    I love your voice and calm manner of explaining things. You are a very experienced and talented sewist/ designer/ beetle embroiderer. You don’t try to make your videos overly cinematic and stimulating and instead just focus on the creative process. Your videos work both as ASMR and a great source of sewing knowledge. Please never change. 💚🪲

    really convenient timing for me to watch you discuss linings when I'm making a leather skirt and wandering what's best to line it with!

  • @nniffa393
    @nniffa393 Год назад +25

    GORGEOUS. That fabric is so lovely. When you said about no-one can tell there's another line of stitching at the front attaching the placket unless they're far too close to you - I recently started a shirt with a partial zip on the front and I was annoyed the stitching isn't perfect. My mum told me if anyone is looking that closely at my chest, I will probably have other concerns than them seeing my stitching. Namely getting away from the creep staring at my chest.

    • @TheClosetHistorian
      @TheClosetHistorian  Год назад +13

      Thank you! Yeah if people are close enough to examine your stitching they are indeed too close 😂

    The grey tone plus the shoulder detail reminds me of a pauldron, the original power shoulder. If the puff was a different colour the bodice plus sleeve cap would look like a cuirass. Well done!

    I don’t think we talk enough about just how gorgeous you are!!!
    I love what you’re doing. You’ve taught this old woman a lot!!!!!
    I taught myself how to sew and started as a child. I’ve always found patterns chaotic for me preferring to design for myself. I’ve always wanted a custom block pattern but never knew how to do it and never gave making one or modifying it a chance. It was too much like the math class that was way too above my head. You make it seem so simple. Thank you ❤️
    This bodice is very nice! It will be my inspiration for one I need to gear up for Christmas.
    Again, thank you!

    I'm glad you made it to Elfriedes! I knew her well. I first shopped in her store in 1976 when I was doing costumes for the King and I. We took tailoring classes together. She and her husband were from Germany. I loved her because she understood that you had to touch fabric. I'm sorry that the new owners went over to quilting cotton, but I'm glad they kept some high end stuff. Yay!

    Such a great job! I love it. Every time I watch you sew on your sewing machine, it makes me remember learning to sew, and really loving it. My mother had that same machine. Sadly, after We both got new machines in 1974, she gave it away to a relative. Still wish that I had it! Still sew on my "new" machine from the 70's. Have many other sewing machines, but still think how wonderful that machine was. Sews equally well on all materials, not stretch. Thick or thin. It is hard to explain how good these older machines are! I really hope that you have many fancy places to wear your fantastic wardrobe soon!
