Hey Brothgar, i worked about an hour and half to translate the video into spanish, i'm sleepy and done with it for now, i'll just sit and enjoy it. I hope you like it, i'll keep adding captions tomorrow :D
4:58, to prevent water from flowing out from between your doors and into the cold biome; you could lock that numatic door and run a ladder down and into the bottom of the tank. Making it like a scuba bell while keeping your thermal shifting. You could then do whatever you wanted with that thermal shift wall, like run metal tiles into the cold biome...
Hi Brothgar, while stripping biomes using ladder lattices, use a 4-tile gap between ladders since dupes can reach 2 tiles on either side. Also when making 'heat-proof- tiles, just make regular tiles out of Abyssalite. It itself has a thermal conductivity of 0.0000... So insulated abyssalite tiles dont matter.
Brothgar i dont know if anyone pointed this out yet since i only just watched ep8. But there we saw that hatches can actually walk on opened doors. This means you can use those closed doors as "floor" for your stables. This means you can stack all your stables on top of each other so the coal they produce falls down and only need 1 sweeper at the bottom stable. To make it so that your dupes can access the stable and the buidings dont get disabled you set the doors (for the dupes to get in and out) so they have to enter from one door and leave through another. That way you can use weight plates and a memory automation so that the doors only close once a dupe goes in there. Wait. Cancel that. Just make a time sensor that opens the doors at night. Because i think when the grooming station is disabled the dupes wont go there to tame the hatches. That will save you metal and power you can use elsewhere. Maybe that could also be used elsewhere so you can decrease the amount of sweepers needed. Anyways have a nice one and keep that content coming. I hope i can catch up in the episodes sometime soon so ill be able to see what you could do with this idea.
You could run the piping that's going to the lavatories through the steam room, and heat it up as much as you want, the excess will be destroyed. If you cooled it down a bit first it could condense water into the reservoir under the vent.
Still on part 9, just wanted to pop into a recent video to share a trick with hatches. If you remove a block, the room becomes the size of your base, so you lose the stables bonus, but since the hatches need about 12 tiles per hatch to not be overcrowded, this let's you have much more hatches in a small space without them being overcrowded. Dont know if you made any changes since episode 9 but just wanted to let you know!
Hey Brothgar! I’m not sure if you’ll see this, but I have an idea that you might like. I’ve been working on trying to create a colony that uses completely isolated groups. In my testing, I have them each doing a single task. One group for oxygen production, another for water processing, a third for food production, and a fourth for energy production. The biggest challenge was making sure everyone got enough food, but in one of your earlier videos you mentioned putting a door under the food production stations, and opening them up at night to drop the food into auto sweepers. It’s been going pretty smoothly since I got the food issue sorted out, but I’m currently considering adding a fifth group for farming so the cooks don’t have to. If anybody has any suggestions I’d love to hear them.
In the current build there should be a kind of space station up on the surface. But since you generated the map good while back you probably won't have one. Maybe look at one on a newly generated map.
I think that cool steam vents don't pass temperature of gold amalgam objects overheating. That way, you can cool steam down by basically cooling the water using liquid cooling machine in crude oil. The oil will heat up, but you can then use it to make petroleum or destroy heat in any other way.
Not sure if I'm going crazy or if they actually changed this, but I'd swear I heard brothgar say that you can delete some heat by routing the coolant water of your metal refinery through a sieve. I did this is my latest playthrough but what happens is that anything going in lower than 40, becomes 40 degrees, but anything hotter comes out at the same temperature. I made this awesome loop where my sieved water goes to cool my refinery preferentially (and otherwise to algae deox) and back around to the sieve but it just comes out as hot as it went in :(. Seems they fixed this loophole :P.
Dumb question, but why not send that steam, either directly or via radiant pipes, into that slimelung area to kill the germs? May make it super hot there, but you'd be able to use the area without exo suits.
You might have covered this, why not do the 1 exosuit to 1 dupe thing. It seemed to go well bar the locking dupes in their rooms i also think it would fit this challenge.
Why do you always use pumps and energy for loops? Just use one bridge for the flow direction and one to hook up the pump (to fill the loop). Then you can disconnect the pump and save energy. Also you can use this infinite loops to preheat or precool the medium before leaving the loop for the final destination. You can do a lot of stuff with the bridge crossroad logic (first in last out).
And one more tip. If you worry about breaking pipes during heating or cooling, use conveyor loop with metal (also works with bridges without the need of power)
Isn't the mystery water that you keep attributing to "ice" caused by the steam escaping your geyser room condensing outside of the room after the door gets opened?
Natural O2 production is a little out of control right now. I tend to get massive overpressure issues across the map late in games now. Can't remember that being a problem before.
Helicard, he seems a cool guy not sure if its just because of his youtube personality but i find him quite entertaining and someone I would play wreckfest with.
Nope, they get lost to the void of space. What you could do instead is run gases through an area of extreme heat followed by pumping the (now super hot) gas into the void.
If you're having the same issues I have (regolith goes unchecked to the point of destroying the bunker doors), I'd suggest placing some wallpaper so that you'll get an indicator with the "building entombed" note
Love this series. It's totally changed the way I play the game

There's another geyser to the left of the volcano!
Yes! Glad someone else saw it
Brothgar you're welcome!
yeah, like literally 10 tiles to the left, at same hight)
Yea i saw it before i saw the one that was exposed lol. Glad so many others saw it too.

you have to comment sooner or he won't see this, would you mind if i copy paste this next vid ,if i'm early to the vid?
Dark Pixel oh didnt know that. Id be grateful if you did that. It would be a shame if my huge text didnt get seen.
yeah, usually people don't check the comments after a day

at the neutronium you found at 12:50, if you go to the left there was another geyser/volcano
One way to cool down steam is to build radiant liquid pipe pass the steam area. The water pumping into your base can be used as coolant.
Easy way to spot geysers: shift to termal view, look for blue "lines" in temperate and hotter biomes (neutronium always stays cold)
Awesome video brothgar. Thanks for all the quality videos

Having watched later videos... oh no, the regolith! He just started going things down, and here starts the regolith.

You should start putting the dupe tubes to the ladder to space.
Brothgar! There’s another geyser to the left of that new Volcano!! Hope it’s a good one!
5:23 Oh God, put it away! I just finished Chemistry with the worst teacher ever and I'm having flashbacks!
One fun way to cool a base would be to super-heat a gas and vent it into space.
if it does vent all of your air you can create an atmospheric bubble though it does get hot up there
There is another Geyser left to the one you spotted in this episode!

Um have you realised you much GERMS YOU HAVE!
hey Brothgar its been a few days now and i can see that your vids are absolutely great keep up the good vids of oxygen not included(oni)
Not a bad idea actually, this could simplify mob grinders
How bout a super auto power system with the volcano :) just watched your video on that and what a series that was
Meteors can destroy abyssalite, you might want to make some bunker tiles...
You might have covered this, why not do the 1 exosuit to 1 dupe thing. It seemed to go well bar the locking dupes in their rooms i also think it would fit this challenge.
I wish this video was longer
Next to the volcano is another geyser. :)

... why you do not make the door earlier? venting all that lovely hydrogen
Twins !, 2 volcanos next to each other, what's the odds :)
Just letting you know there is a second volcano/geyser on your way to the surface
Would using space as a heat vent be worth it? You could use refrigeration to create superheated steam and vent that into space.
I actually found a Gold Geyser near the ice biome using your seed. Not sure why it didnt show up for you.
Whoa, those comets must have broken the abyssalite...Would this be able to be made into an experiment? "What can't comets break?".
do you confuse this with neutronium?
Oops, I did, I'll fix that. THX
Borthgar you have TWO gysers not just one. Look a bit to the left and you see the 4 tiles neutronium.
oh i see you saw some comment about this already.
Yay :D was waiting for next one!
do the transit tube thing please
wasnt this at the ...... wait wait lets just say DEJAVU!
I look at temperatures like that and I crap my pants
But you look at temeratures too hot to grow 2 of the main crops and smile
remember that wallpaper can be used to insulate from space!
keep up the good work sorry for not subbing earlier I was looking at your vids and watching them
P.S. keep up the great work 😁
Yay! Space too! Conquer everything! XD
Wasn't there an oil reservoir some hundreds cycles ago..? Did you use it? Was it drained? What happened to it?!
sonia.k illuminati took it
I'm a little confused about what happens in a vacuum environment. Things retain their temperature... and then what?
Aunque no entiendo mucho el inglés, me veo todos tus vídeos, sigue así 💓
Sus videos son entretenidos y bien informativos. Me ayudo en mis dias donde no entendia nada sobre oni con sus guias.
ery episode bubbles gets stuck
Brothgar has friends lmao. Sorry that made my day
Helicard, he seems a cool guy not sure if its just because of his youtube personality but i find him quite entertaining and someone I would play wreckfest with.
11:50 HOW
How do you zoom out like 11:55 ?
in my game, i some hot have 2 cool steam vents, like
kewl. cool.
If you didnt already see it, you have another geysir 20 tiles to the left of your volcano!
I've found it quite annoying since I started playing this game that I can't make a phase change cooling system.. wish they would fix that.
Can u please make a video about How to start a game
Because I always fail and my base doesn't look good...so i really want to know how to start...
Can you space cool gases or liquids?
Nope, they get lost to the void of space.
What you could do instead is run gases through an area of extreme heat followed by pumping the (now super hot) gas into the void.
Dupe tupe rupe rupe! :3
Brothgar how do you keep your dupes from starving? I can never seem to find a good source of food
what about when you run out of dirt?
im not saying it....
Oh god
did you see my comment on the wheeze wort video? I took your idea and may have improved it a little bit
Do you remember me? And love the videos!
Stay inside the earth, trust me. I can't just make the surface work. Tempted to start using glitchy stuff.
If you're having the same issues I have (regolith goes unchecked to the point of destroying the bunker doors), I'd suggest placing some wallpaper so that you'll get an indicator with the "building entombed" note
Regolith... REGOLITH EVERYWHERE! ON THE TABLE! ON THE CAT! IN MY MOUTH!!!
Hi, how are ya?
Lame question, how do you zoom out to show the whole map like that? XD
alt+s is the screenshot mode.
... Factorio?
make mooooore i like a lot
But what about plasma? Sure you have your standards, but then there's plasma.
soooo anyone else notice the extra vent beside the volcano?
no-no-no, you are the only one, don't read comets....
