Frostpunk 2 (Blind): City building in the frozen post-apocalypse (by doubling taxes)

- Frostpunk was a fairly unique survival city builder set in a version of the late 19th Century where the world was plunged into an ice age and your few hundred survivors had to struggle to survive in the aftermath.
Frostpunk 2 is set years later - the city you saved in the first game is now home to thousands. But resources are depleting, the old leaders have died, and it's now up to the player to keep the city alive against numerous threats, like hunger, cold...and politics.
So today, lets dive in blind ,and ensure the city survives (even if we have to double tax people and ban fun to do it).

If anyone wants to skip the prologue for the main campaign - the timestamp to do so is roughly 29:00 for the close out of the prologue. Enjoy!
You can't mention doing a playthrough of Frostpunk 1 and not do it! Yes, of course do a playthrough of Frostpunk 1 at some point (and maybe finish up the Dwarf Fortress playthrough :)!
Temporary stand-in while traveling? I know the original FP can be played on a notebook fairly well, so would not surprise me if the same was possible here. Fly safe btw, and would not blame you for any 'travel ire' given what I've heard is going on over there.
Also learning first-hand how surprisingly demanding X4 is on hardware; its one of the few games I own that gets my desktop running at a decent level. Looking around for a starter flight stick too, can't deal with the KVM controls (even with a couple Azeron controllers in play), and the Steam Controller was even worse. Thank you for that. 😛 /s
(Oh, and God help these poor villagers once CrystalDazz gets his hands on them...)
How is Terra Invicta loking, pls try Phoenix Point
We need a city planning powerpoint for this!
I couldn't agree more 😂
Damn right we do
With graphs
I’m very much enjoying the perun gaming content coming back. No one else is so analytical and powerful point driven when it comes to games. It’s very refreshing to watch and I feel like I learn something every time. Especially with Terra invicta your vids are the only reason I know how to play that game and now have hundreds of hours in it.
I feel like I'm learning how to manage an army from his content.
Frostpunk Perun, I see I click
I picked grapes this week with an Australian who was Handsome AF and had rugby legs. From now on, he's what I shall visualize when I hear you present a game 😂
I am pretty sure the wanderers from the prologue are the survivors that escaped on the dreadnought in the Fall of Winterhome scenario. When the elders talk about the "sinful city" they were probably talking about Winterhome that was still burning for as long as they could see it as they left.
Our favorite Australian doesn't disappoint. Didnt expect you to play Frostpunk 2 as well.
Please don’t abandon X4 though, I love that game
I love your titles and the reality that this what these games are about.
The "double taxation" tax strat is legitimately good. I was curious if postponing taxing and alternatively try to rush approval was better, but having enough Heatstamps early is so powerful.
From the first game they claimed that the weather become cold because of massive volcanic eruptions in the south.
From memory, there were hints and nods going in several directions, kind of implying it wasn't one single thing. Including mentions of governmental fuckery. Though, that last bit could just as easily have been ol-timey crackpots flourishing in the chaos.
The sun was dimming as well
I would love to see a series on Frostpunk 2
Good to know that if the world ends Perun will still make us pay taxes.
One of my favorite games now game series with one of my favorite youtubers. I actually managed to barely scrape together a win on my first campaign and would genuinely love to see how you tackle the campaign as well as the Utopia mode which has wholly different factions for you to play with should you check it out. This first episode already taught me how to better optimize my cities for the future.
Holy moly, perun playing frostpunk? Instant click.
A blind play through should be fun since we don’t know any metas yet
this seems really fun
OK.... waiting to see where it goes.
OH I see how it is, get me addicted to x4, now get me addicted to Frost punk? I see your game upside down man
I think ill get this game myself, I hope we get a series on this
Ooohhh blind Perun!!!
Lets goooo more perun gaming content
Is it just me or is there some kind of echo effect on Perun's voice in this video?
Oh cool what a pleasant surprise.
Seems to be some weird audio compression on this one.
Its kind of an interesting effect. Sometimes it sounds like he's underwater
i hope youll pass laws in favour of the workforce
How does one calculate GDP when your city state doesn’t use money?
Heatstamps appear to be a fiat currency - redeemable for, well, heat rations. Government seems to hands them out in order to purchase 'extra' labour beyond ordinary workplace efforts (e.g. frost breaking, construction etc.)
comment
sadly, the landscapes weren't procedurally generated in frostpunk...replayability rapidly diminished.
Having oil a few days closer or further from New London doesn’t seem to make nearly the same impact as your political choices do.
4:56 corpse starch and soylent green. Hopefully they grow mushrooms or some such.
