A few tips that I learned from my Mom about cookies, eat before you bake so you are full and there will be cookies left for packing. Once you pack a box tie it with ribbon so you won’t open and eat them. When making melt in your mouth cookies have a bowl of ice water near you. Dip your hands in the ice water so the heat of your hands won’t melt the butter in the recipe, that way the butter melts in the oven leaving air in the cookie. Lastly, make sure that your grill has a green light and is warm enough to cook your cookies and heat will stay consistent so you can trust a timer and they won’t burn or darken too much. A red light means it is not up to the temperature that you set. You also won’t have to keep turning the heat up. Close the lid when moulding your cookies around the form or wait for the green light again. It was a pleasure to see old recipes become awesome cookies again! Merry Christmas to the both of you.🎄
Those are good tips! One more: I’ve started making the doughs over the last couple of weeks before Christmas and putting them in the freezer. Then I just get out what I’m ready to bake in one day. That way they’re all fresh when I give them and the ones you roll are actually easier to roll when the dough is super cold…but mostly, it helps keep too many of them from being eaten!
Oh Arne...I have been married to a Virgo for over 30 yrs now...I am a Pisces so has been challenging at times but the best thing to ever happen to me...Pisces need Virgos in thier lives. Opposites attract so they say.🥰 love watching the both of you interact and enjoy whatever you are making...I think you two need to have a cooking show, Sharon 😍
My mom used the palm of her hand to do her measuring all dry ingredients, or her fingers for like salt, pepper, etc. for like lard or oil she used the size of spoon that you showed. I never saw her use measuring utensils ever. She was the best cook that I've ever known and she learned from her step mom, her mom died when she was 8 years old. Those two women were my inspiration in my life. I will always aspire to be like them.
Arne and Carlos, you both never seize to amaze me......the humor is the best it certainly helps to pick up one’s spirit. You both will need to take a rest after this “workout”.......greetings from across the ocean........mc
It is always fun to hang out in your kitchen and see how you bake your fabulous cookies! This is a difficult time of year to be health-conscious! I love that watching you is low-calorie!
Watching the two of you comment on each other's cooking and sampling just baked cookies is like visiting with friends. Thank you for the enjoyment you provide.
Absolutely incredible festive sweaters !! So good to see your smiling faces. It's a wonderful day when I get to watch you both in the kitchen. Like an adventure mystery, wrought with dangers at every turn :)...
I loved Arne's excitement over recreating his mom's cookies. Carlos's cookies looked marvelous. I am enjoying the sweaters and their matching balls. Thank you for bringing joy, love and happiness into my life daily. I can't wait to see tomorrow's sweater and ball.
Loved the episode. My husband and I were watching, and we were laughing because whenever we bake cookies it becomes a bit of an eating fest as well. Carlos, when you mentioned Fawlty Towers, well I was positive then that you were a kindred spirit - best comedy ever! Enjoy your cookies 💕
The Cookie Monster must live at your house! Lol! Losing battle? At least you’re both good at baking. I’m enjoying your advent baking a lot. Happy Advent!
Arne - your mother's krumkake recipe is phenomenal - best I've ever had - so thin and crisp - I tried the 2nd Advent krumkake recipe and like you I found it tasty but thick. So happy that you shared one of your family treasures with us. Love spending my Sunday afternoons "baking with you"!
Arne, I have so many of my mom’s recipes written in her hand and it makes me feel that she is near when I cook from them. Thank you, guys, for inviting us into your kitchen for Advent baking. ❤️❤️
We were mesmerized when watching a gentleman make krumkake in old town Sweden. As always, thanks for the inspiration. I’m going to have to put those kitchen tools back on my wish list this year!🕯👩🏼🍳❤️🍪🥛
I can taste those Berliner Kranser! When I was little it was my job to roll the "pencils" and form the wreaths and I was better at it than my mother. I don't dare bake them now because I will eat them all. They really do melt in your mouth. Love these Sunday episodes!
I still use my grandmother's Krumkaka iron, it sits on the stove over the flame to cook. Tricky but works well. My Norwegian grandmother used a spoon to put the batter on the iron, and used a flat knife to take it off and roll onto the dowel.
I made your brown stick cookies and I had to quickly freeze a tin of them before they were all eaten 🥰 Love these festive advent series they really get us into the spirit of Christmas - I also made your biscotti recipe and it turned out delicious ! I have four types baked so far and my gingerbread dough is in the fridge - thinking I will have seven varieties soon . Thanks for the inspiration 🥰
Crum Kaka are my very favorite Anberlin reeds are my second favorite Norwegian cookies. I have been making krumkaka for as long as I can remember and I am 82. I've never made them with potatoes in them. That sounds very good I will try it. I make mine on the stove with an iron like you showed. When I would take my children to my Norwegian Auntie she would just put together the cookies right in the instant if she didn't have them made and she had a wood burning stove period such good memories
I love watching the 2 of you baking Christmas cookies. I have your videos playing while I bake my grandmother’s Swedish cookie recipes. It’s just not the holidays without homemade goodies!
I am a slow knitter, so my advent jumpers wont be ready until next Christmas! So, I made the Berlin wreaths and they are delicious. I now have ONE cookie in the box! Brown sticks are next. Love your pod casts. I feel like I get to take a quick trip to Norway when I "visit" you. Also, we yell "Moose" whenever our dogs bark now. And, believe me, there are no moose in our neighborhood. Have a great holiday and thanks for the fun.
Ha! Ha! Arne is enjoying cooking and eating! So naughty but fun! Love to watch you guys bake and cook! Love the Woden candle holders with red candles! I like older style things like Arne and I’m think I’m as naughty as him ha! Ha! Now I want to bake cookies but I’ll eat them all myself! Thank you as always ! Happy baking ! Xx 🎄🎅🏻😘🇬🇧
Your sweatshirts are wonderful, and so was the baking. Can I say that I love the collection of chicken prints in your kitchen? Ditto the tea tins. Thanks for these awesome episodes.
A little bit of brown means the Krumkake will be crisp. Best to have a hot iron and check for just turning brown on edges! Love watching you two work together💕
I soooo love watching these videos! I even wrote down Arne’s mom’s recipe and then went to buy a Krumkake! You two make the little things look so enjoyable and it always reminds me to just slow down and enjoy the moment. By the way, I finished making the hanging loop on TWO Tomte Christmas stockings while watching this video! I’ll post pictures when I block them.
We tried the BERLINERKRANSER last weekend. My husband says they are VERY GOOD! He says, yes they do melt in your mouth. Thank you for sharing your recipe!
I’m so glad I’m not the only one who eats the cookies after they are put in the box! 😂 Your weekly advent videos are so inspiring, I want to bake after I watch each week. You guys make such a good team and work together so well! I love seeing Arne’s joy when he makes that perfect cookie. 🤗
I'm all set to do my own Krumkake cookies. Yes, Amazon delivered the Krumkake iron, I printed out your recipes, and after watching the process I feel ready to go into production. Thank you both for sharing the whole process. It makes a great difference. A special thanks to Arne for all the detailed views and comments on the thickness of the batter, how buttered the iron was, and just how brown the krumkake should be. I'll be sure to seal the tips the way he did, too. Thanks again and happy holidays!
Great cooking and very festive outfits! Thank you for sharing! Cooking is always an adventure and nothing is perfect. We could see the cookies are delicious!!!
Thank you guys ...for such an amazing cooking tutorial. It was fun , I felt I was there cooking with you guys . Arne you are a pro now. Blessings 🥰💞💞💞💖💯💯
Oh my goodness - the memories these podcasts bring! I still make my great grandmother’s Berlinerkranser recipe. I don’t know many that make them so to see this is the best. I really know they are authentic. 👍❤️
Great episode full of fun. It is lovely to use the traditional family recipes. The recipe that I use for my Christmas cake is the one used by my Mother. 🇬🇧
Thank you for another amazing episode! I sat and knitted on my Christmas balls and enjoyed a hot apple cider. I was so happy to see you share your Moms recipe......what a wonderful way to honor her memory. I am definitely gonna give them a try once I get the gadget to cook them in. I like to think your Mom will be thrilled with people making her recipe all over the world. I am sharing my Moms potato salad recipe with friends and family this year. In our home it wouldn't be Christmas Eve without my Moms potato salad. Thank you for all you do and share with us............. you have no idea how much some of us look forward to these episodes! Wishing you both the very best of the season from Ontario, Canada!
Totally agree with Arne about the tablespoons. I have one of my grandmother’s that I use because I have used measuring spoons and find that the recipes don’t work as well! 👍🏻
I would have been screaming too Carlos. I understand completely. I have a terrible fear of fire. Very bad experiences from childhood that one simply doesn't forget. And Carlos, you're right, Fawlty Towers is the best comedy ever made. Absolutely hysterical! Thanks for all these great cookie recipes and I really want to try Arne's mother's recipe. Italians make something somewhat similar. also made in a cast iron maker, looks very similar to the Krumkaka iron, but it's called a Pizzella iron. The cookies look very Krumkaka, except we don't roll the cookies. Pizzella are cooked and left flat, like Pizza :-)
I laughed when Arne enthusiastically pushed his sleeves up to finish mixing the cookie dough 😆 thanks for another entertaining episode. All the baked goods look delicious!
My mom used to crush sugar cubes as a substitute. She whipped the egg whites until a bit frothy and dipped the berlinerkranze into the egg whites and then the crushed cubes and then placed on the sheet to bake. So yummy
Oh my goodness, I enjoyed your baking so much. Wanted to jump in the video and help. Lol The cookies turned out great. Arne figured out the amount for the cone cookie. I saw the light bulb off. Aha, that’s what grandma used, a spoon. 😆😆 ❤️
Love watching you bake all the Christmas goodies. I promised my grandson peanut butter fudge this year, but I'm not baking any cookies. Hugs to sweet Freja and Helmer! ❤😘
Oh you guys put a big smile on my face...Thank you! I have been working all weekend in the COVID 19 unit which is exhausting. Thank you for making me laugh out loud! The cookies look so GOOD!
Arne’s apron strap needs a major adjustment. We don ‘t want cookie mix all over his gorgeous sweater. Watching you make cookies is so fun, Have you heard of snickerdoodles. So yummy, as are all cookies. Great job guys,
Thank you Arne & Carlos for sharing Arne’s mom’s recipe. “It goes in the box.” Your cookie baking adventure is fun because as seasonal bakers we forget or are out of rhythm with the details of certain recipes. So, seeing your trials and yummy errors makes it genuine. Merry Christmas!🎄
You've inspired me. I wasn't planning to make any cookies this year - dealing w/"pandemic pounds" as it is. However, I've decided to make some spritz cookies with my daughters so we have some homemade treats. And those cookies are small, and we can make them different flavors, colors, and shapes. Thank you for that. Happy Holidays!
You two are so cute cooking together. It does make me hungry for those cookies. I had them in my childhood although my mother who was Norwegian didn’t make them. But other of her family members did. I just might have to give it a try. I’m looking forward to seeing what other ones you’ll make.
I have really enjoyed this Advent series. Thank you for sharing. I think we all have Faulty Towers moments in our lives. Thanks for sharing the Christmas cheer! Much love to y’all from Florida (while it has snowed on occasion, it never lasts🤗). ☃️🔔🎄
To much sugar affects your memory and causes cravings that leads to cookies magically disappearing My Mum said that there are no failures when you cook just opportunities if you put your creativity to work! Those wreaths are arms holding the love you put into their creation You are right you put in enough flour until the batter looks right. My mother taught me to make bread using her Dutch oven no measuring implements just scoops and hands I had to find a recipe when I moved out as she kept her Dutch oven. The rivets were the clue to how much liquid and fat. Fill the water to the bottom of the rivet and then enough fat to cover the rivets. I enjoyed watching the “chaos “ ooops wrong word?🤷🏼♀️😘💞😘💞🌟🤩🌟💝🌟👍👍👍🌟💝🌟🖖🖖🖖🌟💖🙋🏼♀️💖🌟
I love watching you bake your Christmas cookies. It has inspired me to look through my mothers old recipe box. I have found a few recipes that seem like they will be nice Christmas cookies. The ones I baked this week were with cherries. The red cherries make them seem very Christmassy
Love to watch your baking videos! So much fun to see how your cookies turn out and love to see Arne's reaction when the cookies are perfect. 😃 We are going to try the BERLINERKRANSER next weekend. So nice that the dogs were included in the advent. Thank you for sharing.
hi guys i loved today probably because i am a cook i love how much fun you have it was nice that the dogs got a treat today can hardly wait fpr the receipes ok i will see you tomorrow
I’m enjoying brune pinner (your recipe) with my coffee as I watch you two baking more treats. Your videos are so delightful, and I feel that I’ve received a Christmas gift early, as I just discovered you on RUclips on the first Sunday in Advent this year. Thank you for helping me to bring in Christmas well!
Thanks so much for these episodes. You are bringing back many pleasant memories of making Christmas cookies as a family and really brighten my day. It is a nice tradition. They look scrumptious! I wouldn't be able to keep from eating them ahead either. :) Looking forward to your next reveal tomorrow.

My favorite comment this time was “put your cookie where your mouth is” ! Priceless cooking lessons. Keep up the good work. Thanks!
Wow! Talk about a spotless uncluttered kitchen! Amazing!

I love to watch you make cookies. And talk about everything and anything. I’m headed to my friends house to craft and maybe bake !

Enjoying this Sunday of baking. You have to let the pan get hot again, by closing the top. You can’t be in too much of a hurry.
Thank you!❤
Arne, I have so many of my mom’s recipes written in her hand and it makes me feel that she is near when I cook from them. Thank you, guys, for inviting us into your kitchen for Advent baking. ❤️❤️

A little chef's trip for everyone....if you lay a damp tea towel under your chopping board it doesn't slip.
Thank you for delicious recipes!
Thank you!😊

I saw the light bulb go off as in aha, that’s it. Had to correct my self lol

Making salmon soup while I watch. Wish I could have a taste! Looks delish.

You two are so cute cooking together. It does make me hungry for those cookies. I had them in my childhood although my mother who was Norwegian didn’t make them. But other of her family members did. I just might have to give it a try. I’m looking forward to seeing what other ones you’ll make.
You should!
I have really enjoyed this Advent series. Thank you for sharing. I think we all have Faulty Towers moments in our lives. Thanks for sharing the Christmas cheer! Much love to y’all from Florida (while it has snowed on occasion, it never lasts🤗). ☃️🔔🎄
Thank you!❤
To much sugar affects your memory and causes cravings that leads to cookies magically disappearing
My Mum said that there are no failures when you cook just opportunities if you put your creativity to work!
Those wreaths are arms holding the love you put into their creation
You are right you put in enough flour until the batter looks right.
Your mother was a wise woman!
All I have to say about this episode is “Basil!” Carlos will fully understand.. lol!
😂
I love watching you bake your Christmas cookies. It has inspired me to look through my mothers old recipe box. I have found a few recipes that seem like they will be nice Christmas cookies. The ones I baked this week were with cherries. The red cherries make them seem very Christmassy
They sound nice
Love to watch your baking videos! So much fun to see how your cookies turn out and love to see Arne's reaction when the cookies are perfect. 😃 We are going to try the BERLINERKRANSER next weekend. So nice that the dogs were included in the advent. Thank you for sharing.

See you!
Hi Arne and Carlos, thank you for a wonderful video. I understand your memory problems, I'm in the same age bracket. Hope you have a lovely holiday!
