I live not far from Ontario California where they hold the "Road to California " quilt show every January. It is a HUGH quilt show, and like yours, it has lots and lots of vendors. This year it was special because I bought a long arm quilting machine there and I am almost done quilting a quilt with it for the first time. Not perfect, and maybe not too good, but DANG!, was it fun! Always wanted to visit Scotland and enjoyed the pics. Thanks 😊

I have participated in and helped at quilt shows with my guild. They are non-juried shows except for a viewers' choice and one other award. The Market place has only about four stalls; the rest is about the over 100 quilts or quilted objects. There is also a demo area. All this is still on hold since the pandemic. I really enjoyed this video and seeing what is being done by quilters elsewhere!

    • @ScrapFabricLove

Always love a quilt show, thanks for taping it!
It must be at least a partly juried exhibition. I saw a couple of ribbons, and a sign, saying “highly commended.”

    • @ScrapFabricLove
      @ScrapFabricLove  Год назад

Yes - I think I said that wrong. There are prizes but it’s not juried to enter. So for example you have to be selected to show at QuiltCon even before you are in the running for an award. Whereas this show anyone can enter and have their quilt shown and judged.

I want first to tell you I found your channel when I was under the weather aka sick and in bed and I enjoyed watching your videos which made my down time better!
I have been to Houston Market and Festival in 2017. What an experience. Quilting on staroids! We went to see an exhibit my friend curated on Canadian quilts for our 150 Anniversary of our country. I had a quilt in the exhibit. What an over the top dream come true it was.
Then I have been to other regional and local shows. Each experience is so different. I have been to QuiltCanada only once when it was near to me but hope to make it back when it is in Toronto, Ontario again. Quilt Canada rotates through the country. And it is a big country land wise. Quilt Canada is our Canadian showcase exhibition of Quilting and holds classes and vendors with a beautiful juries show.
My local Modern Quilt Guild is hosting a Modern Guild Showcase next May so that will be fun to volunteer at and see. I have to start to make some things to enter. Hopefully it will be successful and happen every 2 to 3 years.
Thanks for showing your Craft and Quilt show. I love Scotland and have been twice. We stayed in Edinburgh and did some traveling too. Inverness was as far as we ventured. It is on our bucket list to return.
Toronto use to hold a Creative Festival which I went to over 20 years. But Covid seems to have killed it off. It was mainly vendors and covered all kinds of crafts.

How inspiring. There was one in the middle of your montage, with very subtle and muted color tones and some various scenes. Then another one which looked like a photograph of a little girl sitting down near the water. These two quilts put an idea into my head about making a quilt about my childhood home, using a photo as the main pattern. I still make very elementary, not show-worthy quilts, but nonetheless, I think I might try this lofty goal someday.

Viewers can slow the quilt show by touching the ‘cog’ wheel button at the top of their screen (which is the settings) and reducing the playback speed (does make the music go funny though.) Great quilts. Love to know if the blade sharpener does the trick. Thanks

I sure did enjoy this....I thought you were very restrained in what you bought considering all the vendors. But sometimes out like that, it is so overwhelming it is almost easier to be restrained as to make a decision. I liked the cork. Hope the sharpener works for you.

Thanks for sharing this video. I enjoy going to shows since many shops from places too far to visit are represented and the variety of quilts on display are so inspiring. I always go with a group of friends and we all have a nice time. I live in Edmonton and I have 2 quilt shows to look forward to this year. One in May 2023 in Red Deer Alberta, and one in June in Edmonton.

Loved seeing all those beautiful quilts! They were very impressive! I've only been to 2 quilt shows local to me. One was done by my quilters guild and the other was a bigger county type show. They were both really nice in their own ways. The county show looked a little like your Scottish show. The quilters guild show was much, much smaller and only featured quilts by guild members. Also, the guild did not do a competition, so no ribbons, etc.

Nice to have a variety of different ones near you that you can visit. I am hoping to attend the bigger U.K. show in England this summer so I guess I’ll see how different that is to the Scottish one.

I was there on the first day and completely forgot to take photos of the quilters I admired so thank you for this! Comic-Con was on next door so odd things left in the coat check to be expected I guess. 😂 pPatchwork quilting isn’t a traditional craft here as it is the the states, so not as many people do it as a hobby. I was surprised at how many Competition quilts were there. The shopping is a big part of all type of shows here in the UK…

Hello from across the water in Fife. As an eclectic creator I used to go to that show every year but then I stopped going probably around 10 years ago. For me the cost was not worth what was available. The cost of parking and tickets went up every year and the show got smaller. I refuse to give my money for it to be honest. I do wish there was more available. I am hoping to find a quilting group local to me, though I confess, working shifts does not make it easy to establish a routine of going to a group regularly lol T x
