Guys and gals, we are ONLY 3K away from putting Ray over that 500K mark. FIRST, check and make sure YOU are still subscribed because sometimes the gremlins get in there and dump you out. SECONDLY, if you are subscribed, talk to your friends and family, ESPECIALLY if they have an interest or love their cars. I know it might be hard but we MIGHT be able to get Ray to that mark by Easter. Let's do it!.
Great little cars these Hyundai Sonata models. I had a 2012 which I traded up for a 2018. Now got 110,000 miles and not a single issue. Oil, gas, tires. The 2012 had shitty stock tires, 2018 tires were much better but I still upgraded.
I had a 1996 Elantra - 320k when there finally developed a rod knock. A 1998 Elantra went 310k -- the non replaceable frame rotted out and I couldn't get enough metal to weld and the hood wouldn't stay tight because of the body twist so decided to junk it but the engine and tran/clutch was still good when it went to the yard. Timing belts every 100k, oil changed every 5K, only repairs were a few alternators, batteries and a couple CATs. I have a 2018 Elantra that gets 44 MPG and its been (knock on wood) trouble free. I also have toyotas, hondas -- all lots of miles.
Munch more better lo corrosion vehicles here in CenTex all the way to central California........Only had to work on rusted Midwest junk a few yrs til 70s move to CenTex. Never looked back
My coffee didn't taste the same without my morning dose of Ray. I even checked your channel for new vids. just in case RUclips stopped recommending them for some reason. Then I was concerned you might be sick or hurt. Glad you're back! You made this look easy, but I know better.
It's heartening to see that lot full of cars waiting to be wrenched on. Pretty soon Rainman is gonna be a Rainboss if those customs keep coming in. Glad it looks like your move out of someone else's shop into your own is working out for ya.
All that work for a bolt ..no chance ray ..been here before bud some steel round bar and weld a nut on one end cut to the right size then get the tap and dye set out and make the thread on the bar job done for Penny's (GB) never say you can't get the right Length bolt again you make it .. keep up the good work Jim from Greenock SCOTLAND
After watching the Wife Unit's channel, and your Off-duty channel, I fully understood the time away from wrenching. Happy birthday to whoever it was celebrating!
While you were gone RUclips unsubscribed us. We were at my sister's house yesterday looking you up on our account and sure enough we were unsubscribed. Needless to say we are resubscribed.
I keep every bit of hardware I can too. Just fixed a moonroof with a piece from an old air compressor. It was either replace the whole thing with a used unit, or repair it in place with a salvaged fitting.
Glad your back was worried that you were going out. I watched DYI gang then poof gone . I don't do Instagram or Twitter so when a favorite youtuber moves there I loose them
Ray, so glad to have you back. When I don't hear from my favorite video poster for a few days, I start to worry and think the worst, relieved all is well.
I'm amazed at how the Double Hockey Sticks you can make such a frustrating and complicated job look so (relatively) easy. This was Well Worth waiting for. Thank you.
@jacksonsheppard9668 I must disagree. He was trying to save the customer a bunch of money. Even though he did use a day to do it, I’m sure the customer appreciated him for at least trying. I know I would have appreciated it
Hyundai fun! I pull parts like that for a salvage yard and the things that always worry me are coils and leaf springs. Very wise of you to be extra cautious 👍
Just a suggestion, when I was a fleet mechanic, and had to do oil changes, I would FIRST use a center punch to poke a hole in filter to let it drain... then pull drain plug. By the time pan was drained the filter would be empty and no oily mess when taking off filter. Neat trick I learned.
@Rainman Ray I would have attempted putting in a long ‘Heli-Coil’ thread in there first likely saving a big pile of time. They are good and robust and hold in places like motor mounts, spark plugs, head bolts into block and many other applications. They have proven a life saver many times over. I believe ‘Heli-Coil’ is a proprietary name so you could find them under replacement machine threads or some similar references. Just a thought/suggestion to be helpful. Had my share of things going sideways and stripping out in my time with the wrenches.
I get it. You have a life and family and stuff but when my morning didn't start out with your video, I was discombobulated the whole day. No more days off. 😁
I'm amazed.... You made this look so easy.... when I looked at it I saw what appeared to be a impossibly difficult repair... I didn't see the same thing as you however.... You did a great job.... Doc
Hi Ray. Myself and others were quick of the mark to suggest repairing the thread's on the sub frame was the best option. Now seeing a better look at the damaged collar with the threads obliterated I agree that you once again made the correct decision. It is easy to make comment from our armchairs here at home and cause some angst of which I apologize if this is what was felt. Carry on my friend in what you are doing and I am sure you will get to the 500k mark very soon.
You made the correct choice in replacing the subframe, If it was my car I would 'Fix it" but some one else's vehicle - Full replacement (liability) Their car their problem.
One time I did a full suspension rebuild up front and subframe replacement in the rear, and just kinda put all the adjustments wherever 'looked good' (while hanging in the air at full droop). Sent it off to the alignment shop and it was dead on.
Reminded me of when I had to replace the rear assembly on my '55 Ford when the ring gear chipped off and a piece went thru the third member housing. Use one from a '58 Ford police car. Longer springs so it lifted the rear about 8 inches. Never tore up my exhaust after that however.
Every time i see ray work on suspension and subframes without struggling with stuck bolts i think about how easy it would be to work on cars down south
Congratulations! I've seen your wisdom mature over the years. A wise man learns from his mistakes and evolves to do better in the future. Seems your modification techniques are becoming more refined also. Attention to details do matter. I wish you many years of happiness with your new wife.
Way to beat those parts in to submission Ray. You are the man. And your videos are still top shelf. (I may have already posted. Can't remember.) Top shelf video. -SALUTE-
Mechanics hammers. Grandpa was German and he worked as a mechanic on a steam-powered dredge. He used to say that German mechanics didn't need hammers...things either fit or they didn't. But I noticed that his toolbox I got after he passed did have mechanics hammers.
don't apologize for not uploading for the past few days. You have a private life that should be taken from us. so do all the subscriptions. So we don't get to see your video the same day you get up. then we'll probably do it the next day. I hadn't noticed you hadn't posted in the last few days until you said that
Wife Unit's look on her face listening to Ray's instruction on removing the exhaust told a story. It goes like this " I really don't understand what you are trying to convey to me. Are you having me on Ray? I cant hold up the exhaust! I'll die! On camera! RAY!"🤣
In the late 80s early 90s I used to run a International ACCO( Australian constructed cab over)tray and had replace the entire differential and banjo now I am no motor mechanic so it took me over a week to do it we didn't have battery powered tools back then so everything was done using normal spanners etc
This is interesting, my 01 Tiburon (RIP), I was smacked by a Caddie doing a U Turn. The rear subframe I thought was replaced, it wasn't. Was bent to the point that overtime it rusted in half. I was pissed. Loved that car.
Nice to see you took a little time off that's always good but did miss your video. Look forward to yours and South Main Auto every day. Never miss either one Thanks
Just saying no videos of the giant fire come on ray lol. Good ya had a break glad to see ya back. Enjoyed wife units video of y'all draining the pond while ya were away.
A day without Rainman Ray's Repairs is like a day without sunshine. Glad you're back, I was starting to hyperventilate.
Glad to hear I’m wasn’t the only one.
Same here. God bless America
Yes. No wonder it has been raining here for days. I watched this video and tomorrow is supposed to be sunny!
I’m glad you took some time off for yourself and your family. It’s good to recharge. Really enjoy your channel 🤗
Agreed! Although I start to think worst when he does not post for a couple of days.

Last time on a sub push, I grabbed my wife's phone and wala, Ray had a new subscriber 😊

Ya. Senor Ray made slick work of frame change. Fixing the nitemare someone else created.
Yes I was thinking the same, lot different working on cars here in Ontario Canada, makes me laugh when Ray says this bolts corroded😂
Ikr, when Ray sprayed penetrate oil on the exhaust flange nuts, I was 🤔 what rust?
@@ricebike if that was in the UK, the entire exhaust flange and nuts would be fused together with rust and would need fire to get it off! lol

I felt like Ray really wasn't pulling his weight when we were lifting that sub frame together.
Second this. I'm beginning to think Ray is a slouch, all of us are just covering for him while he gets all the credit. Lol.
LMFAO
Another excellent repair. On my personal vehicle I use Anti-seize on most of the bolts. Causes less issues years later.
