I agree - completely Suzanne. While the ones they pick as winners are beautiful, there are some that are just as worthy. I just love looking at these quilts...never get tired of watching my own video. LOL
Thank you Jo! Quilters can be funny people too! 🙂 I'm working on the Springfield Quilt show now - but after that one we have the Cincinnati and Nashville shows - at the Nashville show there is an amazing quilt of Paul McCartney - can't wait to show you that one!
Thanks for showing all of those amazing quilts. I don’t know how the judges choose from so many great works of art. The talent is crazy good. I loved seeing them all.
I often think of that too Marie - I'm told that the judges don't look for perfection, which is interesting. They look for timelessness. I'm sure I've watched this video more than anyone (since I made it) and I STILL keep watching it...I keep seeing new things in the quilts. Some quilters put secret messages in their quilts...which just makes me look at them longer and longer! LOL I'm glad you liked the video!
Thank you Irene! I wish I didn't have to rush through each one...my last video I gave each quilt five seconds, this time I stretched it to six seconds - doesn't seem fair but the length of the video gets pretty crazy if I stretch the time longer per quilt.
Thank you so much Pat - I understand the comment on the camera work, I made a point to be very conscious of the view from a phone or a laptop while making the video.
During COVID shut down, to pass the time I sewed masks and started to learn how to quilt(something I had been wanting to learn for some time.). Now I’m hooked on quilting! Your presentation of the quilt show was awesome! Truly enjoyed it!
I'm so glad you enjoyed it Pam! I tried to imagine how many lifetimes I was looking at if one made these quilts one at a time...one after another. Sometimes one quilt can take a year or two to make (others not so much). For instance, I've been working on a quilt for a year and a half...but not every day...okay, I haven't looked at it in months. :-)
What a fabric hour spent in Wisconsin viewing masterpieces. My favourite was the hands stitching the blue patchwork quilt. No idea how to find it again amongst so many, but left with so many ideas. Great video skills. Thanks for sharing, from Chester UK.
Thank you so much! Yes, yes, the blue patchwork quilt is a nice one! But...so were the rest of them! One of the reasons I take my time at these shows is to give quilters ideas so I'm glad you noticed that. Each show is a creativity overload!
Thanks for showing me my quilt hanging. I love how you showed the medallion in the center and came out to the full quilt. It is at 44:31. I have been at all the shows except the ones after Covid. It was great to get to see all of the quilts.
I'm so glad you enjoyed my video Deb - I do most things slowly, take my time. The beauty is in the details - in the moment. I hope you've been able to get to more shows!
Thank you so much Luan, that means a lot to me. It is a lot of work. The day after I launch a video, I get working on the next...so yes, they take weeks to produce. You words encourage me to keep them coming!
You're so welcome Carmen - I am drawn to the unusual, quirky and yes, WILD art too...but at the same time, the traditional has a sense of timeless beauty as well.
Fabulous stuff! I have to say it makes me wonder what I'm even doing carving up fabric when I've clearly got nowhere near the gift for it these people have. Thanks for documenting this for those of us who aren't traveling.
Thank you so much Jane! Just remember (as I hear at the shows), everyone has their first quilt...I believe it takes just as much passion to make your first quilt as it does to make your 100th quilt, maybe even more. I love looking at the quilts, such talent and skill...I hope you post your quilts so that others can enjoy them too!
It is easy to feel this way. I just gifted an "ordinary" quilt to my sister for her birthday though it was quite pretty). To her it was a beautiful as anything seen here. That's the perspective we need to maintain.
Different quilts, different jobs to do. My quilts will keep someone warm even if they don't win any beauty contests. And who knows what mischief I could get into if I didn't have my quilting to keep me off the streets. 😏
@@robertawalsh2995 Regardless of the function or skill level, you took the time to make it - so that makes it special Roberta. I know I'd rather be doing things, seeing things and making things than being a couch potato. The "doing" adds value to my life...even doing mischief, because then I have fun stories to tell. 🙂
I’m so glad I found your channel! Really good camera & editing work ( I appreciate not having to take a Dramamine!), heartfelt & sincere commentary and your music choice is OffThe Hook!!! All in all, a very enjoyable hour spent with you. Thank you 😊
Thank you so much Andrea! I really appreciate you spending your time watching the video. I know they are long, but how can I not put every single quilt in the video? I can never skip one - ever. I'll be posting more quilt show videos soon.
You're very welcome Mickey! I'm so glad you enjoyed it! Thank you ~ still learning the video editing part, even this video is a little rough, but I decided to post it anyway...because you know, do you want it perfect or do you want it done? LOL
I agree ~ a few may even be priceless because of the time it took, how they were made, who made it, and what they were made from (sentimental fabric, etc). For example, there's not enough money in the world to buy my mom's quilt she made 40 years ago. I do see quilts for sale though - and are certainly in the thousands of dollars. However, I was at a show in Colorado where one of the winners was asked how much she'd sell her quilt for...and a vendor bought it for $50. You just never know.
Thank you so much for your efforts in bringing us a peek at all those beautiful quilts!!! I love that you did still photos instead of a shaky video. Great work!
Thank you so much Holly - it's a lot of fun to make these videos (but yes, they take a lot of time to make). My goal is to capture the design but also the detail of the work that goes into each quilt. When there are this many quilts though, I allot only six seconds per quilt (unless I feature a quilt on video)...six seconds isn't much but if it was more, videos like these would be HOURS long. LOL I'm glad you enjoyed the quilts - more to come at the Springfield Missouri show!
The show was mesmerizing!!😮❤👍 I'm liking so I can find it to watch again. Thank you so much for excellent production work and really jazzy 😲 music 🎶! Almost distracting! But then I told myself I could turn it down or off but it was sooo fun! 😀 Superior workmanship and over and above creativity, thank you again.
Thank you Jayne! There's a lot of quilts...right? LOL I chose the music in this video to keep it interesting, keep your attention. The last thing I want is to for you to even have a hint of being bored because somebody's grandmother, mother, daughter or dad made these quilts...it would be such an injustice to come across a quilt and not appreciate it - respect the time it took to make, the thoughts and dreams while designing it...each one of these quilts deserve our attention. Yes - they are all masterpieces in one respect or another as far as I'm concerned.
A great variety of wonderful quilts. Enjoyed the American experience and thank you for uploading. Did you have a favourite? There are some very talented quilters out there. Kudos to them. Love from the U.K.
Thank you Mary ~ I appreciate you watching my video! Choosing a favorite - well, that's just impossible. LOL I just love looking at all of them - all skill levels, because each quilt represents a time in that quilters life...making one is no small feat. I'll be posting more quilt videos soon.
Hello new here... fabulous video and very fun.. i had it on in the background while I worked.. who is the lovely lady that is doing the music for your video
Hi Cheri! Welcome to my channel! :-) I found a few very talented singers for this video - in fact, I'm quite worried how to top this video with the music selection. The music credits are at the very end of the video. Not many videos credit their musical talent but I get so many requests about "who was that??" that I credit them at the end specifically...because I just love the songs I found. By the way, this was not a live performance - thanks to the magic of editing, I created the affect.
Hi NurseKate! Thank you for watching! Welcome to my channel! :-) Yes, there is a way to get stencils from me directly...just come to my booth when I'm in your town! LOL Okay, if that's not convenient or you don't want to wait, you can get them from my sister's website: FullLineStencil.com I hope that helps!
Thank you! Due to some changes, I'm not doing as many shows any more as a vendor. What I'm thinking of doing is just attending and taking pictures of the quilts when I don't vend at the particular show. I love doing these videos, they take an enormous amount of work, but I love it. I've been also planning out content for my traveling videos on a regular basis, perhaps every other week. Thank you again for the comment, it means a lot to me.
@@vickiepike2677 Thank you Vickie! 🙂 I never get tired of looking at the quilts - making a video like this, I watch it dozens and dozens of times before posting it...looking at the quilts over and over and over again. I'll always be in awe of the skill and talent. :-)
I was thinking of doing the Daytona AQS show (which is the same weekend as Quiltcon) but the traveling from Arizona would mean I would miss several other shows...so I won't be at either, instead going to a few shows instead of just one.
I know how you did it. You sent her a bottle of spiced rum and a fine cigar. How could she resist after that? Lol These quilts are amazing. I need how to figure out how to send this to my cousin. She’s the quilting Queen.
You know me better than that Rhonda...LOL Give away my rum...AND a cigar? Both? LOL I'm tempted to tell you but I know that PBS people watch me. ;-) I'll send you a message. Very talented n very good designs
How in the world do judges pick one quilt over another when they are all so spectacular. Congratulations to all the artists!
