Hi Olha, I have a question, maybe stupid but I have doubts... I'm working on the Amati Fly and I have to paint the wales. Can I use the paint directly on the wood or do I have to set the wood first with some wood product, for example, sealer or shellac? PS: I'm trying to make nails with toothpicks...you're amazing!!!! 🔝🔝🔝 Thanks a lot for your work!
If there is a desire, it is better to use a primer... I usually paint the wood and then use bitumen, shellac, osmo and so on on the painted part along with the whole hull...
Olha, I'm guessing that you are still building the HMS Pegasus and that the hull is where you are at this time. Would there be a way to go back and number each portion of the build? I am finding it difficult to determine the chronological aspect to your build. Love what your doing, however!!

Hi Olha, I am at this point now with my HMS Fly build and have a couple of questions. how long did you calculate the Wales planks to be, as in distance between but joints. also will you use the same length for the upper hull planking?
Hi there! During this period, the length of the planks of the ships was about 14-20 m, which will be 20-30 cm in scale. I am currently in the process of thinking about how to do planking above the wales...

Hi Olha, just a tip, if you soak your wood in house hold ammonia for a few hours the wood can be bent easily without the use of an iron, if I have a bend that is very sharp I will soak for 24 hours. I have read that Chris Craft used this technique on their boats and the benefit of the mahogany that they used (it looks very light brown before the ammonia) would turn a beautiful red. Rich

I have to try this, maybe on the next model))) I usually just boil the planks, they then dry instantly while hot and can be easily bent (you can literally twist a walnut plank into a knot and it won't break). What is the liquid aplied in the irst part of the vid
It was just water for steaming the planks!
