I have a Moto X4, a mid-ranger. Had it since November 2017. It's aged very well. Still runs snappy, and the camera is fine, especially with the Pixel 3 camera APK. Jaime claims that he's yet to see a mid-ranger that ages well, but he reviews so many so called flagship phones that his perspective is distorted. Most people simply don't need a $1000 phone. RUclips reviewers seem to think they do, but that's what they do for a living. It's like someone who reviews nothing but high end luxury cars reviewing a Toyota Camry. Of course they're gonna think the Camry sucks. But they don't live in the real world where 95% of people live, where a Camry is just fine, or even better.
Totally agree, but more of us are going to have to make this clear before an OEM has enough balls to build a top spec polycarbonate phone or better yet, polycarbonate with a grippy coating.

Google should have stayed in the mid-range smartphone market because the high end has way too much competition especially considering their phones always looks so generic compared to the competition...
Generic?!? I call it original. Take cameras off the back, logos etc. You couldn't tell the difference between most all other Android's except for the Pixel.

I've taken pictures of friends, and they were amazed of the outcome. XS Max of a friend couldn't keep up 😁
I'd love to get this, but just not enough storage for my needs. I currently have about 45 gigs of music stored locally on my phone, so even if I don't have many apps (and almost no photos), I need a minimum of 128 GB of storage space if they're not going to give me a micro SD card slot. It's too bad to, as they were almost there...
I stream most music and keep very little locally but I to ran out of storage on my pixel 3aXL. Used about 20 GB in one evening recording my son's Christmas thing at school. I backed up to Google photos and cleared the memory the next day. But now I'm paying for that storage. Used to be free. So although I lobe the phone, there are definitely a few drawbacks.
I'm so satisfied with my Google Pixel 3a XL. I won't spend another $1,000 plus dollars on a smartphone that doesn't have a camera as good as the Pixel.

This phone looks WAY better than the 3XL. And has better price, the jack, battery and it's not glass (which I think it's a plus). Sadly the SOC is meh :(
Most phones do go for that sexy look but we all slap cases on them and nobody sees the look of it, so I guess it doesn't matter to me how it looks that much. All the stuff about performance is nonsense. I have a pixel 2, and I've never run into so called lags and stutters. There are also important features that people don't mention much in their reviews like the amazing video stabilization, Google FI (freedom from major carriers and their bloatware), unlimited photo and video storage at original quality on Google photos, and 24/7 technical support available through the settings menu, Now Playing music recognition, call screening, restaurant reservations through the assistant, the squeeze feature which is the fastest, most convenient way to launch an assistant on any phone, not to mention all of the features that would only be available on a pixel phone had Google been as proprietary with their software as apple i.e. Google lens, Gboard with the fastest, most accurate voice typing on any phone, AR walking directions in Google maps, Google translate, etc. All of these features could have been pixel only features if Google acted more like apple, and because people can get these features on other phones, the pixel phone is not recognized as the great useful smartphone that it is.

@@almerammar8601 I have a S10, similar to Note 9. Well Pixel 3a I don't think it's that much better but definitely isn't worse, know what I mean?! like, a Samsung midranger is definitely worse than Note 9. Pixel 3a has nice screen, good camera, nice dual speakers, still got 3.5mm, so I don't see a lot of losses, and since u have a S8, if u sell or exchange in a store, u should get some money back/extra money in exchange for the pixel. Things that I guess are better on the Note 9 is recording video, the rest I think is not a big difference, sure it is downgraded but not a huge gap like it would be from another midranger less or equal to Pixel 3a/XL price. But since I never used a Pixel 3a can't speak for sure, just by seeing the reviews.
still using the first pixel and installed the ported pixel 3 camera app.just using it to take stunning photos and content consumption for my kids on the go.and it still got the mic issue but i’m still keeping it
i have a pixel 3a xl and am totally satisfied with. i traded in my lgg6 which was a good phone but when these pixels came out i had to give one a try. and i did not make a mistake. it actually runs smoother than the g6 and there's no need for additional software like launchers and icon packs. if there was anything else i would ask for the most important would be at least an ip67 rating. and maybe a wide angle lense.
I'm glad a review finally mentioned the questionable nature of the 3a's durability. I've been so perplexed as to why this phone doesn't face more scrutiny considering the performance issues of the 3, and that this phone has somewhat lower specs than that.
I swapped out my S9 for a OnePlus 7 Pro and hated it. I took it back the next day and got a Pixel 3a XL. The phone is fine for my use, I get through my work day playing Spotify and browsing social media and still have 25% or more battery life left, and the pictures are....whew. *Chefs Kiss* The problem for me is the video capture. I love to record and throw it on IG and this is worse than the S9. WORSE by a long shot. This will not sit with me well and I will just pay the restocking fee again, chalk it up and get the S10.
I know this is an old video. But even now I hear this camera blows most out of the water. So why would it need more cameras? And how does it compare to the 2020 SE? I know the SE doesn't have nightmode.
The pixel didn’t sell because it was on Verizon and most US customers don’t know a phone exist unless it’s on their carrier shelves. The pixel 4 will sell great because most Americans can pick it up.
I read so many reviews, some good some bad, and I am totally confused. I have been thinking of getting rid of my three year old Droid Turbo 2 and buying the 3a xl. I would love some help. I am 64 years old and not real techy.
Especially since there's the international model a70 on Amazon with all the gsm usa bands for att and TMobile and etc and its around 360 vs 400 but I haven't owned a Samsung phone since the note 2 lol not sure how fast updates would be for the a70
Watched this on my Note 9, which I traded my Pixel 2 XL for because I didn't want the deep notch life. But I do miss the timely upgrades and the pixel launcher. I can use Google assistant on my Note but the integration isn't as tight. I agree with most of the others here, this should have been the pixel 3. I would purchase the 3a XL if it had wireless charging and cost around $550. The only reason I'm using a Note 9 is because Samsung gave me $350 trade in for my Pixel and I knew if I waited a year no one would give me that much money for it. Note 9 is amazing but it's a bit overkill and the duplicate apps and bloatware is annoying.
Most people look for deals when purchasing phones these days and this isn't a deal. Use last year's SoC (SD 845) and make 128GB the starting storage while keeping the same $399 price tag. That's a deal.
I feel like the Pixel 2 XL is a better deal. You can get it for around the same price new, still get unlimited photo/video storage at full resolution, and an overall more capable chipset (including visual core).
I paid $150 from Google on the 3a at launch and should be getting my $100 Google store credit soon. Is it perfect? No. Far from it. Yet for the money there is no better phone on the market. I sold my Note 9 and do not miss it.
For 50%+ of users 64gb is a no go and I remember Pocketnow giving Apple a hard time for 64gb in 2018, so in 2019, what are your thoughts? Stop the $400 price point, it is misleading, the Pixel 3a XL is the main seller and in the UK that is £479. I can get the 256gb OP7P for £619. Out of the UK, the Pixel 3a is poor value. The Pixel 3 XL has pretty crap RAM management so I expect the 3a to be restrictive for a 2019 phone. As a future-proofed phone, this fails. The camera software is great but 3-4 years of terrible video and no wide-angle or lossless zoom or 3D sensor sucks and really no matter the price it is a big big loss. Overall the Pixel 3a XL is a poor buy for most of us especially as the average consumer will be happy with 99% of phone cameras in 2019. In fact, I feel influencers are pushing this phone a little too hard. Using the Pixel 3XL I can say my overall experience has been quite poor, from useless RAM management to bugs. I have reset the phone 3 times now to try and get some sort of good experience. I also have the Pixel 2 and that is a great phone for its time, none of the issues of the Pixel 3. I wonder what went wrong but from my knowledge, any reviewer praising this phone has lost some of my respect?
I’m kinda not happy google is becoming as basic as iPhone but I’m glad they’re finally getting recognized as a competitor cause pixel almost is non existent in most places I never even met a pixel owner I was alone lol
I think to each his own. I recently got a pixel 3a and I can tell you I don’t think I need top specs. The phone is fluid and responsive. The hardware is so nice to the touch. The bezels are huge and I hope it could be better, but the camera just compensates for everything else. The pictures are out of this world. The battery life is great for a day use, consistently.
MIUI is divisive. K20 has limited LTE coverage in the U.S. Once again, MIUI? The best international phone for most people is the ASUS 6z or the Zenfone 6 2019. At least most people worldwide...can use it. Or even the OnePlus 7 non pro and I'm meh on OnePlus.
@@jamesw2831 well you people can afford those high end x y z phones. As I am from India. We always are on hunt for value for money phones. And K20 pro and K20 fits in our menus.
@@VishwasRavindran92 no we can't lol. That's a big misconception about people in the States. Many people subsidize through their carriers. I do not because I hate having to pay more for a phone. I've been buying unlocked and buying from since 2008. I bought subsidized once, in 2006. But after that, I am unlocked because the providers here have garbage variety. I'm not gonna stop now. Plus, my market sucks because we are literally controlled by Samsung and Apple (of which, I am not a large fan of either). I settled on the 3a because I got a deal. I refused to pay $479 USD when so many more phones offered more. If I had an international pic, the ASUS 6z is definitely it. If you like MIUI, go with the K20 Pro. If you don't want the OnePlus 7 Pro and notches don't bother you, the OnePlus 7 is perfectly fine.

If I was in need of a phone the 3a/3aXL would be my choice. My LG G7 is doing a great job thus far.
Nothing about lack of expandable storage. Big review omission.
"Only 399" reminds me of something else 😏
Watching on my 3a
Same :)
Is roaming available?
I'm pretty happy about my pixel 3a xl I wanted a big oled screen mainly to watch Netflix and RUclips and to that it doesn't disappoint.
Dude buy the laptop lol
still using the first pixel and installed the ported pixel 3 camera app.just using it to take stunning photos and content consumption for my kids on the go.and it still got the mic issue but i’m still keeping it
i have a pixel 3a xl and am totally satisfied with. i traded in my lgg6 which was a good phone but when these pixels came out i had to give one a try. and i did not make a mistake. it actually runs smoother than the g6 and there's no need for additional software like launchers and icon packs. if there was anything else i would ask for the most important would be at least an ip67 rating. and maybe a wide angle lense.
I'm glad a review finally mentioned the questionable nature of the 3a's durability. I've been so perplexed as to why this phone doesn't face more scrutiny considering the performance issues of the 3, and that this phone has somewhat lower specs than that.
why pay for this chipset when you can get a 855 for a lower price what's the point ?
The answer is simple. Marketing and American brains work well together.
I've been using a $150 phone (Asus Zenfone Max Pro M1)over a year....& I can say that it aged well....Still..just as useful as the day I bought it.
Google should have dropped the price tag in regular pixel.
I swapped out my S9 for a OnePlus 7 Pro and hated it. I took it back the next day and got a Pixel 3a XL. The phone is fine for my use, I get through my work day playing Spotify and browsing social media and still have 25% or more battery life left, and the pictures are....whew. *Chefs Kiss*
The problem for me is the video capture.
Iphone se 2020 is better with video, if u make lots of stills the 3a is the best choice (video's on the 3a are great aswell).
Imagine a pixel phone with user upgradable processors. One can only dream.
The pixel didn’t sell because it was on Verizon and most US customers don’t know a phone exist unless it’s on their carrier shelves. The pixel 4 will sell great because most Americans can pick it up.
The formula to have more profit is headphone jack!you may not use it in other regions, but in region with a great number of gamers its a big check
I read so many reviews, some good some bad, and I am totally confused. I have been thinking of getting rid of my three year old Droid Turbo 2 and buying the 3a xl. I would love some help. I am 64 years old and not real techy.
Pixel has the best android camera
I wonder how the 'Open Camera' App would work on this phone?
You lost me at lack of water resistance. I had a Note 6 that was ruined in a rain storm.
In India pixel 3a price is equal to oppo Reno 10×....
Arun Bills lol
Never heard of that phone tho
Y is it expensive in India..is it coz of Indian import tarrifs
@@zohebsaikia yes.. had there been a manufacturing plant in India, then it will be cheap.
But I'll still prefer the pixel over oppo phones due to the laggy OS and bloating ui.
I would really like someone to do a direct side by side comparison between the Pixel 3a's and the Samsung A 50 and 70
Especially since there's the international model a70 on Amazon with all the gsm usa bands for att and TMobile and etc and its around 360 vs 400 but I haven't owned a Samsung phone since the note 2 lol not sure how fast updates would be for the a70
Watched this on my Note 9, which I traded my Pixel 2 XL for because I didn't want the deep notch life.
I love my Pixel 3a XL 🙂
Here in Australia, the pixel 3 XL has the same trade in value as the S10+. So its value is still holding up.
I feel like the Pixel 2 XL is a better deal. You can get it for around the same price new, still get unlimited photo/video storage at full resolution, and an overall more capable chipset (including visual core).
Hey 8:17 ese es Jaume de Topes de gama!
Ese mero
I'm kinda always distracted with your t-shirts, Jaime!!! Man with the most shirts ever.... 😁
Great video Jaime, keep up the good work. No doubt the pixel 3A looks like a good phone. I will stick with my XR.
Why not pay more & get S10E when the prics difference is negligible in India.
It's not what we all need....
Mi9T Pro or K20Pro is still a far better choice at that price....
Great review man🔥😎👍
No Sir! K20 Pro is all what you need. Even K20 by Redmi is more than enough.
No thanks k20 Pro is great but I’m not giving up my pixel 2 xl and xs max
@@bigmaxcc nice bragging skills.
In india cost of pixel 3a 3axl starts from 500 dollars to 650dollars pixel price is benefited to american countries.Still google is making same mistake on pricing
64gb of storage is very little
9:05 Samsung has good looking midranges? Maybe but they feel cheap in the hand as far as I know. Great review other than that. I'm glad that you're honest enough to tell the truth about its camera performance being slightly worse than its flagship siblings while other RUclipsrs are saying it's completelythe same even though their own photo sample reveal the opposite.
THE MOTO G7 POWER NAILS ALL THOSE POINTS BETTER AT A CHEAPER COST.
AND I HAVE THE PIXEL APK ON IT.
Moto phones are completely underrated. I love my g6 play
I have an LG g5 should I get the pixel 3a? Or is there not much of a difference except camera. I can get s8 and s9 arounf the same price point (used) what should I do
But right now Galaxy s10e is available for an average price of 480$
So is questionable if u should get this or s10e
Alterate Awful Yes, that is what I’m trying to decide between now
@@drakos5442 depends on what are u looking for
I just got a 3aXL mainly for its camera and price of 329€. I tried S10 before, but its camera was a disaster, too much software intervention that photos are completely distorted.
Please don’t use the phrase sex appeal when talking about phones. We don’t have sex with phones lol
