I love the idea of the silk scarves used to make a dress as well as the curtains. It sure turned out stunning. Curtin fabric has always been a great option for dress making simply because the fabrics came in wider bolts compared to dress making fabrics, and because of this it made it very cost effective. Back in the 80’s Princess Diana’s style was all the rage gypsy style tops, and lace for clothing was a blooming small fortune back in the day, so net curtains were suddenly very popular for making lace tops, to make them wearable I used velvet ribbons on all the seams which made it softer to wear against the skin, plus it gave it a nice professional finish. The best part was because they were curtin fabric they were a heck of a lot wider than the dress lace so one meter of fabric for double bay windows was more than enough to make 2 tops lol as it was 3 meters wide😹😹😹
I love how you used the cut off piece of the front scarf to be a piece draped across the back. The tabard is beautiful, I want to make one myself! Using scarves with different patterns actually makes your tabard more unique.
Using the scarves is actually genius! I love the way the tassels hang off the back piece! This definitely looks like you're residing over some fae high court.
I didn't love the original dresses (at least on the mannequins) but seeing a version on your body I absolutely understand the appeal. You look absolutely stunning!
I've seen bedding/sheets turned into dresses, but never shawls. It was such a good idea, and executed in style. I can already see you pass dramatically by a couple of Victorian windows, candle in hand.
It turned out so pretty! I'm definitely inspired to try something similar. Also this might be a weard compliment but those contactlenses make you like one of those very serious, magical Kids in a Anime.
I nearly bought a Fortuny inspired dress from the 80's, a while back. I have put on weight and could not have worn it, but it was spectacular. Very plain but they had gotten the silhouette just right.
There are some gorgeous curtains out there. What a pretty dress and i have always loved a tabard. Cheers to using more curtain fabrics especially due to the width of them. Hugs
If Scarlett O'Hara taught us anything, it's that yes, curtains make very suitable gown fabric. How fabulous you look, wearing naught but curtains and scarves.
Kudos for putting a lovely dress together at the last minute with the materials you were able to gather. Great thinking outside the box! And thank you for putting in the forgetting of the collar. Some highstrung people would be tearing their hair out by the fistsfull. I think it is all magnificent! Blessed be!
I've made similar tabbert/tunics with pashmina scarves! also luxe, comfi and warm. Kimono style vest/coats too. Would love to see you make something with these pashmina scarves!
Using scarves? Genius. This tabard reminds me so much of the Nelda jacket from VORIAGH in style and color and in the fact that I want one very badly. Absolutely stunning!!
The scarves were genius, and for being a last minute addition it came out wonderfully. I know people use curtains for repurposed fabric but I would die from heatstroke I think. Curtains tend to be less than breathable. But at least it looks good! Thank you for sharing
The dress turned out nicely and suits you well. Thinking outside of the box to use fabrics for new purpose is cool. Once In a while I use curtains, scarves, chintz or sheets to create an outfit. Like you I'm very picky about how I do it. I really enjoyed your video, it made my day as I'm laid up in bed after two days of overdoing it with walking. 😊
Oh I loooooovvveeeeee!!! I also love the simplicity of this! It's so breathtaking! Also definitely utilizing the 1920's tabard... ness haha. I have a 20's gig coming up at a winery & need a costume to go with it. Tabard is calling to me!
💚🖤 I've always loved Fortuny, the over and underdress are so beautiful, and using scarfs is genius. As always I love watching you make things and I will one day take the plunge into drafting patterns rather than modifying existing ones.
Very beautiful, and a great idea to use the scarves for the tabard. It looks stunning, can't wait to see it with another underdress/slip in the future 😊
How stunning! Such an interesting design, & beautiful, rich textures. In your blue contacts, you look quite like my daughter, who also likes well-fitted, dark clothes.
you know if the colours of the scarves had been very different you could have made the tabard in to a "party" tabard. cut them down the middle and sew the two different scarves together. that was a medieval thing, they liked clashing colours and the it was used to show family ties.
I just know generally by now, but you can also measure the pattern before you buy fabric! I get 1 yard for a pencil skirt or short sleeve blouse, 2 yards for a long sleeved blouse or jacket, etc. I just know my size and always buy wide width fabrics!
making a dress from scarves and curtains, you really are in your Scarlett O'Hara era
"I saw it in the window and I just had to have it."
Let’s say she’s in her sound of music era instead although this is much lovelier than the von trapp children’s play clothes!
Bill Blass the designer came up with the curtain rod gag! It was fabulous!

looks absolutely gorgeous, can practically see you descend some dramatic spiral stairs with one of those classical candlelights 😄💖
Harvey Corman: That gown is gorgeous.
Carol Burnette: Why thank you. I saw it in the window and just couldn't resist it.
I was thinking that exact same thing!😂
@@laurensternenberg7635 that line was off the cuff. She is a comedic genius.
🥂Here's to making curtains look so good!! Love the idea of the scarves for the tabard.
Using the scarves is actually genius! I love the way the tassels hang off the back piece!
This definitely looks like you're residing over some fae high court.
Thank you Katie! It feels very regal to wear for sure ✨
This really looks like something that could be in the Shadow and Bone series!! Or maybe the Wheel of Time series. Super cool
Thank you Jackie!
Brilliant idea to use the scarves for the tabard
I didn't love the original dresses (at least on the mannequins) but seeing a version on your body I absolutely understand the appeal. You look absolutely stunning!
I would have never guessed this was two scarves and a curtain! The magic you did on this piece is amazing!
Thank you!
I adore this ensemble! The extra piece on the back of the tabard was a genius move. Love it!
Thank you Becky!

I nearly bought a Fortuny inspired dress from the 80's, a while back.
I have put on weight and could not have worn it, but it was spectacular.
Very plain but they had gotten the silhouette just right.
So simple yet so effective and sublimely decadent.
There are some gorgeous curtains out there. What a pretty dress and i have always loved a tabard. Cheers to using more curtain fabrics especially due to the width of them. Hugs
Thank you Donna!
For adjustability, you could add drawstrings down the front of the skirt, to shorten or lengthen as desired
Your look book dress is fabulous and I would wear it and suffer the sore arms just to look this fabulous 😅
If Scarlett O'Hara taught us anything, it's that yes, curtains make very suitable gown fabric. How fabulous you look, wearing naught but curtains and scarves.
What fun... with these wrap front gowns, I'm feeling inspired to make my own lounging-around-the-house-coat...
Your hair with that blouse in the intro is to ♥️. Always love the fashion history as well.

And thank you for putting in the forgetting of the collar. Some highstrung people would be tearing their hair out by the fistsfull. I think it is all magnificent! Blessed be!

The shawls were a great idea! Your clothing is magical ❤
You look so regal 👑 I think even our queen Maxima would love it😂
Love to hear you're taking a lil break. You're always working so hard and definitely in need of a good vacation.
Enjoy your time off Ms. B!! you have kept us thoroughly entertained all year!
It's striking. It went so fast i couldn't keep up so i look forward to you making it again.
That was a beautiful process to watch. I don’t care for home decor fabric as apparel fabric either but in a pinch, it works!
Cute AF! LOVE it!
I’m looking forward to seeing the day wear version in the future
🌼MG ❕Simply Gorgeous.
This IS THEE BEST gown I've witnessed you craft to date.
A True Artist at work
I've made similar tabbert/tunics with pashmina scarves! also luxe, comfi and warm. Kimono style vest/coats too. Would love to see you make something with these pashmina scarves!

Wonderful use of materials. Absolutely stunning!
Beautifully made it’s hard to believe that you made this with curtains and scarves 👌😁❤️🇬🇧
Beautifully done!
That is so beautiful very nice❤❤
love it .Can't wait to see the linen one. Most of my clothing is medieval or victorian inspired.
Incredible! I’m so inspired now 😝
Very beautiful, and a great idea to use the scarves for the tabard. It looks stunning, can't wait to see it with another underdress/slip in the future 😊

Oh my god?!?! This is the most amazing thing I’ve ever seen
Thank you!!
@@TheClosetHistorian of course!! Thank you for introducing me to this designer because now I’m obsessed and I will be drawing these pieces foreverrrrr
Very pretty 😀
Cosplayers and Rennies have been scavenging curtains for years LOL. Yards of Fabric for cheap if you get them on clearance? Yes please!
Using scarfs is like the short cut that was done for Galadriel lindon gown which used assiut scarfs for the panels.
Gorgeous!😮
Thank you!!
I have to tell you, your are a very talented young lady.
i swear you must be the most glamorous person ive ever seen
Thank you! But I promise I am part time glam, the rest of the time I am a make-up free pajama goblin ✨
When I saw this I wondered if the tabard was a scarf. The whole thing is beautiful
yass!! beautiful❤
Love the title!!!😄
Something to wear when you are feeling extra? So all the time.Stunning garment.
Have you ever done any faux fur trimmed or lined garments?
Whoa
I saw it in the window and had to have it. 😉
Very beautiful design!
Those sleeves are always in way, infortunatly 😅
No need for practicality, just elegant lounging 😂
cool outfit
How the devil did I miss this makes video????!
Speaking of which, do you have a making of video for the mermaid skirts in Arcana?
Alas I do not have a video for those particular skirts! Will do sometime!
❤❤❤

Some recent research has come out that Fortuny Wife did all the designing and creating but used her husband’s name.
I’m wondering when you draft your own pattern, how do you calculate the amount of fabric you need??
I just know generally by now, but you can also measure the pattern before you buy fabric! I get 1 yard for a pencil skirt or short sleeve blouse, 2 yards for a long sleeved blouse or jacket, etc. I just know my size and always buy wide width fabrics!
I'd be worried about the texture feeling of the curtains
Could you BE more fantastic? No. I don't think so.
Thank you!!
Watching your channel gives me butterflies 🦋🦋🦋🦋🦋. The clothes are so gorgeous I don’t have words for how it makes me feel. TMI? 🫠
