The pro-James people often have to point out that a lot of the commonly-held beliefs about James Potter are just fanon and not necessarily true (or are taken from the movie's version of him). For example, the idea that he relentlessly kept asking Lily out is fanon; we don't have evidence that it's true, but a lot of people assume it based on how he asked Lily out in Snape's flashback.

@@Sofia-wh9jr it’s a headcanon! realistically, he probably wouldn’t have been an actual stag. he’d have to have been big enough to intimidate a werewolf (remus). which a regular sized stag would most likely not do. but moose are huge, so people like to think that it makes more sense. plus as far as i know, moose don’t really live in england. so there’s no reason why in the 1970s they wouldn’t think james was just a really big stag! :)

@@mastermarkus5307 I think the community makes it easy for a lot of people to be exposed to the same headcanons for that character, so even if it's all made up, a lot of people can see it and share the same beliefs.
That's the thing about fanfiction: it doesn't have to be canon. And blank characters like James can be very fun to play with, especially after the whole jkr debacle and people realizing Harry Potter is kinda problematic, reimagining the characters and their adventures has been the way a lot of people have found to keep interacting with the fandom without all of the bullshit that's tied to it.

nick, here's a james cheat sheet; he's the mom friend, him and sirius black are best friends (practically brothers), he's a pureblood which means both his parents are wizards (in the hp universe purebloods are like the elite and rich families), he's super goofy just like YOU, and he is a massive oh wow just an absolutely huge simp for lily. that's pretty much all you need to know. and sure, maybe he's a bit of a bully but it's only to a really stinky and offensive guy who gets off on scaring children (when you watch the movies you will understand) and who also called lily a hp universe slur. sooo you decide who's in the wrong here...anyways you were made to play this role and anyone who disagrees is blind. (just a side note, he is hardly in the movies/books, so you're being fan casted for the fannon version of him not the cannon one.)

the marauders dont really make an appearance in the movies, they're discussed way more in the third book (prisoner of azkaban) than in the movie version, sadly. its more like a quick mention.
