The fp sensor on the back is much more reliable. I'm a painter and even when my fingers weren't totally clean it still recognized my print. The under screen sensors aren't great no matter who makes them. Never seen a phone reviewer with dirty hands so I don't expect them to say as much

Just ordered 5a, i don't like the bulge in the 6 and don't like android 12 after trying it. 5a can be flashed with android 11 and costs 50% less that the 6, and it has great battery capacity with great camera. It's strange that everything looks so much rounded in latest Google's os but their latest phone is square.
Pixel 5a is a better choice because: 1. Better battery life 2. Metal build 3. 3.5 mm headphone jack 4. Lower price 5. Faster and better positioned dinner print sensor 6. Rounded corners look better to my taste
Got the Pixel 5a and the 6 recently to do the same comparison. Tough choice because the 5A is a great deal right now, and I really like the build with rounded edges and just less WEIGHT in the 5a vs. the bulky glass 6. However, the Tensor chip and software updates and improvements make the 6 an overall better investment. BTW, were you at Eastview Mall for your sample photos ?? I worked there back in highschool.
I noticed Eastview myself. Never worked there, but definitely spent a lot of time there. To keep things relevant, I just bought the 5a based on this comparison. I really like the 6, but the price on the 5a is $350 for Black Friday, making it hard to pass up. I'll wait to see where Google goes with Tensor before I jump in.
Based on all the bug reports in early 2022, especially with Android 12, I'd say the Pixel 5A is definitely the better choice. Apparently, Android 12 and its updates are causing multiple problems with the Pixel 6 and 6 Pro, but not the 5a.

I love my pixel 6. Even tried iPhone 13 and decided the pixel 6 has similar battery life but takes way better photos. 5A seems like a great option for folks who don't care about the latest and greatest(wireless charging, 90 hz) and want a reliable phone.
I don't get the issues that others speak about. I've had my P6 for a couple of weeks and after the recent update, it's been running flawlessly and has been a joy to use. The fingerprint has been fine and the battery life has been amazing. I'm averaging 8-9 hrs sot.
Watching this on my pixel 6. I haven't stumbled up on any battery issues so far. It lasts me all day with around 30%before charging at night(mine is a pre ordered unit from Canada). The only issue I faced was when i applied a screen guard, the fingerprint was working only 1/10. So I had to peel it off. And everything else about this phone is super awesome.
I haven't had any issues.. I had the 6prp and returned it bc it's honestly not much better than the 5a.. it would get hot too.. it's only better in a few areas.. 1)speed, even though it's not that noticeable 2) night site. 3) telephoto lense.. Other than that I prefer almost everything else on the 5a. I feel like the 5a takes better still shots and portraits

I agree with u on the battery life of the pixel 6 such a disappointment. Everytime i check the battery usage, the one that use up the most battery was the mobile network. I don't even have 5g on.
I got the p5a, it's a good phone for $400. The 90hz refresh rate will eat up a lot more power on the p6, but at least the phone is pretty to look at when the battery dies.

Its my first time to have a pixel phone with 5a and i would say, it is really one of the best phones i have ever had. No wonder why it is quite expensive but the experience is superb. You will never regret it.
I feel like you kind of just picked pixel 6 by default, based on specs alone, which is not the same as what's the best buy. You said it yourself that these days, most of the improvements are incremental. This is the first time I am trying to figure out how little I can spend on a phone as opposed to what's the nicest phone, because they aren't that exciting anymore.
Qualcomm are the real bastards in terms of how long people hold onto their phones. They stop releasing drivers or security fixes after a certain point which means end of support for any device using their SoCs. It's time for Apple, Google and Samsung to teach them a lesson when it comes to long term support.
Have a P6 had it a few days moving from the P5- really a nicer phone overall from the P5. Premium build and if you have bigger hands the P6 feels better in my hands, coming from someone who smoked a P3xl for a couple of years. 5 years of monthly security updates and 3 years of OS, this phone is going to be with me for years.

I have a 6 and 3a and tbh, the 3a has about the same picture quality (sometimes even better) because it offers HDR+. I've taken side by side photos and they are so similar. I'm actually thinking about returning the six and keeping my 3A because of the reliable fingerprint scanner on the back and footprint. I'm actually using the 3A right now running Android 12 at everything runs really smooth.
Did you have any issues using headphones? Every time I put my headphones in via the headphone jack it's turning black, not sure if it could be android 12 update related
My 3a has been having some issues, which is why I'm watching this video. Weird circle on the screen when i do fingerprint scanning. Random pauses when I'm listening to music or watching videos. UI freezes randomly. And it's started randomly calling people. All this after Android 12. I love pixels in general, leaning towards 5a right now and really hoping these are fixed.
@@amberburch152 agree with you on a few things. The lag between certain apps are somewhat noticeable and sometimes a screen goes blank and stays that way until I close out and reopen the app. What I still love overall is the form factor and camera (photos).
Has your 5a overheated at any point? Mine would do from playing Pokémon Go at night, and various gaming would do this. That and the screen would have a green tint in grey backgrounds. I'm tempted to try again with the 5a as it has a lot of what I want in a phone and there are perfectly fine 5a units out there. My first one was just a bust.

I like both. I've the 5a 5g for one reason. Battery life. It's very important for me. My phone is my office and wondering if my phone will make it through the day is a big deal. Secondly, durabilty. I prefer the rear finger print sensor. My summary of the 5a is it's not the very best in all areas but does well in all areas. But the battery life is a big bonus. I still say . . . if you want an affordable phone and an "all arounder", it's my recommendation!

I was ready to buy the 5a but then read the under glass speaker was awful and ruined the audio experience and phone calls

The most important thing to me is battery life. I work outside. And the cameras aren't that far off. Pixel 5a for my needs.

I use 60 Hz on my 6 pro. It helps with battery life.

Remember, widgets hurt battery life, and when you "break in a new phone and battery", the battery adapts to your use.
