A few tips that I learned from my Mom about cookies, eat before you bake so you are full and there will be cookies left for packing. Once you pack a box tie it with ribbon so you won’t open and eat them. When making melt in your mouth cookies have a bowl of ice water near you. Dip your hands in the ice water so the heat of your hands won’t melt the butter in the recipe, that way the butter melts in the oven leaving air in the cookie. Lastly, make sure that your grill has a green light and is warm enough to cook your cookies and heat will stay consistent so you can trust a timer and they won’t burn or darken too much. A red light means it is not up to the temperature that you set. You also won’t have to keep turning the heat up. Close the lid when moulding your cookies around the form or wait for the green light again. It was a pleasure to see old recipes become awesome cookies again! Merry Christmas to the both of you.🎄
👍
Those are good tips! One more: I’ve started making the doughs over the last couple of weeks before Christmas and putting them in the freezer. Then I just get out what I’m ready to bake in one day. That way they’re all fresh when I give them and the ones you roll are actually easier to roll when the dough is super cold…but mostly, it helps keep too many of them from being eaten!
@@maryannc7223 Ooh, what a good idea, tying with ribbon! Must try that.
The next best comedy show to Faulty Towers is the Arne and Carlos show! 🤗🤗🤣
Thank you!❤
My mom used the palm of her hand to do her measuring all dry ingredients, or her fingers for like salt, pepper, etc. for like lard or oil she used the size of spoon that you showed. I never saw her use measuring utensils ever. She was the best cook that I've ever known and she learned from her step mom, her mom died when she was 8 years old. Those two women were my inspiration in my life. I will always aspire to be like them.
Oh Arne...I have been married to a Virgo for over 30 yrs now...I am a Pisces so has been challenging at times but the best thing to ever happen to me...Pisces need Virgos in thier lives. Opposites attract so they say.🥰 love watching the both of you interact and enjoy whatever you are making...I think you two need to have a cooking show, Sharon 😍
😍We need to look into that!
Arne and Carlos, you both never seize to amaze me......the humor is the best it certainly helps to pick up one’s spirit. You both will need to take a rest after this “workout”.......greetings from across the ocean........mc
We will have a well deserved holiday!
My favorite comment this time was “put your cookie where your mouth is” ! Priceless cooking lessons. Keep up the good work. Thanks!
I loved Arne's excitement over recreating his mom's cookies. Carlos's cookies looked marvelous. I am enjoying the sweaters and their matching balls. Thank you for bringing joy, love and happiness into my life daily. I can't wait to see tomorrow's sweater and ball.
All I have to say about this episode is “Basil!” Carlos will fully understand.. lol!
😂
Wow! Talk about a spotless uncluttered kitchen! Amazing!
Thank you!❤
If you put a wet cloth under the bread board it will not slide around.
Thanks for all the holiday kitchen fun!
Or a wet paper towel
Thank you!❤
"Put your cake where your mouth is" Arne 😆😅😂🤣👍
😂❤
Ha ha 😁 Helmer is a noisy eater!! He really enjoyed the doggie treats. xx
Absolutely incredible festive sweaters !! So good to see your smiling faces. It's a wonderful day when I get to watch you both in the kitchen. Like an adventure mystery, wrought with dangers at every turn :)...
Ooooo!! What fun!! Love the cookies and the Advent gifts!! ❄️☃️❄️
Thank you!❤
It is always fun to hang out in your kitchen and see how you bake your fabulous cookies! This is a difficult time of year to be health-conscious! I love that watching you is low-calorie!
True!
Carlos: “Should we taste one?” Arne: “I think we should!” Classic A&C
🤣
Best episode this advent! One of the dogs drinking his water had me in stitches 😀😀😀
😂
Enjoying this Sunday of baking. You have to let the pan get hot again, by closing the top. You can’t be in too much of a hurry.
Thank you!❤
Close the machine in between cookies
I agree 😋
Thank you!❤
Loved the episode. My husband and I were watching, and we were laughing because whenever we bake cookies it becomes a bit of an eating fest as well. Carlos, when you mentioned Fawlty Towers, well I was positive then that you were a kindred spirit - best comedy ever! Enjoy your cookies 💕
Thank you!❤
Oh Carlos! I LOVE Fawlty Towers!! Hilarious!!
😊
A little chef's trip for everyone....if you lay a damp tea towel under your chopping board it doesn't slip.
Thank you for delicious recipes!
Thank you!😊
My favorite is Arne saying “can I lick the bowl”
I love to watch you make cookies. And talk about everything and anything. I’m headed to my friends house to craft and maybe bake !
We hope you had a good time.
i made pancakes for my mother and i this morning for breakfast, my dog, Jules sat next to me....i sit on a chair while i cook the pancakes....but she sat next to me and i "accidently" dropped one on purpose...so she got a lucky pancake for breakfast.....so i know how Fraya feels....my Jules is the same way
Lucky!
The Cookie Monster must live at your house! Lol! Losing battle? At least you’re both good at baking. I’m enjoying your advent baking a lot. Happy Advent!
Happy Advent!
Watching the two of you comment on each other's cooking and sampling just baked cookies is like visiting with friends. Thank you for the enjoyment you provide.
Thank you for joining!
Crum Kaka are my very favorite Anberlin reeds are my second favorite Norwegian cookies. I have been making krumkaka for as long as I can remember and I am 82. I've never made them with potatoes in them. That sounds very good I will try it. I make mine on the stove with an iron like you showed. When I would take my children to my Norwegian Auntie she would just put together the cookies right in the instant if she didn't have them made and she had a wood burning stove period such good memories
Like Lefse Yes I add almond and vanilla extract
👍
Arne - your mother's krumkake recipe is phenomenal - best I've ever had - so thin and crisp - I tried the 2nd Advent krumkake recipe and like you I found it tasty but thick. So happy that you shared one of your family treasures with us. Love spending my Sunday afternoons "baking with you"!
You are welcome and we are glad to hear that it turned out great!
I am with Arne and sneaking cookies 😇😁
😍
Ha! Ha! Arne is enjoying cooking and eating! So naughty but fun! Love to watch you guys bake and cook! Love the Woden candle holders with red candles! I like older style things like Arne and I’m think I’m as naughty as him ha! Ha! Now I want to bake cookies but I’ll eat them all myself! Thank you as always ! Happy baking ! Xx 🎄🎅🏻😘🇬🇧
Arne, I have so many of my mom’s recipes written in her hand and it makes me feel that she is near when I cook from them. Thank you, guys, for inviting us into your kitchen for Advent baking. ❤️❤️
Thank you for joining Deborah!
Deborah Coyle I feel the same way when I fetch out my mom's Christmas cookies recipes. ❤
@@anitasmith9914 we are so fortunate 😌
Longing for the Christ Child. The pretzel represents praying hands. Those cookies look so yummy!
Thank you!❤
What a treat. There is nothing like homemade cookies.
❤️
What a lovely relaxing entertaining hour!! Arne's whisk brought back so many forgotten memories of cooking with my grandmother
❤️
Ha ha, I don’t think there will be any cookies left for Christmas at your house! Yummy!
The krumkakes look like stylized trees! Very festive. I wish I could crunch one down!
I can taste those Berliner Kranser! When I was little it was my job to roll the "pencils" and form the wreaths and I was better at it than my mother. I don't dare bake them now because I will eat them all. They really do melt in your mouth. Love these Sunday episodes!
Thank you!❤
I love watching the 2 of you baking Christmas cookies. I have your videos playing while I bake my grandmother’s Swedish cookie recipes. It’s just not the holidays without homemade goodies!
the white stuff attached to the yolk is called the chalaza - it suspends the yolk inside the egg so it is always surrounded by the albumen - the egg white
Some recipes have you remove it for a more smooth mixture. It’s a tricky step.
@@daylchapman9800 sometimes i do - it kind of creeps me out
😊
We were mesmerized when watching a gentleman make krumkake in old town Sweden. As always, thanks for the inspiration. I’m going to have to put those kitchen tools back on my wish list this year!🕯👩🏼🍳❤️🍪🥛
You are welcome!
Cooking in another language!!! Is there anything you two cannot do? And I love your measuring devices! Mother is always right!
Oh my I just love the VW Bug mug .. I had a 1966 VW bug in blue ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️. Y’all r pulling at my hear strings 🙂🙂
Thank you for supporting us, nxt year we might make it blue!
Cookies never last long enough to get into the box! Yours are beautiful. Thanks for giving us Arne’s mum’s recipe. Xxoo
😊
Oh man that brings back memories. I haven't had krumkruckers in years.
They are delicious!
This was very enjoyful as it was true to life. So much fun watching the both of you in the kitchen. Merry Christmas to you.
Merry Christmas!
My Mom used to make Berlinerkranse - SO yummy!! You bring back lovely memories - thank you!!!
I still use my grandmother's Krumkaka iron, it sits on the stove over the flame to cook. Tricky but works well. My Norwegian grandmother used a spoon to put the batter on the iron, and used a flat knife to take it off and roll onto the dowel.
Thank you for the tip!❤
Hi guys..love when you guys cook...it is my favorite. !!!!!!
Thank you!❤
Love watching the two of you baking cookies! I would love to taste some of those cookies!
Thank you!❤
According to captions on screen Arne is making squirrels with his machine :P
😂
Adorable sweater. Love the Christmas Ball. Another great video. Arne, You're so good.
Half way there, it is getting exciting xxx
hi guys i loved today probably because i am a cook i love how much fun you have it was nice that the dogs got a treat today can hardly wait fpr the receipes ok i will see you tomorrow
See you tomorrow!
Yes , there is always fun and exiting adventure. I love watching Arne and Carlos .
Thank you for watching!
All is fantastic, your jumpers, decorations, food, candles, so festive!!!!!
Thank you!❤
You two sound like my family - I bake and they eat it!! Loved this guys and defiantly fingers crossed that you get seven cookies in the box 🎄🧶
Thanks Dayl. I figured they would be interchangeale and that it's just the recipe that differs.
❤
I made your brown stick cookies and I had to quickly freeze a tin of them before they were all eaten 🥰
Love these festive advent series they really get us into the spirit of Christmas - I also made your biscotti recipe and it turned out delicious !
I have four types baked so far and my gingerbread dough is in the fridge - thinking I will have seven varieties soon .
Thanks for the inspiration 🥰
You have been busy!
To much sugar affects your memory and causes cravings that leads to cookies magically disappearing
My Mum said that there are no failures when you cook just opportunities if you put your creativity to work!
Those wreaths are arms holding the love you put into their creation
You are right you put in enough flour until the batter looks right.
My mother taught me to make bread using her Dutch oven no measuring implements just scoops and hands I had to find a recipe when I moved out as she kept her Dutch oven. The rivets were the clue to how much liquid and fat. Fill the water to the bottom of the rivet and then enough fat to cover the rivets.
I enjoyed watching the “chaos “ ooops wrong word?🤷🏼♀️😘💞😘💞🌟🤩🌟💝🌟👍👍👍🌟💝🌟🖖🖖🖖🌟💖🙋🏼♀️💖🌟
Your mother was a wise woman!
Jeg kan næsten dufte småkagerne igennem skærmen! 🌟✨⭐️
😍
I love Faultey Towers too!!
I soooo love watching these videos! I even wrote down Arne’s mom’s recipe and then went to buy a Krumkake! You two make the little things look so enjoyable and it always reminds me to just slow down and enjoy the moment. By the way, I finished making the hanging loop on TWO Tomte Christmas stockings while watching this video! I’ll post pictures when I block them.
I am a slow knitter, so my advent jumpers wont be ready until next Christmas! So, I made the Berlin wreaths and they are delicious. I now have ONE cookie in the box! Brown sticks are next. Love your pod casts. I feel like I get to take a quick trip to Norway when I "visit" you. Also, we yell "Moose" whenever our dogs bark now. And, believe me, there are no moose in our neighborhood. Have a great holiday and thanks for the fun.
Well done!
My mom used to crush sugar cubes as a substitute. She whipped the egg whites until a bit frothy and dipped the berlinerkranze into the egg whites and then the crushed cubes and then placed on the sheet to bake. So yummy
Clever
Thank you guys ...for such an amazing cooking tutorial.
It was fun , I felt I was there cooking with you guys .
Arne you are a pro now.
Blessings 🥰💞💞💞💖💯💯
Making salmon soup while I watch. Wish I could have a taste! Looks delish.
Love all your cookies! Your episodes are the best, brings me closer to my Swedish grandmother!
❤
I would have been screaming too Carlos. I understand completely. I have a terrible fear of fire. Very bad experiences from childhood that one simply doesn't forget. And Carlos, you're right, Fawlty Towers is the best comedy ever made. Absolutely hysterical! Thanks for all these great cookie recipes and I really want to try Arne's mother's recipe. Italians make something somewhat similar. also made in a cast iron maker, looks very similar to the Krumkaka iron, but it's called a Pizzella iron. The cookies look very Krumkaka, except we don't roll the cookies. Pizzella are cooked and left flat, like Pizza :-)
Thank you for sharing Rita!
Great episode full of fun. It is lovely to use the traditional family recipes. The recipe that I use for my Christmas cake is the one used by my Mother. 🇬🇧
You both make my day . Thank you ps we had a wind storm last night very scary. But no tree 🌲 down or roofs .
We are glad you are safe!
I'm all set to do my own Krumkake cookies. Yes, Amazon delivered the Krumkake iron, I printed out your recipes, and after watching the process I feel ready to go into production. Thank you both for sharing the whole process. It makes a great difference. A special thanks to Arne for all the detailed views and comments on the thickness of the batter, how buttered the iron was, and just how brown the krumkake should be. I'll be sure to seal the tips the way he did, too. Thanks again and happy holidays!
Always fun to watch you both cooking!
Thank you!❤
It is so generous of you to share your mother's recipe!! Thank you!💖
You are welcome!
I Seriously must go back and watch Arne's Gingerbread Video!
❤️🧶👵🧶❤️
You have to!
Your cookie baking is making my mouth water! You will be master baker by the end of Advent. Thank you as always for sharing the holidays with us.
Thank you for joining!
We tried the BERLINERKRANSER last weekend. My husband says they are VERY GOOD! He says, yes they do melt in your mouth. Thank you for sharing your recipe!
Another great baking Sunday day😊. Thank you, lots of fun!
You are welcome!
The brown sticks were so tasty they only lasted a few days in our house!
And the bonus was the fact they work with gluten free flour too 😋
That keeps happening!
I’m so glad I’m not the only one who eats the cookies after they are put in the box! 😂 Your weekly advent videos are so inspiring, I want to bake after I watch each week. You guys make such a good team and work together so well! I love seeing Arne’s joy when he makes that perfect cookie. 🤗
Oooooohhhhh-those wreaths look delicious!
❤️
Arne, I don't make popcorn on the stovetop anymore. I put the kernels in a paper bag, fold the end and put it in the microwave. Then you have wonderful air popped popcorn!
Arne you are expert on eating cakes and 🍪 biscuits ha! Ha! Xx 😘
Good idea Arne! Eat them! Let’s hope the cookies make it till Christmas! I agree I’ve had that much Lebkuchen chocolate biscuits won’t want any at Christmas ha! Ha! Arne you are so much fun! Xx 😘🤣🎄
Love watching you make cookies.
Thank you!❤
You make me want to bake. Next week I will make cookies with one of my grandsons. Love to watch the 2 of you plus Fraema.
Have fun!
Byeeeeeee 😋😋😋
Bye Karen!
What a fun podcast, Thank you
Again Thankyou love you guys
You are welcome!
Oh you guys put a big smile on my face...Thank you! I have been working all weekend in the COVID 19 unit which is exhausting. Thank you for making me laugh out loud! The cookies look so GOOD!
Thank you!❤
Arne’s apron strap needs a major adjustment. We don ‘t want cookie mix all over his gorgeous sweater. Watching you make cookies is so fun, Have you heard of snickerdoodles. So yummy, as are all cookies. Great job guys,
Totally agree with Arne about the tablespoons. I have one of my grandmother’s that I use because I have used measuring spoons and find that the recipes don’t work as well! 👍🏻
You both work so well together...Carlos your Virgo comes out abit..me being one....i notice ...love you guys.
See you tomorrow 😍
See you!
I love this episode! What a wonderful feeling in your house! You are wonderful
Thank you!❤
Yes, Arne. My grandma's recipe says 1 tablespoon of batter.
👍
Loving the Winter Scene in the Kitchen Window!
❤️🧶👵🧶❤️
Thank you!❤
Oh my goodness, I enjoyed your baking so much. Wanted to jump in the video and help. Lol
The cookies turned out great. Arne figured out the amount for the cone cookie. I saw the light bulb off. Aha, that’s what grandma used, a spoon. 😆😆 ❤️
I saw the light bulb go off as in aha, that’s it. Had to correct my self lol
😊
First, I love your festive shirts! Both are so fun! I started laughing when Arne was sampling his cookie!
Cheryl
Hi Cheryl!
