I am sure it does for you also.
If we are the vehicle speaking the Word of God that brings conviction we very well may be accused of harm.
It's strange to me that nearly everyone who discusses this kind of issue leaves out the truth about the unmitigated shallow teaching and biblically non literacy of believers found in the average congregation.
What if the basic, (then deeper) knowledge and understanding of God's breathed words was actually taught in the average congregation. Parents would then be able teach their own children, including being able to wisely discuss God's teachings, which includes God's plan from Genesis to Revelation, life and holiness, etc., with them. It is also, not biblical to have a "youth minister". If parents became mature believers they would be able to actually train up their children as they should, including how to defend the faith.
This will be difficult though because this would require Elders who actually qualify as Elders, many are not knowledgeable or even qualified teachers in the average congregation as some have admitted to me that they are not teachers themselves. My usual response to them is "you need to immediately resign" because according to scripture you are not qualified to be an Elder. They just grin though.
The teaching in the average congregation is all over the place with doctrine, even concerning salvation.
Seminaries are not the same in doctrine and are essentially rubber stamping Elders by awarding them with credentials making them defacto, qualified teachers.
Because of the lack of sound teaching and therefore, depth, and maturity in the average congregation, believers are forced unbiblically to look outside of their congregation contrary to Paul's instructions concerning Elders in 1 Timothy 3.
By choosing outside their congregation they instantiate that no man in their congregation is qualified to be an Elder, including a qualified teacher. The ones choosing an Elder to hire cannot possibly, biblically choose an Elder because they do not know said Elder, including every aspect that qualifies a man that desires to be an Elder per 1 Timothy 3.
Denominational distinction for example is a division of the Body by definition and has clearly happened because men who are over the congregations are of many conflicting doctrines from top to bottom in many cases.
This just scratches the surface for the incredibly shallow knowledge, understanding and immaturity throughout the environs of Christianity. The faith of those going to college, for example, have little or no faith that can withstand the incoherent, incompetent and lying rants of professors, and their weak faith, the faith of very many, is essentially shaken to the core or shattered.
Every time an atheist says there is no God, because of evil and suffering, many believers become mute, they have little or no ability to defend their faith or "the Faith".
This is how the Body of Christ arrives at 2 Timothy 4:3, etc. Believers are then relegated to a body of believers that for the most part essentially feel their way around.
Unless teaching is greatly improved throughout every Christian congregation it will only worsen and continue to be empty emoting. Augustinian Calvinism is as unbiblical as any false teaching and worse then most because they teach one is actually regenerated/ born again without even believing in Jesus the Xpistos (Christ). Also, One is only doing what is strictly determined by God when doing good or evil according to their definition of sovereign. Calvinism's 9 points- not just 5 called TULIP are clearly false. Calvinists will also talk, teach, and preach as though there is free will choice by their vocabulary, which betrays their doctrine of a Miticulous Determinism. This is probably the most deceitful doctrine because of the terms which are used by sound teachers.

I love the tacit and implied admission that religious belief is irrational when you try to apply the term to things on things that are obviously not religious (like secularism or evolution) in order to attack their credibility.

There are so many high attainers in Christianity. They just stay quiet once they fully forgive. Teaching by being it. Many of us walk with Jesus now.
Also if you judge yourself you will be uncertain and so others will feel it and question you. Comes a time no one questions you. But they see you. They feel your genuine peaceful ways. Your natural joy and inner non conflictual heart.
This takes place after you have forgiven yourself for judging.
See to have to forgive one has to condemn first. Once you no longer condemn there is nothing to forgive. If you don’t condemn pple will stop condemning you. It’s that simple but don’t sell it. Don’t make business from Christianity.

That produced martyrs, saints, and wonder workers. That convened the ecumenical counsels. That formalized the cannon of scripture. That church has existed continuously from then to now. The “Eastern” Orthodox church. But it gets written off as “not simple,” “not culturally relevant,” “too catholic.” The problem with shirking any authority of the church of the apostles
started with the schism of the Roman patriarchate in 1054, continued with the Reformation, and it shouldn’t be a mystery why everyone now thinks they can interpret the Bible any way they like, or dismiss it altogether, because that’s the way the ball has been rolling for over 1000 years
Great video! I never can understand the "theology light Jesus" of Progressives. They skip over the verses where even as a child in the temple Jesus spoke with the religious leaders of the days and how amazed they were at his questions. Then later after he began his public ministry, both the people and teachers of the law are amazed at his teaching which " has authority." Anyone who has read the Bible knows that Jesus was VERY theological. What he rejected was human tradition that ran against God's teaching in the OT and the hypocrisy of the leaders who made rules of men that contradicted God's word and only added burdens to people's lives.

Just a one-off note I've been listening to media from the Bible project which seems to be giving ground to the modern mind and the modern philosophy which may be exactly what you're referring to hear as far as Christianity no longer being what it used to be
I used to listed to Tim Mackie and subsequently the Bible project. It was all so fascinating to hear. ..until he started to get to the new testament. And suddenly it had a very universalism undertone. I 100% believe he is a progressive universalist

@@briannehill7583 this is shocking to me. Can you give specifics? I’ve watched many of their Bible videos including the NT and have never seen a hint of universalism. Believe me, I’m always wary of it and have marveled that they’re in the Pacific Northwest and have remained balanced.
