I wonder if you can build a meteorite sieving system someone in the future? Maybe you could have bunker doors that close during meteor showers, and then open afterwards to let the refined metal drop into a small pit (exposed to space) where auto sweepers can pick it up.
There's a meteor sensor that, when hooked up to the bunker doors via automation wires, transmits a positive signal when a meteor shower is approaching. This way, it stays open when it's safe, closes when it's not safe. This way you can also have a bunch of solar panels to generate power or whatever else you'd like to do on the surface without worry.
You can hit emergency alarm button and all duplicants will ignore sleeping and eating. Useful for finishing pinch projects or saving trapped dupes that can't save themselves.
You keep talking about using slicksters to make crude oil, but if the environment is hot enough they'll lay Magma Slickster eggs and produce already-refined petroleum for you to use.
hey brothgar A Lamp that is 7 tiles high can light up 11 tiles. You just build it 6 tiles and have "only" 9 tiles. With the standing lamp that is one tile deep in the ground you get the same range without building something up high. On top of that: Glass is the only tile that letting light throw. You can use this to up your algie plantagtion by building around said lamp or staging them in a serten way. Have fun
8:00 There's an emergency work order button to the right of the fast forward buttons - you could make them work a little extra longer to finish a project when they'd other wise knock off.
You can use the hot CO2 to run a molten slickster ranch with a little bit of cooling. Also with the right amount of management, you could run a regular slickster ranch off the CO2 guyser and then pipe the crude oil past the volcano to turn it into petroleum.
Glad to see that my comment about the stables still made it in time :D finally caught up on the episodes. Sad thing is now i gotta wait for more episodes. I would love to see you using the co2 into crude oil into natural gas using those geysers. Or as some people pointed out you could use plastic dreckos to produce plastic and then uskng the volcano convert it into natural gas. Im so looking forward to the next videos. Keep it up and give us more of that quality content
For what it's worth, naturally occurring sleet wheat can make a lot of frost buns when in a pinch, food-wise. Enough to last a dozen or two cycles with twice as many duplicants as you have now (or at least, for what I'm able to do with my current base. I don't farm it (yet), I just leave the natural deposits alone).
If you set up a power plant with the use of the natural geyser, you will get a bunch of carbon dioxide at moderate temperature. You could mix this directly with the carbon dioxide from the carbon dioxide vent in batches to create your desired temperature, either for slicksters or for carbon skimming. This would also be a neat automation project. If you go for polluted water (40°C) you can soak up some heat from your base bring it back to the carbon dioxide vent for precooling and cooking it into steam. Maybe after that feeding a steam turbine or directly sending it into space to delete that heat. I guess it will take a lot of maths to figure out if this would yield a net benefit.
So just a fun idea for the carbon dioxide vent, use door pumps to move 500c gas to heat water that runs a steam turbine. Once gas is down to 250c door pump to a room connected to the cooling loop. Once 120c door pump to molten slicksters then pump to petroleum generator. Petroleum generators seem release products at machine temperature use cooling loop to keep at lower temperatures. Pump the low temperature carbon dioxide back into stage two ( the 250c to 120c cooling) for added efficiency. If the machine is keep at like 115c can easily steam the polluted water and get dirt while cooling the carbon dioxide of stage two. And feed the 120c ish steam down the cool steam geyser you have. I now wonder if you just kept the generator at like 10c if the carbon dioxide and polluted water would be enough to do all the cooling need in stage two without the loop.
Radiative pipe going paste wheezewart into new farm to pre-cool water. Use tempshift plates behind the plants to keep them equalized with the wheezewart.
At ur all gas geyser DIRECTLY next to a cold biome... brothgar, time for using polluted ice to cool everything. Natural gas generator putting out that water can be turned directly to ice, inside the cold biome.
You don't need a stable room, it's only for taming wild creatures. You could open plan it, make like a 3x4 room somewhere and throw 40+ hatches in there with a auto-sweeper + ranching station. No overcrowded debuff and faster grooming since small room
In order to seal efficiently, priority build first, then dig second. 9 to build, 8 to dig. Did he notice that he used a regular tile, instead of a gas tile, for the deodorizer? That was awesome. It was quite literally an explosion of steam. From another comment that gave me an idea: If the metal refinery gets hot enough to immediately turn water into steam, yet keep it as a liquid inside the pipe, could you make a steam power system and have the overflow cooled as extra water for the base?
Eh, I can only think of having the super-heated water turn into steam to power a turbine, then condense the cooled steam into colder water. But iirc, the turbine emits steam at around... 100 degrees? And it needs to be at 500 to run? If you have multiple refineries, I would wonder if the heat emitted from multiple refineries could increase heat production, as you're pumping more and more steam. But then you already covered that topic, and it doesn't, which is why there needs to be a second temp update to this game, I think.
A good goal to have eventually is to make a slime refining station that's automated and snake the conveyor line through chlorine so you get rid of all the slime while supplying enough algae to make tons of oxygen or even play around with the Pacus for fun while getting polluted dirt which can be turned either into dirt or fertilizer, your choice!
Also, you should get a jump on creating Lime, ceramics, and glass. They take a while to build up enough supply to do anything worthwhile and you'll be happy you have it when you need it. Also, why don't you use smart storage to regulate your plastic production? It could save power and keep the hydrogen room cooler for the "loops", simply set how much plastic you'd like to have in the storage, then stop plastic production.
Problem with that CO2 vent is the temp. You need to get it down below 270 for molten slicksters. You need to get it down to like 125 for carbon skimming. Maybe a pre-boiler for a steam generator, than use the volcano to heat up that steam. That'd make the CO2 at least cool enough to use. It'd be slow though I think with its poor thermal conductivity.
I would really love to see you build that CO2 geiser->slickster ranch-> vulcano->natural gas power plant device. Would be an interresting way to produce power
I have got an idea for killing of the germs in the slime...(DON'T NOW IF IT TOO EFFICINT OR NOT)...you can use an auto sweeper to sweep slime into a room full of chlorine then use a germ sensor to make sure it is germ free...also,make more videos im trying to understand as much automation
I actually found a cold carbon dioxide vent that outputs liquid co2. Dont know what to use it for yet but I'm guessing I can partly use it for some cooling shenanigans.
If you make Pickled Meal Lice using the grill you wont use any water. Grill cooking in general is better because it uses no water. I usually cycle my crops starting with Pickled Meal, than Gristle Berry, than Frost buns (Sleet Wheat). Bye the time I'm done with the cycle I have built up enough meal lice to start again.
this is a good tip for early game but in late game their are many ways to produce water for example cooling the steam from his vent and the recycling bathroom loop
If you using only pickled meal to feed your dupes...you convert 800 kals on one pickled meal and the pickled meal have 300 kals...so if you got more than 10 dupes in your base...you will get a net lose of 500 kals in your colony for each mealwood crop
I don't play ONI, lack of capacity mainly, but last episode I asked about the possibility of using the steam from your cool steam vent to clean out the Slime biome. Viable or not?
But then you have 60-80°c polluted (germfree) air. It's way more simple to just use 0.5% of the sand laying around and convert it to clean air. Problem solved ^^
TheBoundFenrir you technically could... But it would be way too much work. Deodorizers and algea distillers do the same thing and they are easier to make
So the asteroid keeps getting bombarded by meteors until you lose all the terrain up there? :O That will be a real problem for your space base! I liked your bristle blossom farm design, but I guess just one wheeze wort is too little for the farm. Maybe a little help from the cool hydrogen loop?
From what I've seen from others who are at the surface they begin production of steel (iron + lime) which makes a pretty strong layer against the surface corrosion. I think the meteors are a filtration medium like sand but they are very hot and using them would require methods to pull that heat away/destroy the heat.
Isnt better to cool small/medium water tank and then feed that water to the base ? Also it would be easier to optimize liquid flow once there is buffer tank, that also makes possibility for easier control of liquid amount and its temperature by adding hot water to it and cooling with petroleum
I'm not sure whether or not you know this but I never see you take advantage of it. With the job system after a duplicant has 100% mastery of the step on the job they will permanently have the buffs from that part of the profession, For example you can get the exosuit engineer on everyone so they move faster in a exosuit, or eventually have everyone as mechatronics and be able to build the transporting stuff without having to stay locked into the job. A nice thing about this is you can get for example all the strength+ buffs and have some really optimized supplying ect. (I know for this particular challenge that wouldn't be needed but its a game changer if you know about this)
Yes, my dupes get passed from one job to the next improving their speed and strength etc... once a dupe has mastered several different job trees, I then consider putting them into their fave job... it is a good way to level them up in every area.
I don't know if it's correct but I think that the pipes of the bristle blossom are wrong! I think that they must have 1 pipe for each plant, so a pipe under all the plants and a 1 spot pipe to the plant! I hope you understand ;)
Could you do something with other critters apart from the hatches? I tried setting up a twin vertical drecko ranch that was connected with a door at the bottom, and with hydrogen at the top of each one and oxygen and chlorine in the middle, or in other words at the bottom of each ranch for crops. Chlorine for the lilies the dreckos like and oxygen for the bristle blossoms and mealwood for the blue ones. But I didn't have enough space when it was done to set up any automation and then got all sorts of problems with gas pressure inside the system leading to the chlorine spreading into the mealwood farms and then the oxygen pushing the chlorine past the balm lilies when I tried to adjust, which I could probably have solved in retrospect by blocking the doors with Co2 to prevent leaking. It was my attempt at a double atmo/twindo ranch that sort of failed. And I never got a glossy drecko at all for the oxygen ranch. But it was a nice idea and I meant well! Anyway, do more ranching. Would like to see a shine bug ranch in particular. They always go extinct for me and I need some ideas. And fish. They tend to go extinct for me as well.
If you break a metal refinery while it is full. The water turns into steam. Maybe The Brothgar can figure out a way to use that steam so I do not have to be so hot under the collar
Actually I "empty store" on the metal refinery as my room got overheat damage and... yes,... thats enough, you didn't even have to break it. aah you probably mean "break it" and not deconstruct it. The empty process must have been in the same moment as my machine broke >.
that carbon dioxide vent produces the heat needed to convert crude oil from slicksters into petroleum right? dont know if it would work or if it would be efficient, but could be fun :P
Can you do a series that goes through basics of survival? I keep dying to either starvation or lack of oxygen. and when i try to go into other biomes my dupes get sick so i'm kinda at a lost
probably but rn i'm pretty sure its impossible to freeze CO2 in the game, and if it is possible their would be no point when you can just use a carbon skimmer or compress it into a farm to get it out of your main base
If you submerge a storage container in about 600kg (maybe less, i haven't done a lot of testing) of water the slime inside won't "evaporate" into polluted oxygen.
Well I build a bottle emptier and drop clean water for a second (240g), then deselect "clean water" in the bottle emptier menu so it drops the rest. I guess ANY amount of liquid will prevent the slime/oxylite/bleach stone to evaporate.
Brothgar have u ever thought about useing doors to exploit the game as in if u make a door u can build through it so could u use that to keep gases at Bay and still be able to move them like build a door lock it and build a door infont of it the gases that r infont of it will move and u don't have the gas seeping out so try that maybe :)
So u can just keep pushing back the air by building a door through the door u just built yes like a door pump but instead of using mechanized air locks u use just air locks no wires
And then just deconstruct the door behind the other door and rinse repeat u no I don't have ONI so I can't show u but just no u can build through doors so take advantage of that
If this is the Fully Automatic base why are you using Carbon Dioxide to keep your Food fresh? Just use power! HOW DARE YOU BE LAZY Maybe a pressure thing to make sure that you have enough Carbon Dioxide. When the air is not right the Refrigerators will turn on.

Just wanted to say that I've been greatly enjoying this challenge and everyday I look forward to a new video from you.
Bubbles and her shenanigans are my favourite.
2:04 there's birds singin'
It's Spring and Hailie's outside swingin'
Can't seem to get enough of this challenge. Always seem to be waiting for the next video. Thanks a lot for all the great content

At the beginning of the video, the temperature of the Regolith was 216 degrees C, you could use this to generate steam as for the steam turbine.
And you have some glossy drecko at the right, just under the natural gas geyser^^
Great source of eggs and plastic^^

Oooh what a wonderful video to find first thing on my Sunday.
I actually found a cold carbon dioxide vent that outputs liquid co2. Dont know what to use it for yet but I'm guessing I can partly use it for some cooling shenanigans.
Looks like your auto wort in your new farm isn't fully wired; the door is missing a cable.
I always save your videos for laat brothgar. Your are the nicest chap.. top bloke.
at 24:15, your kitchen water, can you not put in a controllable liquid shutoff valve and liquid sensor to maintain a certain water level?
you're so lucky to have a nice day! on 7/7/2018 here in Arizona we have temperatures reaching over 111* Fahrenheit
Welp now my dupes are sick of slimelung
we cook eggs and bacon on the sidewalk
If you make Pickled Meal Lice using the grill you wont use any water. Grill cooking in general is better because it uses no water. That temperature isn't enough to kill germs, plus the steam will condense and make puddles of water everywhere.
Ooh, but he *did* just find 500 degree CO2 vent... I bet that's hot enough to kill some germs...and it won't leave puddles everywhere!

Slim Lung from my experience, dies faster from clod then heat. like 50*F.
Also, i use Imperial for my base.
Yo, there's YET ANOTHER BURIED Geyser. Lower right of Volcano. at 1:16 mark
So the asteroid keeps getting bombarded by meteors until you lose all the terrain up there? :O
That will be a real problem for your space base!
I liked your bristle blossom farm design, but I guess just one wheeze wort is too little for the farm. Maybe a little help from the cool hydrogen loop?
Pesterenan I’m not sure but I think the meteorites give some soil
Headshot XD Yeah but the big ones can really do some harm! Check out his abyssalite, is almost breaking!
Oh okay I’m not really a big fan of ONI I don’t know everything
From what I've seen from others who are at the surface they begin production of steel (iron + lime) which makes a pretty strong layer against the surface corrosion. Please more VIDEOS!
Brothgar at 2× speed is a bit more excited, also, how many slicksters do you need per duplicant and coal generator?
I don't know if it's correct but I think that the pipes of the bristle blossom are wrong! I think that they must have 1 pipe for each plant, so a pipe under all the plants and a 1 spot pipe to the plant! I hope you understand ;)
Jack Dest I think that oddity about pipes was fixed several upgrades ago.
Latronibus Well, that's good then!
Could you do something with other critters apart from the hatches? Woah, I'm feeling TOTALly TUBeular!
Hey Brothgar, since the Update it will not be able to use a steam generator without magma ?
there's another geyser to the right of the three bleach stone pits near the top of your base
Aww I was hoping I'd get a mention for finding that geyser 😔
Did you ever end up exploring generating water with permanently stressed ugly criers?
do a base where you dig the whole thing up
Why does your bristle blossom farm have a pneumatic door (air permeable) when you intend to maintain the conditions inside it?
he needs the O2 to have a way out because he wants a pure CO2 environment inside
The worst part is that a CO2 environment with 40c water just won't work. Need Oxy/POxy with it's higher heat transfer to keep the temperature down.
Put a shinebug in the farm so it does not need power
It would get out
that carbon dioxide vent produces the heat needed to convert crude oil from slicksters into petroleum right? dont know if it would work or if it would be efficient, but could be fun :P
zalto16 it would work but would be hard not to turn it to natural gas because the magma is REALLY hot.
comment Channel 122020 I was actually talking about the heat you already have from the CO2 vent
it would be a fun design challenge because the heat would kill the slicksters you could cool the CO2 with the oil while it turns into petroleum
I feel a system like that would be really interesting
Hey to cool down your base, why don’t you cool down the oxygen created by the electrolyzer ? That would be way easier !
Well we’re not having a good day because we’re going through another semi-hurricane irma here in China. The whole country is flooding ;(
Can you do a series that goes through basics of survival? I keep dying to either starvation or lack of oxygen. and when i try to go into other biomes my dupes get sick so i'm kinda at a lost
98 degrees and 72 humidity my day is crappy
Can hatches eat solid CO2?
probably but rn i'm pretty sure its impossible to freeze CO2 in the game, and if it is possible their would be no point when you can just use a carbon skimmer or compress it into a farm to get it out of your main base
cause space is a valucme, does wallpaper keep air in?
Awesome, was wondering what it was for.
I guess ANY amount of liquid will prevent the slime/oxylite/bleach stone to evaporate.
sorry i'm a bit of a grammar nazi. But, the correct term is sublimate. because, it is a solid turning into a gas not a liquid.
sorry i'm a bit of a grammar nazi. But, the correct term is sublimate. because, it is a solid turning into a gas not a liquid.
yeah, as long as the bottom of the storage container is covered.
I wonder if it's possible to let asteroids wreck the entire world
for current version though, it is not working due to the fact that wheezewart cannot be put in the flower pot anymore :(
Oooh missed 1st. Greetings Fellow duplicant :D
Dups cant put automation wire at base of door, so the wheze wart door wont ever open.
McDoubletap He has done videos of door pumps before.
No not door pumps
No if u make a dup bulid a door and lock it dups can build through it I no what a door pump is and that's not what I'm talking about
So u can just keep pushing back the air by building a door through the door u just built yes like a door pump but instead of using mechanized air locks u use just air locks no wires
And then just deconstruct the door behind the other door and rinse repeat u no I don't have ONI so I can't show u but just no u can build through doors so take advantage of that
Damnit, third, my life suck now.... :9
You mispronounced Nails' name. It's pronounced "Nales" as in the fingernail. Also you can see their gender in the "Bio" tab.
Nice love your vid and #warframe
If this is the Fully Automatic base why are you using Carbon Dioxide to keep your Food fresh? Just use power! HOW DARE YOU BE LAZY Maybe a pressure thing to make sure that you have enough Carbon Dioxide. When the air is not right the Refrigerators will turn on.
like before watch |:D
Is it just me or is it horribly annoying that he says Nails wrong? It's NAILS - like a hammer and nails! he is saying nials.
