    I bet you will move the condenser at some point. All the road crap will clog the fan and to not run. I would build a mount to install on the frame at the back of your cab. I love the one on my truck and will always have a terminal king on my truck.

  • @John_Linn

    You’re rig is top shelf…but I’m thinking there’s a reason that condenser fan is typically mounted high up on the backside of the cab. Be nice to hear your experience on it! Great content amigo 😊

    Hey buddy, long time follower. Love your content. I just bought a 2023 T680, and I’m putting a new APU on it. Noticed your undercarriage mounting of your fan/AC evaporator (the unit typically mounted on the back of the cab). How’s that worked out? Would ya recommend that mounting spot buddy?

    Wow, that seems really expensive.
    A 3000w Honda generator is $2000, an AC unit for an RV is about $800 and a RV heater is about $400. Those are the basic parts, with maybe a couple deep cycle batteries.
    So if thermoking is shopping retail for their parts supply (which they're not) they are overcharging by about $5000.

  • @Davefromwisconsin
    @Davefromwisconsin 4 года назад

    12/30/20 my TK dealer just called to tell me my truck is ready. I had a tripac installed over the last few days. I cannot believe how many O/Os even have told me idling is cheaper. I guess they can’t math. I bought the truck in October(18 years in, my first truck) and when the weather in my area turned cold enough that I had to idle I cried myself to sleep thinking about the $ going out into the atmosphere. The list of things that make my truck awesome just doubled in size 1 it’s a glider and 2 It’s got an apu. Sure 12Gs is a lot of coin but I guarantee it’ll pay for itself in less than 3 years. And if the fuel price keeps going up it’ll only pay for itself faster. Wish me luck.

    A gentleman I ran into had 40k on his Tri Pak. And he bought it used. The Comfort Pro I had on a company truck blew. My boss bought 6. They all sucked. He bought 6 Tri Paks and they all work fine. Another company I worked for had Tri Paks. They didn't do anything to them as far as maintenance hardly. And they all worked fine. And they moved them from truck to truck.

    I get having the fan of the tripac hidden behind the tool box in terms of looks. The truck def looks better without it on the back of the truck. Having said that, isn’t it more prone to take damage in that position?? Btw I would have put it in the same position. Has it been damaged yet??

    I thought the S-Bar heaters ran on diesel fuel? So does your heat come from the coolent water from the APU through that small box via a heat exchanger, or is it electric and gets the power to make heat from the generator? You mentioned the pieces were all part of the tri-pack, but based on other trucker videos who have S-Bar heaters with an exhaust pipe, I'm confused about how you setup works. Sorry, I'm not a trucker.

    • @LifeisGood2018

    • @littlewingpsc27

      So the "Hot & Cold" knob on the APU control panel just does AC and not Heat? Or does the APU also have electric heat and AC?

  • @tanaka.shinji1
    @tanaka.shinji1 5 лет назад

    Yes, it is good to have apu. However, this runs alot during summer and winter, and if you are not maintainng well, it breaks down alot.
    I went to shop so many times, and do not know why they can sell this apu.
    Normal generator changes oil every trip, but this apu changes oil every 6 months or less. It can break down just becsuse of that reason only.

    The battery experts say to let the volts go below 12.2 isn't good. Cuts the life of the batteries. At 12.2 the batteries are at a half charge. It's not me but I would go back to 12.5

    • @stevegriffith6478
      @stevegriffith6478 7 лет назад

      I have been in single digits a lot, only time I run the truck is when the APU can’t make up its mind and starts and stops every 5 min. If I could find a way to just keep it running I wouldn’t idle the truck unless it was below -10 ambient. The APU will keep the coolant above freezing as well as the fuel seeing it has a return to the tank. All lines under the truck and hood are wrapped up. And blocked from wind. But once again it’s a mute point cause the APU has a mind of its own. I’m more afraid of the starter going out as much as it likes to start and stop.

    Great videos, thanks for sharing; Ice Road Truckers could use units like that or maybe you could head up there and teach them a thing or two!

    GREAT, another gadget on the truck that burns fuel..LOL, I’d never waste my money on that junk, there’s absolutely nothing wrong with idling a DIESEL ENGINE, they’re made to constantly run.

      undercoverboss2020 - If you want to idle a 15 liter Diesel all night you can, but the fuel cost is going to creep up on you over time. And the less you have to run a DEF engine the better, they’re not quite as worry free as Diesels used to be.

      Red Bluesome , I understand, I hate CAPITALISM; they always create junk and changes even when it’s REDUNDANT; the end result always cost the consumers. Mechanics have it the worst, they constantly have to update their tools because of changes, most of them don’t receive a tool allowance anymore, I WONDER WHY THAT IS? LOL.
      The number one enemy to the American People is not North Korea , or the Taliban, or Al Qaeda; if you want to MAKE AMERICA GREAT AGAIN, KILL CAPITALISM, IT ONLY BENEFITS THE RICH.

      Well when it comes to saving a 65000 dollar engine then you would have one. Yes diesels are made to run. But DEF systems are made to work when engine is under a load. Idling for your 34 hour break does not put load on engine even with it idled up to 950 RPM to maintain oil pressure to the top end or motor. So therefore you will have problems with you DPF SYSTEM in the future.... If you dont idle the new engines they wont cause you problems. Idleing kills these DEF, DPF OR CARB COMPLIANT ENGINES/ SYSTEMS. Do some research maybe you will understand the reason behind the APU. Also it's a safety function. Say your road engine fails in ND at -65 below in a blizzard guess what you wont care cause you will be cozy and warm watching tv an making coffee while you wait for NDOT or some other calvary to come rescue you. Or you can freeze to death take your pick! Maybe you should drive around more an broaden your horizons before you talk about stuff you dont know anything about. See ya on the flipside!!!
