I remember when I used to like Imagine dragons and first time hearing their song in a car commercial I was like "oh cool, one of my favorite bands in a commercial" then I heard another one, then another one, and then I realize that, that's all their music is, just songs for car commercials, I bet they Mix it so that it would sound good coming out of your car speakers, like you have no idea how many times I've heard "On Top of the World" on any stupid ass feel good commercials about getting up and moving forward.

I loved this band when I was like 10. In my belief, Imagine Dragons is for either 30 year old dads, or young children. I just can't really enjoy this band anymore now that my music taste has changed.

Up through smoke and mirrors I loved them. Evolve was my disconnect with them and so far I haven’t even bothered with this new album. I’m all for artists to take creative freedom, but frankly ever since Dan Reynolds powered through his depressive episode, everything is almost too upbeat, too hype, like everything is put through a magical fairy filter.
Not that music needs angst or depression behind it, but their music is shallow and over indulgent of itself and its self proclaimed meaning

That “combo of foo fighters and Coldplay” would be my number one reason that imagine dragons are so big. They’re rock music for people who’ve never heard any other rock music. So if you’re gonna be a soft rock fan, you find and enjoy some part of imagine dragons. If you’re gonna be an alt rock fan, you find and enjoy some part of imagine dragons. Its like what Coldplay did for alt and indie rock in the early 2000s, dialled up to 11.
Comparing Coldplay to Imagine Dragons is like comparing Drake to Flo Rida.

I think it's a very good album from them ("Yes/Chinese Sleep Chant" is my favorite song from the album) and I love the various sonic styles and direction of the album. I haven't listened to anything past Mylo Xyloto though so I can't say much about anything past that though.

Imagine Dragons doesn't write their songs to be played on the radio or even for people listening to the album, they write their songs to be played in commercials.
That's why the chorus is so loud and the verses don't matter. Commercials are typically only 30 seconds long after all. Pllus, commercials are always way louder than the show you're watching, in an attempt to get your attention.
So, Imagine Dragons save their clients the trouble of having to make the songs any louder. It's ready to go commercial musac.

I know this is late, but Todd in the Shadows did a take on this (I think in his Imagine Dragons review, and again in his review of Move by Saint Motel / Feel It Still by Portugal. The Man. IIRC he said that the indie scene was turning into vague commercial music, and since he said that I can't unhear it! Even some songs that I genuinely like have an off-putting commercial feel to them, and none have it as noticeable as Imagine Dragons. Can't stand them. Radioactive was okay, but I can only listen to their songs when covered by a more palpable band, like the nightcore rap remix of Sucker for Pain, or the orchestral / choral version of Believer.

I saw Anthony Fantano at a whole foods in Wolcott yesterday. I told him how cool it was to meet him in person, but I didn’t want to be a douche and bother him and ask him for photos or anything.
He said, “Oh, like you’re doing now?”
I was taken aback, and all I could say was “Huh?” but he kept cutting me off and going “huh? huh? huh?” and closing his hand shut in front of my face. I walked away and continued with my shopping, and I heard him chuckle as I walked off. When I came to pay for my stuff up front I saw him trying to walk out the doors with like fifteen granola bars in his hands without paying.
The girl at the counter was very nice about it and professional, and was like “Sir, you need to pay for those first.” At first he kept pretending to be tired and not hear her, but eventually turned back around and brought them to the counter.
When she took one of the bars and started scanning it multiple times, he stopped her and told her to scan them each individually “to prevent any electrical infetterence,” and then turned around and winked at me. I don’t even think that’s a word. After she scanned each bar and put them in a bag and started to say the price, he kept interrupting her by yawning really loudly.

If I could come up with a genre for Imagine Dragons it would be something like “post-production rock”. There’s something that bothers me about the fact that this music would not work on any level if you tried to play it with regular instruments in a real world situation, without all the massive post-production involved. They say a good song should work on vocals and an acoustic guitar or piano, and a lot of good modern electro-pop songs would. Most Imagine Dragons songs, I don’t think so.
I play most of their songs on piano and they sound great, idk what you mean.

But for Evolve and especially Origins, It's a torture device

I remember when I used to love Imagine Dragons. I thought I was so cool and "not like other girls" just because they weren't a girly band😂.
Yeah I used to be a big Imagine Dragons fan, I kind of went through a phase.
As someone who likes this band, I'll agree their last two albums were atrocious. I'll always defend night visions, as I genuinely believe it was a good album. Regardless of Radioactive and Demons, songs like Every Night, Amsterdam, It's Time and Bleeding Out were phenomenal. Smoke + mirrors was also a great album bringing out both light and dark sides of themselves throughout the album. Shots, Hopeless Opus, Friction, I'm so sorry, Dream, all good songs. The deluxe additions to smoke + mirrors were also great with songs like Monster, Warriors, Release and Battle Cry, which were diverse, and brought something different to the table. After that, they. fell. off. You can diss them now, but don't diss their entire discography, they had a good 3 year run.

Ghidorah well, I suggest it, I think it’s a deeper better version of Night Visions, that’s the most common perception of it. Edit: Actually let me correct myself, they’re both around just as lived but I stand by the statement that it is deeper.
As a Imagine Dragons fan i can say that this could be one of my least fav albums ever if it wasn't by songs like "Birds" or "Real Life".
And effectively, "Digital" is the weirdest song ,they ever made even for the fandom.
