Amazing comment
The sad things is that if he’d done this in the early 90s it would’ve been fantastic

When I was in my early teens I was obsessed with scratching my rectum. I eventually figured out that if I leave a thin layer of shit on my anus and let it dry over night I would be more itchy and I would have a fun surprise that I could peal off my butt hole in the morning. I cannot describe how wonderful the feeling of pulling off that thin simi transparent sheet was. After pulling it off I would smell it and then toss it under my sink. After a week or so the smell was too much for me to handle. So I began to spray febreze down there every once in a while. This went on up until I started growing hair down there. I stopped for a while because I would end up pulling hair with my shit. In the mean time, I would toss my finger and toe nails along with my heel skin and occasionally, my sun burn skin (what a treat that was) under the sink. I eventually began to miss the sensation of peeling, so I decided to shave around my anus. Shaving it made it more itchy! Sadly, for some reason my shit wouldn't come off in a single layer. That's when I decided to take some Elmer's glue and lightly apply it around my rectum and let it dry. My god! The feeling was 10,000 times better than before! Not to mention that my anus was super smooth after peeling! The worst day of my life happened three years ago today. While I was out shopping my next door neighbors house caught fire and engulfed my house with it. My beautiful collection went up in smoke.
What consistency? He literally did not wear it for like 2 weeks

I...... agree!
Out of all the comments, this might be one of them.

For me this is up there with his SB2H and Miley Cyrus and the Dead Pets reviews
LET'S AGREE.
It's clear to me from listening to the album that all of this was done on a shoestring budget on computer by a very amateur musician(s), saving Glenn's vocals. The guitars were plugged straight into the board, with no amp simulation. The piano is software-based, with little-to-no dynamics. Everything has been awkwardly snapped to the grid, sometimes in places that make no sense. I would very much like to hear another production of this album in a proper studio with some decent session musicians.
Brian Bays I kinda agree with you.
Brian Bays But that’s not really the subject either.
I would like to never hear Danzig cover anything ever again. He should honestly just stop making music so that he doesn’t ruin his legacy anymore than he already has
@@BigOwl51 I get that, too, but I really think this could have been okay if the recording and musicianship was there. I'm all for musicians experimenting and branching out, so long as their talent is intact. I don't think Glenn's vocals are lacking at all. It was just an unfortunate production gaff.
Such a shame really because if Danzig had made an Elvis covers album in the early 90s with the original band he could have slayed it. His voice was so strong in the early Danzig days.
He recorded several Elvis songs in the 90s. What a shame is you didn’t know this🤘

I searched for is it so strange to hear the pianos and he's so right it's like a monkey was playing it lmao so harsh
Sure everyone said that about his directorial debut "Verotika"
I started laughing when I heard how insanely quite the guitars were. Was the person who mixed it deaf?
@chubbyurma Surely there's a second part coming that makes sense of this one ;)
Danzig sounds like he's in the middle of a yawn throughout the entire thing. The reverb is all fucked up, ugly, and mismatched too. The delay in Baby Let's Play House reminded me of that Sabbath song FX lol. Like, the production is just straight garbage. All the instruments are sloppy af, like, the guitars miss notes, at times everyone sounds like they're just barely on rhythm, it's so weird coming from professional musicians. Not to mention the ridiculously quiet yet browned out guitars, it sounds like your neighbor is practicing some Van Halen tune for the first time. And the pianos are straight trash, and as basic as they get. It's like when you just learned the chords and you're trying to make sure if they're right, before you add any variety.
Also for some reason some songs are transposed down, like Fever for example. Maybe it was to make it more comfortable for Danzig's voice? But he sings higher notes in other songs and it's not like he sounds super comfortable where they are now either. But transposing them down makes them duller. And yeah, Anthony is not exaggerating, he misses notes all the time. It's embarrassing. And he sounds like Captain fucking Beefheart in When it Rains it Really Pours.
When danzig fans react better to this than Fiona apple stans did to a positive review. lmao
SonicAids that’s cos even the most die hard danzig stan would admit that this was terrible

Listen, he was a legend back in the day but he's done so many fucked up things since then that even the most diehard Glenn Danzig fan has a hard time defending him anymore, myself included. This is really just one more bad decision in a history of bad decisions, but The Misfits really did spawn a whole genre and hundreds if not thousands of clone bands. It's kind of sad that this is what he's doing now, because his work was so influential and I knew so many people growing up that eventually ended up in a horror punk/psychobilly band. True. People only hate Graves because their older brothers and cousins told them to. I grew up during the Graves years and "didn't know any better" and no one told me to think otherwise, and I love it. That era is a different misfits instrumentally also, so why even compare them?

@@ItsNotDC That's the whole thing, if it wasn't compared to Danzig era Misfits it would have been more beloved. I always thought "The Brothers Grimm" was a cool name for the band....okay at least it was better name than "Kryst the Conqueror".
I had to go and look up "Fever" because when you sang a few words, I knew I'd heard it from somewhere else. Peggy Lee's version is the most famous, but the original one was written by Eddie Cooley and Otis Blackwell and sang by Little Willie John (who passed away when he was only 30 while in prison). I'd heard the Peggy Lee version before too, but she has a different composition than the original and changes some of the words. That is Peggy Lee's most well known song. Then Elvis later covered Peggy Lee's version. So, basically, Elvis is covering a cover. Also, I'd heard Beyonce cover this song as well and you can see her perform it in that Christian movie called Fighting Temptations. I think I might have heard that before any of the others. That one also sounds like Peggy Lee's version.
The more you know, I guess. (I also have a sneaking suspicion that not many people know that Peggy Lee's version isn't the original)

Everytime I see Danzig's face on the cover, I think it's a picture of Boris Karlov's Frankenstein.
First of all, Danzig's first FOUR albums are classics, not just the first two and more importantly, Danzig sadly lost his voice in 1998 or so (due to the excessive screaming he did on the 1996/1997 Blackacidevil tour). He has NEVER sounded the same since and through the years his voice has gotten even worse (more hoarse, thin, shallow, croacking, weak). Had he done this Elvis album anywhere between 1987 and 1996 (pre-Blackacidevil tour), he would have SLAYED it. Just listen to his ballads from his peak years, like Sistinas (1992), How the Gods Kill (1992), Devil's Plaything (1990), Going Down to Die (1994), Let It Be Captured (1994), Dominion (1994), Son of the Morning Star (1994), I'm the One (1990), Blood and Tears (1990), Girl (1990), Anything (1992), Cold Cold Rain (1990), You & Me (Less Than Zero) (1987), Ashes (1996).
I seen him in Atlanta a couple months ago. He’s 67 and put on one hell of a show. Voice sounded great.

You know a NOT GOOD is gonna hurt when Fantano spends almost 2 minutes explaining how he loves the artist. Yowch.
The true Elvis of Punk was Lux Interior anyway
If it was Elvis singing it would've been a 11/10
I literally just got done watching RLMs video on Verotika when this pops up. lmao this Danzig guy is a trip.
Oh the grin I made when I saw those big red letters in the thumbnail. I'll give Danzig two months.
Lux Interior could’ve done an Elvis cover album so much better
Oh yes
May he rest in peace
Well he did sing fever back then on that near dark movie. That was 1987, I guess
What's Worse for Glenn Danzig?
His Movie Verotika Getting Chris Stuckmann Hilarocity Reviewed Or This Album getting An Anthony Fantano NOT GOOD
I Say Both.
Stuckmann is just a poor man's RLM.
Bilb Ono RLM is the poor man’s RLM
RIP Danzig. He died seconds after Anthony Fantano’s video was released. Many have come to the conclusion that Fantano was the murderer, because he was also the suspect for XXXTentacion’s death right after a NOT GOOD review came out
And Chris Stuckmann was his assistant
I can't believe he went out the same way Elvis did, that's just hilariously cruel Melonious Fantonious
Jokes about celeb deaths right now😓. I had to google him
Why do you all have to be pussies?
@@Eolgen Mad for no reason, gtfo mate
Dude he fucking has been called upon to do this forever. If you appreciate him truly, you would appreciate this. He didn’t get his name evil Elvis for no reason
bashing Danzig for playing all the instruments in this album.. actually this LP is pretty interesting and he wanted to sound in this specific way... also for being a Glenn Danzig fan you forgot to mention Samhain > The Misfits
Guitar sample missing at 0:16.
Elvis is rolling on his toilet
Fuuuuck 🤣
Downvoted for dissing Michael Graves era of Misfits.
Damn these album ratings are lower than the DOW
Saying Elvis sucks and Danzig is way out of his league is pretty controversial Anthony.
I'm just waiting for the follow up album.
When do you think Elvis sings Danzig will be released?
Maybe check out Daughters' album "Hell Songs" for a similar vibe. As one writer put, it sounds like Elvis being tortured.
@@thirtyyearoldmulberryfield Haha, thanks
Great review but when you said "Covid 19 was the best thing to happen to america" that was a bit too far melon
not funny
… if you don’t have a sense of humor, nothing is funny.
Is It So Strange, Lonely Blue Boy, Pocket Full Of Rainbows and Loving Arms.... I'm sorry, but those songs sound pretty great, in my opinion.
Yes, the production is "off" but I don't completely hate it like everyone else, apparently.
::::;waving:::: hand... I, also, liked what I heard so far and plan on buying the LP
Came on youtube just to hear the song advertised for a 45... and was glad to see he did a whole Album.. & like I said.. I plan on buying it....
Because they all live in the parents bedroom, and they all think that they are more smart than anyone else in this whole world... The album itself wasn’t relevant of course, for me, but the supposed “heat” from this toxic critic “fan-base” shows a lot about the days we are living in.
Im honestly shocked you took the time to do a video on this album.
Conquered Kingdoms Have you ever heard of business money?
Danzig about this fantano review: I pray you don't look at me I pray I don't look back
Yeah...this record sounds like truck-stop karaoke night at 1 am, in the middle of nowhere. Just a bunch of truckers...beer...and a mic that anyone may sing into, if it pleases them.
That sound you make at the Beginning Sounds like those creatures on the ceiling in half life!!!!
Chris Stuckman and Antony Fantano should create a segment called Hilariocity: A NOOT GOOD Story.
Idk why but when it popped up in my notifications I thought it said “Denzel Sings Elvis” and I was like WAHT
Henry McKenzie lol Denzel Curry sings Elvis
Henry McKenzie lol Denzel Curry sings Elvis
he would have unironically done a much better job than this
YA9 fr, thr man has a midas touch
YA9 Pain in the ass...
I thought the album was good , I enjoyed danzig’s takes on the Elvis songs , it’s nowhere near as bad as this reviewer tries to make it , to me it’s a fun record
I just started listening to that major now classic rock legend. I just remember hearing "mother" a lot during that mid 2000s era, never really grabbed me but I noticed Spotify ALWAYS was recommending Danzig to me so I gave more songs a try and now really like his stuff and it's great road rock...Some of the songs make me think if The Doors made it to the 90s and were like "Okay....We got to go 90s heavy gothic alt rock now..." lol
wow
lol

Underrated: Michael graves era misfits.
Great album but I think the opinion of graves era being not good is focused on that album. American phylogeny is graves doing the misfits style better than Danzig ever did
Psycho
Graves stuff was amazing I’ve never understood the hate for him
@/k/eegan Not only was he a great vocalist but also a great songwriter. I think there's actually an argument to be made that Graves era Misfits is better than the original. Everything released with Graves was classic. It's just an almost completely different band than the original misfits. Grotesquely underrated.
Fuck yeah especially famous monsters. I seen them play that album at Maritime Hall in San Francisco with Gwar 🔥
This is my take after a listen to the album. This is Danzig, alone...just getting lost to his hero. I know the Elvis versions of all these songs in depth and what is happening here is Danzig, closing his eyes and just saying "thank you", almost like a prayer in a way..the muted backing tracks and all is as if he doesn't want it to be loud because..it's a silent prayer of sorts. To an artist who touched so many lives, so deeply with such incredible music, Danzig isn't trying to even rival Elvis ..he just want's to feel his presence. That's what I fell this is.. I honestly don't feel this was meant to be a technical album..he just did it and said, that's enough. It's kinda profound actually from that standpoint. I get it.
Al Mauro Thank you for taking the time to think a complete thought in this horrendous comment section. Good day to you, sir.
