    I have been a scale modeler for almost 50 years, and while I've never built a wooden ship model, I can appreciate the workmanship required. You do beautiful work. I would love to see more ladies in this hobby. I hope you are an inspiration to them. You have earned my subscription. 👍

    I am also a dedicated modeller (since too many years I am scratchbuilding a British -74 from 1811). I also enjoyed buildng Hellerś 1:100 scale HMS Victory and the Soleil Royal. Your ambitious documentation of every step (jncluding preparation) is so inspiring! For the moment I am following your project USS Confederacy and waiting for #10. In due time I hope to pick up your way of making the deadeyes for my -74 (in scale 1:44!). Thanks for an astonishing show!

      Be honest! Each of my videos is filmed within 1-2 weeks on average. Each plank should dry for at least 10-12 hours, that's why I work on several models at the same time. While the glue dries on one - I take the other in my hands...

    I see there is more then just gleu planks to the hull. I did try it myself with a sailing ship but could not figere out what they mend with first and second planking. Now i have seen what its like. I admire your skill of making a hull and i see to do it right it takes even some calculations to get a good result. This ship is surtainly not the first one you have made, i can see that. You have a very good techniek. Thanks for showing how its done the proper way. I sure have learned a lot of it. Many thanks from a modelmaker.

    I really enjoy your builds, very calming and very informative. Keep doing what you're doing. Its great.
    Like a few others Im still confused on your planking calculations. I have read your blog, but it doesnt explain how you come up with your numbers. I see you get the measurement in mm on the 4 areas (max, min, bow, stern). Then you divided the max by 4.2 (the width of the 10 planks) the 2 sections next to the max you divide the length by half (2.1), and the bow back to 4.2, why?
    When making the tick strips you show using 3.6 for each tick at the bow... where did that number come from and how do you calculate for the other sections. Thank you so much for doing this. It really helps us beginners see the techniques that work and how to do them.

    • @OlhaBatchvarov
      @OlhaBatchvarov  7 месяцев назад

      Let me try to simplify the explanation!
      - First you need to count the number of planks on the largest frame (which is obviously the midship frame). That is, I divide the length of the frame by the width of my planks.
      - All other frames will have the same number of planks, only narrowed. Therefore, I divide the length of the frames by the number of planks on the midship frame.
      - The exception will be the bow and stern, depending on the design of the ship, you will have to drop the planks in the bow or add short ones in the stern...

    Я таким методом расчета планок тоже пользовался. Но на более крупном корпусе и без черновой. Но из-за ошибок округления и неточности изготовления планок, я пересчитывал через каждые n планок. Так удалось избежать укороченных рядов. И не пользовался паяльником, а кипятил планку, крепил её сырую на место без клея, она высыхала и уже позже клеил. Долго конечно, но получались такие замысловатые изгибы. Просто так паяльником не изогнешь.

    • @OlhaBatchvarov
      @OlhaBatchvarov  3 года назад +1

      Точно ето не бЬІстрЬІй процесс. Как раз тот случай когда "Тише едешь - дальше будеш". Обшивка на корпусе ето одна из его красивейших деталей и тут надо посидеть подольше)))

    @pavelkruk5428 3 года назад +1

    Ольга браво. Отличный результат.
    Планируете сборку по инструкции или выполнить доработки по рангоуту и такелажу по уму. При всем уважении к Амати в инструкции в этой части бренд. При этом есть кране подробная анатомия.
    П.с. у Амати огромная ошибка по корпусу по сравнению с реальной теорией. Я на своей модели сделал рангоут из расчета 1:64 хотя исходя из длины корпуса тут ближе 1:50. Чертежи рантгоута могу вам прислать.

    • @OlhaBatchvarov
      @OlhaBatchvarov  3 года назад

      Спасибо большое!
      Мне самой интерестно поколупать набор!
      Я уже начала с корпуса дорабатЬІвать. Рангоут Амати даже не смотрела они упрощают до уровня ниже плинтуса что б каждЬІЙ ребенок мог построить. По етому и корпус тоже хромает.
      Я вооружилась 4 томами Девида Антчерла SWAN CLASS SLOOPS 1767 - он разжевал все до таких мелочей что грех не апгрейдить набор до состояния приличной модели))) Я собираюсь шить паруса тоже!

      @@OlhaBatchvarov на этот четырех томник и основывался, паруса тоже поставил размеры из книги брать на прямую нельзя из за Амати.
      На канал подписался буду с удовольствием следить.
      П.с. у Шевелёва есть возможность заказать стволы в замен (литьевевые формы у него уже есть). Ещё момент медь чем-то покрыта, и это покрытие пожалуй стоит удалить заранее, на модели запарился чистить, при контакте с ЦА покрытие размягчается и чернеет.

    Lavoro stupendo, veramente tanti complimenti !!! Un unico appunto, potresti usare una musica di sottofondo un po' più allegra ? un cordiale saluto e buon modellismo.

    Olha, do you plan a video on rigging? I’m trying to become more adept at notching. I’d love a verbal explanation on these steps

      When I start rigging, I will shoot it in detail. I describe all the processes in subtitles (in English) so that viewers from different countries can use autotranslation...

    Amazing video, as always!
    Olha, a question.
    If I only want to make 1 layer of planking, how do I do to make the nail holes disappear, without losing the "wooden" finish of the hull????
    I want to make a wooden hull, but If i use nail, holes will appear.... If I use some putty to hide it, I lose the "wooden" appearance.
    And the kits I bought have no 2 layering... Don't want to spend more in buying more planks... hehehe
    Any tips? thanks a lot!!!!! You're a big inspiration, thank you for the videos.

      Thank you very much!
      You can make a single-layer planking, but I warn you that it will be three times slower and ten times more difficult to do... You can glue the planks with a soldering iron or a small iron (for this, it is better to fill the spaces with linden or basswood wood, then the planks can be bent directly on the hull for using the same soldering iron). The second option is to make clamps, as in this video, but more reliable, because you can fasten them only on the frames...

      @@OlhaBatchvarov Thank you for your time! Great tips. I will try the methods and see which goes better with the build.
      Cheers!! Helped me a lot.
