I did my own 48re recently definitely much easier than I expected. I used the ATSG a lot but Horsetorques diesel has a really good youtube video assembling a 48re that I referenced a lot. It was a slow process though, I put my OD piston support on 180 out the first time and it wouldn't shift. Definitely don't do that.

Yeah it wasn’t all that bad. Took me about 45 min total. Just went slow. I’ve been watching Logan built YT channel. I’ve prolly watched his build series 30 times already.

after seeing this i'll continue to have a shop do mine, i'm pretty mechanical, but man all those damn parts petrify me lol. I don't think i could get it all back together

How many hours do you have into it at this point?

The rebuild, probably about 7-8 hours. Not including removal.
