    For those who are wondering the story behind the ride is the fairy-tale ''die sieben schwaben''. Its about 7 guys who travel around with a giant spear (the same spear the train is modeled after and which you are ''carrying'''') and one morning one of them is woken up by a loud noise while a other one smells gunpowder and burning. One of them tries to flees and climbs over a fence and gets hit in the face with a rake, the other ones surrender but to no avail. They see a pair of ears and decide to grab the spear to kill what they suspect is a dragon. Then they argue over who will go in the front, one of them steps up and they attack. But then the guy on the front notices that it was a hare all along. And of course because it is a fairy tale they all drown in a lake after the whole ordeal.

    Just came back from Tripsdrill and I agree, this ride is amazing! Probably the smoothest coaster I've ever ridden. Btw: Did anyone else notice that this is technically a swinging coaster? The seats are able to rotate slightly which makes this ride so smooth.

      not really. the amount they move is minimal. it's simply a suspension mechanism. you wouldn't call a car a bouncing vehicle. also inverts without suspension also "swing" a little because the metal bends slightly. It's imposible to see but the resulting stress onto the welds are the reason to build the trains like here with the suspension

    One thing I really love about this model compared to B&M inverts is just how much more open the seats are! As great as B&M inverts are, the views you get from most of the seats are kind of restrictive. Also, the combo of this and the family boomerang is fantastic. This combo is the kind of thing that could put a smaller park on the map!

  • @sebastiannolte1201
    @sebastiannolte1201 Год назад +5

    I don't know if many just take that for granted and so it is not mentioned so often (Maybe Taylor is just too young ;-)) but to me the best rollercoasters development of the last years (time flies, probably I have to say "last 20 years") is the improvement in seating comfort and restrains, and even without riding this to me the best improvement comparing to old SLCs: *No over-the-shoulder restrains!*
    I grew up in Germany in the 90s. Rollercoasters were family rides and Vekomas. I actually connected roller coasters with: You are cramped in a small car, going in and out is often hard, you hurt your knees, you have a strange loose restrains, etc. The first modern coaster then was Expedition GeGeforce in 2001 and: Wow, what a new experience! Nice seating, free knees, easy go in and out, ergonomic lap bar. And the next year Silver Star: OMG! Sitting like in a seat of a sports car, freedom all around, I can stretch out my legs!
    And inversion coasters in the 90s were old Vekoma here, that's it. So you are whirling around, quite rattling, and to make it worse: Over-The-Shoulder restrains.. So I never was a fan of inversion coasters. And a personal problem when I grew up: I am 6"7. Here in Germany practically all coasters with OTSRs are max 6"5, so I am not even allowed to ride these. Meanwhile I accept that, in the past I cheated, made me smaller, and tried it and ride operators mostly ignored it in the moment I sit in the coaster. But it was very uncofortable of course. My worst experience was a Vekoma Boomerang...
    And then Blue Fire opened, and again: Wow! A great seating similar to an B&M Hypercoaster - but with inversions! How is that even possible! I know many enthusiast think that BlueFire is lame, but it has a special place in my heart because it made me like coaster with inversions again - and made them possible for me to eve ride them "legally".
    So great to see that it meanwhile becomes more and more normal that inversion coasters don't necessarily need OTSR. And if they do they also are improved, the soft vest-style of F.L.Y. worked fine.

    I mean in terms of the layout and forces this ride is just a really good example of a European "thrill" coaster. Like this ride is basically the flagship at Tripsdrill now, and is meant to be a crowdpleaser, being big and wild enough to intimidate the public, but also not so intense it scares them off and doesn't maek them wanna reride, all while still pleasing the thrill seekers in the minority. I mean its an extreme ride in the European eye the same way something like Ice Breaker at Sea World Orlando would be. We just have the bar a little lower in general and aren't as intensity focused.

  • @sammorris6104
    @sammorris6104 Год назад +3

    I loved HUK, moreso even than several B&M inverts (but not all of them) - it's not remotely intense but the smoothness and airtime from an inverted coaster made it effortlessly rerideable and just great fun. Two-train ops when we visited so wait times were reasonable, we managed eight rides on a normal day alongside all the other attractions at the park. Honestly one of my biggest surprises of this year how much I enjoyed it

    I have a feeling this won't become as common as the SLC. The invert concept is somewhat of a 90s fad. The main problem of them is how they limit your view unless you're in the very front.

      I think these have the potential to kick off tbh, since a lot of suspended coasters (especially SLC's) will be coming to the end of their lifespan over the coming decade. I think most parks would choose to replace them with a new suspended coaster, since it's such a classic style of ride and this could be a pretty good deal for cost/quality.

    • @scottnelson9
      @scottnelson9 Год назад +3

      A suspended coaster is something you don’t realize you’ll miss until it’s gone. My home park in Kings Dominion and Volcano’s closer left a huge gap in their lineup without an off the track ride. If Cedar Fair isn’t going to work with Intamin for the time being, they should atleast consider working with Vekoma.

    As somebody who went to that park just last week, I think your review is spot on word for word with only one exception, I don't think the back is shaky. we mostly rode in the second to last row, we didn't found it to be shaky and liked it better than the second row because it just felt way more forceful. Maybe there's a rattle in the very last row, but if so then really just there, I think.

    The theme of the ride ist about the swabian farytale "Die sieben Schwaben/The seven swabians". (en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Seven_Swabians) It is basically about 7 "adventurers" who end up being afraid of a "monster", that turns out to be a rabbit. The station is themed as a tavern from which the 7 Swabians set off on their adventure. The voices in the braking area are not the rabbit but the Swabians who are amused to have been afraid of a hare. It is a somewhat strange story for strangers.
    I was in Tripsdrill 2 times since the opening and the line was not very long at both times. One time was just a few days ago, on a weekday that was anounced to be rainy, it was very empty that day. We got 8 rides on HüK, 6 on Karacho and 3 on Mamut (bach to back rides) after that is was quite enougth, considering how rough it is running.
    Volldampf is themed to the folk song "Auf de schwäbsche Eisebahne/On the swabian Railway". The station reasembles a train station. The song is about a farmer who ties his billy goat to the railway wagon so that the animal will run after the moving wagon, but at the next stop he only finds the animal's severed head and angrily throws it at the conductor. Tripsdrill has made the story a little less brutal by having the billy goat cling to the last wagon.

    I was there yesterday and the park was almost empty, got 10 rides on Hals über Kopf and gotta say the back is definitely the best, it has the best forces, even a bit airtime on the first drop, its no way shaky. The front row didnt impress me that much.
    It was so quiet there that I could stay seated after the ride was over. Had a little chat with the operator while waiting for more people so that the train has at least 4 people to go.

However, I'd hope they don't announce that next year only because the Orlando park is overdue for a coaster-even if it's "family" it could be one of those new log flume+coaster packages some could be getting too.
    I'd much rather ride this but I definitely need to give "Riddler's Revenge" another try, the new seats may not make it "re-rideable" but it works out well enough to experience the extreme layout without coming off feeling like you were beat up by angry mob lol.

Brand new top tier suspended coaster for the Netherlands, 2 new coasters for the park for the whole family, and just like Fenix these coasters can be the centrepiece to a brand new area. Mu biggest problem with this coaster is that the layout is so long. Vekoma should have made this thing so it fits PERFECTLY into an SLC plot. Then it could sell this as a replacement. Not only would parks love to not have "The Worst Coaster in the World" in them, it behooves Vekoma to get the world to forget they ever existed.
