I want to note that though the base stat I gave him could seem too high at 609 in OU there are currently 2 pokemon that have a 660 base stat total however yes I will admit that it’s a big number lol but the idea was that that big base total was balanced by that horrible defensive typing also I just realized I burped during the video my bad lol
Even then there are a bunch of Pokemon around that BST like Iron Valiant, Roaring moon, Walking Wake, Gouging Fire and Raging Bolt all having Photosynthesis/Quark Drive to boost their Stats even higher than their Base 590. Dragonite and Dragapult having base 600 with Garchomp having the same BST and dropping to UU multiple times this generation and Hoopa-U having a 680 BST and being RUBL this Gen. The main reason this could be broken is Tropius already has Earthquake and combined with Aerilate boosted Double-Edge and Dragon dance we could end up with a weaker Mega Salamence Stat wise but have it be able to hold an item and be able to Tera into a Defensive type like steel for more set up. So imagine a Mega Salamence with 20 lower Attack,10 less Speed in exchange for being able to hold Heavy Duty boots or Life Orb and being able to Tera out of it's flawed base typing while maintaining similar bulk due to it's Higher HP stat. Honestly whether it gets Banned could be determined on whether it or Roaring Moon is the better Dragon Dance Sweeper but knowing how Chaotic and Unpredictable Gen 9 has been I still would not be surprised if this ended up UUBL😭
it's not that high really, tho maybe if we want to keep it on par with other common mons you could just lower it's special atack to say 50 and it's speed to 95 or smth
To be fair to you, Slaking has base 680 and is PU in gen 3. I'd say this would be entirely valid, so long as the movepool buffs weren't all in place all the way since ADV.

The thing that disappointed me most about Tropius is that in Scarlet and Violet the tm ingredient collected from Tropius is “Tropius leaves.” I! Want! Tropius! BANANAS!!! When tasked with giving every Pokémon some collectible that are dropped from battle, who at gamefreak had bananas served to them on a silver platter and still went “nah, why not collect some leaves instead?” I want to make a tm using banana collected off of a Tropius! I don’t care if turning a banana into a disc makes no sense, none of the drops make sense, it’s purely a game mechanic thing, give me the bananas!
Tropius is the same size and weight as its fellow Grass-type Venusaur, yet has a bst 65 whole points lower. Freaking Stantler has a higher bst than it.
609 BST?! That's higher than a psuedo-legendary! I think at most, he should be 510 BST. Give him 30 extra points in attack (making it 98) and 20 in speed (making it 71) he can still keep his decent bulk and mediocre special attack that way and he won't be overpowered
I like the changes, I just feel like you made its BST too high, you could have it be in the 500s and it’ll be decent, since it doesn’t have to be too fast due to Dragon Dance and having Priority, so maybe making its Speed 95 and its attack 110, since it’s going to be able to boost its Speed and Physical Attack with Dragon Dance, and then maybe making its HP just base 100, since it’s a good HP Spot since it has decent defenses. Also what ability was changed? Since it probably wouldn’t need base 110 Speed if it still has Chlorophyll
That’s a good point although I made this without chlorophyll in mind because this whole model hinges on arialte (or however you speak that ability) but I don’t think it’s overpowers because that typing will definitely hold it back just because grass and flying is so bad lol
I always thought Tropius could be an awesome Grass/Dragon type, but Aerilate is a cool gamer ability for cool gamers, so I think your concept is also pretty nice. It's kind of surprising how many good moves it does already have, like you mentioned. Just goes to show how much a lackluster statline and typing can hold something back.

This turns him into a monster Personally I would’ve done something like: (This is just rounded up bronzong stats for an example) 70 90 120 80 120 35 Total 515: Give him wind rider or unburden as an ability. Keep him bulky, his abilities add the destructive capability.
Lemme drop a childhood story rq Back in 2006-2007 when i played Pokemon Diamond (which my first pokemon game), i remember going in completely blind, totally oblivious to any previous Pokemon titles, so anything Gen 1-3 to my stupid ass 6 year old brain saw those Pokemon as "new" and a good amount of them were seen as "Mysterious Mythicals" cause i didnt know wtf a Swampert, Blaziken; or the topic of this story, Tropius was. So when i first entered the Safari Zone, i encountered Tropius and i was HYPED!!! I saw a pokemon with a kickass design that i have never seen in the main story. Seeing a Brachiosaurus-like Pokemon with wings made my eyes sparkle and i added him to my team (DO NOT ASK ME WHAT I NICKNAMED IT!!!!!!). In my head, i thought i caught an ultra rare titan-sized legendary pokemon no one else has ever used. My underdeveloped mind wasnt able to process it was ass even when i used it and failed miserably to make it work. Years later i grew a few brain cells and looked back at those memories, only to be met with sheer disappointment knowing how ass of a typing it has, how SEVERELY underwhelming it's stats are, shocked to see it wasnt a giant and just a basketball player in height at best, and that it was just a mid ass pokemon that had no semblance of a unique rarity to it. Tropius still has a special place in my heart personally, but god damn did this poor bastard fall off hard for me.
Extreme speed is the answer to everything; it should be as common as scratch. I guess it is as easy as that now to be a game designer these days. I guess we found the creator of Flutter Mane.
lol i know modern pokémon stat totals get crazy these days but that’s a massive stat boost. it is deserving thematically imo since it is supposed to be a massive beast, i did buff him to 575 in my jack but leaned more into it defensive nature having its bad typo i got covered by high stats in a gen that otherwise doesn’t have too many.
Would be cool to see a new form of Tropius with the same bst but changed typing, minmaxed stats and a new ability. I'd love something similar to how scyther can evolve into scizor/kleavor.
One of my favorite designs in the series but yeah both stats and even its shiny are disappointing. Imagine how much better the shiny would be if they made the bananas red
Personally I think the best way to handle it is making him a volcorona clone with quiver dance and a 540 bst I think 609 is way too high you could swap volcs special and physical defense around In order to make it a little more unique and idk give it a reliable flying type signature move or something
I think you went a bit too far with this, though I do like a lot of the ideas. I actually like aerialate a lot, along with a much higher attack stat and more bulk. Base 110 speed is probably too much, especially with dragon dance as an option, so maybe lowering that to 80 would make more sense. I don’t really see this Dino being capable of extreme speed, but I do like roost a lot, since it really should have this move. If randoms is anything to go off of, tropius has one of the worlds most annoying sub seed sets when it actually gets stats, so we gotta be careful there. Overall cool changes! I also feel like tropius could use some sort of signature move involving bananas? I don’t know exactly what, but it could really use something interesting there using its unique design.

I consider the 609 base stats to be too high. 600 is the universal stat total for pseudolegendaries. Giving Tropius more stats is perfectly fine considering how lowballed he's always been, but popping him to 500, which is Scyther's total as an, at least originally, unevolving pokemon is reasonable. Plus I feel Tropius is meant to be slower and bulky. A stat spread of : HP: 100 ATK: 100 DEF: 95 Sp ATK: 50 sp DEF: 90 spd: 65 Seems to fit better. It gives him even more bulk and a solid attack to threaten with, specially with dragon dance. Ability wise giving it grassy surge would help too. And giving it Grassy glide for priority to hit even harder and still give it speed. It could hold a grassy seed to buff its bulk even more to make it an absolute pain to kill on the physical side, even with its weaknesses. Other moves to give it would be brave bird, and Acrobatics (tropius has no good physical flying moves) The only two certain moves would be Grassy Glide and Dragon dance. Acrobatics will do 110 stab with grassy seed gone or if you need an extra boost brave bird works. Body Press plays right into grassy seed too and allows boosted defense to hit hard on rock types and ice types, as well as steel types that would more easily wall it. Earthquake is a a good all purpose coverage. Could also run leech seed or synthesis/roost as the 4th move if it ends up in a tier it can go extra bulky.

Tropius could be used on bulky teams to set up grassy terrain for passive healing and help with earthquake spam. Grassy Seed still works on flying types so it still gets the def boost as well. It at least makes it somewhat usable and gives it an actual niche as a terrain setter. Could also give it knock off for utility or even give it thief to steal enemy items and ruin certain mons that lean on their items, since tropius would be free to steal an item after grassy seed was eaten. The idea is to have a spammable move (Grassy glide) and then either use dragon dance to attempt to sweep or be an obnoxious pest with support moves.
I really like the idea but I (and I think many comments) think the base stat total doesnt feel exactly right, but I think 580 bst works. 580 might leave it in UU I'd think depending on what you took away from, but I love the concept of this really powerful pokemon with all the tools and strength it needs, but balanced by a not great typing. I think taking away from it's Phys. Def and Attack would be the best, but I think thematically it's design is also really bulky, so maybe like ~85 speed and keeping most of the same stats might work. I really like this concept though and I wish tropius was as epic as this, plus I love Aerilate. Fun hypothetical, love the channel!
I feel like the stat buffs you offered would be a bit too drastic and fit more in an evolution to Tropius. Imo, his BST shouldn't be higher than like 550 at most, but like he just needs a good evolution. Especially with the bulk you gave him, 110 speed is WAY too fast. You're stat spread before gears him towards being a slow but bulky physical attacker. Making him fast, bulky, and hit like a truck is just overkill
I disagree because it would be generally balanced out by his terrible typing there are many pokemon out there with insane stats but horrible typings which holds them back tropius would be an example of that
i was making an emerald hack rom and got a BST that was close to yours, I kinda gave it Heatran-like base stats but more oriented to defense (130/90/106/91/106/77) and made it a single encounter Legendary. The typing and movepool still had to be completely accounted for, because it was still very mid except for the classic harvest stall set, which was bonkers. Plus a signature ability named "Reforestation", which heals its HP by 1/10 every time it hits with an attack, offsetting Life Orb recoil.
I like the take, but I kinda like the concept of tropius as a bulky support grass pokemon, like a physical version of eggxegutor with harvest. I would just honestly bump the defenses and ho way up and keep the speed low. Let it have utility like defog, tailwind, roar/whirlwind, maybe even dragon cheer could be fun

Tropius is Grass/Flying. Terrains only affect grounded pokémon. Thus, terrain does not help Tropius, but maybe it might help the team.
