I love the idea of the silk scarves used to make a dress as well as the curtains. It sure turned out stunning. Curtin fabric has always been a great option for dress making simply because the fabrics came in wider bolts compared to dress making fabrics, and because of this it made it very cost effective.
Back in the 80’s Princess Diana’s style was all the rage gypsy style tops, and lace for clothing was a blooming small fortune back in the day, so net curtains were suddenly very popular for making lace tops, to make them wearable I used velvet ribbons on all the seams which made it softer to wear against the skin, plus it gave it a nice professional finish. The best part was because they were curtin fabric they were a heck of a lot wider than the dress lace so one meter of fabric for double bay windows was more than enough to make 2 tops lol as it was 3 meters wide😹😹😹

I love how you used the cut off piece of the front scarf to be a piece draped across the back. The tabard is beautiful, I want to make one myself! Using scarves with different patterns actually makes your tabard more unique.

I just know generally by now, but you can also measure the pattern before you buy fabric! I get 1 yard for a pencil skirt or short sleeve blouse, 2 yards for a long sleeved blouse or jacket, etc. I just know my size and always buy wide width fabrics!
