To say the croghans were going to go extinct because of the genofage is not being completely honest. More than made it explicitly clear that the Jenna fage wasn't a sterility virus it was a population control virus which meant that it would change itself to allow for more or less births depending on their population rate krogan's were killing themselves off culturally

Despite Mass Effect Andromeda characters calling Drack an old man for being 1400 Earth years old, he's not even the oldest Krogan we've met. Warlord Okere taught Grunt about the Rachni and told him they are a worthy foe. The only time a Krogan ever respects another opponent is if they have fought them first hand or seen them in action. It's possible Warlord Okere was alive and fought in the Rachni wars which would have made him close to 2100 Earth years old before he died.

Krogan are smart. But with their aggression being lowered they may see it as barbaric but still have the choice to become mercenaries and soldiers and what not.
One of the things I can't stand about Mass Effect 3 is that it was so simplistic, it reduced the most morally gray issue in all of Mass Effect (that being the genophage) to something black and white! As much as I love the Krogan and Wrex, I can't help but think the Genophage was the right call. It is an awful, unethical solution to an awful and unethical problem. Without Wrex, the Krogan will immediately go on a revenge crusade against the galaxy.
The problem is we're given two extreme solutions. The genophage results in 1/1000 live young, this results in a shrinking population for the Krogan and eventual extinction, while the natural 1000 young per female is clearly unsustainable and would result in war, followed by famine and extinction on a galactic scale. Tweeking the genophage so Krogan females have more offspring than the 1/1000, but not the full 1000 would make the most sense.

Toad like! If I was a Krogan I’d head but you for calling the coolest race in Mass effect that. I always thought they looked more like reptilian bison humanoids.
The krogan needed to be humbled by the genophage, but it should have been dialed back later on. But they need a leader like Wrex for that to be feasible. Krogan need to seriously rethink their warlike culture
@burnttoast26 And the genophage did that. Wrex earned the Krogan a second chance and the end of the reaper war gives them this chance. The problem that arises is now that the reapers are dead and civilizations have been hit hard, how will colonization move forward during rebuilding? Krogan power plays might welcome a new genophage.
I'm a big lore junkie and I remember in ME3 when it came up about curing the genophage on my first playthrough I was immediately like, nah that's a horrible fucking idea. Love you Wrex and Grunt but if someone assassinates y'all I'd be dooming the galaxy.
On the question of the unified Krogan clans threatening the galaxy once again, it depends on who's supreme overlord. If it's Wreav, then yeah, the Krogan will threaten the galaxy once more, but if it's his more level headed brother Wrex, then they'll be kept in check. If Eve dies, then Wreav wouldn't have anything keeping his ambitions from coming to fruition, but if she survives, Wrex would be able to rally other clans under the banner of Clan Urdnot, but this is determined which one is clan chief of Urdnot.
I don't think it has been stated but was the cure to the genophage a full restoration of the Krogans reproductive cycle or was it improved to a higher level but not the levels seen in the past?
The krogan need leaders like Wrex to keep them on a leash, otherwise the rebellions would happen again and the genophage would be necessary again. The krogan didn't learn from the genophage and everyone screaming at them to stop being stupid and self-destructive, and they actively refuse to rebuild. Unless Wrex can change their culture and quell their ambition, the genophage should stay in place, albeit maybe lighter.
It depends on the ending, I think that with the destruction ending they could grow out of "control" same with control ending, with the synthesis ending however I'm thinking that the genetic changes that occurred could stabilise their birthrate to a viable level
Nope. Krogan had it coming and frankly they shouldn't have forced curing the Genophage as the right thing to do. Wrex being an exception to the rule is not a good sign of a species that can't be bothered to only have one child a year.
What did he get wrong? I'm not trying to jab at you, this is a genuine question. I'm only just now getting into the series, so I genuinely don't know. Edit: Just saw that you posted this 7 months ago, so I'm not expecting you to remember. Sorry bout that!
Yeah I know we all love Wrex and Grunt, I do anyway, but really the Genophage was really too light of a countermeasure, the realistic solution for dealing with a species THAT set on being aggressive bullies, you either completely subjugate the whole species and keep them on a very tight leash, or you exterminate the entire population. Personally, id have harvested tons and tons of genetic components from all the strongest ones and used it to create some Krogan-android/cyborg things that could be used to defend against threats like the reapers.
Really? Remember what they did with thw Witcher? MassEffect has amazing potential for awesome series and movies but not now. Hollywood is out of line. They would just tarnish this great IP with hack-writers and activists. But one day we may see something great...

Unpopular opinion: The Krogan deserved the Genophage.
The orks deserve it more, saying otherwise is more heretical, Guardsmen!
making 3 Turian worlds uninhabitable? Yeah they did tbh
Basically they're like mandalorians but alien like
Great video as always matey! And congrats on the 50k subs!
Are going to continue mass effect lore videos Playlist?
Yes I am. Just trying to pick a topic to cover next for it
@@WiseFish thanks for the response 🙂👍
Wouldn't it be... Tuchanka-shakes
Report to the ship as soon as possible-
oooh ! lore time !
A tragic Warrior race.
GREAT VID.🐱
if u wanna know what Tuchanka looks like, go to Mars
If my information is correct, the salarian found the rachnni 1st, then the "uplifting" of the krogan. Then the genophage.
They suck
Awesome
Yes!! More Mass Effect! 😁
I would love to hear the lore of NieR: Automata.
BATTLE TOADS!!!!
The salarian made a mistake but the krogan made a bigger mistake provoking the war.
A good bug is a dead bug.
Starship Troopers and Krogan would get along really well until there are no bugs left.
Kroger rebellions of 2013
Krogans are the russians of ME
Nice comment.
Let’s goooooo
the genophage must be upheld, even if it means sacrificing friends
krogans won't ever learn
The krogan need leaders like Wrex to keep them on a leash, otherwise the rebellions would happen again and the genophage would be necessary again. The krogan didn't learn from the genophage and everyone screaming at them to stop being stupid and self-destructive, and they actively refuse to rebuild. Unless Wrex can change their culture and quell their ambition, the genophage should stay in place, albeit maybe lighter.
aka, the Blacks
Shepard helping heal the Krogan seems like a very grave mistake that will result in the extinction of humanity.
It depends on the ending, I think that with the destruction ending they could grow out of "control" same with control ending, with the synthesis ending however I'm thinking that the genetic changes that occurred could stabilise their birthrate to a viable level
So the Salarians (& Asari) are the bad guys. Not Racchni or Krogans
Put you had the push it too far Krogan
Nope. Krogan had it coming and frankly they shouldn't have forced curing the Genophage as the right thing to do. Wrex being an exception to the rule is not a good sign of a species that can't be bothered to only have one child a year.
spooky 666th
Are you deliberately spreading misinformation? Or are you just so bad at reading comprehension, that somehow you MIS-READ the lore?
What did he get wrong? I'm not trying to jab at you, this is a genuine question. I'm only just now getting into the series, so I genuinely don't know.
Edit: Just saw that you posted this 7 months ago, so I'm not expecting you to remember. Sorry bout that!
All Krogans
Should be forced to marry asari and the problem would be solved
Wouldn't that just make more Asari?
Yeah I know we all love Wrex and Grunt, I do anyway, but really the Genophage was really too light of a countermeasure, the realistic solution for dealing with a species THAT set on being aggressive bullies, you either completely subjugate the whole species and keep them on a very tight leash, or you exterminate the entire population. Personally, id have harvested tons and tons of genetic components from all the strongest ones and used it to create some Krogan-android/cyborg things that could be used to defend against threats like the reapers.
Freak
Africans culture in space
Imagine how good a Netflix show this IP would make?
Really?
Remember what they did with thw Witcher?
MassEffect has amazing potential for awesome series and movies but not now. Hollywood is out of line. They would just tarnish this great IP with hack-writers and activists.
But one day we may see something great...
@@arminxvs3372activists lmao. Online politics broke your brain
@@TheGreatestJediOfAllTime Please explain? You say that NO activism is to be seen in modern media?
